Disappointed. Maybe too much expectation, but when you pay double price compare to average market price, also with a high class environment and service, you don’t expect the food quality is below average - but that’s the reality. We ordered 2 bento box lunch, which was recommended by waiter. The kalbi set was over cooked, too chewy and bitter. The fish bento is good, but it doesn’t worth for the price as mentioned. My only compliment is given to waiter Jacky, otherwise I would give 1 stars only.

Restaurant is good, food are excellent, tasty food, good portion. Love the place, will back to try different dishes. I gave only 4 stars rating, the missed 1 star was from the receptionist. We went there on Saturday without reservation. Although it's busy night, some forget, but fixed quickly. Waiter/waitress are polite and friendly. Since we walk in, the receptionist sounds not like to looking seats for us. Although many seats available at sushi bar. The lady might be a good receptionist in other places, but definitely not suitable for Japanese restaurant.

Found the space to be overly packed leaning on the side of a can of sardines. Because of the open kitchen, it can feel quite warm if the table is close. Food is above average but portions are disappointing. Appetizers are designed for sharing between 2, barely 3. Flavours are good but not wow. Service was very respectful, the staff did not rush our large table and was waiting for our signal for whenever they were needed

This place seems to build high expectations due to its fantastic interior, classy ambiance, and somewhat higher prices, as most reviews suggest. I want to give a shout-out to the head chef here, along with all the mentioned aspects. He's skilled, professional, and brings out amazing recipes with seasonal ingredients. His long-honed expertise and rich experience shine through in the food. It's a go-to spot for me, and I always bring loved ones when they visit.

This is my second time in over 5 years. And I think for me that says a lot. Was really hoping to give it a second chance since so much time has passed, but unfortunately I don’t have much to boast about. The food was mediocre at best, the salad pretty tasteless and you could tell the lotus chips were not freshly fried. The shrimp was pretty breaded and the oishi sushi was sub-par. Rice was a bit hard and the mayo just masked the flavours for 2 of the 4 sushi’s. The takoyaki wasn’t bad but there was only a tiny octopus piece inside. I did enjoy the agedashi tofu as it was nice and hot, made fresh. I tried to make reservations for 5:45pm, but when I went back to it 5 mins later, it was no longer available so I booked it for 6pm. Upon arriving at 6, the restaurant was literally empty, with maybe 3 other tables occupied. Strange why I couldn’t book 5:45pm. If you are going to catch a movie later or hang out around Enterprise, it’s an easy and convenient option. Perhaps I have higher expectations for Japanese food, and of course to each their own. But for me this didn’t hit the mark.

Always passed by this place but never went inside. Today I decided it was about time to try it out. Ladies and gentlemen it is a bombastic restaurant. Literally everything is fire. The service, decor, and most importantly the customer service. Ordered a few dishes from the menu and everything tasted like Kyoto. I felt like godzilla mashing down the karage, torched sushi, rice bowl, and that God sent Strawberry parfait.. Skip the gym and eat here. Thank you for having me and my wife today.

Delicious food, nice atmosphere, great service. Located inside the Markham VIP complex (beside the GoodLife). Fish tasted fresh and portions were decent, can be on the pricier side but honestly, seems on par with what you're getting.

Brought the family to Kiu, normally visit there for lunch as they have a mid-high price menu but the lunches there are very good value for the food they serve. For dinner we order quite a bit for a family of 6, best I would say was the baked oysters, raw sashimi bowl. It is kids friendly with plastic forks and plates, bowls plus chopsticks. The servers were knowledgeable and super friendly.

Beautiful upscale, clean, cozy Japanese restaurant next to Cineplex Theater on the second floor of the mall. Love the decor and ambience! Excellent food quality, and very polite and friendly customer service. Price is on the higher end but definitely worth it! Would love to go back and recommend to others!

Went here for a quick Saturday lunch and it was quite good. We ordered their Salmon Aburi Oshi and even though I am usually not a fan of torched sushi, but they actually made it quite delicious. I suggest coming here if you are looking for a quick meal after watching a movie.

Restaurant had a very luxurious feeling and experience - furniture and decorations were super aesthetic. Ordered the eel bbq donburi (unagl don) which tasted super rich and came with a side of miso. Only downside of this restaurant is the very small proportions. Friend ordered pork chops and got like 3 pieces.

This restaurant has received too many praises, which is indeed well deserved. so I just want to comment on the wine I ordered ~ Wednesday special. Because it was so delicious that I forgot its name. The bartender, 👉🏻I love she/he!😍 Unexpectedly, She/he made a cocktail like fruit afternoon tea, ☕️🍊🍑took a sip, and the picture immediately appeared in front of me: a ray of sunshine outside the window shone lazily on my face, the bright light danced on the table, the corners of your mouth were slightly raised, and your body couldn't help dancing with the light. This wine made me happy. So nice 🍹🧊🍹👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌹👏🏻

Food is a solid 3.5 but the service and atmosphere bumped this up to a 4 for me. I found the set menu for two to be the best deal for $95. This includes sashimi, choice of oshizushi, choice of udon, choice of main, side salad and choice of ice cream. The stand outs were the sashimi and udon for me. Considering some AYCE sushi places now charge $50 per person, I'd rather come here and have better quality food, service and atmosphere for a little more. Jacky and Brian were our servers and they did a great job with our large group. We brought in a cake and they put a candle and sparkler on it and offered to cut it for us. Very patient and friendly overall. Online reservation for a large group was very easy and they do take note of all the info you give them. They were able to accommodate me pushing back the dinner by an hour, too. Auto gratuity is 18%. Would recommend coming back for a large group celebration.

They were wonderful, we had our anniversary dinner and everything was fantastic! Food is fresh and delicious, ingredients are high quality and menu is very creative. We will come back to try lunch. Our server was kind enough to review the menu with us and suggest some popular items. A bit pricey but a great spot for a special occasion!

My first time here, they did not disappoint me at all. 2 sushi dishes, 1 appetizer and 1 sashimi portion are just enough for two people. Sashimi is fresh, good taste, and the decoration of the dish is also very impressive. I really like the beef tataki, which has beef, garlic, and pomegranate flavors. Reasonable price, not too expensive. In particular, the staff is friendly and gentle. Besides, the space is also very comfortable, clean, located on the 2nd floor of the mall. I will visit next time.

Great service. The fish was definitely fresh and the cuts were generous. Absolutely loved the Salmon Carpaccio and the Otoro. However, I’d only recommend coming here for the sashimi. Some of the dishes we got were definitely underwhelming. I would not recommend the Oshi nor the Karai Cali Maki. The Oshi flavours weren’t as impactful as they should be as every bite felt generic, flavour profile could definitely be improved. Personally I wouldn’t even put the Karai Cali Maki on the menu, nothing about it was special nor impactful.

I normally don't really like sashimi because I often find that the pieces I get are too fishy or not cut in an appetizing way, but i really enjoyed all of the dishes I ordered here. The service was also really attentive and accommodating for most of my time there. The only parts I didn't like were the lobster miso soup, the nori/laver with the takowasa, and this one drink I ordered – but that part was my fault for not reading. The lobster still had the meat inside its shell when the miso soup was served. Wasn't a fan of this because it wasn't that functional in a sense that it wasn't as easy to pull the meat out as it probably should've been. It's pretty, but lobster in general is expensive, so I look to get as much out of a meal as possible, and this particular dish was a bit complicated. The nori/laver with the takowasa: this tasted great, and it was the perfect temperature, but I wish they put a bit more sheets to match the portion! The drink was extremely sweet and reminded me of cough syrup. But that was my fault for not looking at the flavour profiles carefully. It's pretty pricey here, but it was a very satisfying meal and experience.

This restaurant is located on the 2nd floor beside the GoodLife. Interior of restaurant is very nice. We ordered sashimi which was super fresh, udon to fill the stomach which was also good and the chirashi Don was decent. Service was good. Nice place for Japanese fine dining!

Nice atmosphere, nice staff, ok-level food. Dishes have nothing special, despite a price above your regular Japanese Restaurant. You’re paying for a nice ambiance, but the food isn’t on the same level. A good place for a business dinner, rather than for a date.

The food was very tasty. The sashimi was very fresh. We also tried the beef tataki, kamo tataki, chicken karaage and kurobata - all were great. The Kiu Signature roll was torched tableside which was a nice touch. The cocktails looked good too but unfortunately didn’t get a chance to try one.

Food 4.5/5 Price 4/5 for quality Service 4.5/5 Kiu is a great spot for fresh sashimi. I didn't realize that Iishin Ramen is no longer apart of their restaurant so was a bit sad when I didn't see the ramen selection. That being said, friendly staff, efficient and also food came in relatively good time. Menu still offers a good variety from hot dishes to rolls to sashimi, udon and don. Sashimi was fresh, well cut and offered a nice range of higher quality including toro, scallops to say a few. Didn't have that tainted seafood flavour, which is great and can tell its fresh. Good temperature on the cuts. Udon broth was fragrant and not overly salted. Duck meat surprisingly was quite nice after the first chew but I didn't necessarily like the pairing of their duck with the udon soup. Tempura freshly battered and fried. Good crunch and texture with balanced seasoning. Oshisushi was good but nothing too spectacular. Can have less mayo and more flavour forward in this sense. My favourite would be the toro with truffle. Karaage was nice as chicken was juicy and good coating on the outside. Right meat to batter ratio, fresh oil used to try. Salmon carpaccio was nice with the yuzu citrus shining through. Onions gave it another dimension in flavour and texture. Best was the fish roe providing a good salty umami to the salmon.

Good quality food. Had a sampling of things. Notably, the Otoro nigiri was good at $10/pc, but I've had better elsewhere. The chicken karaage was solid! Perfectly seasoned and cooked! Yummy! Lastly the tonkatsu ramen broth was nice and rich. A good choice!

Food was delicious and staff was attentive. We asked to leave some groceries in their freezer and they were very accommodating. When we left the hostess ran after us to ask if we had taken our groceries as she didn't see us walk out with them (we put them inside a second bag). Would give it 5 stars but unfortunately there were many items on the menu we wanted that they didn't have available and we were there for a 630 sitting.

Everyone working here is very nice and it's very pretty inside. The food looks beautiful. I wish that it had vegetarian options, the only thing I saw was the tofu appetizer. If you're not a fish person the options are very limited. Aesthetically pleasing, but expensive for what it is.

High End sushi place in downtown Markham. Torch pressed sushi are not warm enough. Sushi rice is just by average. Note: outside drink is not allowed, so please expect a line up picking up your drink afterwards. They will store your own drink and might mix with other guest’s.

The thing I love most about this place is their attention to detail. Every step of the experience is well thought out and executed flawlessly. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave you are truly treated like a valued guest. Servers, bartenders, and chefs alike stopped by to ensure that everything was up to my expectation. The only thing better than the service was the food, take a look at the effort that goes into the presentation of this sashimi. Even the straw used for their cocktails is the most optimal straw to use because it’s perforated and no ice chips can come through it. Overall fantastic place which I will be enjoying time and time again.

Incredible atmosphere and amazing quality of Sashimi! Love the 8 kinds of seasonal sashimi platter with lobster soup! Lamb chops were also well cooked, juicy and tender. But baked oysters were not available at the time of visit, which was quite disappointed. Strongly recommend to call and see the availability of food before dropping by. Portion of food is slightly less than before compared to the price they charged. Would recommend to fine dining lovers But not big eaters.

A pleasant dining experience! Celebrated a friend's birthday and she enjoyed the experience and the meal. The menu selection was extensive and both raw and cooked dishes were prepared well. The service we had was attentive though we did have the earlier dining reservation at 5:30pm. When the evening got busier, the service was slightly slower understandably. However the servers were kind and acknowledged the wait, which we appreciated. The food was delicious! We enjoyed the sashimi and sashimi don. The special we had, the truffle negitoro tartare, was really rich and flavourful. The dasu dentgaku was prepared with lesser miso than I preferred based on the presentation but the eggplant was still well charred and delicious. They also carry tea from Japan for sale. It caught my eye as the tea-infused desserts we had were amazing. I really enjoyed the houjicha affogato - the houjicha ice cream was rich in tea flavour and in colour. The espresso shot was from nespresso. The houjicha tiramisu was rich and decadent. The tea flavour was evident. Will visit again for another special occasion!

Yesterday was our 10th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY! We arrived slightly earlier than our reservation. I can say that this place was remarkable. The service was amazing. Our Server was amazing. We were also treated with a complimentary drink (also bubbly was not my thing ... but it was unexpected). Food was tremendously fresh. Beef Tataki, Salmon Aburi Oshi, Sashimi (5 varieties), Monkfish Karaage, Baked Oyster, Sushi Don ... all very very fresh. Presentation was great. All in all ... it was just a perfect amount of food and a perfect night out for a special night.
