Attentive yet unobtrusive service. Great choice of dishes. Happy with the seared salmon and Florentine fishcakes. Side salad and especially chips portion very small but tasty.

The venue has had a total refurbishment since we were there last. The venue interior was green and dark but we had a table by the window in the corner. The tables are well spaced out .The menu is large covering everything from steak to pizza , burgers and pasta something to satisfy any person's taste. The menu highlights by the item what it's vegan etc . Prior to ordering the waiter or waitress ask if there are any dietary needs or allergies which is reassuring. My partner and friend had spicy King prawn which had plenty chillies and had a kick to it. I had King mushrooms, I then went for for Belly pork and scallops for main, my partner went for salmon. Drinks we had a bottle of Prosseco for the girls , I had A proper Job beer, and my friend had lime and soda. 2 of us had coffee to follow one being an Irish coffee. Service was very good, medium sized portions. The meal for 4 came to a little over £175.00 . The food was flavoursome and well presented. A nice pub in the country serving quality food. Also ample parking. We will return again I recommend the venue. Give it a try.

Great to meet a daughter and grandchildren Amelia and Elodie to celebrate Amelia's 14th birthday. Staff were excellent and good was good too. Just a bit chilly on the warm day being sat by an open door!

Very disappointed with the Poor welcome & food is overpriced for what it is! Welcome is so Cold. Not a good impression as it is the First Time I have been here for years. Best to look on Time Out & get a much better deal for a Fine Dining Experience. Also to add that the Carrot & Coriander Soup had a Vegan Cheese Ball & that was not described in the Menu. Thought it was an Egg by Mistake😂 Portion Sizes also Mean!

We were 3 adults and a dog. The pub's dog friendly areas are extremely dog friendly. There is a dining room without dogs for those who prefer to dine without 4 legged companions nearby. The dog was well cared for by staff and the service for humans was speedy and excellent despite the pub being very busy. Our food was very tasty, well executed and fresh. The burger was huge and superb. The duck salads fresh and bursting with flavour and the pasta had just the right kick and texture. Lovely, warm traditional interior. Worth a trip.

Very nice setting, lovely decor and the food was delicious, comparable to a top class restaurant. Dog friendly, can eat in the bar area or in the large garden. Will definately return. Well done Ramblers much improved.

If your looking for that luxury Tudor style vibe then this is your place situated just a tad down the road in chipstead valley, you can only get here by either car or the local cabs the reason for this is because this place is catering for the wealthy. For anyone who wants an amazing luxury atmosphere and quality food and drink, as you enter you will be greeted by warming staff, who will pay the upmost respect to you whether you want to sit near the windows or relax on their sofa style chairs they will sort you out. Food and drinks come quick with their high profile of respected food and a quality chiefs this place has a great reputation..the deserts are also luxurious I like the 🍪 cookie and double chocolate.. just to top it off I advise you to check out the massive outdoor gardens which bring out the true character of this Wonderful barn( farmhouse ) the best times I find to go to the ramblers is around 7pm - 8pm

The food was absolutely superb, with presentation to match ! So many lovely dishes to choose from . There were 5 adults and 3 children with us. We all had different dishes and they all looked incredible. Everyone enjoyed what they ate too. The deserts are just the best! The service we received was spot on. Thank you to everyone at The Ramblers Rest.

Wasn’t being briefed which dishes were gone so ordered once and was told one dish was sold out. Then ordered again, was told another dish which was in the original three was sold out. So this shows to me there is no effective communication between the kitchen and waiting staff. The planning was badly done. The three small dish I ordered, I didn’t like any of them. Duck pate was too salty. Chicken is hard and dry, with sugary sauce. Squid is barely hot. I would be surprised if the pub last more than a year.

Nice pub, hard working staff and good food but shame about the parking. We saw one car hit another while parking and came out after lunch to find ours had also been hit. Place is just SO busy with diners, drinkers and ramblers on a sunny day.

Excellent New Year's Day lunch. Our first visit to the Ramblers in a while, after a couple of disappointing meals. But glad to report the Ramblers is back on form - good service, friendly staff, tasty food. It remains the best pub for miles.

Had lunch today with friends and I have to say we were all disappointed with our food. We hadn't been there for a while and noticed a drastic change in the menu selection. It was a very restrictive menu, with heavy emphasis on vegetarian and vegan options. We normally have a starter but nothing appealed and we struggled with the main course so all ended up with the standby option of fish and chips. We had cheese and biscuits after and for £9 it was very meagre indeed. The service was good though, as were the drinks, hence 3 and not 2 stars. We will not be returning.

Popped in for the first time in a couple of years for a summer evening pint. Lovely courtyard garden but more importantly, the staff were superb. Very friendly and professional. We enjoyed it so much, we’re going back for a lunchtime meal tomorrow.

Beautiful country pub, in a lovely peaceful area. Exactly what you would want out of a country pub, with a beautiful beer garden. The food menu read amazingly well, but sadly, the food didn’t match at all. Poor massaman curry was replaced by a burnt burger! Don’t know how you can ruin a burger, but somehow they did. Also, the sever should have spotted it before serving.. Shame.

Fantastic renovated and better managed pub! Actually worth travelling a little out of your way for. Lovely service and food and decor. Very cosy with a really warm and welcoming feel. Ample parking too. Definitely recommend and would go back! Food is well presented and tasty. Great for gourmet pub food but not quite as good as restaurant food which is why this review gets 4 stars.

The ramblers is one of our favourite local spots so we booked a table for early evening to celebrate our sons first birthday! We always have a great time and the food is always great but this evening really was amazing! Our server Sophie was fantastic and couldn’t do more for us, dining with 3 young children can be stressful but she was super accommodating! I had the fillet steak which was absolutely delicious, the best steak I’ve had in a long time and cooked to perfection! Thank you team ramblers for another amazing meal!

Came for lunch with my partner and dog. We sat in the garden in the sunshine. Service from Charlie and his team was fantastic. Highly recommend the fish cakes! Service was quick and attentive, even had a water bowl and treats for the dog. Will be back!

Special occasion and champagne or first choice of wine not available. My first choice of dinner was not available either. Desert of pavlova disappointing which I did point out to waitress. Tasted like shop bought meringue with tasteless fruit. Considering it was a special occasion I chose not to mention at the time but I don't think I would recommend

We had a really nice Sunday roast in the garden on a hot, sunny day. It was pretty busy with mainly families. Everyone enjoyed their food, kids included.

Had a table of about 30 people for Christmas Dinner. Oscar was our head waiter and managed to get all the food out efficiently to a group that can't have been an easy group. Very responsive with extras throughout and managed his small team helping him well. Food was excellent, atmosphere was excellent, would highly recommend

First off, I need to clarify that it was probably the hottest Sunday in October on record. When we arrived it was very busy(4pm) and it took awhile to get a drink at the bar. I can totally understand being short staffed as no one would have staffed up for a full pub AND garden in October, that's the negative bit. Here's the good bit, great selection of beers and wines. We didn't really look at the menu, as all we had on our minds was a roast. My girlfriend went for the trio of roast(which was brilliant for me as she's never finished a roast in her life!) and I had the duo of beef roast. Both were exceptional and great value for money. High quality ingredients, beautifully presented and good portion sizes. I also had the chocolate bomb, just for the theatre and that didn't disappoint either. I actually felt for the staff, as it was so busy and hot, must have been a hell of a day. Special mention to Abbie and Scarlett who were super friendly and nice, when they must have been wanting the day to be over by 2PM. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Rambler's Rest to anyone, and can't wait to go back again.

Not been here for some time so thought I'll give it another go. Bang average food nothing special here Had the dirty burger which was over cooked and chips just luke warm. Not offered any condiments to go with the chips or food. Beer was nice and refreshing.

We had a 100th birthday celebration lunch here today (Sunday). The food was good as always - all choices. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our server Abbie was lovely. 10 adults and 4 children all had a great time. And the birthday girl said it was all just right. Perfect. Thank you

Really nice place. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and filling with good sized portions. The place is clean and due to covid well spread out. Parking was free and right by the door so didn't have to run far through the rain. The staff we're very helpful towards extra things we needed to feed a 1yr old.

Haven't been here for a while. Fairly empty due to covid and the winter darkness, but the staff were very attentive and the food was lovely. The scallop starter was fabulous. Burger was very good. Service from Lynton very good too. A very pleasant evening had by all.

We haven't been to this pub for a while, always had a decent experience before so thought we'd give it revisit. We weren't disappointed really good service and well managed COVID measures. Food was very good with a good menu selection which we haven't always found to be as expansive at other places during this period. All in all a really enjoyable experience and we will be back.

Quite expensive for what you get. We never asked but I'm sure a lot of the food was shop bought and heated up.

Since it changed hands, I'm afraid it's lost all it's character, no atmosphere - too much fried stuff - I know things haven't been the same since Covid 19 but we didn't enjoy our celebration with our God daughter. Sorry.

Service and menu at high end of pub grub spectrum. Also a nice place and location to be. Plenty of low beam bar space and airy indoor (gazebo) dining space. Large area car park. Parking not a problem. Child friendly with outdoor amusements. So worth a visit any time of year.

Used to work there about 13 years ago. The treatment of the staff was shocking, rasist attack was just a daily basic. Not mentioning one of the owners who was high at all the time. Positive side was the food. Great every day.

Brilliant pub, lovely atmosphere and the garden is huge and welcoming. Ordering is easy and they bring everything to your table and sanitise as soon as someone leaves their table. 30 seconds from the Kingswood train station so very easy to get to, we'll definitely be coming back 😊

  • 5/5 David L. 3 years ago on Google
Great Sunday roast with very generous portions. The beef was a little chewy but everything else was superb. The pub has its original interior and two large rooms added on the back so there was plenty of space. It looked like people were eating outside out the back, too. London Pride was the beer of choice and I saw a sign for Asahi as well but aren't they the Japanese firm that bought Fullers? We had a variety of servers including one who I think was the landlord. Everyone was polite and friendly and nothing (extra gravy, horseradish) was too much trouble.

  • 3/5 Juliet 3 years ago on Google
Second visit here. Last time was 2 years ago when they had a lovely roaring fire . That had being replaced by large candles. Perhaps as my friend said it wasnt cold enough for a fire. I chose a sandwich sister chose the kid's fish n chips and my mate had a snacky type thing (cant remember the name) Food was noce apart from my chips. They were dry not we came to expect from our last visit when they were so fresh and tasty. The chips were replaced with a fresh batch with apologies so that was fair enough. It is advisable to book as during peak times it is busy and tables to eat can be reserved...that might prove disappointing if you turn up to eat and can't get a table. Having said that they do have a restaurant section. Prices are reasonable for food and drink. My only gripe is that they do not have a disabled toilet or at least a wider cubicle. I did find it hard to support my sister to use the toilet whilst trying to maintain her privacy so i had to help her with the door half open as it is too small to fit 2 people in the cubicle. I dont think they can do much about that due to the layout of the restroom which is a shame as that may put off some disabled people from dining here. The staff were friendly
