There needs to be a time cap on the jacuzzi. It’s so unfair that every time I come to use the pool, the jacuzzi is occupied with the same 4 people using it for 40 mins. As a young woman I don’t want to get in a jacuzzi with 4 old men. I pay to use the facilities every month and find it extremely annoying that the same people don’t let others use the jacuzzi.

I joined this gym 1 week ago. Constantly answered the phone and were ringing me. Tried ringing at 9AM this morning and STILL haven’t got into touch with them after being passed from pillar to post with different departments and being PROMISED a call back(promised a call back at 6PM and it’s now 8PM). 11 hours of calling and haven’t got through to them, furious is not the word. Will be cancelling my membership when I’m next off work! Such a shame because the facilities are amazing and definitely worth it but not worth the price you’re paying when you can’t even speak to someone.

Writing this on behalf of myself and my wife Emma. We’ve both had personal training sessions with Connor at the Village Bury twice a week for the last 2 years. Also gotten to know a few other members of staff /PT’s in the gym over this period. Connor is a professional and is highly skilled at his job. He’s delivered great results fitness-wise for both of us, and made coming to the gym an enjoyable experience which I never thought I’d say! The gym has recently been refurbished and it’s a great, positive environment to work out in. To be honest we’re shocked to see the *anonymous* comments about a PT apparently making derogatory remarks about other people’s workouts. That’s not our experience of Connor or any of the other PT’s - they’re all friendly and approachable with everyone in the gym. Connor doesn’t have a bad word to say about anybody. I guess it’s really easy to post things anonymously online, but if you have genuine concerns about something it’s a weird way to go about raising them in our opinion. Keep doing what you’re doing Connor and the rest of the PT/fitness team. We’d have no hesitation recommending any of you to friends/family. 5 *.

First time visit to a gym and they were very welcoming and reassuring. Showing us the equipment and then setting us free to get stuck in. Lovely and clean and plenty of wipes and cleaning equipment on hand.

Village gym Bury is amazing, great atmosphere, friendly staff and the best instructors, including Adam Popowski, team coordinator. He does a brilliant job of keeping us all happy.

I have been a member for many years. I pay up front yearly as this suits my lifestyle. I have had to freeze my membership several times for various personal reasons. I have the App but I am not very IT savvy . Gina Mellor one of the sales Managers has always supported me with any issues. She promptly answers emails and goes out of her way to resolve issues . She is always bubbly and professional . As a result I have encouraged friends to join a .

I love the village gym and I’m a class junkie. I’ve got to say I love Adam Popowski, his classes are full of energy and enthusiasm and he knows exactly how to get me working! His presence at the gym brightens the place up and I know all the external trainers love him and they too are exemplary in the way they facilitate the classes 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️

I have been a member of this gym for at least 5 years. I used to attend Aqua and Pilates classes and use the gym. I have also trained with PT Connor twice a week who has been excellent in helping me with my various issue due to osteoarthritis. In fact I would have left this gym years ago if it hadn’t been for Connor who makes my training fun and helps me achieve my potential even though I am nearly 70. My fitness has really improved and so has my overall strength. Connor makes it fun which means I look forwards to my PT sessions. I used to enjoy swimming but I find the saunas and jacuzzis are always full and usually with men. Unfortunately I have given up trying to book classes as I refuse to upgrade my membership as this gym is very overpriced and the cleaning leaves a lot to be desired. However I do acknowledge the new gym equipment has made a big difference but there needs to always be a trainer in attendance to help with using the new equipment or to deal with accidents and also a more efficient cleaning team. I would give this gym 3 stars but because of the new equipment I’ve given it 4. However I would give Connor 5 stars.

Been a member of the village gym for a number of years. More recently, the staff have made an effort to engage with customers more and provide a friendly space to train. The new equipment was way over due and is a big plus! I currently do 2x PT sessions a week with Connor who is an asset to the club. His knowledge, both in training and nutrition, is incredible. He constantly pushes me out of my comfort zone and gets me results I haven’t been able to get anywhere else. Cannot recommend him enough!

Overheard staff say 'I earned a bonus for signing up these mugs'. Overpriced and definitely not worth it even according to their staff. After this comment will be terminating my contract.

Nice gym and classes! The staff is lovely. *I would have given five stars if cleanliness in the changing rooms and swimming pool was better. I have found hair in the soap dispenser, garbage in the pool and dust in the showers. Also, there's no encouragement towards members in wiping the equipment after each use which sometimes is disgusting when you touch somebody else's bodily fluids.

Sauna & steam room are always full of men, no female sauna or hours. Once there was even a man using a phone in the sauna and staff didn't confront him when complained about. Women pay the same money as the men but most won't use the suana facilities.

I purchased a 10 day pass and was told that I could use it from 5am. I arrived at 5:50 and was told that I wasn't allowed in until 6am. I was made to go back to my car for the sake of 10 minutes despite there being staff on reception. Miss sold the pass and received rude customer service. This gym is also very difficult, I have called around 15 times now and they never pick up. I was willing to join this gym but not with this awful service. This incident has probably cost them £600 in revenue.

Poor value for money hotel. Barebones, no frill rooms (without gym/spa access) for Manchester city centre rates. Rooms had poor soundproofing meaning any whisper in the corridor could be heard clear as day in the room. No concierge, all automated systems, so no one to ask questions of. Disappointing experience.

I’ve been a member of Village Gym in Bury for a number of years. After trying several others in the area, this is absolutely the best. They did such an amazing job during the pandemic and continue to provide an excellent service. The class’ and instructors are second to none. They keep me coming back regularly and are the main reason I won’t even consider going elsewhere. They’re enthusiastic, knowledgable and really positive friendly folk; they makes the classes super fun and really worthwhile. There is an extensive and broad range of classes on offer, generally something for everyone. Once you’ve been going for a little while, you realise the real sense of community in the place, with the trainers and the other members…it’s worth every penny of membership. The rest of the gym staff are super too; always a smile on the entrance desk and everyone genuinely looks happy to be there. The gym is well looked after and has a pretty diverse range of equipment and in volume (never have issues getting on what I need). Decent sized pool, sauna and stream room a big plus. All-in-all, Village do a fantastic job.

I have been a gym member since it opened years ago. I wouldn’t go to any other gym it’s the best around by far - first when you arrive you do not have to worry about parking your car as they have a massive car park. The staff are always on hand should you have any issues- Gina in reservation who I have known for years with being a member is always on hand to help new customers get the best deal possible. The manager Kate who again is extremely helpful and does listen to customers request. The reception team oh my so lovely too many to mention and again always try to help and assist as much as they can . A special mention to Tyler who went out of his way to help me the other day when I had an issue which he sorted in no time . The gym is absolutely brilliant you cannot go wrong, so much equipment and they are always adding to improve wherever possible. The large swimming pool is a massive hit - if you don’t like going into the gym then you can always use the big swimming pool and then finish with a Sauna - Steam room and jacuzzi. Don’t think about join or go and have a look round you will be more than welcome If you want to get fitter and stronger or just go for swim then join today !!

Great gym . Great opening hours . Can get busy at certain times off day . Mens locker room showers and doors definitely need attention. Apart from that really good ..

This is the best gym I've been a member of in over 25 years. It's a sociable place and the instructors, especially the wonderful Adam. Popowski make sure the classes are superb and cover arranged when an instructor can't make it. Other places just let you turn up and discover classes are cancelled. It is not a cheap gym but it is great value.

Joined many years ago on a yearly membership which was competitively priced, however they "refurbished" the gym and that involved splitting the weights area across 2 rooms which is counter productive as you could give up your bench wanting to use the Smith rack, but as it's in a different room you don't know if it's a available until it's too late. After covid the members changed, and I found the gym regularly in untidy ways with weights/mats left in the middle of the floor. Frequently found treadmills covered in sweat drops and not cleaned by previous user. And when it came to renewal the annual price I previously had was not honoured and jumped a massive £120. I left and signed up with Total Fitness. Cheaper and generally cleaner with better jacuzzi and pool facilities.

Love this gym. I'm a bit of a noob and I've never been to a more welcoming gym. The pool and jacuzzi are the nuts. Very glad I joined.

Extortionate cost for what you get compared to other gyms. Heard staff talking about how this is the worst gym in Bury. Staff honestly seem like they don’t want to be there and most of the time ignore you apart from the odd one who was nice. Showers in a state of disrepair even after fitting them all with new shower heads. Unable to ever use the pool because whenever I visit it’s either full of kids or too busy to actually swim laps. Sauna and steam room always full of old men and can never get in unless you want to rub thighs with them. One of the PTs with ginger hair was extremely rude and made snarky remarks about the type of workout I was doing from across the room to his client thinking we couldn’t hear him but we did. This same PT also had a loud disgusting conversation with members of his class about “golden showers” in the middle of the cardio room - unprofessional and not the time or place for it. Overall doesn’t feel like a very welcoming or clean gym and equipment is often out of order. Spend your money at a better gym.

I only use the pool and jacuzzi. It's definitely the best in Bury. Staff are great.

Been a member of many different types of gyms in the past but I find that the village gym and swimming pool are a excellent facility. Staff are very helpful and easy to approach, and they also give you space and not pushing a service like personal training etc, well informed staff in all areas of fitness and the equipment is up to date and a wide variety of classes. Great coffee shop once finish work out or relax in the bar.

Reasonable hotel, but lacks some basic things. The 2 most obvious: no curtains, only blinds with gaps round the side, let's in plenty of light, and also the sounds proofing is rubbish, you can hear below, above and both sides.

  • 1/5 Paul W. 1 year ago on Google
Overpriced and not worth the money. On 3 occasions the jacuzzi has been out of order. Dirty male changing rooms. Used towel bin overflowing. Smelly toilets. Mould around showers. Shower gel dispensers broken or not filled up. You hsve to pay for towel usage.
