The most beautiful, well kept park in this area. There are walking and running trails that go through the woods. Play grounds and swings here and there throughout. Basketball courts and lots of picnic areas. Also, impotantly, bathrooms. I was renewed after this visit! I'll be revisiting again soon

There are a lot of sweet trails. The swampy pond area is surreal because all the fallen trees and green water. The nature center is great for kids and adults alike. It was cool to see about 7 raccoons feeding all at one place. The areas were well kept and there are a lot of amenities for all types of events. There are bicycle trails and hiking trails too. There is also a pond and other cool spots throughout the park.

Excellent birding in the nature preserve. Pileated woodpecker, lots of red bellies, downies, hairies, a yellow crowned kinglet, lots of the usual Forest birds. Three hawks. Wide gravel paths in the preserve, well maintained. Lots of people though. I went in late March. Beech woods was great. Probably very beautiful in the preserve in summer. Not as secluded as many nature preserves do to being in the metro park. But well worth it.

Nice walking paths, 2 really good playgrounds. Bathrooms available for public use near the playgrounds. We also visited the nature center which is really nice, with lots of things for the kids to do and plenty of bird watching. I did t take a lot of photos as we just enjoyed being out and looking at the animals.

Beautiful walk on the Maple loop trail. An early spring mature forest with soaring trees, wetlands and abundant bird life. Will be back to see the large tree canopy in summertime.

Central Ohio's first Metro Park. Hiked the Buttonbush, Maple, and Beech trails. Very well marked and maintained. Easy walk with moderate traffic. This is only a portion of the park.

My favorite part of the park is the pathway that takes you alongside Blacklick Creek. The parking area is the same that you would use for the nature center so it's a good starting point to many other popular areas of the park.

Biked there on the Greenway Trail from Three Creeks Metro Park. Only got to see a small portion of the park, but what we did see was great. Trails were well kept. Beautiful path from the parking lot to the nature center with overhead hanging lights. The nature center was small, but very nice. Friendly staff/rangers. The aquarium had some bluegill and a map turtle. The viewing windows are wonderful.

I really enjoy this park! I regularly do what I call a butterfly loop that totals around 3miles starting at the back parking lot. Wonderfully maintained park and lovely woods.

Just happened to be in Columbus and dropped into the Blacklick Metro Park. The park is very large. Nice nature center that is staffed. Walking trails and shelters throughout. Looked like they have a disc golf course as well. Would like to go back in the summer to walk the trails.

We had a great time exploring the trails! We say 2 owls, a hawk, a few raccoons, and a bunch of squirrels. The trails are relatively short which means you can explore many of them in an hour. Make sure you check out the nature center- they have a neat animal viewing area.

This is the best park ever!! The landscaping is always well kept with all the beautiful flowers and greenery. It's very calm and peaceful. People appear very happy in this park; they even say "Hello" and speak to you. The park rangers are very kind, and you feel safe because they are always driving around in all the park areas. I have been visiting this place for over twenty years with no complaints .

I was at a gathering at the Beech Maple Lodge. It was really nice, with a full kitchen, tables and chairs, and lots of space. There were doors that opened the lodge to the patio that had grills and benches. A lovely fireplace inside as a focal point and clean restrooms. Would definitely go back.

Love this park! I've been coming here with my children now for over 25yrs! Love to walk and get out into nature! The mudrun paths they've recently added are AWESOME!! I just walk them, but to get off the concrete and enjoy the outdoors and wildlife has made us enjoy the park that much more! Hope they have more in the future or maybe different or new paths in new areas!

Blacklick is a great place to take a casual hike, hop on a log, lug a keg, shake some ropes and see a bunch of paranoid chipmunks. Fair amount of gathering areas, good trails, and honestly some of the best bathrooms of all the Metro parks I've been to.

  • 5/5 Jerry J. 1 year ago on Google
First time I saw a buck here. They have amazing things for kids to do here even when the outside animals are not there. Several aquariums and terrariums with animals and fish. They also have many events lead by their staff. Enjoy all the Metroparks.

Multiple hairy woodpeckers, pileated woodpeckers, red-bellied woodpeckers, cardinals, blue jays, chickadees, a red-tailed hawk, and other birds I couldn't name as well as many friendly squirrels. The boardwalks over the swamps are cool. Please mask up. There is a lot of parking available, and you can get a park map online.

Hiking on Buttonbush trail through the Nature Preserve, then hit the main trail to the bottom loop, then back. Around 3 miles. Deer, squirrels (including an albino), birds all out & feeding. I think spring is here. 🤞 Update.. 6/19.. hiked the 4 mi loop. Very pleasant & peaceful. Not crowded. No bugs, not muddy. Playground is temporarily closed. They're building a new one.

This park is amazing! Mix of paved walks and uneven, unpaved trails. It is huge and many places and different directions to go. We love nature and really love taking these walks and this is one of our favorite places. And despite how woodsy it is, there are very few flying bugs! Which is great

  • 5/5 Tanisha M. 10 months ago on Google
I love this park nice atmosphere. The ranges does a great job keeping the park clean. The bathrooms could use some attention far as cleanliness and up grades but other than that it's a cool friendly park for family gatherings or just to hang to the the kiddos play and have a good time.

An excellent Columbus metropark. Fairly small, but a lot of older trees and lowlands-very flat. And access to a large network of long bike trails.

  • 4/5 Marcus W. 3 years ago on Google
It was peaceful. It was quiet. It was very relaxing. There were several families setting up for birthday parties but it wasn't distracting at all. Would go back again as the leaves start to change. Very beautiful

If you are looking for a park to walk your dogs, Blacklick Woods has only one trail that allows dogs out of the many that are offered. I have spoken with others looking for the "dog approved" trail, but so far, no one I have spoken with has either found it or is able to give directions to where it might be! There are large green spaces, however, with benches and tab l s for picnics ( which is exactly what I did with my two fur babies, absent talking a nice walk. Dogs can play with you in these areas, but must be leashed and able to maneuver past all the other dogs confined to the green space after learning that all but one of the trails prohibit dogs! On really lovely days, this can get a wee bit dicey!

Very nice park. Well kept. We had my grandson's birthday party there. Lot's of space for the kids to run around and an additional jungle gym play area . Really good sized grill, cooked all the meat we brought. All in all a really good time.

  • 4/5 Shirley H. 3 years ago on Google
Nice, tranquil. However, everytime I went to go on a trail they were marked no dogs, so I would say its not pet friendly. If they have pet friendly trails, I did not see them. There were plenty deer and they don't seem fearful of people.

They do a great job of keeping this park clean. They always have a full schedule of different classes and events happening for the whole family. The nature center just got an outside facelift and it looks very nice. The space just outside the nature center is very inviting and our son loves playing in the area.

I've been running here consistently for 20+ years. GREAT park for running. It has a mostly shaded 4 mile loop trail in the woods. Both dirt and paved trail with restrooms and several water fountains. Every half mile of the main trail is clearly marked. And there are several other "non main" trails for more fun including a pond and several playgrounds. Plenty of parking as well. HIGHLY SUGGEST.

Amazing weather today. I roamed into the woods and found the best log to meditate on. In my stillness, I blended in with the trees. I became convinced that straddling a log was the most grounded asana ever. It's kind of like a horse stance in karate. Namaste

Thursday mornings at 9:30am are a great time to go. Very quiet and few people here — great for my shy rescue dog. Only complaint is that there are very few dog friendly trails. Only 2 short trails out of a bunch of others. I’m sure it has to do with wildlife, so it’s not their fault. Just not the best if you want to get your dog on some longer trails. Lots of shelters and open space and grills — great for group events and activities like soccer or frisbee.

One of the great things about 'The Great State' is our many wonderful Metro Parks! Feeling good? Go enjoy the walking paths. Feeling blue? Go enjoy the walking paths; blue no more! I like to also sit and read, use the courts, have a picnic and just...breathe!
