My toddler loves this place. There’s a great area for kids 4 and up. The staff is really friendly and helpful. There’s a dedicated kids climbing area with a kids speed wall and integrated timer. There’s plenty of V0 boulder problems that are owed for beginner kids. They have kid’s climbing shoes and harnesses too.

This Rock climbing gym was beautiful and clean as soon as I walked in. Front staff was friendly and efficient if you decide to come here have your waivers completed prior makes things easier. Got a tour of the facility prior to started and had to test out prior to going to the top rope area. Highly recommend anyone who wants to drop in from out of town this is the place to go to.

Having climbed in gyms all over the country including all of the Rochester area facilities, the Central Rock Gym chain is among the top places to visit nationwide for those looking for indoor rock climbing, fitness, and yoga. Staff are super friendly and professional and highly skilled route setting occurs daily on modern bouldering and roped areas with the best climbing holds in the industry. The dedicated kids section is great for little ones just starting out. Use of the full fitness and yoga studios are included in your day pass. Whether you're brand new to the sport or a seasoned climber, Central Rock Gym Rochester offers something for everyone and should be the first and only place to visit when in the greater Rochester area.

I've been a member since 2019, and as much as I enjoy climbing here its ridiculous that the parking continues to be restricted at this location. The back lot has been closed forever without being filled in. Now there are issues with the "free parking" in the parking garage. The slick and greedy owners of that have been sending members invoices for $46 a month which is wrong. Now there is no parking outside of the facility on the road which should be a city road with a new announcement that "the property owners" will no longer allow parking. So you expect all of your members to come but not drive, or drive and risk getting charged money or be towed at their own expense. Why would we come then? Its going to send all of your business to rockventures especially since your membership prices keep going up. You also continue to open multiple gyms in multiple states at the same time so we know that you have the money to fix the back parking lot for us to park in. Its extremely greedy of you and inconsiderate to the people who pay to make your business capable of expanding in the first place. Have some respect back for the members that keep you up and running. This needs to be remedied asap.

This is our second time with our Girl Scout troop. We went back in 2019 and again today because the kids begged to come back. They LOVE it! They have so much fun! The staff is beyond excellent! They cheer the kids on, support them and give them ideas of where to put their feet when they get stuck. Planning the group visit is simple and easy! I can’t recommend coming here enough. I’m positive we’ll be back again soon!

I was assisted by Naty, she was very helpful and explained the instructions well. I used the courses with an auto-belay and enjoyed my time there. Only con is that it’s a bit pricey because it’s a day pass but a novice like myself can only stay entertained climbing for 2 hours.

Great climbing gym! The building was built for climbing, so lots of high top ropes and leads, plus some auto-belays. A moderately large bouldering area (the floor padding is a bit stiffer than I'd prefer, but fine for younger folk).

This is one of the best gyms I've gone to in the US. Part of a chain of top-of-the-line gyms based out of Boston, MA; CRG Rochester has a strong selection of rope and Boulder climbing. It also has a fitness, yoga, and kids area for all your fitness needs!

My wife and I took a 'belaying' class in preparation for a family outing. Jason taught the class. Very thorough and paced just right. Facility is excellent. I'd recommend this gym.

My wife and I climbed here from the day that it opened until we had to move away. It was heartbreaking for us to leave this gym behind. The community and the staff at CRG Rochester are incredible and welcoming, the climbing was both interesting and challenging, and the various events and extras (workout clinics, rope/bouldering leagues, competitions, adaptive climbing clinics) were always very fun and well worth the cost of membership. I would recommend this gym to anyone at any level of climbing proficiency.

I find this gym somewhat disappointing. The atmosphere is generic and the setting style is limited. A climb would often have essentially the same move repeated throughout, and the style felt far from that of outdoor climbing. It was also frustrating that the staff were loudly vacuuming while people were climbing, making it difficult to communicate between climber and belayer. The staff were friendly and the facility clean. I write this review mainly to encourage the gym to offer Rochester something better :)

A bit expensive for what it is (relatively small bouldering area) and no chalk available for rental. Boulders were fun.

It's a great place for a variety of climbing. They offer classes, a top rope class, a bouldering section, a lead climbing class, yoga, and they have a gym with free weights and barbells. The only thing I think they could benefit from is adding a slab to their bouldering area. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and so are the other climbers. The routes change often enough to keep things fresh, and stay long enough to get ample time on them. I go 3 or 4 days a week, and feel it's definitely worth the money.

+Great place to climb with wonderful classes and community. Staff and members are willing and enthusiastic to help. The classes are free if you are a member. -The lifting gym is secondary and because this place is so popular parking can be a struggle at busy times but there is a nearby parking garage that solves this issue (pretty sure they validate parking)

Been a member for a few months and really enjoying it! Something constructive and healthy and there a lots of fun events and new routes all the time. Wish they were a bit cheaper but it’s still well worth the price and there are assistance programs if that’s too steep

I'm a member here and I don't have one bad thing to say. Awesome staff. Clean place. The problems frequently change. There's a little shop there. Good variety of classes outside of climbing. Gym.

I’ve been a member for about a year and CRG is an excellent rock gym. Great sense of community, friendly people, helpful staff, creative route setting. Having access to free yoga classes as a member has helped me find that I really love yoga too!

CRG has an upbeat atmosphere and energy. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the community of climbers are welcoming and inclusive! This gym has a lot to offer- from rejuvenating yoga classes, an updated fitness room, and a range of climbing routes- it is the place to be!

Really disappointed in this gym. I visited here once while I was in the area. Place is clean and does have A/C, which is nice. My review is for the roped part of the gym (I do not boulder, per medical reasons). Now for everything else: they advertise auto-belays, but only had 2. Each had a very easy 5.8 and one harder route (one 10+ that felt like a 9 and one 11 that was just crimps). There is little creativity here with routes. It is either a ladder or just plain weird. The 11 I tried could have had potential, but all it was was 30'-some feet of small crimps. Purely an endurance climb. Not necessarily bad in and of itself, but when it's the ONLY challenging auto-belay, it's sad. They charge $25 for a day-pass, which is very steep imo. Perhaps if you boulder, this is a good gym. But the ropes are anything but inspiring. Go to RocVentures nearby if you want better routes for cheaper.

While visiting a friend up in the Rochester area, he brought me to this place to go bouldering. While he’s a regular, I had basically zero experience with it, but it ended up being so incredibly fun! This was a great place to get into it, and I’ve been looking forward to the next chance I’ll get to go. The staff were supportive and friendly, and the other members were all equally as outgoing, energetic, and encouraging. It seems like a really great community. The facility itself seems pretty great too. I have little frame of reference, but it seemed like there was plenty of space and the walls varied greatly to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. I would highly recommend this place to anybody interested in trying it out! Even if you can only do some of the lower difficulty walls haha— I’m right there with you!

Was a first time climber, so I was a little apprehensive. But the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable - I never felt unsafe, the faculties are awesome and super clean, and I ended up having an amazing (and exhausting) time!

There are a lot of positives here - the community, the technical setting, the friendly staff that you really get to know just by being around the gym. We all come for our own reasons, but I can’t think of many other places where you can get such a good combination of fitness, challenging problems, friendships, outdoor trip partners, and Salsa music on Saturdays. Thank you Jim, Pete, Anna, Sarah, Maksym, Jordan, Jason, and all the others who make CRG the place it is. Great place to visit if you’re new and looking for a workout, or in Rochester and looking for a new community

I joined this gym when I first moved to Rochester two years ago, and it's been one of my favorite parts of living here. The gym community is great, and the proximity to downtown is super convenient. As a new climber, the staff were super helpful in giving me tips, helping me get registered for an introductory belay course and eventually the lead certification class. Some of my closest friends in Rochester are people I met at the gym! Plus, if you sign up for a membership, you can go to any of the other CRGs for free, which is AWESOME. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that I wish there was more hold variety! But whether you are a brand new climber just looking to try the sport for the first time or an experienced climber looking for a solid gym, you will be able to have a good time here. Thank you CRG Rochester for introducing me to this incredible sport!

For the last 9 months we have had a family membership here. The overall organization, professionalism, and education at the gym has been fantastic. My wife and I have taken the lead class and it was really well-run and felt safe and fun. Our kids are all on the competition team and they love it as well. The route setting staff have fun and interesting boulder problems that change frequently. Overall, a very nice sense of community with wonderful people. We can't recommend this gym enough.

Amazing rock gym! If you want to boulder this is the place for you with 8 different walls of grades of all levels. Has quality top rope sets as well with more than 50 sends. The community here is also the most supportive crowd you'll meet regularly cheering eachother on. You can't beat it here :)

We had our son's 10th birthday party at Central Rock Gym. We had not been to the location before, but the price was very competitive so we decided to try it. I'm so glad chose to have it there! We have had many great birthdays around Rochester but this was the easiest to plan, the best communication, and the most pleasant experience we have had. Carlton and Olivia were his party's belayers and they went out of their way to learn the kids' names, be positive and encouraging, and create a safe atmosphere to learn how to climb. I appreciated how the gym and the party room both have excellent natural lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. There was plenty of parking and it was easy to locate. We will definitely return!
