As usual the Back of Beyond does an excellent job during the beer festival. A great selection on. Well done to Managers Josh, Kevin and Sam who were responsible for such a great selection. As many beers on as possible! Unfortunately this isn't always the case elsewhere.

Was really impressed with this spoons, been to leads before and this is one of the better ones. Despite being towards the end of the day the pub was very clean. There are loads of tables and plenty of space. There's the normal great spoons menu with something for everyone. Prices are very competitive and there are sometimes meal deals. Our food came quickly and was beautifully cooked or reheated! Definitely recommend this spoons.

Always enjoy popping in for a pint with BOB and a couple of meals from time to time. Atmosphere is great and have never been let down on the food or service! Absolutely no parking, but you can get away with poking your car at the retail park a short walk away for a couple hours 😉

We were pleasantly surprised by the very low prices and the quantity and quality of food they served us, with minimal wait. Very spacious and nicely decorated. We're definitely going back again.

Definitely worth the short walk out from the town centre. As ever Wetherspoons delivers with great food, reasonable prices and good service. I always use the App for ordering food & drink. I also like the choice of seating options with tables in small booths for those who like a little more privacy, standard tables and high tables with stools which I find very comfortable. There is also a large outside seating area extending around the side and back of the building. Only slight criticism is regarding the tiny sachets of mustard, need about six to get an adequate amount, some Wetherspoons put the mustard in bottles which makes it much easier.

Nice pub, was really busy but did find a seat for 6 of us. ordered via app and drinks came quickly. Foods nice also and great prices for both food and drink.

Good beer. Service was reasonable, unless you dare to inconvenience them by being present 15 minutes after last orders, in which case you get very aggressive bar staff getting shirty. Maybe this is normal but I’m not impressed to get heavy-handed staff after contributing good money to their takings. The difference between a managed pub and one owned by someone who cares about the long term effect of treating customers badly.

Previously a 4☆ rating from myself. 10 friends and family gathered to celebrate a 35th birthday at BOB'S. I would strongly advise to anyone else, choose any other venue. If you intend to sing happy birthday, prepare to be cut off at the bar!

A cavernous spoons, serving their usual fare, they have an exclusive beer, B.O.B' s yer uncle, brewed by local brewery Loddon. Also a very rare spoons with toilets on the ground floor!

We came here with my friends on June 7 at 8 pm and sat on the terrace. We ordered our drinks and our food. I immediately noticed that my sister-in-law was sitting at our next table with her friends. After a while, Ms. Duty Manager wanted to see the identity of my sister-in-law and her friends. actually she is 29 years old but they wanted to see physical identification but she couldn't show she. I said to the female manager that this woman is my sister-in-law, she is actually 29 years old. Anyway they did not accept this and my sister-in-law and her friends left the pub. Half an hour passed and I wanted to go to the bar and buy a beer, but the same woman duty manager said to me that I cannot serve you alcoholic beverages. When I asked why, she said because you are in the same tongs. I said that it is impossible, we are separate tables, I am 36 years old and my friends at my table all bought their new drinks and you didn't say anything to them. She kept quiet and said she couldn't give beer. So I asked duty Manager, is this your personal decision? she said yes too. I guess she didn't like me personally so he didn't give me a beer so nothing happened between us. I also work in a restaurant. It is very sad that an employee in a manager position does this . I understand that people may not be positive all the time, but she was very rude even though I spoke very kindly. Unfortunately, I couldn't drink while my other friends were drinking their drinks. No matter how well you cook , what reflects a business is the last step waiter or attendant . I wouldn't want to write such a comment for this pub because I love it here. but I don't want others to go through the same trouble.

This was a great pub to go drinking at, with a classic design for Reading including frames on the walls! The lighting and bar are pretty, me and my friend enjoyed a cocktail but they forgot to serve us initially until we asked where it was; seating is comfortable and cleanliness had been enforced.

Had a really nice time here, service was a bit slow considering how quiet it was but good prices, clean toilets, and the garden has had a major upgrade since my last visit.

Typical wetherspoons, we were going here for lunch as nothing else close enough to the job we were on. Staff nice and friendly. Had burgers and chips most days. Burgers were pretty good (gourmet heatwave burger) and chips tasted nice. Could do with more chips, especially for the price. I don't know why wetherspoons are always so tight with chip portions. Anyway, it was alright you know, give it a go.

Had drinks with friends at Back of Beyond. There is a buzz and a vibe to this place that makes you come alive, downside is there are almost no tables available so you have to wait for a while. The food is awesome and the price is very reasonable. There are four JD Weatherspoon in Reading and 8 in Berkshire, so be sure which you and your entourage agree that way you don't end up in 2 different locations like we did😉

Good spoons. We visited twice for brekkie & was very good each time.

Not a bad lunch. Ordered through the app which makes it hassle free, service was very quick, pleasantly surprised. Food wasn’t too bad, we had a mixed grill and a large mixed grill, the only downside was the portions on the large where a little less than you might usually expect, having said that for the price it was too bad and was quite filling. Would visit again if I was in the area.

Nice breakfast a bit greasy. Overall a nice atmosphere with a nice back yard. Also loads of options for beers and drinks.

Nice Pub with decent prices. I believe no other pub provides this cheap in food and drinks. The hospitality also good. Sitting River side is pleasant and enjoyable moment.

Just stopped here after walking along the canal and back, beautiful outside garden, great food and excellent service Garden overlooking Kenneth canal glorious

I love the app, it's super cheap and this is a much nicer pub than the one at the other end of town. Yes it gets rammed at the weekend, but that is for obvious reasons...you can't get 2 drinks for less than 7 pounds in many places in Reading! Staff are polite and the food was served quickly and politely as well. Large toilets with mirrors, slightly on the edge of town. I always come here if I can.

Excellent service and unfortunately for us this evening they had a major water leak. The manager kept us well informed and allowed us to continue to drink up our drinks. Lucky for us we just brought a round. We planned to eat but couldn't tonight so unable to give a review on the food. However we have never had a bad meal there. Hope your back up and running soon and see you again for that meal

All meals were nice bar the dry lasagne where it literally came slapped on the side of a massive plate , no side salad ever came. It didn't spoil the lunch and we had a giggle. Staff were lovely, price was good. Nice outside seating are by the river.

Went for a Burns Night supper - good value & included drink - running until Jan 26th. They have extended the garden area & I was happy to see some of it is non-smoking so will be good for the summer - way to cold now!

Traditional England Bar. Good place for you to gathering with friends. Food is average. The portion is big with reasonable price. The garden is closed for refurbishment works till 10th November.

Meet up here every 3 months or so with friends, always a good night out. Food isn't Michelin starred but is fine. The drinks are well priced. Pub was clean and tidy.

Ordered 2 meals and 2 drinks on the same order on the app. One drink arrived after around 2 minutes. 25 minutes later the food arrived and one of the drinks still hadn’t so I asked the lady behind the bar if it had been missed off the order if I can order another? I was then angrily asked can you see anyone else working behind the bar? At 3pm when there was no other customers at the bar! Horrific service. No wonder people are going elsewhere. Bland food and appalling customer service. We won’t be returning.

Large pub which was kept clean and tidy, with friendly staff members and the usual low prices for food and drink. Good selection of real ales and comfortable environment. Felt sorry for staff member who IDed a customer and got lots of verbal abuse, but they remained professional. Nicely managed pub.

Typical Wetherspoons pub. Reasonable/cheap prices and no nonsense options. Fast and easy to order at the bar or via App. Plenty of food and drink choices. Table was a bit messy as hadn't been cleaned after last customer. However the customer had made quite a lot of mess, so not staff at fault just inconsiderate customers.
