We travelled from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, standard class. The journey was 1 hour 15 minutes each way with a half hour stop at Blaenau. The staff were very helpful and informative, and came through with refreshments - ice creams, drinks and snacks. There are various journey options available. Our return journey cost £44 each. There were some nice views of rivers and reservoir/lake but a lot was through the trees. We enjoyed seeing them stoking the engines with coal, etc - all part of a great steam train experience.

We had an amazing day , I booked this in advance for my partner's birthday. The staff and volunteers were lovely and helpful , we booked observation first class and this was 100% worth the money ,you get some breath taking views all the way there and back on this journey. We also paid for the food boxes and the food was lovely and also worth the money . Overall I'd 100% recommended taking this train joinery in any class.

This should have been and was a visit from my childhood. Ivor the engine Jones the steam etc. The station staff and engines fulfilled all of that. The weather had other ideas. High winds and rain delayed the journey, but it still was a truly wonderful experience landslide delayedreturningjourney. Obviously better in better weather !. We had the advantage of seeing some spectacular waterfalls from the rain runoff, so not all was lost ! We had half the ticket price refunded but made a donation back. Staff throughout the day and the problems were fantastic. Check the weather, and it will be a memorable day out.

Traditional station well looked after with toilet facilities. Nice mountain scenery as a backdrop to the station. Blaenau Ffestiniog itself didn't appear to have a lot see but only had approx 35 minutes to look around before catching train back to Porthmadog.

An absolutely wonderful day spent travelling from Blaenau Ffestioniog to Porthmadog. It was a grey, rainy day but still amazing. The staff were great and the views were incredible. There's something about the sound of a steam train that just makes you smile

Simply my favourite railway in the world. The history of the line is fascinating and it’s unique preservation of the original rolling stock and facilities is worth a visit on it’s own. The journey takes over two hours through breathtaking scenery and the engineering used nearly two hundred years ago to build the line is still extremely impressive.

A must see attraction, being a driver I don't see alot of the beautiful Welsh scenery but being a passenger WOW , we choose the mountain spirit trip , and it did not disappoint , first class and afternoon tea box , it will be a memory I will keep forever , the little engine is a marvel of engineering and the driver and stoker were very knowledgeable about the whole experience, would recommend a good day due to the scenery and book inadvance , TOTALLY AMAZING 😲

We really enjoyed our time on the train. The scenery is beautiful. The Spooners pub at Porthmadog is decent and you can get a nice lunch/coffee before you head off on your journey. It is definitely great to experience the steam trains. It takes you back in time and my thanks for the lovely staff on board the trains. The only issue I have is with the exorbitant prices of tickets. £44 per person is crazy especially when it isn't even a full sized steam train like with the Severn Valley Railway for example which costs half that. My Dad went here a couple of years ago and the price was a lot less so he was flabbergasted at the crazy increase in the cost. It might explain why some of the trains looked a bit empty when we watched them the day before our own trip. Is it with the money? Maybe if you are a total train nut but it is hard to justify it when similar places charge significantly less.

👍👍 I've tried a few uplift days, but believe this is the best so far. The advice and help from the centre, uplift speed, chat with the uplift driver all helped to make the day a great experience. Good weather is important if you are a soft southerner like me, but anyway I loved the contrast of the red...
