We went to Milk on Saturday evening January 22nd. We do go regularly, but have never taken the time to review, so here goes. Milk is one of the last bastions of Reading’s independent bar scene, specialising in rum & rum based cocktails, but using their excellent knowledge of both cocktails & spirits they can pretty make whatever it is you may fancy. They host great evenings & DJ nights playing a range of styles - check out their socials. The bar is always welcoming & I can totally recommend for couples & friends alike. Milk is a lovely venue, tucked away just off of Friar Street and a stone's throw from Reading station. Staff have always been extremely welcoming every time I've been in. A lot of care and thought has been put into their cocktails and menu, which is clear from how amazing each drink I've had there has been. Milk is definitely Reading's best and only independent cocktail bar, which is why so many people go back time and time again after their first visit.

I'm 40 and I got ID'd = 5 stars. My friend accidentally broke a glass and staff member VERY concerned that we NOT help clean it up = 5 stars. Yummy Cuban rum, yummy cocktails, yummy non-alcoholic options for our fair designated driver = 5 stars.

I love Milk bar. It's one of the truly unique spots in Reading. Inventive drinks with friendly and responsive service. I think my recollection is that they're vegan friendly too, they've got a bunch of different replacements for things like eggs and dairy products.

Staff were really friendly, drinks are a bit different to the norm and the venue is great. Would definitely come back. One of Reading's hidden gems

We loved it but it was a very random evening... We went on a Tuesday night to the comedy club... Artists come to try out new material and you never know what you're going to get The venue is fab... A shed holding on amongst the massive high rises going up around it It's got a great atmosphere and very friendly... It's actually a rum bar so some great cocktails... Happy hour was up till 7 Compere was really good... Very funny, he's been running the evening for 10 years Comedy is a personal thing so a couple of the acts weren't really for us but I still appreciate the art as I was married to a comic for 22 years We had a great night... Drinks were amazing, venue was great, compere superb and a few laughs on a Tuesday night was just what we needed

One of my favourite bars in Reading. A great atmosphere, nice staff and really good cocktails. Cocktails can be a little pricey but they taste amazing and are strong, so it balances out. I'd suggest booking for a Friday / Saturday night.

Easily the best cocktail bar in Reading. Staff is always friendly and available to help point you in the direction of a drink well suited to your individual taste.

The 5* for food is for drinks! I booked a table for my birthday celebrations. The atmosphere was great, though the live music was a bit disappointing! The staff and servers were polite, friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks, how they were made and recommendations for individual palettes. The drinks themselves were great. Presented well, and tasted fantastic. Definitely recommend for smaller groups!

Hung around this place for a decade or more. Tonight I was kicked out of the bar (politely) cause I drank too much -- let me say that this place is excellent and always was (back when it was "Afroba"). I recommend it a lot, there's hi-quality cocktail making, and decent music. Enjoy, and drink a little less than I did. We will be back :)

I’ve been to milk a few times now and the drinks are consistently excellent. After going to a lot of cocktail bars and making a few hundred cocktails myself I at least have something to compare against and it’s clear they know what they’re doing and use the best ingredients including many mixers they make themselves rather than off the shelf syrups. They also have a good selection of non alcoholic cocktails and great DJs. Prices are reasonable and the service is also very good.

Hidden gem is reading. This bar offers an amazing selection of cocktails (mostly rum based) and standard bar drinks. They also offer a good selection of foods. The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended place to visit.

Such a wonderful hidden gem of Reading. Great vibes, brilliant drinks. If you love rum and/or tikki drinks this is a wonderful place to check out! The non alcoholic drinks are nothing to sniff at either if you're the dd! And if you like local cheese you should definitely try the cheese board! Great little bar, cocktails are lovely, even do non alcoholic versions which was great as I was the designated driver. Nice staff and dealt with a disruptive customer quickly and discreetly. Would highly recommend.

I loved the atmosphere and the service, nice local touch to it. Staff are nice too, however drinks are totally worth it because of happy hour otherwise too expensive. Still highly recommended for their selection of drinks & for location.

Great decore with lots of flags and cases of rum + whiskies. The service was made that bit more interesting and enjoyable via Sam who gave me lots of information about the whiskies and really made the experience. I didn't know about this place but I'm glad that I do now

What an amazing little corner of the world. A small rustic building surrounded by new builds. It's full of character, personality and some of the best rums and bartenders around!! Milk will not dissapoint!!

Fabulous place, these guys are the be all and end all of cocktails in Reading. If you're in the area these guys will always make you feel accommodated and have an incredible selection to boot.

Great little bar, good selection of craft beers and plenty of rhum's to choose. Barman that was on last night (27th Feb) really knows his stuff too!

The cocktails at Milk are the best I've ever tasted, it's very hard to pick a favourite from the latest menu! The bar staff are wonderful and have been as helpful and friendly as ever since they opened after lockdown. Feel very lucky that this is in Reading ♥️

I’m apparently barred from going into Milk bar for my sister sending a drink back because they got it completely wrong and brought out the wrong drink. I was initially allowed in by the bouncer but as soon as I got to the bar I was met by a ‘oh I didn’t know it was you’ which as a customer was discriminatory in itself. I felt completely alienated in front of a packed place and was told the reasons which were ‘you cost the business money for sending your drinks back’ even though this wasn’t even me and was my sisters issue. I’m even starting to believe that this may be even racially motivated and that Connie the bar manager does not like me or my ‘kind’ Disgusting service and I will never go back or recommend this bar to any of my friends or family. DO NOT UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SERVED BY PRETENTIOUS, RACIALLY MOTIVATED POWER HUNGRY PEOPLE. Namely Connie.

Crazy Sunday evening cocktails. All delicious, but at the pricier end of the scale. Lovely, quaint venue, but is located upstairs & the stairs might be a challenge after a few too many!! 🥴
