We had a funny guide. He made the visit great! Beautiful castle! A bit of walking to get there from the old city center, but it is totally worth it. We saw people taking a cab to get to the castle. The view is great! There are nice restaurants around the castle.

I took a train from Luxembourg, half a day is enough. Castle is situated in the hilltop above Cochem. We requested for the English speaking guide, he was really helpful. The view of the Mosel river and Cochem is stunning from the castle. We took a shuttle bus from the foot of the bridge to the castle. You may not get to see all the rooms but you will definitely enjoy the view, its worth a trip

Absolutely stunning castle high on the Moselle river. We didn't have the chance to go in as the castle was soon closing for tours but we were able to walk around and take in all of the amazing views. Fairly uphill climb to get up to the castle but not too bad. Would highly recommend if one is in the local area. Can't wait to visit again and be able to tour the inside.

Beautiful castle. Once you are on top the scenery is breath-taking. requires a bit of walk to reach it but the climb is not that steep. You can get in with a tour only. The tour was in German but the guide (at least ours did) translated most of the stuff in English, plus she gave us a brochure with room by room description. The guide was great with a sense of humour & told us some anecdotes about the castle. There castle itself inside is gorgeous, although it is not the original medieval furnishings of course but still interesting. They even give a chocolate coin for kids from an old chest. You can make pictures inside, although there is really no time for them inside or outside as you have to vacate rooms rather quickly for the next tour. There is a nice gift shop inside. Cochem town itself is a jewel. Covered in flowers & many little cute streets. recommend also to take a boat trip.

The castle is located on top of a hill. We went to Cochem on a holiday and I couldn't find a way to drive there. So, we parked the car in a parking in Ender St. and climbed up to the castle for about 15 minutes and we saw a breathtaking view of Cochem. The castle itself is beautiful and in very good condition. You have to enter in a group and with a tour guide who spoke German and we didn't understand a bit.

Great day trip. Perfect to take family and anyone you might have visiting. The castle is a bit of a hike up a fairly steep hill, but the views from the top are worth it. Went in the early spring and I imagine the vineyards on the hill sides look spectacular come midsummer.

It’s somehow a magical town, full of narrow streets and up the hill this amazing castle. You can a guided tour, it’s quite quick and the castle inside is not that big but you can notice how passionate the guide is. The view is amazing form the castle which you can easily reach walking or by car. I went in winter and need to come back in summer.

Lovely castle! The tour we took was around 35 minutes and was very interesting hearing the history about the castle. The views of the city below are breathtaking and the castle itself is like a fairytale. There is a restaurant there but I did not eat so I can't comment on that. Overall very nice day trip.

Very picturesque and magnificent castle that sits like the crown of Cochem city. I completely loved the architecture here. It takes a 15-20 minute walk from the city to reach to the castle from where the view of the river and the valley is just breathe taking. You get stunning views of the vineyards and the city from the balcony. The castle is open for public with the English guided tours on demand.

Beautiful castle with great views across the river valley. We walked up the hill from town which takes about 15 minutes. No parking at the castle! We took an English language tour which was about 7€ for 40 minutes. The tour was fine, not extremely insightful and they really rush you from room to room so you hardly have a chance to take it in or get photos. Obviously they want to show you as much as they can within the time frame they set, but would be great if they gave you just a couple of minutes to linger in each room to take it in.

Beautiful castle on mountain top. Stunning views towards the castle from the city and stunning views from the castle looking at the city. Must get a ticket €8.50 to enter the castle which includes a tour, The English tour runs every hour or so, the tour was really good and insightful for the history of the castle, the time period and architecture. The souvenir shop prices were quite high, eltz Castle souvenir shop was much better.

This place is breathtaking from the moment you first see it from afar, from the town or from the street that takes you there through the mountains. The views of the river and the town from the castle are amazing and the inside of the castle is beautiful as well! The tour guide is awesome too! Great experience!

Gorgeous, medieval castle sitting on top of the hill. We paid to do the courtyard tour, and the views alone were worth it. Definitely worth seeing if you visit Cochem! You will not be disappointed.

very nice castle, did the tour for like 7€ and only took 25 minutes. Wished the tour would have showed more rooms or places! as i understood a special tour has to be booked. i suppose next time. Our tour guide through the castle was very nice 👍🏽

Beautiful castle high on a hill top above the river, we walked all the way up to it (kinda steep fyi) we did not get a chance to tour the inside but exploring the outside and seeing the amazing views was definitely plenty. There are shops, bathroom and food options as well.

Perfectly placed facing the Moselle river, Reichsburg is the most prominent symbol of Cochem. There’s a fantastic old village surrounding the castle, where you take some time for a walk. They have guided visitation until 17:00h; going early is best option enjoy the medieval atmosphere of the place.

After a steep climb from Cochem, you reach this magnificent castle. Catch your breath and join the line for the guided tour as it is worth the price. It is a castle with a long history and a magnificent view from the balcony over the river. Only this view is worth the price. The castle is not all gold and glimmers, but seems to give a good view of the way the old inhabitants lived here. Especially the exterior of the castle is beautiful and looks like it came from a fairytale. Afterwards, take the stroll downhill to the old city and enjoy the city.

The castle was nice. Although you can only enter by a tour once every 12 minutes or so. The tour guide will explain things in German, and guide you through several halls or rooms. Other parts are restricted. The furniture and building are well preserved. Totally worth it.

Impressive castle. I will not claim to be an expert about them but it was beautiful inside and out. The tour guide provided a wealth of knowledge. Cost of the tour was inexpensive and available in English. Views from the castle were incredible.

A perfect place to visit. There is a guided tour in English and German. They also allow dogs which I think is great. But the most stunning is the view from the castle. Promise that you will love it. Recommend to go walking from the one path and go down from the other to see one of the smalest city gates.

Absolutely stunning castle in the most beautiful location!! Wow! This is one place that I would recommend to anyone looking for some historical beauty. It’s truly magical. The gift shop sells guided tour tickets in English and German languages. The tour was very nice, but they have to move you along very quickly and you barely have time to take pictures. We went at the end of the day and it was the perfect time for the tour and photos afterwards. Be sure to arrive early so you can purchase tickets ahead of time. Food: There is a restaurant at the castle along with the gift shop. There is another cafe right outside the castle as well.

The visit was great. The guide was great and told us everything about the castle the dinner show was fun and entertaining. The only complaint I have is seating was a little tight but still enough room to eat and move if you are next to the right person.

Great castle with nice views, a ticket is only € 8.5 per adult. The tour was only in German, but they hand out flyers to English speaking geusts to read allong, so be mindfull of that. The tour lastst for +/- 30 minutes and shows allot of the interior of the rich family that restored and lived inside the castle. Definitely worth the visit if your near Cochem.

The best castle we’ve been in Germany, I know there’s more beautiful out there. But this castle is big clean feel like a home when you enter, they only have German tourist guide but they’ll give you a paper with English translation on it. You can take some videos and pictures inside too, I know some castle are not allowed. Even it was weekend it was not so crowded inside. They have clean bathroom as well, we did walk through the castle and it was worth it because you can see those pretty buildings on town OTW. You can’t park near the castle they have shuttle bus if you don’t like walking. It’s kinda hard walk going up the hills. Recommend this place, Cochem is small town but it so calm and peaceful place!

Very well preserved castle! Despite of the fact that furniture from many rooms were sold by the owner, there is still nice decoration. Perfect view to Cochem City from an eagle eye!

Restored and well preserved castle on the upper banks of the Mosel with stunning views. Take a guided tour for an engaging visit. There are separate themed tours for children at a reasonable price.

  • 5/5 Artem B. 7 months ago on Google
Breathtaking castle, absolutely worth visiting. The city area around is great for hiking. I would recommend to spend a night there as 1 day visit might not be enough. Old city there is amazing too. Mind that castle is on top of the hill so be ready for a 20 min climb. When we visited there was a festival of medieval stuff, with concert and costumes, so entrance price was around 15€. There are 2 ways to get to the castle - one is from city center and another is a bit hidden , and it leads to another side of the hill and actually has stairs, which are easier to walk up, rather than the main rout , which is also suitable for cars and has no stairs at all. Don’t try to drive up there unless it’s super early in the morning , as people will hate you for that :D

Cochem is a lovely, picturesque town with lots of great places to eat. The castle requires quite a bit of effort to walk up, not recommended for those with mobility issues. The views from the tip were well worth it but you can only access the castle by paying for admission and a guided tour.

Loved it, an interesting place to visit. The lady who was our guide was so knowledgeable, so interesting, and she got all of us engaged. We could take photos, had time to look around, and really enjoyed it. View from Castle Balcony was amazing 😇 highly recommended to visit, not overpriced, and really affordable.

An amazing place you have to visit. They offer both tour in English and German. The tour guide I was with is really amazing. And can see this castle from many place in the city. Definitely gonna visit there again.

I chose to walk up the walkway to the castle. It was a long and hard hike. Beware before you park down below and start the trek up. When you get to the top there are amazing views! And the castle is so rich with history it is well worth it!

What a lovely Castle, we walk up the hill to it. We did the Castle tour for €7 I think? Well worth the money. We had a nice cup of coffee in the Castle cafe overlooking Cochem.

Very beautiful place.. The walk from the town to the castle takes about 15m. There is a very narrow way through the forest that is very beautiful..

Beautiful castle and interesting guided tour. Just be aware it is so stiff before you get to the top of the hill and the path is not paved all the way… hard to move with strollers

Very nice and clean tourist spot. Very well kept and photos allowed. We couldn't get an English your due to Covid but the German version wasn't bad. We received English written version. Souvenirs a little pricey but over all great experience, staff polite. Knew enough English to get by.

Did not do the tour but a nice castle on top of the hill with amazing views of Cochem and the Rhine. Parking in the main town then a short walk up to the castle.

  • 3/5 Andrés P. 4 months ago on Google
Amazing castle! You can only enter with q guide tour (only german speak). To bad that the visit not includes the whole castle, I was hoping to see the upper rooms.

  • 5/5 Thomas B. 4 months ago on Google
What a beautiful day to visit this wonderful castle. We bought our tickets at the castle but if you want to avoid the rush buy beforehand or arrive early in the morning. Our tour guide did an excellent job educating us on the history of the castle – well worth the money to tour this site. The best way to get to the castle is taking the dedicated Cochem Bus Line “781” from Endertplatz Station to Reichsburg (only stop on the weekend). After the tour make sure to spend some time enjoying the fantastic views but you can only do that outside the front entrance. Note – you can ONLY enter the castle if you take one of the tours and after the tour is done you must immediately exit. Lastly, do not forget to stop by the castle restaurant for a wonderful bowl of soup and enjoy the view.

Good adventure experience... Just note that its one way and you cannot come back to Morsdorf on bridge.. We had to hike 4 km back on those mountains..

The castle is incredibly beautiful as well as the surrounding town. Definitely worth a visit. It's hard to find parking for the holidays. There are a couple of parking lots that are located above the castle, the path from them to the castle itself goes through the forest, it is very steep, keep this in mind. It is not very difficult to go down this path, but it is difficult to climb a steep one without physical preparation.

  • 5/5 Patricia F. 8 months ago on Google
It's high on a hill but walkable for those who are healthy. Cobbles also add to difficulty. It's a beautiful castle, restored from disaster by a man with foresight. Great views at the top.

We've been there at weekend 30sunday 2023 July. After closing the Castle at evening we climbed the mountain to see the beautiful castle and the village view.... Was really fun there We don't enter but enjoy the view and clean atmosphere! But the public toilets in the castle is dirty ( stinky toilet ) . All after saying I highly recommend to come and visit here 🏞️🏰🏞️🏰🏞️🏰🏞️🏰🏞️🏰🏞️🏰

Beautifully although not quite faithfully reconstructed hilltop castle overlooking Cochem oldtown and the Moselle river. Just a short walk uphill from Cochem Bahnhof and it's giant parking site, alternatively there's also a shuttle bus to and from. Be warned that this is one of the main attractions along the Moselle so it will pretty much always be a very busy place, accordingly the castle grounds can only be walked with a paid tour to prevent crowding.

  • 5/5 Shrikrishna B. 8 months ago on Google
We visited the castle during Burgfest. It was indeed great to be there, as there were lots of performances and activities. It was a amazing experience for our kids, as they learned how it was in the history. Castle is on walkable distance from Cochem center, and also there is a shuttle bus every 15 minutes.

  • 3/5 Denis G. 8 months ago on Google
    - The view around the castle is amazing, but the castle themselves is a bit small. - Takes about 30-40 minutes with a guide (and you have to go with a guide). They take 30 people, which is a lot for most of the spaces. - If you see more than 10m queue, maybe come next time. It isn't worth waiting for it. - No parking. - Reservation is not needed, as the queue is waiting for a guide. You can buy a ticket meanwhile.

  • 5/5 Surupa C. 9 months ago on Google
Absolutely fairytale town with a beautiful castle hilltop. The way to castle from center is 30 -40 min walk uphill and very pleasant scenery. Recommend to spend a day or a day trip which I did is also fine. Must take a boat trip to view the castle from river. Town center is so cute well preserved medieval.

Very cool place! It was very hot to talk to walk around, but the castle and view was beautiful, all the workers were very nice, and the tour was informative and nice! Would recommend.

Beatiful castle and great for the day trip. You can go inside the castle for a paid tour with a guide. The castle is full of well preserved artifacts and beautiful art works. It's also interesting to know the history of the castle. There's a bar at the end of the tour with a view over looking Cochem city.

  • 5/5 Tatiana G. 1 year ago on Google
Must see if you are in Cochem. The walk from the town is not very difficult, however you can take a shuttle from the bus station if you do not want to climb. The views from the castle are amazing. You can explore the castle inside only with a guided tour which take place every 10-15 min (they also have several English-speaking tours a day). The tour absolutely worth it, because the guide was very engaged and told a lot of interesting facts about the castle and it’s history.

  • 4/5 jonty l. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful architecture and stunning location. Is a nice steep walk to get there but beautiful views and an epic building make it worth while. Just a shame the heavens opened when we got to the top! A very large queue for the restaurant... be prepared to wait!

  • 5/5 Katherine R. 1 year ago on Google
Cochem Castle was a delight to visit. Even without a tour the view from the top is magnificent. The tour was informative and entertaining. Our tour guide gave us plenty of time for photos and shared information and answered questions with a smile. We were there in early September and the weather was gorgeous. Our guide did mention that during the winter when it is cold you need a coat because the castle is not heated and it can get chilly.

Family friendly, great 1/2 or day trip castle. It’s well-preserved, and the tour guides will have you through the property in 40 minutes. There’s a large hill leading to the castle, but it’s a beautiful sight the whole way. Recommend for families or adults just traveling.

Beautiful Castle! I must go if you are in the region. The guided tour is excellent.

  • 5/5 Purvang K. 1 year ago on Google
One of the best castles in Germany. Had a great time and the guided tour was very informative. Recommend visiting this castle in spring or summer time just for a better weather. The view from the castle balcony is awesome. The town of Chochem is very charming and lots of options for shopping, food and souvenirs. One can easily spend a day in this town. Highly recommended castle.

  • 5/5 Avadhoot 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely magnificent castle, and beautiful surroundings. The Cochem town with it's narrow lanes takes you to the castle situated on the hill. Guided tour in English gives a fair background on the historic structure as well as the associated stories. Visible from every corner of the town, it won't be wrong to call this castle as crown of Cochem. 👑
