First time visiting, 5+ Stars. This place is a true gem! Arrived right during lunch rush. We were warmly greeted immediately and then seated. Menu has a myriad of available options all focused, as the name suggests, on Breakfast and Lunch. Our food came out in a reasonable time. The 3 egg scramble was well prepared and Full of whatever ingredients I selected. The Pork chop breakfast...Amazing!! Best pork chop I have tasted in a long long time - light crisp and full of flavor. The breakfast potatoes were seasoned just right. And the pancakes here...(dramatic pause)...Ginormous and soo good. Service was excellent. Several servers came by throughout our visit (during lunch rush) checking on us ensuring glasses were full and we were happy with our meal. I left full and wishing this place was closer to my home! Absolutely will be will be returning again when in the area.

Food was very good! I ordered the strawberries and cream pancakes, with scrambled eggs and sausage patties. This place is typical very busy for breakfast. As a result, the wait staff can disappear on you between the point where you order, and when you receive your food. However they are always friendly and quick to build rapport. Definitely a restaurant worth repeat visits

I don't think I've had anything here that I didn't enjoy! Always busy on the weekends but you'll still get seated quickly. Staff is nice and quick. Food is yummy & priced fairly, portions are good too. Omelets are great, the traditional breakfast will have you full all day, the lunch wraps are fire. Now with chicken & waffles if you'd rather have strips, you only get 2 and 1 extra strip was like 4.50. Outside of that, we'll always return

We went around 8 a.m. on a Saturday. Tammy served us. We got the chicken fried chicken, sweet potato pancakes, french toast and eggs. Big portions and quality food. Reminds me of an old diner, but upgraded. Small hole in the wall but the ratings ring true. We were greeted and seated promptly. Tammy kept us in the loop with when our food would be ready and everything came out just like it should have. I would definitely go back to try something else. Oh and the sweet potato pancakes were πŸ”₯.

Little gem off the beaten path. We stayed in Raytown, MO, and this was nearby. So glad we found this place. Friendly staff, excellent food!

Update:It has been great. Busy or not. So much so that I wanted to eat here on my birthday. Well, it was a game day and everyone else had other plans, so I was glad when I went there alone as the were supper busy. I requested to sit at the bar, instead of waiting in the long line. The host agreed and removed the previous patrons plate. I had to request multiple times for someone to clean the counter off. It happened after I received my drinks. My hot chocolate was cold chocolate milk, they corrected that. I ordered the fried pork chop meal, with gravy on the side. My pork chop was very salty, but I don't add salt to anything, so I figure I was just sensitive. The batter was like a cereal batter for fried chicken and great. The macaroni and cheese was bland. So I mixed it with the pork chop to balance the seasoning out. The gravy seemed like store bought and was not good at all. I just kept it to the side. Maybe I should have attempted that with the pork chop and it's seasoning. I went to take a picture of my strawberry cake I was taking to go and immediately questioned the gray spots and coloring of the icing. I saw it in the refrigerator near my seat and it looked good there, so I ordered it. The I asked the staff near me about it and decided to taste a small spoon of the icing and cake. It was moldy. I let them know they apologized and was going to take it off of my tab. And I requested something to help remove the taste. I told them to leave it on the tab as they'd forgotten to add my hot chocolate. That in itself confused my waitress, so she'd brought me another one in a to go cup. I realized it was there and decided it would suffice in removing the taste. I took a sip and I must have just gotten the cold whipped topping. I went to get another sip before leaving and burnt my tongue. Thankful, then, for the saltiness of the pork chop as it helped it not be so bad. I tried to pick the cup up, but scalded a part of my hand when a little came out. I just left it there. Now, I don't know what happened between the last time and this one. The staff was nice and helpful. They were busy, but it's not the first time. I also noticed the waitress that normally serves me, Gina, was not there. I don't know anyone else's name. I received my glass, no straw, food no flatware set, so I requested and waited for these things as well. The taste and burn lasted a while, but recovered. Maybe it'll be better next time. Until I decide to try, I've decided to venture beyond.

I ordered my food to go this time around. And it was just as good as if I was served it at the table. I have to say my new favorite thing is these sweet potato pancakes. Absolutely delicious. Don't even need syrup they are so good

My daughter took me to this restaurant for breakfast. I had never noticed it and am not sure how long it has been at its current location. I ordered the #5 which includes 2 eggs, your choice of bacon or sausage, and a large Belgian waffle. I had them to add strawberries and whip cream. I give the food πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ out of a possible 10. My daughter ordered the #1 which was a massive array of eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and biscuits and gravy. I almost became full just looking at her breakfast😊. The interior of the restaurant was a mix and match of colors and pieces of furniture. It was oddly designed and situated. The space felt confined which is contrary to what I enjoy in an establishment that serves food. The service was good. Our host made sure we possessed the necessary condiments and that our food was to our liking. She had a genuine smile and was quite personable.

Placed a take out order and arrived for curbside at my expected time. It took 30 minutes to receive my food. Appeared to be a rush job, food looked as if it was just thrown into the box, potatoes were still hard, undercooked sausage and burnt pancakes. Began to eat my eggs and discovered that there was hair in my plate. After calling 5 times someone finally picked up and told me to return the food, but that I would have to wait to speak to the manager to receive a refund. No apologies for their mistake. I don’t think we’ll be back

The 2 times that I've been there, was exquisitely elegant in all for my experience. The food was on the most succulent and juicy pork chops that I've had in a very long time. The first time was having the pork chop meal with 3 extra chops to go. The second time same meal with 4 chops to eat while there. If the experience I had with this combination of food, then I know everything else will be on point.πŸ‘πŸ‘to the cook because he or she knew what they was doing. The service was in a high tolerance for myself because didn't have to wait long to order or receive the food. Each waitress that served us was very friendly and inviting. I apologize for not remembering their names but I remember their faces. Warm feelings from them! The atmosphere was up to par as well. Each table we sat at was on a very good cleanliness and we was able to eat in a calm state of mind. So I would like to say THANK YOU for establishment to be there and I hope you guys will have more years to come!

Food is good if you’re prepared to wait to be served. Last 3 times we’ve went in, it took 10-15 minutes to even be served a drink. We had to walk out the last time we were there because we didn’t even know who our waitress was. Seems like the waitresses pick up whatever tables they want and don’t communicate whose table is whose. We never have an issue when we come in with a larger group. It’s a shame because the food is good, but it’s a ridiculous wait.

Beyond loved my fried pork chop breakfast, today! My only reason for not giving 5 stars is how the waitress left us relatively unattended after the crowd died down. I understand being around as much when busy, but not at all when there are fewer customers present...

Hidden gem!!! We moved into our new office in August and are just down the street. We usually order online and pick up to go. Super easy to order and the food is ready quickly. Highly recommend their breakfast. The peach cobbler pancakes are to die for. Everyone is super friendly inside and the food is amazing!

If you think this place is good your momma don't know how to cook. Plus left things off our order then called us liars when we asked. Now they're stealing my money trying to get my money a second time when I already felt ripped off paying for it the first time.

Love the service we received but I wasn't impressed with the chicken and waffles I ordered.

My friend and I love to try hole in the wall breakfast places weekly. We were recommended to come here at Portia's cafe, another great family owned cafe. Marvin the owner is very friendly as well as the other staff. The food was amazing!!! I had the pork tenderloin, greens, green beans and corn bread. She had the biscuits and gravy and fried potatoes. The biscuits literally melted in your mouth and my dinner was fabulous. Would definitely recommend and come back to try the pies and cobblers for sure!!!!

First time here and I’ll definitely come back. My food came out hot and fresh. The breakfast sandwich was the BEST I’ve ever eaten. Warm atmosphere and friendly waitresses, but it seemed they were overwhelmed by the breakfast rush. Overall a great, authentic diner with comfort food. The only downside is no refills on certain drinks.

Dissapointed! We haven't been here in awhile and was looking forward to it. Last time we were there we had the best chicken fried steak. We walked in and hostess didn't acknowledge us, we had to say good morning to her. Then we waited for a bit and no one came to our table to serve us. After noticing there wasn't the chicken fried steak and gravy on the menu, we asked the hostess and she had no clue...and didn't offer to find out! The morale in there was low energy. We left and went to Gingers Restaurant off 63rd and woodson. The food there is hot and delicious and we were treated professionally. When you spend a lot of money to go out and enjoy yourself, you want to be treated properly.
