Staying for one night here for the first time, and have pre planned two more visits for later in the month. Upon arrival I paid £15 for overnight parking via the app that is advertised on signs outside. When I checked in there was a parking validation screen, and apparently I could have gotten the parking for half of the price. I wish I knew! I mentioned this in conversation to the guy on reception (his name escapes me) and to make up for my mistake he gave me a free breakfast for the next day, which was a really nice gesture. I won’t make this same mistake on my next two stays! The spa was decent. It has a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and a pool. The changing rooms have showers, toilets, lockers and a swimsuit dryer. ,are sure to bring a padlock for the locker though. The rooms decor is great and cozy. The bed is a super king (I think) so ha loads of space. You get a selection of teas, coffees, and even hot chocolate in the room, and some nice smelling shower gel, shampoo and body lotion. There is only one problem I have with this hotel and it’s only partially the hotels fault, and that is the noise. I could hear people talking in the next room. And my room was on the east side, looking over the bridge and the noise of traffic is insane. I swear there was street racing going on until the early hours and I almost seen a crash on the roundabout from it. Obviously the hotel can’t control the idiot racers, but I do also think that the rooms aren’t soundproofed enough in general so it’s something that could be improved. I had the breakfast in the main restaurant the next morning. It was £19 per person and was a buffet. It had a great selection of meats, cheeses and pastries for continental, as well as all of the different jams etc. And also your standard English breakfast items. In all, aside from the noise it was a great hotel. I am hoping that on my next two visits I get a room at the opposite side of the hotel so I am away from the road. Update from stay no.2 - Largely the same experience. And whilst there didn't seem to be any street racing going on there is still a large number of people revving their cars and speeding about causing just as much noise as before. Room was quite similar to before only slightly smaller and more dated- with plenty of wear and tear to see. I've stayed in much worse rooms though. Update from Stay No.3 - I took the team up on the room upgrade that they very kindly offered for my review. This time I was in room 203 - I liked the view a lot better here! The room decor may be different.... I cannot remember the other rooms very well but I am pretty sure this room is a bit darker which gives it a cosier feel. Aside from that there is a Nespresso coffee machine with 2 pods included. I don't know how much the the upgrade would be but I guess all you are getting is the two coffee pods. It's worth noting that there was some splashes of something on the wall in the bathroom, at first I thought it was blood but upon further inspection I don't think it was. Or at least I wasn't sure! The big thing for me personally was how much quieter it is on this side of the hotel. I sat all evening with the window open and only heard one car off in the distance. MUCH MUCH better here! Anyway I am back in the area in a few weeks and will likely come back here. I will also update my photos to show the room on Stay No.3.

Awesome place to have some time away from home and work life, location is ideal if you are travelling by train or car. Offers great service, good food, reasonable price and friendly staff. We got the service with breakfast and it's all great as well. Enjoyed sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and swimming pool. We paid for full body treatment massage. The walk from the back of the hotel is lovely and it connects well to where your are, spacious carpark as well. Room we stayed in is clean and well maintained and have no complaints. Worth the money, had great time here.

We stayed for a short break, from start to finish the staff were welcoming and professional. The room was clean and well presented with a lovely view. Dining experience was great with friendly wait staff who couldn't do enough for us! Pool was clean and inviting with clean changing rooms. All in all and extremely relaxing and calm experience, would come back again and would highly recommend!!!!

Probably one of the best hotels in Reading right next to the Thames River where you can go for a great walk or jog. Friendly and quick front desk staff. I had the breakfast buffet which was 9 pounds if you purchased it with your room. Breakfast buffet was fantastic with excellent ham, large sausages, blood sausages, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, cereal, juice, coffee, etc. Highly recommended the breakfast buffet.

Absolutely faultless. Booked a premium room for my birthday this weekend. Lovely room, clean, comfy bed, nice bedding! Swimming pool, 2 saunas, and a jacuzzi, gym all lovely and clean! Had a stunning, delicious dinner and lovely breakfast! Every staff member was polite, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Then, to end the trip with an amazing massage from Sarah! Highly recommended 👌 Had a stunning view of the river from my window and complimentary glass of prosseco for my birthday too! Thank you, and I will definitely be back!

Stayed here for work, not impressed at all, the room was clean hence the two stars but the room was extremely tired, loose fixtures and fittings the shower head needs replacing the shower curtain was replaced for a new one during my stay as the old one was mouldy. The staff aren’t the most helpful either. Breakfast there is no introduction from the staff like you would get from other hotels. Eg where everything is and if you’ve had breakfast there before etc. there is no room service menu either the qr code is no longer in use, when I asked at reception they said they don’t give out menus. The price of the rooms you’d expect a better quality than this

I had to change rooms because the heating in my room stopped working. This was only after demanding a different room when a large plug in electric heater was forced on me. There was also water damage around the light in the entrance to room (222), which surely is a safety hazard. Apart from this, the room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable, and the hotel is situated in picturesque surroundings. My experience here definitely made me not want to return.

Well placed for getting into either the centre of Reading or Thames Valley Park. Very attentive staff at the desk (thanks Sarah) and the restaurant staff were quick to serve. They did point out that one of the lifts is out of order, which helps. I'm only dropping to a 4 on rooms as a few minor points that I raised (toilet running slow, but was fixed, steam room was not working, and the lift. Overall the hotel is beginning to look a little tired. Still a great hotel and I hope 2024 will allow them to freshen up a bit.

The Crown Plaza is a wonderful hotel looking over the River Thames with local pathways for walks or indulge yourself in the Revive gym and spa where you can relax in the sauna, steam room or jacuzzi. The swimming pool is also a lovely place to relax. The food and staff are lovely and the food is great.

I wasn't using the hotel but to stay in. I was having a treatment with I Am Mine Therapy. It was great. They have ample parking. It's a good location. The hotel looks well kept, clean and tidy. The staff within the hotel and gym are happy and helpful.

I had a Business trip visit here. First impressions on the outside it looks dated and tired, but inside it is very modern. Room was nice and it had biscuits and little bottles of soap which is something that a lot of hotels have stopped. It was a large bed and spacious tidy modern room with a bath so I was happy. The food and bar was free so I cannot comment on pricing but it was okay. Breakfast again was okay with a good selection. The hotel backs onto the Thames which gives it a little bit of extra appeal. Overall I would stay again but not at my own expense I'll let my company pick up the bill. The creepy pictures on the wall above the bed were the only gripe I had, shadowy figures peering over me as I slept lol.

I used to live in Reading and now stop here a couple of nights a couple of times a year and the Crowne Plaza is my favorite place to stay. The hotel is quite big, but doesn't feel busy, and unlike most of the hotels around town feels quite spacious. The lobby, bar and restaurant area are big and (when its warm enough) open up to the outside seating area and creates a nice indoor-outdoor feeling which makes the place feel even bigger. The hotel location, on the river, is quite peaceful. Its close enough to walk into town which takes about 15 minutes, or to go for a walk by the Thames. The 'normal' rooms are OK, but if you can try to get one of the rooms with a balcony. The outside area make the rooms feel much bigger. I'm staying in one of the suites with a balcony at the moment, and it is perfect for a short stay. It is plenty big enough, has a good size desk for working, and accommodate 2 or 3 people easily. Food and the bar are good. The bar rarely seems to get busy except when there is an event and serves a number of normal lagers and some craft beers. There's also a swimming pool, gym, and sauna. The gym was refurbished in 2023 and the equipment is excellent quality. Overall, the hotel is a great place to stay. The staff are friendly and relaxed, and service has been good everywhere I've been. There is parking just outside the hotel, and a larger car park just around the side. This will cost you UK15 per night on top of your room charge.

Can only book through central reservations. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Decor is dated but service was friendly. Didn't like paying an extra £15 a day parking. Location by the river and close to town was good. Can walk over the bridge to Caversham for quieter area of coffee shops and Riverside walks.

Great location, easy access to the train station. Service and Staff was superb. Amazing breakfast. View from the balcony over the river Thames was idyllic. Will definitely stay again.

Me and my partner stayed for 2 nights and it is really a lovely hotel!! ❤️❤️ The only thing I didn't like was the single pain windows as was cold in our room can feel the breeze more then the heater but other then that everything was great. If you stay you get access to the gym swimming pool sauna jacuzzi and steam room Also if you go out the back of the hotel you will be greeted by loads of swans 😍 never seen so many before in 1 place We had a great time loads of things to do on the doorstep. The oracle shopping centre is 8 minutes by car away and there is so many shops inside and out. Also lovely places to walk around down the river and so many restaurants to eat out in. Also museums to go see that was a nice trip out And also they have the winter wonderland reading on at the moment which is great for the kids or the big kids 😜

Room was very comfortable and the staff on the reception desk were very friendly and helpful. However, breakfast both mornings felt understaffed. No one to offer you tea or coffee ( you get it yourself), the tables were not set completely - some had salt, some had pepper and some had both. The buffet hot breakfast was good but the continental breakfast was lacking. Choice of yoghurts was poor. I did expect more from this hotel.

I have arranged my business meeting in this hotel several times, either weekdays or weekends, morning or evening. I found the mid-day weekdays are great time to sit in a corner and doing some work or having a one to one meeting. The staff are so attentive and friendly. I also tried the food and soft drinks on different occasions. The quality and service is great.

Had an overnight stay to use a gift voucher, with the intention of using the spa which unfortunately didn't happen. The rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. The bar in the lobby had a great selection of hot food, and a lovely view of Caversham Pier and the swans on the Thames. The spa did look nice, and children can use the facility during certain times. Friendly staff and a central location.

We visited the hotel with a Red Letter days voucher. Overall great experience. Very pleased with the room - comfortable and quiet. The swimming pool and spa facilities were also great. Breakfast was average. The main downside was the parking, which is charged at £15 per night.

A very nice hotel with some rooms having a view of the River. The junior sweet is large with separate bed room and living space. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower. The balcony is great in the suite to sit, relax and look at the river. To get in to Reading is about 5 to 10 minutes walk.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel. The services is very kind and ready to help and do their best in any situation. The rooms, sauna and pool are really clean and comfortable. But the best part of our stay were the breakfast buffet and the exquisite dinner at the hotel restaurant. I highly recommend a stay at this hotel!!

I lived 5 years in Reading, I never been to this hotel before but I must confess, I loved it and now, I regret I didn’t book earlier. The hotel is 10 minutes away from the train station but still close to local restaurants/pubs. Smooth check-in and fast check-out as well. We had a meal at the restaurant/meeting room and had few drinks at the bar. Federica & Bruno were super friendly and efficient. Thank you both guys. Definitely recommended and I hope to come back soon here

First impressions were good - the hotel has a smallish car park (mostly full) and an overflow car park which is public (paid). Parking is £15 which is on the steeper side. The check in was fine and the family room was as expected with a sofa bed and a cot bed. However, neither bed was particularly comfortable (you could feel the springs). The breakfast (for £10/adult) was very good. Staff were friendly. All in all, a decent enough option. Location is not too far from the town.

Travelled for a small break for pregnant wife's birthday. Got given a room which had no view at all apart from the roof of the hotel. Room was okay. Pool and Jacuzzi were nice. Breakfast is standard. Parking is £15 a night which is a joke and I did not use their parking facilities. Got charged for an already paid stay as it was a Red Letter Day booking so had to revisit hotel before leaving Reading as staff didn't want to help over the phone. Afternoon tea was nice although was told to come at 12:30 but didn't get acknowledged until 13:20 which then runined the rest of our day as everything else ran too late to do. There was an elderly waiter who was very apologetic and was an absolute gentleman. Have to give credit where due. Asked if we could extend as we're already here and would be easier for my pregnant wife to spend another night here rather than book another location and travel, the staff outright refused even though we said we'd be willing to pay around £100 which is definitely not even worth the price and no the hotel wasn't fully booked out as they had rooms avaliable online for ridiculous prices. They didn't accept and moved on somewhere else. Looks like they'd rather not have anyone than an already paying customer. Won't recommend or return. Overall a generous 2/5.

I did not stay at the hotel, but went in to grab a coffee and sat on the terrace by the river. What an amazing change! The outside looks much more appealing, clean, friendly staff and pleasant location. I will definitely go again, maybe for a evening drink next time.

This hotel is much less pampered and modern than the website would have you believe. The rooms and the hotel in general could do with a freshening up but also robes and slippers given you have a spa would be a nice touch. The staff were polite, which is a plus. Would visit again for work, not for a weekend away.
