I am passing through Roanoke Rapids, NC as it's the midpoint of a hellish 21-hr journey. Not feeling keen to eat yet more fast food we came here for dinner and were totally surprised as to how GOOD the food was. I usually don't even like Mexican style rice and beans whatsoever... but this place? I don't know what they put in it but it was so good I finished my plate. I got the Chili Verde and my daughter got a combo from the vegetarian menu and also raved about her plate. Our waitress was no nonsense at first but after I told her how much we liked it, she warmed up and we had a whole beautiful and personal conversation. I usually don't leave random reviews like this, but this place deserves it. Update: I returned here on the way back from said hellish journey just so I could eat here and ordered the same thing, and it was divine. Honestly the best TexMex I've ever had.

The first time I went the waiter was horrible, he didn’t check on us and screamed from the front door was we good. The employees was preoccupied with conversation and interacting with regulars like everything else wasn’t there. The food was okay. Rate 1/5 stars Update 01/2022: I recently went again. The best AUTHENTIC Mexican cusine around. Loved the homade tortillas! The Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The Shrimp fajitas rocked along with the chimmichungas!!

This is an excellent place to. Eat when you are driving via i95 drop in to enjoy yummy tasty authentic mexican food.. We tried shrimp fajita and chicken friend chimichange and we should say were really some. Of. The best tasting fajithas we ever had.. The restaurant from outside might look a. Bit boring but the food inside is definitely worth the visit... A must try restaurant for. Mexican food lovers!!

We found this spot as we headed home from SC. We wanted delicious authentic Mexican and this place delivered. The waitress was quiet but attentive. The pork carnitas were divine as were the chicken fajitas. The few extra minutes drive off 95 is so worth it. Thank you!

We love this place. Great Tex-Mex flavors. Big extensive menu. Good drinks. Good service, everyone has always been very friendly with us. This place gets busy busy during peak dining hours. Good beans and rice builds a great base to everything else they make. California Burrito, Carnitas, Crispy Taco, Enchiladas, and Fajitas are all things we have tried. They serve a unique white dip along with chips and salsa, we love that too.

My family of 6 has been here a few times and we really like it. We tried another local place with a similar rating, and we definitely prefer this restaurant. The white sauce, salsa, and cheese dip are all good. Everything we have ordered so far, we have enjoyed with the exception of my youngest kids getting a kids meal that included fries, and they didn't like the fries and said they were too salty (both times they tried them). We have enjoyed the food and the service, and this is our favorite Mexican restaurant in town!

This is a very nice restaurant in our area. The pricing is great. The service is always A+. The food is always fresh and delicious! I highly recommend giving El Tenampa a go for dinner!

It was good, but being from the Sonora Mexico area it didn't quite compare. Better then a few others we've tried. Recommend giving them a try.

So $.29 short of $50 for dinner… Takeout… That will be my last takeout and my last going there for food… Steak burrito fajita was OK 4 out of 10.. the steak quesadilla was awful. It was on a dry corn shell, and it should have been a flour tortilla no taste whatsoever… My shrimp tacos as well. We’re on a corn dry-no tasting shell as well and I have always had them on a flower show everywhere I’ve, and there was only pico to Gallo and hot sauce to put on them. No sour cream, no cheese, and usually most restaurants have a creamy sauce that put them over the top. This did not. I was really mad when the four dollar guacamole I ordered.. was what I could bought at Food Lion it was it was in a very small container not much bigger than the sauce Takeout container they give you it had absolutely no diced tomatoes no red onion no jalapeño. Tasteless and I paid four dollars for it. I was very disappointed in our food and will not return especially when it was $.29 from a being $50 meal.

Good food and good service. Service is always very fast and never have a problem with getting food. Prices increased on my favorite dishes but other than that pretty good restaurant. Also enjoy the familial atmosphere.
