Our GP referred my Mum to the RBH A&E department at 1530 yesterday for an urgent assessment - we left at 0230. The experience was absolutely appalling not to mention concerning. My Mum suffers with heart failure and other life changing illnesses. I had to ask four times over a three hour period for her heart medication, each time being told it was on it’s way - it never arrived. The hospital eventually said they didn’t have it to hand. Admittedly, A&E was at capacity, but this should be expected on a Friday and planned for in advance. We witnessed a poor woman have a seizure whilst waiting. There was absolutely no sense of urgency to assist her and one employee wearing green scrubs even looked on smirking which seemed bizarre given the circumstances. Other people in the waiting room came to her aid. A wheelchair user gave the family her own pillow for the woman’s head. Another man lay on the floor in agony for hours, often vomiting and nobody checked on him. The waiting area often smelt of smoke due to the smokers standing at the entrance door. The toilets were filthy and only received brief attention some six hours after our arrival. The casualty journey needs reviewing. There is too much unnecessary and pointless interactions (when you get them) and casualties presenting higher risk conditions should be seen before those with conditions that could be treated at home. The medical staff seemed overstretched and stressed, but that’s no defence for not getting the basics right. My Mum was asked three times if she’s normally fit and well which was baffling given that her medical notes and history were provided several times suggesting otherwise. On two occasions, two Consultants assumed my mum was somebody else. The confusion, no doubt was largely down to their poor record keeping. Personal casualty details were scribbled down on blank pieces of paper for all to see. Prior to leaving we were given some medication by a Consultant. Twenty minutes later a Staff Nurse issued us with the same medication. We explained we had already received it and a dose had been taken. She asked who had issued it and told us it hadn’t been signed out. She also pointed out my Mum’s name wasn’t even on the box. At times it felt like we were in a hospital in a third world country. It was shambolic from start to finish. The Clinic Lead proudly displays the hospitals core values (compassion, aspirational, resourceful, excellent) everywhere, which only adds insult to injury when it’s clear for all to see that they aren’t being delivered. I hope improvements are made before/if we ever have to return to the RBH.

I am going to review about the recent INTERVIEW experience that I had. I am an International qualified nurse. I did have an online interview with them. It went well and I enjoyed talking to them. I had 8 questions, 4 of which was about general questions and the remaining 4 was about scenarios in the practice. I passed the interview but I chose not to pursue, as I am with my partner who was an interviewee as well but unfortunately didn't pass the interview. I was thinking about talking to them if they'll give her a chance but my agency told me that they can't ask the Trust to do that. So the dream to work with RBH now is not gonna happen. But still, thank you to the staff whom I had the interview with. They are nice and professional.

6 yr old daughter has an infection in her ankle. Arrived at A&E at 6pm, she wasn't admitted until 10.5 hours later. 10.5 hours sitting in waiting room !! Completing tests one after the other rather than in tandem to save time. No sense of urgency, not a whole lot of empathy, and just shocking service. Daughter was admitted for a week with this. Ultrasounds, MRI scan (under general anesthetic), multiple bloods, anti biotics for 3 days given IV and orally. Finally discharged on a Sunday at 7pm and no pharmacy has the medicine they have written, drove round to 4 in total. Ended up at hospital and took a further 3 hours to get medicine after many a heated conversation. For the shambolic service you are provided, why would we want to pay more for this with no expectation of any improvement. Cant day avoid as we dont have a choice and their lies the problem. No competition.

Absolutely disappointed by the facility. Place was built with no empathy towards patients and visitors! Parking is expensive and always full - forcing families to separate! There no mobile signals and internet - leaving loved ones in distress! Once you are inside you almost lose touch from outside world! Can’t update family and friends on the patient. This feedback is not for the hardworking friendly staff it is for the facility and management! Very disappointed

It is six months since I was discharged Royal Berkshire Hospital, in particular, Loddon Ward, (including ICU). Let not the time lapse distract from the sincerity of my heartfelt, deepest gratitude to you. Your care and attention, often exceeded the call of duty. Especially the kindness shown to me by the nurses in ICU, the doctors and all the support staff. Not forgetting the kind lady who brought me food everyday. Always lingering to urge me to eat a few more morsels to get better. When I was admitted, I was in a very poor condition. I was suffering from a serious and often fatal respiratory infection. I contracted the infection from a holiday abroad that went awry. Words seem inadequate to express my gratitude. Thank you!

I am writing this letter to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with the level of care and professionalism I experienced during my recent visit to your emergency room on October 29, 2023. This unfortunate incident has left me deeply dissatisfied and concerned about the quality of service provided at your facility. On the evening of October 29, 2023, at approximately 8:00 PM, I sought medical attention at your emergency room due to a severe illness that has been significantly affecting my daily life. I was in distress and seeking help to address my health issues promptly. However, my experience at your facility was nothing short of disheartening. The medical staff, particularly a nurse on duty, displayed an unprofessional and disrespectful attitude. I was shocked by the nurse's inappropriate behavior, as she not only failed to conduct a thorough examination but also exhibited an unfounded animosity towards me. Her demeanor was both unkind and unbecoming of a medical professional, and it was evident that she was not treating me with the care and respect that any patient deserves. Furthermore, the nurse informed me that she had booked an appointment for me with a GP at Broad Mall. Trusting her word, I diligently followed her instructions and arrived at the GP's office the following day. To my utter dismay, the receptionist at the GP's office informed me that there was no appointment scheduled for me. This misinformation caused me significant inconvenience and a wasted trip. I must emphasize my profound disappointment in the care provided at your facility and the unprofessional conduct of your staff. Patients who seek medical assistance during emergencies are vulnerable and in need of urgent care, and it is vital that they are treated with the utmost compassion and respect. I sincerely hope that this complaint serves as an opportunity for your institution to reflect on the standard of care you offer and to address the unprofessional behavior exhibited by your staff. I expect a thorough investigation into this matter and appropriate action taken to ensure that such incidents do not reoccur, thus upholding the dignity and respect patients deserve. I trust that you will take this matter seriously and act promptly to rectify the situation. If necessary, I am willing to provide any additional information to assist in the investigation of this incident. Yours sincerely, Talip Yaldaz

I had an xray done a couple of weeks ago due to having a cough for about 8 weeks three days later got results was told they had found a shadow on my lung which as I'm sure people can appreciate is terrifying I needed urgent ct scan which I had Sunday last week I was told the results will take 3 days . This was a complete lie keep getting told different information I'm still waiting on results I phoned earlier and was told that they would contact ct I then rang this afternoon only to discover they were only going to message them if they hadn't heard by midday it was past midday wouldn't recommend this department

I don’t have words to say how grateful I am, to all of the members I meet in Reading Hospital. From the 999, to Ambulance Crew Members, to the A&E doctors and Nurses ,and not last to the acute medial unite. Every person I meet in here was friendly, easy to talk to and very supportive, even tho clearly there were very busy. I personally think they definitely deserve more respect and certainly more additional remuneration. It was Christmas Eve when I arrived and they make me feel like a part of family with their kindness. I wold like to thank everyone, the catering team, cleaning team, health careers, Nurses, Doctors and admin team. I do not remember many names and apologies about that but I would like to mention Gabriela Cimpeanu, Ade from A&E, Jessica, Nurse from Zimbabwe and everyone for their outstanding level of care. I heard a lot of negative comments about hospital, however my personal experience in here was amazing. I can now certainly say that they are Angels on the Earth and tell everyone who reads my comment , if you can help them in any way , at least give them the respect they deserve. I’ll finish my comment by saying well done Acute Medical Unit. Well done NHS. Thank you all 🙏

My daughter had a routine eye test, the optician found an abnormality that they were very concerned with and told us to go to A&E immediately. Reception staff were frosty to say the least, asking why we were there and reacting in a disgruntled fashion when I informed them we were referred by our optician and had a referral letter, said letter by this point had been scanned/copied by hospital staff at least twice. We were bounced from department to department, clinician to clinician. We were eventually told that an emergency appointment would be raised within two weeks, we are still waiting for an appointment over 7 weeks later, (zero communication from them whatsoever)despite calling on several occasions. Overall the staff were unwelcoming and uncaring, they made you feel you were wasting their time. Such an inadequate service sadly isn't an isolated incident, in 2020 I found a lump in my breast, my results were lost and I waited just over 3 months to receive them, despite me chasing it up. It appears the admin needs a massive overhaul overall. Covid is no excuse for incompetence.

Referred to the Breast clinic by my Dr and given an appt with two weeks. Arrived at the Breast clinic and seen within minutes of arriving by the loveliest nurses who really put me at ease. I was then sent for a mammogram and again was seen within minutes of arriving by another lovely clinician. My results were then given to the Consultant (also lovely) to check who then came straight out to give me my results. The whole process took just over half an hour. I can’t praise them enough. Fabulous service and I feel we are very lucky to have it.

The staff on Burghfield Ward were outstanding in taking care of my 92 year old mother who was extremely ill from a heart attack, pneumonia and a viral infection. Services were clearly stretched but somehow she received the critical care she needed in an professional and expertly co-ordinated manner at every level from the tea trolly through to the nursing and occupational health staff and specialists. I'm immensely grateful for the level of care she received, thank you Burghfield and Royal Berkshire.

The postpartum care is shocking. I’ve never felt so unhappy and disappointment in the care I received after birth. The midwives in the unit were terribly slow to respond to my calls, some were very unhelpful and the staff always avoided eye contact at the reception desk. Not to mention the continuous gossip conversations that they had complaining about patients. Very unprofessional and made my post-birth experience one that made me never want to give birth there again.

FAO C.Bower (Matron ED) : Nurse A.Cox (Zone F) was absolutely phenomenal when my partner and I had to go to A&E at Royal Berkshire Hospital on Monday (29.05.23) just gone. Not just with us, but managing the entire zone. Her management skills, empathy, approach, caring nature and knowledge is a true testament to her experience and your hospital. Such a talent with a world of knowledge and experience. Thank you Mrs Cox! We are truly grateful.

Terrible A&E service. Pre the covid restrictions being dropped they failed to follow their own notice on the reception door of asking patients for covid test results. No covid and non covid separated areas for waiting. Clinically vulnerable patients made to sit outside the doors in the rain and cold for hours. No equipment available for doctors in the bed bays as no blood pressure machines, EGC monitors or even basic suction or eye exam equipment in any bays and no portable equipment either just a bed and a curtain severely under resourced with equipment and staff. Patients not allowed to stay on the bed just sent back to waiting areas after any assessments. Only one ECG machine available in the whole assessment unit as the only ECG machine is in triage. Staff drinking energy drinks slumped over their desks when in triage. No tests or equipment available to assess anyone once "seen". Test results from triage to Dr get lost as a result of the lack of equipment which prevents Drs from running their own test.

Have tried to book a physio appointment with RBH , who I am under for the last , three, days Fri, Mon, Tuesday. If you ring It direct, there is no ring tone, and no one answers. If you go through the operator ( after checking the number is correct) it rings, but no one answers. Then even funnier is when the operator puts you through to the complainants department, no one answers!😂. It just sums up the broken NHS. Shocking , have no given up physio. Let’s throw another few billion 💰into this dated Dino 🦕.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the quality of care and service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. My recent visit to the hospital was nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share my experience with you in the hope that something can be done to improve the situation. Firstly, the wait times at the hospital are insanely long. I had to wait for almost five hours just to get a simple blood test done, and this is completely unacceptable. There seemed to be a severe shortage of staff, and patients were left waiting for hours on end with no explanation or apology. But what was even worse than the long wait was the cold and insensitive behavior of some of the hospital employees. I felt like I was just another number to them, and they showed no empathy or concern for my well-being. It was clear that they were overworked and stressed, but that is no excuse for treating patients with such indifference. I understand that working in a hospital can be challenging, but patients should not have to suffer because of poor management or lack of resources. I hope that you will take my complaint seriously and take steps to improve the quality of care and service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

I have had the best care and the worst care at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. The best: My life was saved. I received the very best treatment possible and their aftercare in relation to that, in the form of regular blood testing and specialist care has been nothing short of amazing. The worst: I have been spoken to like dirt in my own home by a female paramedic who ordered me to go and sit in the garden because she said I was 'talking for my mother' and that I was 'not helping.' My mother had suffered a stroke, was incoherent, and I was notifying them of what had occurred because she wasn't at that time able to communicate effectively on her own. Another female paramedic shouted me down because my opinion differed from hers. She was highly aggressive and unpleasant. Two male paramedics who chatted among themselves, while I was in a highly emotional state and who showed a complete lack of humanity towards me. Cold, hard, and callous behaviour. In a follow-up meeting following my stay in the hospital, I expressed that I felt very fortunate to be alive, that my life is now markedly different, and for the better as I now view life as precious and try not to waste a single second of it. That it has lifted me from depression and anxiety. My enthusiasm was labelled as 'hypermania', and shortly thereafter, a man forced himself into my home (I did not invite him in) where I had to give an account of my 'behaviour' as it was 'concerning' and I was offered a meeting with a psychologist or psychiatrist but that it was up to me whether I opted for this service or not. I politely declined, and he became sarcastic and unpleasant. I spoke to PALS (Patient Advisory Liaison Service) about this experience, which I raised informally, not as an official complaint, and the NHS closed its ranks. I was sent a very unpleasant letter back, which minimised my concerns and which made them out to be doing all they could to assist me. They closed me down completely. So, to cut a long story short. They saved my life and then seemed surprised it has had a positive impact on me. That I need to explain why I now feel as grateful as I do in relation to still being vertical. And that an enthusiastic attitude towards being alive could be labelled as a psychological condition that needs investigating. What the NHS does the best by far is closing ranks and minimising legitimate patient concerns, which it views as unwarranted criticism. It's a shame there are these bad actors connected to the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS services because it detracts from the vast majority of staff who possess great empathy and compassion and who care passionately about what they do.

Incredibly pleased with my treatment. I attended minor injuries and was quickly triaged to be diagnosed with a broken ankle. It took a little time, but they got me into an overnight bed and managed to get me scheduled for a surgical repair the next day. All staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. I was pleasantly surprised that I could receive the treatment so quickly and was reassured by staff every step of the way. There was a high number of patients at the hospital, so I was very thankful that the doctors managed to assess and discharge me the day after my surgery. I cannot thank the staff at Royal Berkshire Hospital enough for their exemplary care. Thank you for repairing my ankle.

London on land donated by Henry Addington, 1st Viscount Sidmouth, a local resident and former Prime Minister. The hospital was built by local architect and builder Henry Bryant, who won a design competition. King William IV took great care of the hospital before it was built, and as a result, his arms appeared on the central pedestal, although he died before the hospital opened. The hospital's first patron was William's niece and successor, Queen Victoria. [2] [3] In the 1860s, the original building was extended with east and west wings designed by Joseph Morris. In the 1880s a new chapel was added to the rear of the main building, along with tall side wings. Both the chapel and side wings were also designed by Morris. [2] [3] In 1993, the NHS Trust of Royal Berkshire and Battle Hospitals was formed to manage both Royal Berkshire Hospital and Battle Hospital, the city's other general hospital. On February 24, 2006, the Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, inaugurated the new buildings of the Royal Berkshire Hospital. This was to celebrate the completion of an eight-year project to move the services of Battle Hospital to the Royal Berkshire Hospital site. In August of the same year, the trust became the NHS Foundation Trust under the name Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, reflecting its new status and the closure of Battle Hospital. [3] [4] In 2008, the hospital was awarded "Excellent" for its use of resources and "Good" for the quality of its services in the annual Health Care Committee's Annual Health Examination of All Hospitals within the National Health Service. The Accident and Emergency Department is always one of the most efficient in the country, with more than 99% of patients being examined and treated, admitted or discharged from hospital within four hours. [5] [6] In August 2010, it was reported that the number of hospital posts would be reduced by 600, from a total of around 4,000, to achieve a savings of £60 million. In October 2013, as part of a screening process by the Care Quality Commission, based on existing data and intended to be used in prioritizing inspections, the Trust was placed in the highest risk category. [7] [8] [9] On 5 March 2020, a patient at the Royal Berkshire Hospital had the UK's first confirmed death from the COVID-19 pandemic. [10] In August 2020, the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading trialed an emergency department for the elderly and frail. [11] In November 2021, the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading began consulting the local community about a major redevelopment of the existing hospital or alternatively an entirely new development on a different site, to ensure that future planning and developments would cover everyone's needs. Doctors and surgeons are excellent. Admin staff very helpful. The only let down is some nurses seem to think they know it all and give you bad advice or unprofessional opinions. One nurse also didn't listen properly, as I had repeat almost everything I said three or four times.

Had a really positive experience at the Minor Injury Clinic. My wife fell and had clearly hurt her elbow. A&E was very full but she was immediately sent to the Minor Injury Clinic which was much less busy. She was seen by a triage nurse within minutes. Then by a nurse practitioner who referred her for an x-ray. In total she was there for less an hour. The receptionist at the Clinic was superb. He was friendly, cheerful efficient and a great personality.

They are not and will not be doing dental x-rays for the foreseeable future. Would've been helpful to know that before I wasted my time going there, maybe they should start answering their phones. You have to go to the West Berkshire Community Hospital 40 mins away for it instead.

Visited A&E on 12th October. An orthopaedic registrar was consulted before I was told to go there, also a letter was e-mailed to them. I arrived at 1530 and triaged about 40 minutes later when I was told that the ortho team had been told I was there. Was finally seen by a doctor at 9.30pm. He said he would give me meds to take away. A I asked at reception twice about the meds, the second time I was told 'that team is not ours!" with no offer to find out what was happening to them. I finally gave up and left at 10.45pm without the meds. Getting on for 71/2 hours waiting, in all this time the two toilets were not cleaned, the floor became more messy and there were plenty of patients either not wearing masks or wearing them incorrectly. This also applied to a few staff. Also no social distancing. Overall not a pleasant experience. The only advantage was that from 1730 the car parking on the street became free, staring again at 0800.

I have been in and out for my husband last two years and used renal and eye clinic frequently. It was shocking to me to see such caring staff and always being kind to my husband as well as to me. In the past NHS experience has always been appalling. This hospital has doctors and staff ( everyone including porters, receptionists, volunteers, buggy drivers, nurses, etc) very empathetic. No arrogance. Always ready to help. Accommodate personalized treatment. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you ROYAL BERKSHIRE HOSPITAL for showing there are still good people in NHS who care for people.

Amazing - so grateful for the kindness and care shown by all the staff here, even when rushed off their feet. I've been on Dorrell Ward for 2 nights now and they really have been fantastic. Thank you so much Dorrell Ward!

I find it strange that a big towns main hospital is in the town centre, even more so that they keep investing into maintenance and new buildings. Parking is awful and not cheap. The place itself is a maze but the staff have been lovely however standards of general care have been mixed.

Took our year old granddaughter to A and E today with a serious forehead wound after a fall. Saw two excellent experienced wound/ nurse practitioners ( Sarah and Gen) who dealt with baby Ada kindly and professionally. Excellent service and care. As an NHS medical professional myself with doubts about the NHS , this was as good a service as one would expect anywhere. Well done RBH and thank you to all the nice people we met today.

I had my baby last year at RBH and the staff made the experience wonderful. Don't get me wrong, giving birth is painful and scary! But the midwifes and everyone there is sooooo nice and patient, I felt so well supported. Appalling service, appalling after care, no information given, no replies to emails, team on the phone are rude and completely unhelpful. Physiotherapist is very unhappy with the surgery. My poor husband can barely use his arm but for some reason he has been signed but to a physically demanding job! His Physiotherapist is really unhappy that he's been signed back to work and advised we contact the consultant asap, well we cant because no one replies. His check up was due in September but they've pushed the appointment back to OCTOBER even after we have raised concerns!! No one even saw him to check his arm before signing him back to work. Disgusted!! Would avoid this hospital at all costs!! If we don't receive help soon we will be seeking legal advice

Took a relative for a check up. Thaught there would have been a bit of a wait wasnt too bad just over an hour. Nice clinic gave tea coffee or water with a biscuit

Clean and pretty modern. Great volunteers helping to find the way around. They even have patients transporting carts for less abled.

Working for the nhs was alright unfortunately with pay roll 2 days work of work I wasn't paid at all after months of chasing this up still hasn't came thru. I had to leave the nhs after having really bad back problems that now restricts me from heavy lifting for life. So that left me to quit as my job involves manual handling. Since leaving in feb I still havnt been paid for the 2 days and still having really bad back problems

I called Ambulance service for myself on 14/08/2023 as I have been suffering with mental health, initially the the first ambulance service come at 12AM decided to knock on my neighbour door to check if I was actually ill apparently and left. Then after me complain about how poor the environment I live is and that’s my neighbour usually talks to the ambulance in the window before actually assessing my physical health then my neighbour decided to call the ambulance for me. This kind of behaviour has been happening every time I attempt to call the ambulance.

The AandE is very run down however the staff are doing there best and have helped us as a family out several times I think like every hospital they are stretched and unfortunately wait times are long.

Absolutely fabulous staff at A&E this afternoon. From arriving to leaving they couldn't have been more helpful.

I had a very good experience as a patient at this hospital. The ward was clean and the staff were professional and friendly. I get tired of reading bad reviews about the NHS. It is a stretched service, free for all and often abused by users. It is Central Government which has made cuts to the services, which comes as no surprise given the neo liberal policies so aggressively pursued by the Conservatives.

Stayed in there for 2 nights and 3 days. The service in the reception (especially the checking out which took me almost the whole day) is extremely slow however the meals were super good and the rooms were very comfy. Also the staff was friendly which made me happy during my stay.

Ward Staff superb , caring and kindly. Otherwise., the actual management and running of the place is farcical and the facilities somewhat reminiscent of two centuries ago. The worst experience I have had as an inpatient in decades - and I have had a LOT!

The current situation appears to be an excuse for poor attention to basic needs of care.

My son born in this hospital and they Didn’t look after him well and now we have problem about it which effect him on the rest of his life! Also even if I prayed for them to change my sheet ,they just left me there dirty! When I went to get some advice from nurses, they were answering rude just after a while or we had to wait so long for help and then they were just turning theirs eyes (saying:what a stupid mum) I’m very disappointed and angry of the birth clinic! The rest, like diabetes clinic is fantastic,Cos they were looking after me and my baby very well!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! The care by all the staff on Marsh ward, DAU, TC, Buscot and Iffley ward has been exceptional. I cannot name them individually as there are so many of them but as a whole this is what great "Teamwork" looks like. Prior to giving birth to my daughter I was in/out of RBH 6-7 times in 5 weeks due to issues relating to the pregnancy. If it wasnt for the patience and understanding from the staff that looked after me, my anxiety and stress would definitely have been alot worse. They never made me feel that I was a burden and knew exactly how to handle my situation on each visit. I will never be able to thank them enough and I will talk about the service recieved for years to come. They are true heros to me and both my baby and I have had 1st class support during our time there Sending them all a big hug Rakhee & Baby Mia x

Food, AWFUL Sympathy towards patients - depends on the staff member Ability to understand mental health issues - virtually NON Existent, especially towards patients who suffer from Hospital Related Post Traumatic Stress. Ability to stick to a treatment plan & not mess a patient around - again, NON Existent As for the sadist decided to turn the air conditioning off and place a ban on oscillating fans from the wards, come down onto the wards & see how much your patients & staff are struggling, in the conditions, to cope with your decision!!

On the 6th November 2019 I underwent a urological procedure by Mr Paul Hadway, his co-doctor, and supporting nursing and technical team. Everyone was highly professional and sympathetic. Conditions were spotless. Every patient should know they are in first class hands

My son was so poorly in May 2019 and without his expertise id hate to think what would have happened to him. I believe that this hospital needs more change in the policy . I found the doc hiding behind the wall and whispering to nurse practitioner ear to tell patients. Doc says they will save a life in imaginary but in real they have no face to save any body . I suggest if you are doctor come front to see every patients. Thank you

The main argument with this Hospital is the parking, it's really ridiculous I have missed two appointments because of no parking in the main car park nor up the road, all full. The only way you will get a space is if you arrive at the hospital by 8 in the morning, I can guarantee by 9 or 9.30 you will not get a space. Or if you want arrive an hour before your appointment and wait for someone to leave, there is no way you will get to your appointment unless your very very early to get a space. This is the worst parking situation I have ever come across The food shops are very very expensive so bring your own food. On the good side, the doctors and nurses are fantastic, very attentive and caring. When ever I have to go for my appointments I am always treated very well. Thank you to all the staff for doing a fantastic job each and every day.

On an emergency we had been triaged accurately and treated appropriately & timely. Very happy with the service. It may take time to triage you but definitely will be treated appropriately or rightly. They have lots of scope to think differently during winter holiday periods, something like camps & sessional ailments.

Took mum for her follow up appoitment with the Fracture Clinic at RBH. Dr Earnest Chew was wonderful as he was very attentive and thorough. Mum felt she had received the best advice for managing her recovery. Also happy with all other staff we spoke with on the day. Happy patient :)

Extreme lengthy waiting times, seems extremely understaffed which can lead to basic tests being missed. For example, I have been suffering from abdominal pain and no one bothered doing an ultraSound. Went twice and all that was done was bloods, ECG, X-ray. I asked for an ultrasound and was told it was not justified

WITHOUT YOU GOD Without you, Lord, I would be the wanderer of no one with pointless steps, carelessly! I would be speechless in my thoughts, I would always look at the sea without waves! Without you, Lord, I would not have an immortal soul, the wings of angels would no longer exist for flight! I would be like a cold stone thrown on the road, the wind would pass through me like time now! Without you, Lord, I would not know love, the beating of my heart would be like the clock that beats in vain! I would be without the power to dream very beautifully, with the indifference of being in the night of happy stars! Without you, Lord, I could not look at all the flowers, the moments of love would not be so rich! I would be dried up by the words of my being, I would be the silent voice that descends the day from the stars! Without you, Lord, I would not know the magnitude of your power, I would look at the sun like a flower without petals! I would be an eternal wanderer without the memory of yesterday, when I loved like crazy!

I went there for a shoulder dislocated and the nurse that checked at me on the triage was a little bit rude and told me that my injury wasn’t a big deal and that I should go home, she didn’t even checked me in a proper way. The receptionist was very kind, the only good thing of my visit there.

Came here for an appointment that I had been anxious about and explained I suffer with anxiety and was extreme stressed, arrived and was told it needed to be re-scheduled due to an emergency. I had been waiting for this appointment for weeks. The receptionist just sat there when I walked in and said we a changing everyone’s appointment, they had my details but couldn’t ring me to inform me? Poor customer service

My husband suddenly partially tore a ligament in his knee at gym. We went straight to the Accident & Emergency department at the hospital. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful. My husband was assessed by both a nurse and doctor within 15 minutes, given some advice and information on his injury. The only critic I can give is that it is a very confusing hospital in terms of the layout, there was nobody at the main reception as it was closed at 5pm (?!) so I literally had to stop a random passing stranger to find out where to go but otherwise, Great service, clean facilities and friendly staff. Very impressed! Thank you very much Royal Berkshire Hospital staff.

I had recently found a lump in my breast, I was seen promptly by my GP, and within a week had an appointment at the RBH breast clinic. Everyone facing a cancer scare will confirm the level of panic distress and worry it causes. I have to share with you that my experience was brilliant , from the receptionist who booked me in , to the wonderful nurse practitioner who saw me ,and treated me with the utmost care and respect . The NHS often gets a bad press, but I have to say my experience today with the NHS, at the Royal Berkshire Hospital was a good experience and one I wanted to share, especially if you are having to go through this or similar experience any time soon. I give them 10 out of ten for being on time , prompt and sensitive while dealing with patients concerned with cancer appointments . Thankyou so very much. Yours sincerely Val Gregory Stoakes

Got into a and e dept sat waiting for two hours to see triage, then not getting examined, then told it was a three to four hour wait to see a doctor and, they don't do xrays for suspected fractured ribs at this time of the evening and advised to see my doctor who could book an xray , and the nurse called alice was an extremely rude member of staff and she didn't have the courtesy to even look at me while she was talking to me

Free parking?.... except not enough spaces to allow for free parking so we had to park on edge of a building in car park but got a parking ticket. Thanks

Parking is terrible and you would be better off going to another hospital, the care I've been receiving and the way I'm being treated is rubbish, I wouldn't want others to receive the same, you would be better off at Frimley hospital, wish I went there instead of here.

Lovely staff, took into account past surgeries and gave me an anaesthetic they knew would help me. I got my surgery done 8 hours ago and I don’t look like I have at all and I feel extremely awake and completely fine! So happy with my surgery today!

My mum 97 had a bad fall, is almost deaf, practically blind 2 cracked ribs broken femur/knee and within days her purse has been stolen, how cruel can people be. I don't consider this hospital to be a descent place, staff are not for the elderly, my mum was someone in her life now she has to bear this loss of her belongings and personal items I am devastated, not all staff unpleasant but younger staff not appreciative of elderly and their families.

Absolutely shocking for a hospital, my daughter couldnt breathe normally and then the ambulance said they were gonna take 2 or more hours to arrive at my house. So we went to the hospital in a taxi and then they checked my daughter out and then said she wasnt using her inhaler properly even though she was. However, after that doctor checked us we wait 5 HOURS for another person to come check us out and it was 5AM at that time. So then, they did nothing to help my daughter and just showed her how to use it properly . Im so disappointed with this hospital because they also said my daughter wasnt a ‘life threatening emergency.

I must congratulate the Battle Day unit (Adelaide Annexe) for a first class patient experience when I visited on Friday 13th for an iron infusion. All the staff were so lovely and also efficient which removed any stress I had. Special thanks to senior staff nurse Ian Griffith. Wonderful team. Thank you
