Burg Eltz Castle is so pretty. Be prepare to hike to the castle and back to the car, if you want to capture beautiful photos like you see in my post. They do have bus shuttle from the parking lot to the castle and back if you don't want to hike. We took the bus shuttle to the castle and after the tour we hiked to the 2 photo spot. Hiking up is was intense. I advise if you want to take photos to hike the castle because you are going downhill, do all your photo shoots. Then after the castle tour, can take the shuttle bus back up to the parking lot. This castle was first mentioned in history in 1157. It has been the Eltz family for 850 yr and through 33 generations. This is impressive! This is a must visit castle. So much Eltz history.

Beautiful castle and the short 15 minute hike from the closer parking was nice. Parking is 4 Euro and I got there at 1030 hours so there was plenty. Masks were required in the courtyard and inside during the tour. There's signs indicating when you must wear them. You can take pictures around the castle, the courtyard and the treasury. There was no wait to get a ticket when I arrived and I went to the treasury first before waiting in the queue for the English speaking tour, which was queue number 2. I didn't get pics in the treasury because I thought you couldn't take them. After the tour it seems my whole group went to the treasury so I recommend visiting it first. The wait for the English tour was about 30 minutes. I used this time to take courtyard pics. The guided tour was informative and the guide allowed time to ask questions. The staff was friendly. When I departed around 1230 hours there was a long queue to get tickets and I went on a Sunday.

One of the most impressive and beautiful castles in all of Germany. Owned by the same family since it was built. We parked at the parking lot and chose to walk through the woods rather than take the bus. The walk took us about 20 minutes. We also took the tour and thoroughly enjoyed what was shared by the guide. Would recommend to anyone who is visiting Germany.

Beautiful castle property, a must see in the area. We paid 4 euro for parking and took the 15 minute hike in, which was beautiful. There is also a shuttle option for a small price. The castle is well maintained, the tour was about 30 to 40 minutes in length, and ours was given in English. Lots of rich history in this castle, still owned by one family. The souvenir shop had lots of variety, and you can also buy lunch/snack items and drinks. Masks are required currently, and pets are not allowed in the castle. The drive to the castle is a joy, with small roads winding through the hills and an occasional picturesque town.

Beautiful castle! 2€ for parking. 2€ for bus ticket to get from the parking spot to the castle. 11€ for adults including tour. There are German and English options. We haven’t tried the cafe and the restaurant. Tour guide was super friendly. Little souvenir shop at the exit. Enough rest rooms available. Fully recommend!

A very beautiful 12th century castle surrounded by a big forest. The views from the top were spectacular. The parking was busy and it costs 4€ and you can take the shuttle bus for 2€, if you don’t want to walk from the parking to the castle. There are many cafes and restaurants there. There is also a big treasure room to see and it’s included in the ticket price. Overall, It’s definitely a stunning castle to visit.

Beautiful castle from the outside and the surrounding area. But nothing very majestic or extraordinary inside. Small rooms and you can visit only a few. No photo taking inside. The most impressing things – some original bedroom & dinner room furniture, the original ceiling beam and great kitchen area and the cooking items. We drove from Frankfurt area, took less than 2hrs. The parking is €4, the entrance is €14, the tour is included (German & English). Didn't need to book in advance. Purchased our tickets inside the castle gate. A nice 15-20 min walk to the castle. Just watch your kids not to go to the edge. There is bus to take you right near the castle for $2 but we decided to walk than taking the scary bus ride. The staff were nice. There is a small restaurant before you go in the castle. Prices are reasonable. They have Free toilets for men and women. Good amount of parking space.visited 28 Oct, 23

Burg Eltz 🏰 -enchanting, medieval Castle nestling in the heart of the wild natural scenery(hill above the Moselle river) of the Elzbach valley. *almost 1 hr 30min drive from home, plus 15-20min trail walk (that's why I wore shoes instead of heels) from the parking area to the Castle grounds *definitely worth the visit 👸

Ok! We made it to Germany! We walked at least a mile through the beautiful forest to arrive at Eltz Castle. Built to defend and protect the locals, it is now owned by the 33rd generation The Eltz family first erected a dwelling on this site one thousand years ago. Three families built their homes in the castle complex. Count Karl currently own it. The family-controlled traffic on the Moselle River. The first of the three families complex built their portion in 1472. Is is a true medieval castle. It was remarkably interesting to see what luxury there was during the Middle Ages. There are also numerous hiking trails in the area, so we might have to come back and hike through the mountains! For some the walk will be too much, better to take the shuttle bus. There is also a nice stream to wade or cool your tired and warm feet off from the walk.

Wonderful castle! So adorable. A tour is provided and I am an English speaker and they had frequent tours in my language. Added bonus, a small museum of treasures! Also a sweet cafe where we enjoyed cappuccino and a pretzel. Make this a stop when in Germany!

Beautiful Castle 🥰 Parking is 4€. There is a short 15 minutes hike from the parking with a nice view. Masks are required inside during the tour guide. We waited around 10 minutes to buy the tickets. We enjoyed the views and took plenty of pictures. Everything was beautiful ❤️ It was worth it!

Gorgeous. Walking back into history and quite a view along the way. The walk down and back up is NO JOKE, so don’t hesitate to take the shuttle, but it’s worth the effort if you can make the hike.

This castle should be, for sure, on everyone's bucket list! Such an amazing and mysterious place. Even as a german, who lives quite close to it, and is used to castles down the river, I'm always impressed anew when I see it! A definitely MUST SEE! 😊

There is usually a queue that moves quite faster. I would recommend reaching there before 3pm in summer days. The ticket prices at 11€ for an adult and they have a small restaurant inside to grab a bite and beer. Absolutely gorgeous! Best part is the hike to get there. Loved every bit.

The walk from the parking lot to the castle is very beautiful and about 15-20 minutes. Just be cautious if you are not the best on your feet. It is dirt. I ended up doing the guided tour! It was very affordable and very informational. Just a magnificent structure with a ton of history!

It's a beautiful drive up to the castle. Car park was €8. While you can take a bus for €4/pp each way the walk along the trail is very easy and makes the reveal all the better. It's a pretty castle with a lot of history. But it isn't exciting. The tour was bland and rushed. No real time to really enjoy and appreciate it. I'd like to suggest that maybe they get period dressed guides in the rooms to tell stories. The cafe is reasonably priced. The food was also tasty. I'd like to have spent more time hiking around. That will be a return trip.

It was a fascinating experience! When you arrive at the parking lot you can take the bus in high season or arrive by car. The other option is to take a path through the forest that takes you straight to the Castle. You will always meet people who work in the Park, students and many people walking. This path makes you imagine how everything worked centuries ago and how many people walked there. And you can take beautiful photos, see Robins and Koolmees. The walk is difficulty level 2.

The castle is remarkably well-preserved and it's hard to belive that it has more than 800 years history! Walking through the enchanting forest to reach the castle was a delight in itself. I visited the guided tour (14€ for an adult) and it definitely worth money spent. The interior of the castle is equally captivating, filled with historical artifacts and stories that transport you back in time. I highly recommend visiting this gem in the heart of the German countryside. Burg Eltz is a must-visit destination, and it's easy to see why it's considered one of Germany's most beautiful castles.

Very beautiful place!!! Magical atmosphere inside and near the castle) we've been there on Sunday afternoon. I think it is very nice to come there around 16, take a tour or take a cup of coffee in the Cafe inside the castle. And around after 19, stay outside, look at the castle in sunset light without people 👌

(Translated by Google) I went by car. I ran quite a bit after going north on the river drive route and entering the inland. It's a pleasant drive on a country road, but I was a little worried because there was no display. It's a countryside with nothing around. I parked my car near the entrance of the parking lot, walked the mountain road for about 30 minutes, and finally arrived at the castle. I was worried on the way whether it really leads to the castle on a narrow path like a hiking course rather than a mountain path to the castle, but everyone has the same destination so there is no doubt. The location and appearance of the castle is great, but the interior was a bit disappointing. On the way back, there was a shuttle bus, so I took the minibus to the parking lot. This bus was from the back of the parking lot and I didn't notice it when we arrived at the parking lot because there was no guidance. There is a charge for the bus, but it is cheap. Wonderful, short hike with beautiful views. Unfortunately the castle was closed so we couldn't see inside the gated area... Will return in 2021 :)

(Translated by Google) Suddenly it is there, the castle of all castles. A fairytale castle in the middle of nowhere, placed on a rock spur and surrounded by dense forests. The Elzbach winds around the castle, flowing around it on three sides, unaffected by any straightening that has destroyed so many other natural bodies of water over the centuries. The special thing about Eltz Castle is its unique architecture and location. No industrial area spoils the picture, no power line, no construction area and no thoroughfare through which the traffic rushes. “You can hear the silence here,” a visitor once said with great devotion. He took a seat on the bridge below the castle and listened to nature. Eltz Castle is an oasis of nature and the past. A vanishing point for the soul who is looking for relaxation, who wants to get away from the charms of modernity that are present almost everywhere else. The castle, on the other hand, stands there as it has always been, undestroyed and picturesquely prepared for centuries with turrets, walls, battlements and loopholes. A unique ensemble that has survived the changing times, a must for everyone who is on the move on the Moselle and Eifel. Hikers and cyclists can easily find it. A dream path even has “Eltz” in its name, one of those certified hiking trails that are as well signposted as they are varied. Eltz Castle appears in the middle, the dramatic climax of a tour that leads to the old knight festivals in a particularly beautiful way. But cyclists can also take a trip to Eltz Castle. A detour of the Maifeld cycle path leads to the castle parking lot, there you just leave your bike and continue on foot for a few minutes. Cycling and hiking in combination, what a nice combination. The day trippers who are on the Moselle cycle path (stage 9) do a very similar thing. In Moselkern you branch off into the Eltz valley, park your bike at the Ringelsteiner Mühle and continue on foot for the remaining two kilometers. The castle is worth a long stop. The inside is at least as interesting as the outside. A hodgepodge of knights' halls and electoral rooms, treasure chests and treasures, cozy chambers and smoky old castle kitchens await visitors. Everything is spotlessly neat and neat, after the end of the season in November, Eltz Castle is brought back into shape in months of detailed work. The current landlord, Karl Graf zu Eltz, takes care of that with his son Johann Jakob. Eltz Castle is still family-owned today, and the nobles of Eltz have been in charge here for over 30 generations. Tacheles was once spoken in the knight's hall, and one or the other bouquet was fought out verbally. Guided tours get you closer to history and you are amazed at the rules and conflict resolution strategies that existed back then. The visitors have the highest priority at Eltz Castle. For them there are two bars with coffee, cake, beer and snacks as well as game dishes from their own hunt. There is also a shop with literature and medieval accessories.

Great castle...but mass tourism This castle looks like straight out of a fairy tail...turrets all over, painted walls and timber wherever you look...located beautifully in a wee valley...what more could you want? And that is actually a bit of a problem nowadays as it is too easy to get there...a shuttle bus from the parking lot about a mile away even spares you the nice, short woodland walk down to the castle... there are beautiful paths to explore in and around that valley where you cn see the castle from various angles...so please ignore the convenient 'speed dating' with Burg Eltz and discover its surroundings and spend some time there. The entrance fee to the castle itself seems high given that you only can visit about 4 rooms and the treasure chamber...but they are worth the visit and you help restore and sustain this magnificent building. Try to be there first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the extreme masses...

Very pretty from the outside, but basically impossible to access. Since you can’t buy tickets in advance, we planned to get them at the door. But when we saw the line leading up to the castle, we realized that would be virtually impossible. Ah well, it was still nice to enjoy the view from above!

One of the best castles in Europe. The tour was fantastic and the treasury has many interesting items. The castle has been in the family for over 700 years and everything is original! Only 300 people allowed in at once during COVID.

Nice walk to the castle. Have English guide to take you inside of castle, but no pictures allow . Only thing is it's on construction. Bring some water and some snack, cuz the only place that have food , is always a long line. And not much place to sit if your legs are tired .

Definitely worth the visit. Be prepared for the walk up to the castle although they have a shuttle bus service for €2 if your wanting to a lift to it. Car park is very large so no issues with parking, cafe on site and they take card payments for tickets. Waited for the English tour for about 30 mins, walk through is about a good hour.

The castle is magnificent. The valley is awesome for a small hike You can take photos outside and in the treasure place, but it is not allowed to take photos inside the castle The guide was very nice and told us about the history of the castle, the family Eltz, who still, until this day, owns the castle You will see their pictures inside

An incredible castle, like out of a fairy tale! The castle itself was an experience, but the surroundings are also awesome! Lots of hiking paths. The entrance to the castle includes a guided tour and entrance to the treasury. If you go, take the guided tour! It’s hard to describe this castle… it’s as amazing as it looks. It has a nice cafe also.

The tour was interesting. We went in the morning on a weekday and it was fairly quiet, but it quickly got busier towards mid day. There is a shuttle option from the car park for 2 euro pr person. It is nice walking through the forest and suddenly spot the castle. It is quite well hidden in a river valley.

One of the best castle I have visited so far. This gorgeous medieval castle with great history is a must visit in Germany. If you want to enjoy the beauty of Eltz try to be in as early as possible, ideally before 9am, so that you have the best view & you don't need to wait for long in queue which is way to long specially in corona times.

(Translated by Google) Burg Eltz is a medieval castle located in the hills above the river Moselle between Koblenz and Trier. The castle is still owned by branches of the same family (the Elc family), which has lived in it for 33 generations, since the 12th century. It is the only castle on the left bank of the Rhine that has never been destroyed. The castle is surrounded on 3 sides by the river Elzbach, a northern tributary of the river Moselle. It is located on a rock 70 m high and surrounded by the forest of the same name. The castle belongs to the group of so-called Ganerbenburg Castle, ie. castles inhabited by several families who build a common castle in which to live. In the case of Elz Castle, three branches of the same family have three separate parts within their ownership. About 100 family members who own it live in over 100 rooms in it. There used to be a village south of the castle where servants, craftsmen and their families who worked for the castle lived. The oldest part of the castle is a Romanesque dungeon tower called Platteltz, whose construction began in the 9th century. Until 1157, the fortress was an important stronghold during the reign of Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa, which was located on an important trade route between the valley of the river Moselle and the Eiffel region. The only serious attack on the castle took place between 1331 and 1336, when the owners of the castle, together with other free imperial knights, opposed the territorial policy of the archbishop and the elector from Trier. During that period, the castle was under siege by the army of the Archbishop of Trier, who built a smaller siege castle, Trutzeltz, on a rocky hill above the castle of Elz, the remains of which can still be seen on the north side above the castle of Elz. The siege lasted for two years and ended with all the free royal knights being given royal freedom. The Rubenah House (Rübenach) was completed in the late Gothic style in 1472. The living room called the Lower Hall of Rübenach and the Rübenach bedroom with its richly decorated walls are especially beautiful. Between 1490 and 1540, the Rodendorf house was built, also in the late Gothic style. The vaulted "Flag Room" stands out in it. The Kempenich House was completed around 1530. Every room in this part of the castle could be heated. During the French rule of the Rhineland between 1794 and 1815, Count Hugo Philippe zu Elz escaped from the castle and found refuge in Mainz. After the end of the French occupation in 1815, he returned and became the sole owner of Elz Castle and the surrounding estate by buying a part that belonged to the Rubenach house from Baron Elz-Rubenach. In the 19th century, Count Karl zu Elz carried out a thorough restoration of the castle between 1845 and 1888, very carefully preserving the existing architecture. The following major restoration works were carried out between 2009 and 2012. The houses of Rubenah and Rodendorf are open to the public today, while the Kempenic branch of the family still holds a third of the castle in its possession as private property that is not open to the public. Working hours are every day from April 1 to November 1 from 09:30 to 17:30 The ticket price is 10 € (Original) Dvorac Elc (Burg Eltz) je srednjevekovni dvorac smešten u brdima iznad reke Mozel između Koblenca i Trira.

Eltz Castle (German: Burg Eltz) is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle River between Koblenz and Trier, Germany. It is still owned by a branch of the same family (the Eltz family) that lived there in the 12th century, 33 generations ago. Bürresheim Castle, Eltz Castle and Lissingen Castle are the only castles on the left bank of the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate which have never been destroyed.

I didn’t have the chance to go in but the walk till their was worth it! A nice path in the mountain through the trees that ends with the view of the castle on the hilltop! You can hear the river flowing beneath. Many dogs and children!

Went a bit early (9:45) to be ahead of the rush. So it only a few people there and enough place to park the car. Tour was nice with some info abt the rooms we visited. Worth the visit, nice views/area.

Nice castle to visit. We also took the tour. It was interesting if you are into old castles but not worth a second visit for the tour. Once you have seen one there mostly the same. The scenery around the castle is nice.

Beautiful views. The issue is that they only offer other language tours on certain days. You HAVE to take the tour, which is about 30 minutes. It was nice there was a shuttle bus because the hill is no joke. Lines were definitely long, which we attribute to it being summer. Two places to eat, restrooms, and beautiful views.

Date of visit: June 24, 2023 With 2 - - - - After a brisk walk from the station of Müden (Musel) to the castle, we finally arrived at the castle. The entrance was easy to find, signposted everywhere. We could easily buy our tickets by paying by card, of course you can also pay in cash. The queue was not too bad, when we arrived there was only 1 person in front of us. After something to eat in the castle, we decided to first visit the "treasure room" of the castle, beautifully displayed antiques, and well maintained. Then waited for the tour of the castle, the tour was very good and was well explained by the guide. All in all a super nice castle with a very interesting history. Note: It is not recommended to visit this castle for people with a wheelchair or who have difficulty walking.

Visiting the castle takes max 30min, that if you're slowly-paced or if you take the guided 15-min tour too. Not worth it until now, but what is worth it is the surroundings and the views from outside of the castle. If can walk, then take the 15-20min footpath walk (NOT SUITABLE for: wheelchairs/ baby strollers/prams with small-medium wheels - your baby will hate you 😆). There is a €2/person bus service that takes you from the car park and drops you outside of the castle - well worth it as a return alternative to the steep walk back 🤪

Absolutely amazing castle to visit. Construction was going on for part of the front but didn’t obstruct any of our walkways or views. Their is a small museum in the center that is really interesting. We parked with a small fee then about a kilometer and half walk but all shaded and easy terrain to travel.

Bought tickets during the week in mid-July. Didn't need to book in advance. Nice 20- 30mi . Eng speaking tour. Beautiful castle and surrounding area. Could spend a day hiking around and picnicking. The cafe was crowded so we didn't stay.

Very picturesque castle, would definitely recommend a visit. The tour was a real highlight and maybe ~ 1 hour. (No photos inside though) Tickets may be purchased at the front of the castle (don't need to book ahead). There are separate lines for the English tour and the German tour once inside the main walls. I'd recommend trying for the higher parking lot if possible. We parked in the first lower lot and the walk was maybe 45 min to the castle itself and while lovely it was a trek.

One of the most beautiful castles I have ever seen! Take into account that the shuttle bus from the car park to the castle costs 2 euro per person and you can only pay in cash, same for the car park itself. The castle entrance fee you can pay with the credit card. The lines are a little long now due to Corona measures but if you arrive early enough, an hour wait is alright. After noon the sun gets too bright and it's very hot to stand in the line. The castle is really worth visiting. Planning on returning one more time in autumn. ❤️??

Very exciting castle to visit after a hike from the parking lot through nice woods you suddenly see an impressive castle high on the hillside. It's very nice preserved the guided tour was interesting and the view unbeatable. Good entrance price as well. A must see if you're in the area.

Hard to reach, however gives a good glance inside at medieval castles. It would take max 1.5 hours including guided tour. There are cafes with nice beverages too. Castle also has gift shop which could be interesting for little ones.

Eltz Castle is definitely worth the visit of you're in the area. It is still privately owned by a branch the Eltz family. Entrance to the cake grounds is only possible by purchasing a ticket for €11 (adult), which includes a guided tour of about 20 minutes and entrance to the treasury rooms. Definitely well worth it. Parking is located about 700 metres away for €2 per vehicle and there is a shuttle but for €2 per person.

  • 4/5 Steven B. 3 years ago on Google
Such a long queue. If we hadn't gone by bike we would have never gone it. A long walk from the car park to the castle. Not for those who struggle with uphills although there is a shuttle bus.

  • 5/5 Divya P. 3 years ago on Google
The castle is located in a beautiful place, rich in history and guided tours are offered in English/German. The parking spots are quite a distance from the castle, but the walk through the woods is worth it. The small water body right next to the castle is a good place to rest. An alternative to walking could be to hire a shuttle to the castle's front gate. Due to the COVID situation limited entries with only guided tours and compulsary mask inside the castle are allowed. The tours are affordable and student/ other discounts are offered to the prices. Due to limited entries, the waiting time might vary according to the time of visit. The english guide offered had a good knowledge about the place and was very enthusiastic in answering further questions.

Not recommended in corona times. The queue is immense and slow. We decided not to queue. Had a good hike from Treis-Karden though and nice outside views. I would definately recommend to hike there instead of taking the car.

  • 5/5 Victoria G. 3 years ago on Google
Was a really nice tour through the castle. Friendly employees, tried their best to respect the covid hygiene and distance measurements. Through the covid ciscurmstances it was not as relaxed as hope, but that is nothing the castle or employees is to blame about.

Immerhin meist im Wald, also schattig.

Although the castle is closed, the outside is still impressive and the area is pretty. There is a very nice walk leading up to the castle. There is also trails in the area and a pretty stream next to the castle. Save some time for a stroll in the woods.

The castle construction started as far back as 1150 or so and at one time housed three related families. The individual families eventually built their own sections of this castle, separated from one another but still near by. There is some excellent hiking and trails near and around the grounds as well making for a picturesque time in a nice sunny day.

Be prepared to wait in line for about 40-45 minutes. Also, when you park, there is a footpath (15 min walk) to Burg Eltz. For the most part, the castle is in its original condition (with a few additions) as it was one of the few castles that wasn't sacked and destroyed by the enemy.

  • 4/5 Paul S. 3 years ago on Google
Though the entrance (exterior) is the most impressive *(best for Instagram pics), the rest of the castle is also worth visiting. Entrance for adults was about 11 euros each. The tours are all guided and broken up into small groups to help with COVID social distancing. Decent museum in the treasury as well.

Lovely place, well organized tour. All sanitary measures are applied. You can get both English and German brochures as well as the tour itself. Worth visiting. If you are coming by foot and choosing hiking option it is 4.9 km from the Moselkern train station. Choose your shoes wisely, especially in the rainy season it might be slippery and soil is rather wet and dirty. But scenery, nature is very calming and beautiful.

Eltz Castle has the best scenery around. The view is 👌 for photographers. Apart from this a cost of 7€ has to be paid to visit the castle. However, the castle is getting renovated so only half of the castle can be visited now. Also from November the castle will be closed for visitors.

Beautiful castle at the top of the hill. Well maintained and the English speaking guide was super helpful and patient. Go a little early if on a weekend since due to Corona there is some waiting time.

We went on the round trip hike called "Traumpfade" (orange white sign). The trip is around 4-5 hours including the guided tour and the treasury. It has nearly 400 meters of altitude, we walked medium slow, my 75 old mother could do it very well ;) but there is one steep area. We walked the round trip clockwise, although it is officially recommended counter-clockwise. But having this one steep part, I'd rather walk that down but up ;) and this way you have a very nice first view on the castle before entering it (before reaching the castle, there is a small way up the hill on your left to a perfect view point, very nice to have a break with own food - just take litter back with you, there are many bins everywhere). I absolutely recommend doing the guided tour in the castle and the way through the treasury, it is included in the entrance fee of currently 11 Euro.

Loved it. Definitely worth visiting. Be aware that they are not letting people in if they are not vaccinated or don't have a negative test.

One of my favourite castles. Great castle tour and in a beautiful setting

Very nice castle. 2€ for the parking and 11€ the entrance to the castle. If you don't want to walk to the castle from the parking, the distance is 1,3km from the walking path or around 700m from the shuttle road, there is shuttle bus for 2€, you can take also your baby prams in it. We were around 11 and there was no queue, however there is a limited amount of visitors but to covid (350).

Incredible sight! Great tour in English, wish we could’ve seen more of the interiors! Also, you’re not allowed to go inside unless you’re on a tour, they don’t tell you that.

Very beautiful castle and scenic area. You are not allowed to take pictures/video once the guided tour starts. Surrounding area is very green and enjoyable. Once you park the car, it is about 15 min walk/1.2 KM. Definitely a must see. In my opinion, and it's fact that you can see more rooms in this castle than the Neuschwanstein castle. Money and time worth visiting this beauty.

Wow, such a beautiful Castle. Definitely worth it and I did underestimate the beauty of this stunning Castle. I recommend to be there the earliest in the morning. We arrived at 10am and luckily did not had to wait at all. Beautiful place and trip, highly recommended! :)

What can I say? Everyone is right. This place is amazing, Food is really good, and I recommend that you eat after a little restaurant that they have. The gift shop was also really cool. We just had a lot of fun and even a little girls liked it. You definitely need to come here.

One of Europe's great castles. Amazing location too. Lovely cool walk through the forest from the Parking, or a 2 euro shuttle bus. Handicapped people can't really visit the inside castle but the views are worth it.

Beautiful castle! This historic castle was fun to tour. The Treasury had a lot of beat objects. Your admission ticket includes the castle and treasury. Tours in German and English. No pictures on the tour. Only gave 4 stars because you pay for parking and have to pay €2 each way for a bus to shuttle you from the parking lot. The walk is manageable, especially the walk to the castle (downhill). Our tour guide spoke good British English but was a bit dramatic/over the top (think Monty Python). You can also reach the castle by train and a 60 minute stroll along the creek.

Burg Eltz, was worth the 2h drive (avoiding the main roads on Google maps) as it is something out of a fairy tale. There are multiple tours a day, we took the English one (every 20mins). And it was interesting. We had a nice guide for the main building and we were allowed to check out the treasury department on our own. You have to put on a mask, sadly, when you are in the burg. The sell them for 50ct if you don't have one. I will definitely come back again but then I will do the following: we will bring a huge picknick blanket, cheese and wine and other nice things to spend the day in the grass with this majestic castle in the background. The inside is great, but I will never forget the view of the whole thing. Also great place to make selfies. Have fun!

Amazing hike up to the Castle. The tour was highly informative! There is an incredible amount of history associated with the Eltz Castle and family. Definitely a must visit for anyone traveling through the area.

One of my favorite castles in Germany and well worth the visit. The parking is €4 and the entrance is €14 and a tour is included (German and English offered). From the parking area, you can take a bus to the entrance or simply walk/hike there. The hike wasn't bad at all and I feel is part of the overall experience. The castle itself is very well preserved and maintained.

Must visit place. Nice castle and museum. Castle located on top of a mountain with a lot of greenery is great for some nice photos. A River flowing by is easily accessible. Also a nice place for trekking for beginners. Will be nice for a day trip. For those who cannot walk to the castle through the trekking trail, you can take the shuttle bus from the parking lot.

Beautiful historical castle, amazing views and landscape. We really enjoyed our English guided tour that was part of our ticket. The tour was really insightful and interesting. If you're able to hike, would recommend walking down to the castle, see how you go, then at the bottom decide whether you can hike up or take the shuttle for €2 Entrance to the castle was €14, which is alright considering it comes with a guided tour. Also the souvenir shop was amazing, lots of great items for great price

Shuttle bus costs 2€ per person/trip. Those with strong knees should walk down the road to the castle. The entrance ticket comes with a guided tour. The English-speaking guide, from my perspective, is pretty boring. Otherwise, the castle itself is really impressive.

Between its long history held in the same family and it's beautiful yet quiet valley location, easily among the top of all German castles. Certainly one of the most well known. Essentially mandatory visiting here if you're on holiday in the Moselle region. Can be heavily crowded during the day even on workdays. But if you show up at the parking site even just 30 minutes before opening and walk leisurely down the valley path you'll get stunning views with barely a person in them if any.

Amazing magnificent place ! Excursion takes 45 minutes. There is a free toilet and 2 cafes inside. Entrance price is around 15€ plus 2€ is one way bus . Castle is surrounded by mountains so you can walk down to get there and take a bus to go back up the mountain to leave the place.

Loved the castle, nice tour of the inside of the castle too. This is included in the ticket. They offer tours in different languages. Parking is €4, tickets €14. You can walk to the castle, about 20 mins, or take a bus(€2 one way).

A must visit castle! I’d recommend going early in the morning (try arriving at 9:30 when it opens). There are hardly any people at this time and it allowed for great photos. We left the castle at around 11am and it was starting to get very busy! There are tours inside the castle every 30mins, one in German and one in English which alternate. Unfortunately you’re not allowed photos inside but it’s still worthwhile doing the tour (note: there is a separate area inside where you can take photos, separate to the tour). We had about 10 people in our group but when we finished the groups going in looked to be 20+ people. Again try and visit the castle early! I think you can only buy tickets onsite but if you go early there is no line. There’s also a small restaurant/cafe if you’d like something to eat. Finally I’d recommend walking from the car park to the castle (it’s all downhill and not far) and allows for great photos looking down on the castle. If you take the shuttle bus down the hill you won’t have this opportunity.

Beautiful castle that is set up to show what life over the past several centuries would have been like. Our tour guide (I forget her name) was very good at her job. The tour was very informative and she was able to answer all of our off-script questions pleasantly and with humor. The short walk up and back provided great bookends to our visit. It's unfortunate that one cannot take photos inside of the castle.

Very very very nice castle with over 80 rooms. The location is insane, build on top of a rock surrounded by hillsband forrest. Entrance price is 14 euro. Parking is free. Mind you the walk to the castle is about 20 minutes! To the castle is fine, going back could be a struggle. There is a shuttle bus also, 2 euro per person. The castle is only visited by tour! It took some long waiting, about 40 minutes. The treasure chamber excluded, you can walk around there. We took the English tour, perfect! Recomended castle to visit if you are in the neighbourhood.

Absolutely stunning castle. There is a steep road path (paved) and a 1km trail through the woods! Highly recommend the trail! As you will have an amazing view of the castle from a great view point. The entrance fee for the inner castle gets you access to the courtyard as well as German or English guided tours through the inside of the castle (take about 30-35min, short wait during off-season) as well as access to the treasure exhibit. Gift shop, toilets and restaurant inside as well. I definitely would recommend taking a day trip there. For €2 a person l, you can take the shuttle back to the parking lot afterwards.
