Very cool tunnel! The trail is very nice in this section and the tunnel is a huge bonus. Nice and cool on a hot day. There's an interesting historical sign on the south end.

Nice paved tunnel, LED lights really make the tunnel look nice. One of the best places along the Rock Island Spur. Can see water leaking through roof and sides of tunnel.

Landmark feature along the Rock Island Rail Trail. Perfect low impact ride for a 23mi round trip. Parked at Crane Brewing, rode down to the trailhead (end) at Lee’s Summit and back. Shaded, gravel pack to paved all the way.

Bike ride after a rainy morning. Beautiful sense of being submerged in the woods. This is a walking , biking trail following the old Rock Island rail trail. No admission is required. Public use with trail leading from the ball stadiums to Lee's Summit. Vale tunnel is located on the trail.

We have Loved this tunnel as a part of the Rock Island Trail. Jackson County renovated the tunnel. The lighting is motion sensitive. So, if you see it being dark, which it gets even during the day. Just go up and at the entrance it will light up like daylight with Large LED lights that light your way 24/7/365. Exercise Well and Safe here.

On a hot day of walking or biking on the Rock Island Trail, the old train tunnel is a great place to cool down. Very scenic too.

πŸ‘ Definitely a fun place to visit and explore. From a hikers perspective, very poor signage from one trail to another. There were trails blazed in red and we only noticed that because a rock was red here, a tree was red there and we figured that must be the case. There are white signs and arrows, but...

πŸ‘πŸ‘ I'm in love with this place. I could seriously write a book about it. A note to those who would like to visit. It's not in the best of areas, and the property has been fenced off, though that doesn't stop everyone. There is a lot of debris and growth, and the structure itself is in continuously dete...
