As a pedestrian who had endured a severe collision while walking on a pavement, I needed to learn a new way of driving because of the severity of the injuries I had suffered. Initially, I was apprehensive and lacking in confidence despite having over thirty years driving experience. However, Jeff was both reassuring and knowledgeable. His jovial manner took the edge off the situation and after just a few driving lessons I passed the driving assessment and regained my confidence. Thank you to Jeff, Dean and Rita who treated me with respect and compassion.

A fantastic and essential service allowing people to regain independence after life changing events, whilst keeping our roads safe for everyone! My whole experience with the service was great from start to finish. Dean and Jeff were professional and friendly and put me at ease. They have given me the confidence to drive again in an adapted vehicle, making a huge difference to my life and independence! Thank you both!

I arrived for my driving assessment feeling quite apprehensive. However, both Dearbhla and Dean were fantastic , they were extremely thorough and organised, but they also managed to help me relax and put me at ease. I gained a lot of valuable information and now feel more confident with my driving and what i need to address in the future. Thank you both, I'm really glad that i did the driving assessment.

Julie went out off her way to get my assessment done. I had trouble with DVLA people but Julie sorted it out for me so I could have my assessment earlier due to cancelled appointment. Dean and Rita was very good to me and made it very Relaxing assessment. They all went out of there way to get a pass from them. Thank you very much for your help, you all should get 5stars.

I got my license back after the amazing help from the centre. I am recovering from severe traumatic brain injury and had my license revoked. This place is a god send. Life is now back on track, license has returned, back to my travels! Can't thank them enough.

Because of various issues I had to attend the Mobility and Driving service at Rookwood for an assessment with regards to my suitability to continue driving. From the moment I booked my appointment through to my actual assessment - I was treated brilliantly. All the staff there were very kind, and made me feel very relaxed and comfortable (in what was a very emotional time for me). Throughout the assessment itself Jeff (the assessor) was very patient, professional but most of all was understanding. I rely on my driving for work, and I thought that I would have to give up everything if I stopped being able to drive. However, Jeff saved the day! He quickly assessed my situation, and realised that I would be able to use hand controls to drive a vehicle - and this Wednesday I get my car with these controls in and I'm back to work again!! This is an essential service for the assessment of mobility driving ability in Wales. It gives an individual the chance to become independent as a safe driver again. It is also incredibly important that this service is in Wales - I (and thousands of others in my situation) would not travel hundreds of miles to go to an assessment centre in England. I would throughly recommend this service. Can I also say a big thank you to one of their driving instructors - Dean - for calmly helping me with the hand controls!

The staff and instructors were marvellous took into consideration that people with disabilities want to be independent and drive. Without doubt in my opinion the best driving centre in Wales for assessing people with disabilities

I can’t thank Dean and Marina enough. They made me feel instantly at ease. The care they took when explaining how the process would work was incredible They listened to what my expectations were and explained what was available and how to access those needs. I just felt totally at ease in a situation that I was really nervous about. I left the assessment so full of hope and positivity that I will in the nearer future get a huge part of my life back. I really can’t thank them for all they did and all that they do

I found out about this organisation through my MS Nurse. I had not been able to drive for 2 years due to an accident that triggered my MS and left me with mobility issues. I found the staff of this organisation helpful and friendly, they really know their stuff. Also, I'd like to thank the office staff for the mugs of tea offered to my mum whilst she was waiting for me to complete the lesson. She was also made to feel welcome. With regards to my assessments and driving tuition I found my Assessor Dave Howlett and Driving Instructor Dean Alcock very patient especially coping with me and the much hard braking that I did on the first few lessons whilst getting used to the car. They put at me at my ease during lessons and on the final assessment. I would highly recommend them to anyone with my mobility issues, seeking to drive again.

Made me feel at ease through the whole experience. Dean and Rita were absolutely amazing. They knew I didn't want to be there and was very nervous. They talked me through exactly what was going to happen and did not push. Thank you both for making this an easy and smooth experience for me.

A challenging day for anyone- good atmosphere at the centre with all staff - I liaised With Rita & Dean the former on cognitive skills IQ Memory- the latter physical testing of grip with hands and movement of feet for what would be required in a car environment with a manual gearbox -I then accompanied both to a car having passed the eyesight test of distance reading of registration plate to a set standard- Dean was the driving examiner and Rita accompanied us in an observational role noting behaviour cognitive skills - both worked as a team - A test drive of approximately 30-40 mins where all competencies were thoroughly tested- I am pleased to say I passed the test- Dean and Rita were professional empathetic throughout- Thank you Rita & Dean

From the moment I entered the assessment centre staff were welcoming and professional. Throughout the whole process I was put at ease in a friendly yet highly professional manner. I was assessed by Dean and Dearbhla who were both knowledgeable, supportive and professional throughout, showing empathy and understanding to my needs, yet ensuring that no stone was left unturned in ensuring my ability to drive safely was at the forefront of their assessments at all times. Thank you once again.

Such a great experience! I was really nervous about getting back driving having not driven in a long time but Julie was amazing and was so relaxed and reassuring during our lessons! Dean was also amazing during my assessment and really helped to calm my nerves. Will definitely be booking more lessons with them in the future to keep my confidence levels up!

My first assessment was as bad as it could get,but Dean my instructor just calmly kept giving me encouragement saying that after not driving for 8 years plus a completely different style of driving, I shouldn’t be to hard on myself. Fast forward a year and with Deans kind professional instruction and encouragement I have been assessed as being safe to be back on the road in an a adapted vehicle!! Dean and all at the south wales mobility centre staff are amazing and have enabled me to get my independence back. Thank you.

My wife was advised by her medical team to surrender her driving licence following a life changing incident in 2019. Over the last two years, my wife has reapplied to the DVLA to regain her license. This has included assessments with the team at the South Wales Mobility and Driving Assessment Service. The staff have been incredibly professional and supportive throughout the assessments and have guided my wife through the whole process, from the driving lessons, introduction of the adaptive equipment, the assessments and reports. My wife is incredibly grateful to Dave, Dean, Rita and Lowri for all their help and support over the last two years in regaining her confidence and ability to drive again. We would highly recommend these guys. A big, big thank you to you all.

Dean was welcoming and friendly on arrival. Both Rita and Dean made me feel at ease immediately. They were helpful and able to reply to any questions. Dean was an excellent instructor and Rita gave excellent advise, support and reassurance. I felt both staff are a credit to the service provided and thank you again for making my experience a lot less stressful than I thought it was going to be. Best wishes all

I was so nervous about my driving assessment but Dean at the assessment centre really put me at ease! The whole team were lovely and gave great advice and I recieved my report within a week! They provided a very helpful service and I felt my needs were 100% listened to. I only have a provisional and was very nervous about driving on the roads but by about 5 minutes in, I felt confident that I could use the adaptations that Dean had suggested to do all my lessons and finally get my licence! Thank you all at the assessment centre, you've given me my freedom back!

Big foam pit and padded ramp landing area for trying tricks. Cafe. Scooter hire. Viewing area. Must wear a helmet. Highly recommended...

👍👍 These guys are great for repairs. Best in Cardiff. I’ve been to loads of cycle shops and a lot of them have attitude like some of the lycra wearing cyclists do. Not here. Went today and they replaced my punctured inner tune and replaced the bald tyre for £22. Thanks!!!
