Miller & Carter on the river side at the Oracle is a lovely rendition of the steak house chain. A spacious inside with relaxing decor sets you up for a relaxing meal with friends and family. I had the 50 day sirloin medium rare and it was good. The steak was so thick though that I kind of wished I had asked for medium (something to consider). One of my friends had the T bone and oh my that looked good - it was *big*. The IPA on tap was nice and smooth. The staff were very friendly and good fun. Big thanks to Tara who served us and put up with our raucous boys own fun and laughter 😁 A great night out and as summer draws near a meal outside on the balmy riverside is a win. Recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Right next to the Oracle shopping centre. Was greeted by friendly staff. Sat down in the stylish interior. Good choice of wine and beer on tap. If you like Steak then this is a place to come. Reasonable price steak which they know how to cook, so mine came out great. I also like the lettuce wedge you get with the steak as well. I went with the honey mustard and bacon which was really good. Overall a good experience exactly what I wanted.

Delicious steak. Great choice. Perfectly cooked. Cosy atmosphere, just what you need in autumn/winter. Amazing impeccable service - thanks so much Arek, we had a lovely time and will definitely be back to try out desserts and burgers!

Although it is a noisy place, Marco was really nice, the food was good, the chicken and steak were excellent, the nachos was ok, the salad was really small. I would say we enjoined the ambiance most of all

The restaurant is very good, the service and food are excellent, but at the reception a young lady was not at all kind to the customers, I didn't have a reservation and I saw the restaurant empty, I asked if we could have a table for 4 people and she said no, no apologies and other options , I returned after 2 minutes to the restaurant, I made the online reservation on the phone, I think the girl at the reception should be more sociable and help the customers, I saw customers refused and the restaurant was empty. excellent service, congratulations to the Indian waiter for all recommendations and service

Came here for a lunch with friends, the food was exceptional. I can't fault anything. The sticky chipotle chicken bites were in a sauce so yummy I had to very unceremoniously mop up afterwards! The surf and turf seemed small initially but after eating it realised it was the perfect portion! The sundae was huge and delicious!! The service was prompt, very quick and our server Laura was very welcoming, positive and friendly! I'm not a local to Reading but would definitely come back here often if I lived here! Worth a trip :)

I don't know where to begin. This has to be one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. The atmosphere was brilliant. The place was packed and there was a real buzz in the air. Our server, Hannah, was amazing and very attentive and friendly. All of the staff were very friendly and efficient. Best service we have ever experienced from a restaurant. The food was so good, the steak I had with bordelaise sauce and a side of ribs was delicious, and one of, if not, the best steak I have ever had. My partner had a full rack of ribs and fully enjoyed it. We wanted to chat, but we just couldn't stop eating the great food. We then had dessert. I had a creamy, rich banoffee pie, which was just such a treat to eat. My partner had a fantastic pavlova, which her eyes lit up when it was placed in front of her. She wolfed it down. I'm definitely going to be returning. Maybe February to celebrate a birthday. Can't wait to come back and try the other steaks and have such great service again.

Steak experiences are a thing! Who would have thought it, but I love this idea and its such good value for money. The service was impeccable with proper check backs throughout, suggestions on what to eat or how best to have it and things to consider that you wouldn’t otherwise think of. As it was a celebration meal we were going all out and couldn’t miss starters even though the mains promised to be immense. SALT & PEPPER CALAMARI - Crispy fried squid, oak-smoked garlic and lemon aioli dip. This was an interesting choice for me as I know very few places can cooked calamari without it being used as a hair band. This was good and delivered crunchy crispy battered calamari pieces that were soft. BAKED CHEDDAR MUSHROOMS (V) - Creamy Cheddar cheese and spinach sauce with toasted breads. Rich and gooey, and a very handsome serving. BEEF BARBACOA MAC & CHEESE - a goooood string pull, soft macaroni and plenty of cheese! PRAWN & AVOCADO COCKTAIL - Fresh avocado, baby gem lettuce and Bloody Mary sauce. prawns were a decent size, cooked well with large chunks of avo. Each main comes with a choice of a lettuce wedge. Not a dish for me, but I get it! Lettuce is freshly cut, nice palate cleanser and adds a good crisp cold crunch. We tucked into 2 steak experiences at our table. I shared the Millers Cote De Boeuf Experience which is a 24oz Côte de Boeuf steak with a bottle of Argentinian Malbec, grilled lobster tail, sautéed greens and beef barbacoa mac & cheese. There is no way you are going to be hungry after this. We did however demolish the entire steak and sides as it was too delicious not too. We requested our steak blue/rare and it was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. This came with a crispy potato cake, chips and sauces too. The lobster tail was smothered in garlic and delivered juicy and succulent to our table. The Malbec went down a treat and rounded off this meal perfectly. This experience costs £100 but if you take into consideration the price of 2 steaks (around £30-£35 each) plus wine and all the sides, this is a good deal. So worth it! The other steak experience was the Butchers Block 27oz. This is the best way to explore a variety of steak flavours and cuts. It included a 50 day aged Black Angus Ribeye 10oz, 30 day aged Rump 7oz and two cuts of 50 day aged Black Angus Fillet 5oz. Served with beef brisket and topped bone marrow, potato cake and sauces. This experience is £71.95 and again, I think good value for money. Other orders to the table included Half Rack of Barbeque Ribs, which unfortunately arrived a little cold, but was soon whisked away and replaced with steaming hot ribs, and the Maple Glazed Chicken. I’ll definitely be recommending Miller & Carter as a go to steak restaurant and I am keen to try the ones here in Edinburgh.

Steak was good and the bone marrow was exceptional! Loved it!!! I forgot the name of what we ordered 😬 but it was really tasty! The staff was also helpful and accommodating. Update: Just recently came here this month (May) and i asked the staff what the name of the meal in the first photo was, and his answer was totally unexpected- they have removed this from their menu 🥲 So we ordered a different meal which was the black angus 8oz and it was good as well, paired with sautéed greens and truffle sauce. Most of my friends ordere black angus as well, and ribeye. There were lots of people as it was weekend, and make sure to wear smart casual when you go there.

I have been to Miller and Carter before in the evening and day time lunch was quite a different experience. The restaurant was very quiet and although staff were not busy our waiter could not raise a smile. The food took a long time to arrive, we ordered chateaubriand which was delicious, however the sweet potato fries were over cooked. We were very excited about going to Miller and Carter and left very underwhelmed by the experience.

Never disappointed when I go for dinnero to Miller & Carter. Steaks are always cooked as we want them and as good as any other time. We only had an issue once when the steaks came cold and we mentioned it to the waiter. They took them, warmed them up and came back with extra chips, so can't complaint! Staff is polite, welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Miller & Carter Oracle I recently had the pleasure of dining at Miller & Carter Oracle in Reading, and I was very impressed. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. Our waitress, Jordan, was particularly outstanding. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. She made sure that we had everything we needed and that we were enjoying our meal. I would highly recommend Miller & Carter Oracle to anyone looking for a great dining experience. The food is excellent, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is perfect for any occasion.

My brother, his wife and I went for dinner here on Friday. The service was top notch and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. For starters we had scallops (overcooked), bao bun (perfect) and mushrooms (also perfect) Fire mains, we ordered 2x ribe eyes medium and one lamb (my brother is a weirdo clearly). My steak was beautifully cooked and was everything you could dream of in a 16oz dinner🥳 My sister-in-law's was undercooked so our waiter whisked it off to the kitchen. When it was returned, it was then medium but sadly it was burnt on the outside which left an acrid taste. Overall, we'd give the food a 7.5/10 because of the undercooked/burnt steak and overcooked scallops. The service was exceptional though and everything else was really nice. It's definitely a bit on the pricey side but when it's done well, it's worth it.

Was great steak, was great service.... Gone downhill now since 4 years. Been here 5 times in the last 12 months and each time it gets worst and worst. Walk in with 5% fill capacity so definitely not busy at all... Got given a table which was wobbly. Service came, it was OK but when the food arrived.... Jesus christ... Nandos are stale, salad with brown edges and then the steak... Both ordered medium to medium well and one was cremated (see pic), even the camera can't pick up any moisture with the overhead lights... At least my wife's portion was acceptable. Excessively charcoal chucks on my plate, salt was excessive to the point I had to quickly buy another drink after leaving the premises. Paid extra for sweet potato fries but they was so soggy, it fell apart from picking it up from the stainless steel bucket. Onion cake was so crispy, I thought I was chewing on glass. Definitely won't be returning in a long while... Only two items that was good is the long island ice tea and the ameretto blush.

The restaurant is decorated in a traditional style, is very spacious, and not too loud even when full. It's located on the riverside as part of The Oracle shopping district. The menu consists of steak plus other traditional, British, meat-based dishes. Our steak was delicious, as were the sauces, sides, and salad that came with it. However, the dessert was disappointing: very small and not hugely flavourful either. The staff were very polite and attentive.

The food and service here is amazing. For starters I had the baked mushrooms in a cheese sauce. The main I had a sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection and just melted in my mouth. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding which again was amazing. I would definitely go back and eat there again.

Whist in Reading for a day out we were looking for somewhere to eat and once I saw that they had crumble on the menu , i was sold. On entering we were greeted warmly by a manager and show to a table. Diego introduced himself to us as our waiter for the evening, and found us a nice bottle of fizz ( wedding aniversary) and a very ice bottle of Pinot Noir. Through out the evening we waited on brillently with a little surprise for our wedding aniversary, food was excellent ,steaks cooked to perfection, and crumble was delicious. Big thanks to all on the night from Diego who was exceptional to the chefs who prepared the food and the KP who is always forgotten but a key part of any good resturant. Big thank you and we will be back.

Wow. We ate here for Valentine’s Day, we ordered off of the Valentine’s Day menu. There was a huge variety, even thought it was a set menu. The food was great but omg the steak was incredible. I had the wheat fed streak and it was truly amazing, the favours and textures were outstanding and it was cooked to perfection. The whole experience was fab, we didn’t wait long for food even thought it was valentines day and the service was very attentive. Will definitely be coming back.

Wonderful meal from start to finish! This is a very clean and welcoming restaurant. There was a nice festive feeling in there this evening. Our starters were served quickly and were super fresh and tasty. The main course arrived not long after and again, every bit was cooked to perfection. All the staff were friendly and eager to help. I also saw the manager handle a very aggressive customer in such a calm, professional manner-very impressive and good to see a manager take ownership of the situation like that. Overall, highly recommend. Yes in the more expensive but the quality of everything is well worth it.

The front of house man was fairly rude when we arrived. Wasn’t exactly the warmest of welcomes. But the waiter Kris was very efficient and friendly. We didn’t wait long at all for our meals or drinks. The steaks were lovely and cooked perfectly. Also good portion size which was nice

Booked a company team meal for 8 people... Arrived and was directed to our table, the staff were lovely and overall we felt very welcomed, however, it sounded like a children's party (so much background noise, voices, shouting) in fact, it was SO hard to even hear the people sitting opposite me! Admittedly it didn't help the lads next to us were clearly getting drunk. Personally, I would have expected the staff to have noticed and politely asked them to respect other people in the restaurant. Being completely honest though that's not the main reason why I've provided 1 STAR - The waiter was actually so rude and unprofessional it actually really annoyed me! I ordered my STEAK along with everyone else which lets be honest, wasn't exactly cheap... all the food arrived at the same time which was fantastic - ONLY to find mine was stone COLD! I don't like to complain but considering the price of my STEAK costs more than 2 meals + drinks elsewhere, bottom line I wasn't HAPPY and called the waiter over to our table. Advised the waiter that my STEAK is COLD and his response was (It's meant to be like that sir!) Cut a long story short, the waiter argued with me at the table for about 5 minutes to which I replied: I've eaten at Miller & Carter in Basingstoke and know how this STEAK is severed, more to the point - I'm not happy with it! I asked the waiter WHY are you arguing with me which at that point the waiter looked at me and said (what do you want me to do - heat it up on the grill or make you a new one?) which shocked me and I said: I'm happy for you to warm it up if that's how the CHEF wishes to serve it back to me - at which point the waiter gets a little ***** and says (I'll just make you a new one). 2 minutes later the waiter returns to our table, leans down to my ear/side (so not may people can hear him) and quietly says (I'm really sorry sir, the chef advised the STEAK was cooked BLU which is not what you ordered and confirms why it was COLD). 10-15 minutes later, the waiter brings my new STEAK over to the table which was cooked to perfection - the ONLY downside was that I didn't now have enough time to eat it as we had a comedy event booked in Reading which was a real SHAME and a WASTE of MONEY!

The T-bone steak was tasty. Only, it wasn't as tender as I would want it. In addition, chunky chips would be a better option to serve this meal with. As a result, we didn't eat our fries because they were thin and it was a lot of work to pick up a hundred of them as they were breaking up.

Excellent steak on Father's Day. The Father's Day Special Tomohawk Steak was unavailable at 1.15pm !! Not a problem for me, as I wasn't having that anyway 😂. Our server was especially attentive and happy.

Had a great birthday meal for my partner here. Very attentive service. Food was excellent. The zinfandel rosé was sweet and delightful (highly recommended) plus they were able to send us a small birthday cake even though we didn't request anything in advance. The meal was a bit more on the expensive side as a 3 course meal with wine for two people was £92, however... the steak was fantastic and much better than anywhere else in Reading.

My booking was for a family group of 15 to celebrate my birthday. Our group were really well looked after by our waitress Nikol. Our food was served to all of us at the same time with everyone happy with their order. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.

Visited Thursday evening as part of a group of 8 for a colleagues leaving meal and to have been known to call M&C a posh Harvester without the salad bar I was pleasantly surprised. The service was great. The food albeit they didn't have a couple of the larger cuts of steak I wanted and no tomahawk, I was surprised by the quality of food and all customisable component of your meal. 1st time visiting this location and if I'm ever in Reading again will be happy to return again.
