Such a beautiful, luxury design hotel! We loved our stay here, the staff was wonderful, food was amazing and the hotel absolutely stunning! The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfast I’ve had in a long time, and the tasting menu was incredible. The perfect place to come to for a relaxing holiday. Location may be a bit secluded, but the have bikes to rent for anyone wanting to do a bit of exploring. Couldn’t recommend higher!

This is a luxury hotel in the middle of nowhere :) The welcome was lovely and we were taken to our Flora lodge including a welcome drink. The resort is in a Bali like location. Everywhere are palms, lemon trees and lizards running around. The breakfast is the best. You can have buffet plus a la carte orders. However we have to say that some improvements are required to be a top hotel or that the prices get adjusted. Its just too expensive compared to what you get. The equipment is not always high class, there was instruction ongoing, pool was still closed, the drinks are with 15 Euro per cocktail simply too high. The location is top and you will feel relaxed when you sit out in the green enjoying your coffee and cannoli, however it needs to be to a fair price.

Together with my wife we have spent few days in romantic lodge with jacuzzi, celebrating my birthday and our anniversary. The overall experience was simply outstanding! From booking our stay to the moment of checking out, everything was flawless. Donna Carmela’s whole property is beautiful, the setup, décor, it’s grounds, interiors etc. Our room was luxurious yet a bit minimalistic- in a good way. It was clean, with every amenity you would need, we enjoyed the terrace and heated jacuzzi, it had fantastic views of the grounds and the sea, and even the view from bathroom window was very pleasant (exotic, resembled Bali). Plush towels and bathrobes, very comfortable king bed, slippers, minibar etc. (even flip flops, beach towels and umbrella were provided). The lodges are well planned with lots of plants surrounding them make you feel secluded yet close to the main building and, swimming pool, restaurant, and the parking. Speaking of the restaurant, colazione (breakfast) was a’la carte (from something as simple as scrambled eggs, pancakes, porridge, to more sophisticated like eggs Benedictine, Parma ham, Italian arancini, bombetta or granita with brioche), large selection of other products, everybody will find something for himself, every palate will be satisfied, I guarantee that to you. When it comes to dinner, all we can say – absolutely fabulous, compliments to the chef and the staff, all awards are well deserved. Tuna fish tartare, ceviche, spaghetti with lobster, risotto with sausage ragout and saffron, lobster with pumpkin and Sicilian cheese, amuse bouche and starters, everything was delicious, and portions were quite generous. Great wine selection. The bar had quite a choice of alcohol, whenever you wanted to have some drinks before or after dinner also snacks served there with drinks deserve to be mentioned. Complementing all the positives listed above (not all were described by me, there were a lot of positive details that I omitted intentionally or not) was the staff, all the above would have not existed without wonderful people working there, making sure that our stay was one of the best hotel experiences so far. Again, starting from first phone call/e-mail exchange booking our stay, to the greeting, where we were welcomed by personnel member in front of our car when we arrived, the check in, the introduction to our lodge, guest relations, receptionists, managers, concierge, waiters- from ladies serving breakfast, though professional bartender and servers in the restaurant during dinner time. Housekeeping, groundskeeping etc. Everybody, I mean literally every single person we’ve meet during our stay was professional, helpful, attentive, and always smiling, making sure and going extra mile for our stay to be exceptional. Some special thanks to name just the two; Grazia Casisi and Elia Tomarchio, we appreciate everything you and the rest of your team did for us and would do for every guest. To the Faro Family: you have created a very a gorgeous and special place, congratulations, keep it up! Next time in eastern Sicily and we will definitely be staying again in this fantastic resort.

The stay at this hotel was an incredibly unique experience! We were greeted warmly upon arrival, and the professionalism and care from the staff were highly noticeable. Our two-story room was simply wonderful. The on-site first-class restaurant delivered a phenomenal dining experience - the ambiance, the flavors, and the remarkable service were second to none. The following morning, an unexpected event occurred. Sicily was hit by an extreme heatwave which led to wildfires, ultimately reaching the hotel. Initial moments were a bit disordered, but thankfully, everyone was safe and we were moved to the nearby HQ of the family’s plant nurseries. Astonishingly, the staff managed to recover most personal items from the main hotel building, and all guests were rebooked in equivalent nearby hotels. It was a profoundly moving experience, and the staff showcased outstanding professionalism. There were minor hiccups when it came to the rental car, which was damaged by the fire. Communication delays caused some stress with the rental agency and nearly made us miss our flight. Also, we had to cover a hefty deductible, but we understand that this wouldn't be the hotel's responsibility. Given the unprecedented circumstances, which were entirely beyond the hotel's control, it was surprising to find the full charge for our stay and incidentals on the credit card. Additionally, we didn't receive any formal invoice. I'm confident the hotel, being a part of the Faro company, would have adequate insurance coverage for lost business revenue. My respect for the hotel and its incredible staff remains high, although the final financial details left us feeling a bit overlooked. I hope to see these minor issues rectified soon, considering the extraordinary circumstances.

Great place to stop for a few days. Our room had a great view of Etna, smouldering in the distance. The staff here were very welcoming and always helpful. The restaurant was lovely. We tried the taster menu one night for a celebration and I can really recommend it. Breakfast was really good and most people say in the garden for this. The location is a bit tricky if you are driving - we picked up a car at the airport and drove there. There is nothing accessible locally unless you have a car or organise paid transport. When we first arrived we were appalled by the rubbish bags lying in the road verges. We wondered what sort of place we had come to. But we subsequently found this is, unfortunately, pretty normal in the some of the more rural areas. So nothing to worry about. We visited Toarmina and Etna from here. I didn't fancy driving into Catania having seen how busy it was.

Wonderful place and the highlight of our trip to Sicily. Great rooms, an excellent restaurant, peaceful surrounds and awesome staff. Little touches like the welcome gifts, the bikes, the WhatsApp service all make this even better. Thank you!

Our second time at Donna Carmela, it's such a stunning property with great attention to detail, cozy rooms, amazing food and the friendliest and most helpful staff you could ask for. We can't wait to come back for our wedding this summer.

Beautiful hotel with incredible hospitable environment and staff which made us feel in holiday mode. We didn't want to leave! Feels very private, has a view of Mt Etna, everything was put together beautifully to create a soft and charming ambience. We'd stay again in a heartbeat. Dinner was expensive, so might skip that but breakfast was great. AC in the room leaked but staff were responsive and tried to get it fixed promptly. The room was too humid for my comfort at times and not cold enough, but by no means a dealbreaker.

The resort is very pretty. The grounds and common spaces are lovely, well designed and certainly places you'd want to spend time. The whole resort is very clean and fresh. The room we had was much more sparse and minimal than the common spaces but still squeaky clean. Unfortunately, the room we stayed in it looked NOTHING like the photos online, none of the decor or details and somewhat out of date. The welcome we received was great, after a long day of travel we felt very comfortable and taken care of. The restaurant needs a lot of help. Dinner service is slow, inattentive and often provides no follow through. The food is plated with flare but there's nothing behind it. Breakfast is a little better. The other people in the dining room all seemed annoyed with the staff, often lecturing them and trying to speak to them in the service stations, which seemed very odd. A generally demanding middle-aged crowd.

A wonderful resort, very hospitable, fantastically designed, authentically Italian, a very good experience and most friendly staff, a special thanks for the receptionist Carmen

I had an exceptional stay at this hotel, rooms, service, and amenities were all well above what I had expected. Should I find myself in this part of Sicily again I will most certainly be back.

Called the hotel to book a room in person vs a travel website. The guy who answered the phone spoke zero English. I asked if he could transfer me to someone who spoke English and his exact words were no, then he hung up on me. Extremely disappointed on the customer service I just received, especially for the prices this place charges. I am glad I did not book a room here.. I could only image what the customer service would be like once onsite. Read the recent negative reviews... Its all making sense now.

This is the place where to stay when in Sicily! Very well-managed hotel with great staff that takes pride in what they do. The grounds are looked after and kept well. Great local food from the kitchen too.

A visually beautiful hotel - the staff are incredible and offered some of the best service I've ever received. Everyone was extremely nice and cordial, and the ground and garden are beautiful and everything was immaculately cared for. I have only one reason to fault this hotel, and that is a two part thing; 1, it is extremely isolated, you will need a car and renting one in Sicily is really difficult and expensive there is really nothing around and the hotel does not seem to do anything to make the hotel more accessible and better connected despite being very close to a train station. Two, while the hotel is beautiful, there is literally nothing to do there apart from sit by the pool. You can't even really take much of a walk anywhere in the countryside either. If there was any sort of better organised stuff, or even something like a tennis court, yoga, anything really, it would be great and make the stay a lot more dynamic and appealing to younger people (who still want to relax).

I recently stayed at this hotel, and overall, it was a positive experience. The standout feature was undoubtedly the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. Their warm smiles and willingness to assist made my stay much more enjoyable. The highlight of my stay was the breakfast. There was an abundance of choices, ranging from continental delights to hot dishes. The breakfast was truly superb and provided an excellent start to the day. One area that fell short, however, was the poolside snacks. They didn't quite match the overall quality of the hotel, and I had hoped for more refined options. Regarding the pool, it was a bit of a letdown. While the hotel exudes luxury in many aspects, the pool was relatively small and not as inviting as I had anticipated. It didn't quite align with the rest of the amenities and the overall atmosphere of the hotel. In summary, my stay here was positive, primarily due to the exceptionally friendly staff, excellent breakfast, and impeccable cleanliness.
