Really interesting museum, it’s well done. It shows everything and the information are always in English, Portuguese and Japanese. Highly recommended to the people that want to know more about the Japanese immigration in Brasil and how it’s developed during the year until now.

This museum gives a brief introduction to the story of Japanese immigration to Brazil. Visitors will learn about how the Brazilian and Japanese government formalized relations and when the first Japanese came over to Brazil. A scale size model of the first ship and a replica of a typical home of the first Japanese settlers are a couple of the highlights of the museum. Although interesting, there museum itself is in need of a bit of an upgrade. Perhaps it's a reflection of the aging Japanese population in Sao Paulo and an increase in difficulty of maintaining a strong Japanese heritage after more than a century of Japanese immigration.

Great museum that explains how the Japanese people immigrated to Brazil, with special focus to São Paulo region. It shows the hardships they've been through on the early half of the 20th century and how they overcame it, highlighting the great figures that made it happen. It has many pieces of that history, from a reconstruction of the ship that brought the first folk here to a recreation of the house of a field worker. Definitely worth visiting.

One of the most satisfying museums I've ever been to. Since I'm a nikkei myself, it was really interesting getting to know the background of my family and what the Japanese went through to thrive in Brazil. Definitely recommend!

An informative museum that offers wonderful insight into the history of Japanese immigrants in Brazil. It consists of 3 floors (starting on Floor 7) that bring a visitor chronologically through the reasons of immigration, the hardships faced, the impact of WWII, and recognition/assimilation. The top floor is reserved more for modern events and there's even a small cafe there. The exhibits are informative with replicated displays, pictures and videos, and translations of Portuguese into Japanese and English. It is free to visit on Wednesdays, but the entry fee is reasonable at R$16. One will need to keep their paper receipt throughout the exhibit as each floor has a scanner and turnstile one needs to go through

The museum is a great surprise for those who would like to have a better understanding not only of Japanese culture, as well the arise of one of the most important neighbours of São Paulo. The museum retells with catching details the story of immigrants, government relations and depicts with visual examples huge events around the immigration process.

As an Aussie it was pretty cool to learn about Japanese history from a completely different perspective. There is a bit of walking and some stairs but there is a lift available. Worth a visit.

Great museum chronicling the story of Japanese immigrants and the enduring history of that period. Well worth a visit. Difficult to find the entrance. Pay attention to the street number address and look for the green museum sign at the entrance to the Bunkyo building. The museum is inside the museum and accessed through the same entry.

(Translated by Google) The Liberdade neighborhood is the eastern heart of São Paulo. Full of Asian culture, it is a wonderful region! You feel teleported to the other side of the continent. Many typical restaurants, shops with products totally focused on this culture and examples of temples. On Sundays, there is the traditional Japanese fair made up of crafts, fashion and, of course, lots of Japanese food. Great option for lunch on Sundays. (Translated by Google) A priori, I would like to highlight the incredible historical importance that this place represents, it has a unique experience on three floors. Well, prices vary (today, February 25, 2020) between R $ 20.00 for adults and R $ 10.00 for students and children. This museum has a pleasant space, with accessible bathrooms on each floor, in the same way the staff are well trained and friendly. In this way, in general, the amount of culyura proposed by this museum enchanted me, since there is a huge range of texts referring to the conditions of Japanese migration to Brazil and the way of life they found here, evolving into the real absorption of these men and women in the Brazilian scenario! A posteriori I am grateful for the experience provided and I would like to tell everyone that it is a great walk, so after going to the museum it is possible to visit the Japanese restaurants in the Liberdade neighborhood.
