Normally I would give them 5 stars, but my husband drove through, ordered Garlic Chicken and asked for it to be made mild. The food was so spicy we couldn’t eat it. When I called to ask for a refund I was told we could bring the food back to get a refund. He also offered to make it for me again. We’re a long time customer and normally the food is great. They have our favorite crab Rangoon! The rest of our food was great!

Take out only. They do make fresh to order. Drive thru is a nice feature. They have pretty ok sweet and sour chicken. The crab Rangoon has no crab in it but I actually prefer that because I love them but am allergic to crabs. They do not give fortune cookies here - sad kitten. ..

Shanghai is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the city. I usually call ahead to pick up but sometimes struggle to get someone to answer but they're usually extra busy and at the times I order so it's understandable. I always get the shrimp fried rice, spicy, with an order of egg rolls and a side of the brown gravy. Portions are perfect and always fresh. I tried the curry chicken add shrimp and it was really good. Perfectly spicy. Could have added more shrimp though. Can never seem to catch them when they have shrimp egg foo young! Prices have increased but it's worth it. Will always return!

Wow! We have tried 2 other local restaurants, and this blew them out of the water. It was so good! I got orange chicken - spicy, and I loved it! My husband got the beef and snow peas, and he was really impressed with how good the meat tasted! Anytime we want Chinese, we will be ordering from here! We were able to call ahead, which made it much easier having kiddos.

My wife put me on 💯 best Chinese place in the area. You will NOT find better crab Rangoon anywhere. Price isn’t bad either, we buy a couple dishes and feed the whole family. Around $30 for tons of food. The only bad thing I can think of is that they’re not a buffet. I also wish they’d share their secret crab Rangoon formula 😂😂 got me feeling like plankton. 🤣

Picked up today at the Drive up window 2 meals both General chicken 1 with rice the other with noodles , the chicken was old and tough covered with sauce the noodles where over cooked spaghetti , the rice was the only thing eatable, was charged over $24 for some reason . I hope others will let them know they need to improve there food and stop overcharging, no photos to share put in the trash

Hello I visited the location on 10/10/22 6pm and I have been coming here for years. The only problem I ever had was that I was shorted extra shrimp that I had paid for but went back and was given the shrimp with no problem. I like the place a lot and the people are very nice. I can afford to eat out everyday if I want and I don't want any free food. The problem I had was the MooShu chicken smelled and tasted a little burnt and the two egg rolls were burnt very bad like they were fried three times. I have never got bad food from here ever until now. Believe me I know Chinese food and what it's supposed to taste like. I mainly wanted you guys to know. Fyi Mama China's food use to be real good years ago you don't need to worry about them but you do have competition close by that gives 35 percent more food for a cheaper price and the food is always very good. I just wanted to let know and $16.06 total for MooShu Chicken and two egg rolls is kinda pricey for sub standard food. I will wait a few months and give you another chance. Thanks hang in there and be positive I only want to to be and stay successful a lot of good places are going out of business!

I like to call in my order ahead of time and pick it up because it gets so busy after 5, but they are never consistent when it comes to answering their phones. Other than that the food is amazing.

Affordable Chinese food that is made fresh. I love that there's a drive through. Everything was made really fast and tasted amazing. I got the Mongolian beef and loved it. The crab Rangoons were amazing. 10/10 will be back.

Has drive through which is great and good pricing compared to others in the area. Portions were okay, but broccoli was under cooked some.

I wish I had tried them sooner. The outside looks rundown, but the food is great. Even the presentation in to-go meals. I've gone through the drive-through 3 times this month, and every time, it has been fantastic. Generous sizing. Sesame Chicken is my favorite, not chili pepper extreme like other places. Lemon Chicken is great, not being too much lemon.

First time trying it. The price is not good. The food was spicy like General Tso's should be. The Crab Rangoon have a good flavor but fried too hard and not enough cream cheese. Drive through is convenient. People are nice.

Seriously the best takeout in the area and maybe the entire metro. Very consistent! Been going here for 4 years . And many years to come I'm sure

Saw another review that the food was too spicy to eat. I knew I had to try it. I looovee my chicken in garlic sauce. It was actually spicy. Most will say it’s spicy and then there is literally no spice at all! Delicious!!! Just wished the portions were a little bigger….but then again w inflation the portion was probably about right for the price.

Very disappointed. Usually good food. I stopped to pick up dinner about 4:30. The breaded chicken pieces were obviously left over and reheated maybe from yesterday. Very dried out and chick tasted burnt.

This place is drive thru only. My food was fine. My partner didn't like theirs. I had the Springfield chicken. My hot & sour soup was good! Their egg rolls & crab Rangoon & egg drop soup weren't the best (to us).

Thank you! Guy was kind enough to put the spices on the side so my husband could have less spicy orange chicken while I punished the insides of my mouth as Gd intended.

I've been a regular for 5 years now and they never disappoint. You get a lot of food for the price, and the family who runs this joint is awesome!

This was a place we went to regularly until our food order was very greasy where we couldn’t eat it! The owner is very rude and unpleasant when the customer expresses a dislike with the food instead of trying to make things right she becomes very Confrontational!

I recently moved back to KCMO after spending 8 years in Minnesota and finally had the chance to return to Shanghai Express... I cannot believe it. After 8 years the quality of ingredients and the restaurant itself has retained the standard that used to make this a regular quick stop on my way home from a long day. Find your favorite and you'll make sure you find your way back.

A staple in Raytown. Only Chinese we eat. Wether it's called in for pickup or you wait in the line, it never disappoints. Owners treat you the way you treat them. Longer waits when they are busy are worth every second because your food is being cooked fresh every order. Go early if you want egg drop soup as it's so good they sell out.
