This was a really nice walk and a really nice over look area I would highly recommend going up and spending some time and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We will definitely stop by again when ever we are back in the Roanoke Virginia area.

The Park was amazing, especially the flower garden, so many flowers, not a ton was bloomed this time of year, but it was a nice little walk through the place, very relaxing, huge tree to see, fairy garden, catapillar nests, and also can get to the Zoo.

Gorgeous views of the city of Roanoke from this landmark. Beautiful scenery going up the hill, and front row parking lot. Bit outdated facilities make me take a star away. Also restrooms are typical forest attractions, no upgrades.

We enjoyed the scenic overlook but need to return on a clear day. Our visit was cut short by rain. I know there were trails to explore and gardens to see as well. We also did not see the star lit up at night.

Great view! The star is actually the world's largest man-made in history and it has a camera at the top where you can see yourself on the website. Cool trails, awesome discovery center and overall a great time! Just watch out for those ear pops😉😂

Mill Mountain Zoo is always a fun time! It's not a big zoo, but they work with several conservation organizations and do a lot of good! The Mill Mountain Star overlook is also wonderful to visit at the same time.

A must for anyone living in or visiting Roanoke. The view of the city from the overlook is gorgeous, there's a great little playground for the kids, and there's the iconic Star itself. Do yourself a favor and go enjoy the lovely trails and experience a Roanoke treasure.

Very cool overlook point.. Definitely better at night! But great view (if not hazy) of Roanoke! Super easy parking at the top and nice, short drive from main road.

What a beautiful area to take in the evening sights of Roanoke, VA. Not quite enough parking areas though. We got lucky as someone pulled out. We took a nice stroll around and waited for dusk so we could see the star all lit up in its glory, and Roanoke sunset and lights everywhere. Beautiful.

A fun day spent with the family (kids & grandkids). The zoo was fun! The scenery was beautiful. The visitor center was FUN, too. Interactive and enjoyed by the entire family. Staff was great, too...Friendly and knowledgeable.

Cool to see if you're in the area. There is an overlook with a map to show which area is which. As others have said, GPS only takes you to the base of the mountain. Just continue to follow the road and read the signs. There is a small parking lot at the top

Enjoyed visiting the star and finally seeing it up close. I always looked for it as a kid when we would visit our family in Roanoke. It's nice that there's parking very close that allowed my 86 year old grandmother to get to see it and the city overlook also.

The star sits perched atop Mill Mountain and overlooks the surrounding valley and Blue Ridge Mountains, serving as a beacon and welcoming sign to visitors. It is illuminated every night. As the largest, free-standing, man-made, illuminated star in the world, the Roanoke Star is one of the most photographed attractions in the area and the scenic overlook at the base of the structure is a popular stop for an incredible view of the region.

Beautiful trail and overlook. Mill Mountain Park with its star is iconic in Roanoke. You CAN NOT complete your trip without stopping here. Also get your friends back home to see you on the overlook by pulling up the star city cam. It is family friendly, beautiful and breath taking every time you go and at any time of year. Although fall is my favorite anytime I go I'm never disappointed. FYI: there are restrooms on site.

A cool place in every sense. The park features tree-lined pathways, a wild flower garden and a small zoo.

Beautiful views, trails, and Gradens. Got there too late for the zoo but will be doing that soon.

By far this overlook provides the best views of Roanoke. The star is massive and can be seen for miles. There are lots of things to do up there and getting up close and personal with the star is highly advised! ⭐️

What a lovely little stop if you're in the area to catch a beautiful view, especially at sunset. Peer over town and see the sky meet the urban ground and watch twinkles of city lights transition as you stay there from when the sun fades and night creeps in. Great spot for pictures too when the star behind lights up the balcony whilst you have a beautiful backdrop. The car park was pretty full though when I got there! Not a big car park.

The Discovery Center and playgrounds were unimpressive. The zoo is small but still worth checking out if you’re already at the park.

Nice area for picnics, kids to run around and play, see the Roanoke Star and get a great view of Roanoke. Unfortunately for us, it was a little hazy due to a nearby brush fire, but hopefully that will be out soon.

My best friend and I hiked the Mill Mountain Star Trail to the summit on Thanksgiving morning. The trail is well maintained, and the view of Roanoke from the Star overlook is breathtaking. There is a restroom facility at the summit, but the urine smell in the men's room is strong enough to burn your nose. Otherwise, it is a great part of Roanoke to visit. I highly recommend it.

The observation deck gives an awesome view of Roanoke and the surrounding park is very pretty and has plenty of room to walk around. Have to admit, the star seemed smaller than I imagined, even up close, but still, it’s an iconic destination and a tribute, so I think it’s worth the stop if in the area.
