The place is as good as it sounds! Can't wait to take the whole family there soon! Exceeded my expectations. As a Native New Mexican this gets my stamp of approval!

One of my favorite lunch places. The food is great and the service is fast. Steve is the owner and he is super kind. Locally owned business and the business gives back to the community often. Can't ask for better than that. We have had several meals catered by Hot Tamales and it's always great 👍 if you read this review please click "like" it helps my feelings. Thanks UPDATE... another great lunch at Hot Tomales!!! This time I got the Tomale Cakes... they were SO good!! Service was excellent as well.

Ate here twice while visiting town: once for dinner and once for breakfast. For dinner we had beef fajitas, and stuffed sopapillas. Both meals were great, although we felt like the beef in the fajitas was a little dry and the tortillas seemed store bought where I would have preferred homemade. I think the stuffed sopapillas were an inspired dish and I chose to have them with beef and chicken as well as both sauces to really try out all the options. Next time I’d probably ask to add lettuce and tomatoes and maybe sour cream. For breakfast I had chicken enchiladas and eggs and added a side of pinto beans. Again, I split the sauces. This was my favorite meal of them all as I’m a big breakfast fan. All the meals came with sopapillas which was wonderful as I like those with honey as a desert but I used half of one to sop up the eggs and chili at breakfast. Service was ok for both meals but it’s clear they are short on staffing as most places are these days. It’s just the way it is in the restaurant industry and the team does their best. Will definitely be back next time we’re in town.

We went out of our way to find a good Navajo Taco and were not disappointed! They use the same delicious dough for their sopapillas. The burritos, enchilada and especially the beans were remarkable. Prices are very reasonable and portions are large. Lunch menu is cheaper and a good way to sample the menu items. Service was friendly and fast, despite being almost at capacity during lunch. There's a reason they are popular. 😎 Clean and COVID conscious. Parking is limited. Their red and green chili's are homemade authentic attractions all by themselves and feature with complimentary chips y salsa.

Such a friendly place. My first time here. Located in Rio Rancho since early 2000 or so. The food was great and the interior was very inviting and colorful. The wait staff was great and very helpful and accommodating!

My first time visiting, and let me tell you, for the prices their portions aren't stingy as compared to other restaurants I've been to. I highly recommend their green chile over red chile and their shredded beef and chicken over anything else. But this is my preference, overall tasty place with good customer service.

Stopped by on my 3rd business trip and immediately realized I should have visited this place on my first trip. Chips and salsa to get started is always a nice treat. Welcoming atmosphere, great staff, great food. Food was ready very quickly. I’m definitely coming back again

I discovered Hot Tamales during the pandemic, after living in the area for 6 YEARS!!! I’m so mad I didn’t find them sooner. The tamales cakes (pictured) are out of this world. Some times I go just for those and the chips and salsa. The calabacitas soup is my go to meal. The service is always in point and I’ve never had a bad meal. Don’t even get me started on their BREAKFAST. 😍😍😍

We were served salsa and chips to start Salsa has a smokey flavor in the background I had stacked chicken enchiladas with green chili and they were excellent! Served with rice and charro beans. Everything tasted very fresh. Could not ask for more from the food. Finished the meal with the best natillas I've had in a long long time.

Great quality, professional courteous service at a great price. I had the La Prima three tacos with crema, cabbage and carne . Very good 👍. The sopapilla was so fresh. My sister's ordered the Chile and Navajo taco.

From the menu, to the food, to the service and the ambiance this needs to be on your list of restaurants to visit for traditional New Mexican food. No matter if you're local or if you're visiting you'll not only love the food but the chill atmosphere.

I had seen this place many times and thought it was a tamale store lol. I've come twice for breakfast on a Sunday and both times it was really good. They're very busy but they have the room and tables come up quickly. The service is good and the menu is plentiful. All in all a great place to eat New Mexican food!

Food was great. Red and green had both flavor and some kick. Queso is good as are the sopapillas. Take out service was not the best. If the person at the front counter doesn’t hear when the kitchen calls out that a given takeout order is ready, you’re going to be waiting for a bit, but not a huge deal

They have a huge and varied menu here! This restaurant is not one that jumps out at you when you're driving by on the street. I was introduced to it recently on a business trip. Apparently it's very popular with folks who live in Rio Rancho. The service was excellent. I had the enchilada casserole and it was outstanding! Not very often that you see a restaurant put a home-cook item on the menu. Their casserole was reminiscent of high quality church potluck fare. A must try!

Great service and great food! I had to change my order to go, and the waitress was very understanding and helpful.

I ordered the tamale cake salad and was impressed with a novel idea! There was way too much dressing on the lettuce tho. Family really enjoyed the fajita burrito, enchilada casserole, and my mother is in love with the Chile relleno here!!! Very good green Chile flavor with some heat, perfect! Very tasty salsa also....

This has become one of our regular spots to order take out for great NM food. Some places, the quality declines with carry out, but not here. Everything is still fresh when we get home! The service at the front is always great and the food is always delicious. A must when in Rio Rancho!

I really like their green chile! It was very tasty! I did not like the salsa. I'm not sure that flavor in it- kinda BBQ taste- was not a fan. Both chiles- red and green were hot🔥 Good service!

Was very good. I had a taco, relleno, and enchilada, with rice and beans. My dinner companions had the chicken enchilada casserole which they really enjoyed. Chili was just hot enough and even though the place was full we had great service. Great food and decent pricing, you can't miss this place.

First Time Visiting with friends. Party of 5. Long wait to be seated. And several others were seated before us. The Food was pretty good but they messed up our orders. We decided to just eat what we got so we didn't have to wait. Raspberry tea was good I feel prices were a bit high but Im not from that area so I can't compare to anywhere else. Waiter was friendly and very attentive. Apologized for food mix ups.

First time customers! Wasn't disappointed. Seems like a very popular place to eat. Restaurant opened at 11am, we arrived 15 minutes early thinking they opened earlier, and a whole bunch of cars started pulling up. We lined up, and were let in at open. We were seated right away, and was helped by a team of friendly staff. Our server was Nicole and man was she Excellent! Fast, friendly and very capable of multi-tasking. The food was good, (hot and delicious.) We will be back!
