This is my new favorite restaurant in Cola! The service was outstanding, the food rivaled anything we’ve had in Germany, and the owner, Julia, greeted us and introduced herself as soon as we walked in the door. Such a great atmosphere and everyone working there treats you like family. I got the rouladen and my husband got the cheese schnitzel. Both were amazing and it was so much food for an awesome price. Also have to mention that the beer is delicious too!

I just had a fantastic meal at Julia’s (Authentic German Food). There is enough left over for at least 2 more meals. Her salad is the tops! Most German salads were like hers but have since turned toward American salads. Her double decker is unequaled with cheese and ham in the middle of 2 schnitzels with musroom gravy and cheese sauce on top. THE BEST!!! On top of all that I had to succumb to their homemade Black Forest Cake!!! Julia’s even has German beer on tap, German wine and jagermeister prechilled. One of my favorite spots in Columbia. Be warned that they are packed at times and don’t take credit cards. BTW, they are located near Clemson Road & I-20. Update 8/20/22 Still fantastic!!! Lots of German beer on tap and spirits.

BEST German food around! Have been many times but this was our 1st time to their new location at 120 Sparkleberry Crossing. We went Saturday (Sept 11) with a group of family and friends to celebrate my husband's birthday. Our server, Ky, is a USC student and an excellent server. She catered to all our wishes and did a great job. The food as always was amazing. They even had some Oktoberfest Spaten beer on draft! The new location is large, very accommodating, and decorated with a wide variety of German beer steins and cuckoo clocks. We loved it and had a fabulous time.

Let me tell you. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had. The food was great and the service was absolutely superb. I felt like I was at the bar on the show Cheers where everybody knows your name. This was not only my 1st time trying this restaurant but also trying German cuisine. Fiona was our waitress and she was very knowledgeable. She let us sample sauces and made recommendations. She was absolutely fantastic. And Mr Jamie was at the bar and checked us out at the end. He introduced himself and shook our hands. Thanked us for coming out. I mean I felt like I ate there everyday. Julia and her family should definitely be proud of what they have built bc this is one of the best places to visit in Columbia, SC.

EAT HERE IN COLUMBIA! I travel often and try to eat at local places and this is by far the best food I have ever had in my years of travel! I love places which are traditional to the root and Julia's does not disappoint! Order the Jerryschitzel (not on menu) and be amazed! On top of that the palace is family run and I saw Julia, at over 80 years old cleaning tables! This is so awesome and aligns with my love of people, food, and tradition! Do not miss this place!

Went with a friend and had lunch. The first thing observed was the classic German feel in the surrounding. I ordered a Reuben sandwich pictured here. It was piled with corn beef, sauerkraut and the German sauce. Has to cut it with a fork and use a knife. Delicious 😋 We've become repeat customers.

Very pleased to have Julia’s! First of all sometimes you just want good home cooked comfort food and German home food is one of my favorites. Bursting with flavor, belly filling, and just makes you feel good. While you’re at it - wash it down with top notch beer and the friendly inviting atmosphere that everyone needs once in a while. Julia’s offers all of that. First of all the first time we visited my six year old did the unthinkable. You know the red fire handle that says “Pull”? Well pull he did, and set off the blaring continuous noise of the fire alarm. We were mortified and so sorry but you know what they did? They handled it with complete class and understanding and made us feel welcome and at home anyway. That was amazing because Lord knows that was a reason to be prickly if nothing else 😬 When the alarm was righted (an excruciating 10 minutes or so later) the restaurant cheered in that good old friendly way that said “we blame no one, stuff happens, let’s not worry about it and just commence with food and fun". That’s a place I always want to be in. Now for the food. Delicious!!! Absolutely delicious! The german potato salad I would eat every single day if I could and if you’re not familiar with Schnitzel get familiar! The comfort of fried chicken but exceedingly better. Once you make Lydia’s your comfort food spot you’ll have found a comfort space forever.

Incredible experience!!! I’m so glad this German restaurant is near Columbia! I’ve been learning German for years, have been to Germany twice, and am planning to live there soon. I finally visited Julia’s and was not disappointed! The schnitzel was incredible and the German potato salad equally so. They also gave me and my roommate our radlers for free which was beyond generous. It’s cash only so come prepared, but definitely definitely do come. I will certainly be back soon myself.

The best part of the day was meeting Julia. The food was nothing to rave about the cheesy Jager schnitzel (veal) was cold. The sauce which I asked to be served on the side was also cold. The Jager schnitzel (pork) had few mushrooms in the gravy and was also cold. Both the schnitzel lacked flavor and tasted as if they were prepared earlier and then "warmed." The German potato salad was strong with vinegar and the German salad was from a can. The server was extremely rude as I asked before ordering if there were any special and was told the menu is the menu. I mentioned I wanted a to go order for a friend which I would order before the end of our meal and was asked even before getting our meal were we ready to place that to go order. The place is a cash only they do provide an ATM which charges a fee. When going to get the cash before ordering the server went back to my guest at the table and asked if we were ready to order clearly we were not since one party was not even at the table. Poor customer service I will not recommend nor come back. Unfortunately we did like Julia but the other staff is just rude.

All I can say is Wow!! German cuisine at it’s best. The cheesy jager schnitzel is divine. Real German brotchens (rolls). Friendly family owned place with great service at a good price. See you again soon!

Cheesy Jager Schnitzel and Flavorful Potato Soup 🍲 😎😀 As an avid lover of German cuisine, I was thrilled to discover Julia's German Stammtisch in Columbia, South Carolina. This cozy little restaurant offers an authentic taste of Germany, and I had the pleasure of indulging in their Cheesy Jager Schnitzel and flavorful Potato Soup, both of which left a lasting impression. Let's start with the star of the show: the Cheesy Jager Schnitzel. This dish is a true delight for cheese and meat lovers alike. The schnitzel itself was perfectly breaded and cooked to golden perfection, maintaining a juicy and tender texture on the inside. The rich, earthy flavors of the Jager sauce added a delightful twist to the traditional schnitzel experience. But what truly stole the show was the generous amount of gooey, melted cheese blanketing the schnitzel. Each bite was a harmonious symphony of flavors that left me wanting more. The dish was served with a side of warm, buttery spaetzle and fresh seasonal vegetables, which complemented the schnitzel beautifully. Moving on to the Potato Soup, it was a warm and comforting bowl of goodness. The soup boasted a creamy and velvety texture, with chunks of perfectly cooked potatoes adding a delightful heartiness to every spoonful. The flavors were well-balanced, with a hint of herbs and spices that elevated the overall taste. It was clear that the soup was made with care and attention to detail, and it provided a satisfying start to the meal or a delightful standalone option. Aside from the exceptional dishes, the service at Julia's German Stammtisch was warm and attentive. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful suggestions and ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The cozy and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall charm, making it an ideal spot for a casual lunch or an intimate dinner. While Julia's German Stammtisch delivered an impressive culinary experience, I do wish there were more vegetarian options on the menu to cater to a wider range of preferences. Nonetheless, their Cheesy Jager Schnitzel and Potato Soup were definite highlights, showcasing the skill and passion of the chefs. In conclusion, Julia's German Stammtisch is a gem in Columbia, offering an authentic taste of Germany. Whether you're craving a hearty and cheesy schnitzel or a comforting bowl of potato soup, this restaurant delivers in terms of flavor and ambiance. I highly recommend paying a visit to this culinary haven for a memorable dining experience that will transport your taste buds to the heart of Germany.

Started with the schnitzel fingers which were so tender and delicious, Reuben with German potato salad for entree (pictured below), and finished with German cheesecake which was so light and refreshing. Will definitely be coming back and mad at myself for not going sooner! The Reuben is hands down the best sandwich I’ve had.

First time going and I can say that I was not disappointed in any way shape or form. This was the best food I have had in quite some time, and an amazing selection of tasty beer to go with it. Needless to say there will be many many more trips to Julia's.

We came for dinner and loved it. All of the food tasted homemade, and it brought back memories of an old trip to Germany. They sell numerous varieties of schnitzel, along with other traditional German and Bavarian dishes. They also have a wide variety of German beers on tap. The service was great and our waitress provided excellent recommendations. The portions were quite generous and we ended up with leftovers. The German potato salad was my favorite and even ordered some to take home.

Excellent and authentic German food. As somebody who lived in Germany for a few years as a kid and had a German Oma, the food and decor was all on point. The staff seems really cool too! Also, I see a lot of reviews saying you could only pay with cash or check...I was about to pay with a credit card as of October 2022 when I checked it out. Next time I'm in the area I'll stop by again! I highly recommend this place!
