It's a fantastic place to dine, primarily frequented by tourists. However, the food quality and prices are excellent. The restaurant is quite spacious and offers a lovely terrace. The pasta portions are generous; in fact, some patrons couldn't finish their plates. On hot days, I'd suggest dining indoors because, despite the umbrellas, it can get very hot outside. It's a bustling spot, so expect a queue. Please click the “like” button if you find this review helpful.

Five stars for the superb service. Four stars for the food. It was very busy place and most of the customers are tourists I found. Not many options for seafood pasta. The noodles are rarely tasted, so my friend and I were not really a fan of it. We had a mussels pasta, but lack of seafood taste. However we were impressed by the waiters, they have passionate about their work!

Surprisingly, the best thing we ate were the potatoes. They were very savory. The next best were the mussels. There was a generous portion, and the flavor was decent. The artichokes were impossible to chew through and very salty. The meatballs were okay. Service was okay, had to ask a few times for water, which ended up coming after the food. Staff hygiene could be better.

Pasta is thoroughly enjoyable. One of the best I've had in Rome. Pasta portion is huge, served in a pan. Good thing we shared a pasta & a starter. We thought it was gonna be a long queue from the reviews and from what a local friend told us. Instead we didn't have to queue at all. The space inside is huge: not sure if they expanded to fit more people

The food was delicious but the restaurant was pretty busy. We had to wait 20-30 minutes because we had to be a full party (all 5 persons) to go to the table (so we had to wait for 2 of our friends to come before being seated). In the evening it is probably even more crowded. I suggest getting there early or go at lunch time. The service was quick and three waiters were amiable.

Food: there’s a lot of delicious food around Rome, and this is one of them. The Bufala cheese in the appetizers was a standout. I think you can find better pastas around but the pizzas were the star dishes. The artichoke starter was also a welcomed dish as well. It makes the wait for a table worthwhile (20-30 min). Service: the place is standout when it comes to its servers. They’re all super friendly and fun. You can also expect your food to land on your table very quickly after the long wait. Ambiance: the street is beautiful and the restaurant is incredibly big and spacious seating a lot of people. Keep in mind though that there’s a huge difference in the environment depending on if you sit inside or outside (depends on what you’re looking for). Pro Tip: Account for waiting time, sit outside if the weather is nice and skip the pasta.

We are visiting Rome for only 2 days, and everyone recommends trying food in this area. We chose this place based on Google reviews and we are not disappointed. First off, we were lucky somehow that we got there at the right time (not sure when the right time is, we got there at 6:15pm on a Monday) and didn’t have to wait in line. When we left, there were 2 huge lines, each is a block long, waiting to be seated. We sat outdoors, watching people walking by is interesting. Second, our waitress was very friendly and attentive; she looked out for our best interest. She stopped my partner from ordering too much (since he likes to try different things). Next, the food was good. We ordered caprese salad, mussels, pasta with meatball, roasted lamb with potatoes. There were no surprises from the first 3 dishes but I gotta say we had had better. The last dish - roasted lamb is questionable. The meat is a bit dry, tasted a bit too salty, and there’s still a strong smell, we didn’t like it much. Overall it was a good experience. We haven’t tried other places in this area to compare, so we’re not sure if waiting in line for an hour or even more is worth it. We just didn’t have to wait, that’s all.

This place is legit. We got there at 11:30 and thank goodness, there was a wait if you didn’t get there right when it opens. Giulio was our waiter and he was great! He gave perfect service and the whole staff pitched in and seemed to care about us too. The food was excellent. Also the cappuccino was Beautiful! Thank you Giulio and friends for a great experience!

Ok we came here because of social media.... we enjoyed the food and sitting outside. Their pastas are delicious and you can share the portions. Honestly it's comparable to many other restaurants that have similar menu items. We had a great experience so I'm happy we made the walk over.

This place is worth all the buzz! We had delicious food, impeccable service, it's fast, it's clean, it's priced so fair...but most important, it's really good food. We tried pensa, pasta, and meatballs. Everything was delicious and big portions. Almost too big. The service was so friendly and they are comfortable speaking English.

I came twice to Tonnarello during my stay in Rome and I absolutely loved it. Local home made Italian food at a very reasonable price. The menu is quite varied with antipasti, pasta, pizzas and meat. If you don’t manage to book a table in advance you can just turn up and queue, don’t be afraid as the waiting time is normally around 20-30 min and it’s worth it! Rosy was extremely kind and helpful. I will definitely be back soon!

This restaurant is a must if in Rome! The meatballs with cheese and pepper is a marvelous creation of taste! The price for what you get is amazing! The vibe, the atmosphere the service! You just cannot complain about a single bit! A very busy place, we did wait for 15/20 to get seated and that’s on the lower end of the average wait! Nonetheless, worth every minute! Strongly recommended!

Hyped as one of the best restaurants in Rome, and rightly so! they have a massive seating area (indoors and outdoors), yet there’s a huge waiting time during peak hours. Tip to beat the queue - get there around 6pm and grab a bottle of wine and starters, before you dive into the unmissable pastas and meatballs for dinner. You’ll watch the queue pile up around 6.45pm

This is probably the most popular restaurant in the area, as evidenced by the crowds inside and those waiting for a table during lunchtime. Plenty of tables, yet surprisingly short wait times for meals, with reasonable prices. Not all dishes suited our taste, but there's a wide selection for everyone to judge for themselves. Generous portions.

You must go here! What a fantastic place to eat! Came across when exploring in Rome and have been twice since. It's very affordable and in a great location. Incredible food - best I've had in Italy so far and really recommend for those who are vegetarian as they have some great dishes to pick from. Very accommodating and friendly staff. I went as a solo traveller the first time and they made me feel very welcome and checked in on me regularly. Went again last night and it was much busier than before but the queue was well managed and we were served quickly. For best experience I recommend going earlier in the day!

What an absolutely amazing restaurant tucked into a busy area of Rome. The line seemed pretty long, but moved very quickly and we had the option to dine inside, but preferred the beautiful ambiance of the outdoor dining. The food was perfect and the tiramisu was just awesome!

Excellent food, not THE best but 5 stars. Service is good despite the super busy atmosphere. Get reservations but is worth the wait (there is a line). I sat inside to skip ahead in line. The atmosphere is kind of anxious and very busy. Prices are higher, but BIG portions, definitely made for sharing. Jacobo did a good job. All tourists, no locals This place had a 4.7 rating, they gave me a card to write a Google review as soon as I finished. Like I said, 5 stars, but I think the 4.7 rating might be inflated (.2 points maybe) by this practice of sending the customer to Google. It is very good nonetheless.

A MUST VISIT IN ROME! This place has very good authentic Italian dishes without scamming tourists. Food is excellent. Expect to wait in line from 30-60 minutes. Servers are very helpful and aware of allergens and food restrictions. Great variety of options in the menu to choose from. The vibe and the views are awesome too

The service is superb with very friendly and attentive servers. The outdoor ambience is amazing, nestled in the middle of a traditional Italian enclave, the food is equally good and our favourite fried seafood and pepper chicken. The pasta is handmade and texture differs from most restaurants. Give it a go and have your meal at the outdoor siting if it’s not too cold.

Posto bellissimo, camerieri educati, piatti abbondanti e spettacolari. Ci ha servito Mirko, un cameriere fantastico, uno dei migliori in cui mi sono imbattuto, auguro a tutti di essere serviti da lui.

Tried this restaurant due to all the reviews. While food was good (not best around), it was nothing to right home about. Many individuals waiting in line for this restaurant. My option, not worth a wait. I am leaving a review because we were not overly impressed with the food despite all the high reviews.

The restaurant is situated in the beautiful quarter Trastevere. Unfortunately it gets really busy in the evening so I’d recommend to arrive early to avoid long waiting times. The outside area is lovely with a nice square that lets you enjoy the Italian flair and invites you to just enjoy the moment and watch all the different people walking past you. The service was fast and attentive. Ive had a vegetarian pizza, the size was perfect and my friend tried the pasta which was also very tasty. Would recommend this place to anyone.

I understand the hype, this is the best restaurant we’ve been in Italy. There’s always a big line up, but it goes relatively fast and it’s worth the wait. The food is amazing and the service is also the best we found in Italy. I had the lasagna and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs and he really liked as well. We absolutely recommend it.

This place is always packed. Good food, decent price, outstanding service. Don't be afraid of the line, it moves fast, once you are seated they don't rush you. The service is great. Calamari are served with lemon only, no sauce. Pasta was good but a little cold. Portion is huge. They where worried that I did not finished it. It's famous, it delivers.

The food was amazing and great! Authentic Italian food. We ordered various pasta - carbonara, pesto, and so much more. Alvin, our server was amazing, accommodating attentive, and the best! He made sure we are truly welcomed at the establishment. There was a bit of a wait in line because there is 7 of us. Pasta prices ranges from €10-20. Affordable! Highly recommended

15/10 High expectations as the reviews were good and were recommended by a waiter from another restaurant. Do note of the different queue for different numbers of diners. Can be quite confusing especially if you don’t speak Italian. Food was good but not as good as expected with all the reviews. Had better ones nearby. We were all disappointed. Waiter was about arrogant/ forceful on what we should order.

Very tasty food and a brilliant ambiance for an evening meal out. We really liked the staff serving - although they did make a mistake and try to provide the wrong dish - and the food was very tasty which we found great value for money. We - alongside every customer who was told - found it really strange they instead of waiting for a table at the front of the restaurant, the staff ask you to wait in a nearby ally as if you are about to jump on passing by travellers. Very strange and didn’t start the evening off on the best foot.

We have been going to Tonnarello for a while now and it never disappoints! they carry fresh ingredients, the food is excellent -the right amount of everything- good selection of wines, friendly prices and very amicable staff. Sometimes the wait might be a little long but we never had issues getting a table.

Food is absolutely wonderful, but its not as good as the service here. We had great hosts here and we felt that we are being well taken care of. My personal advice is to ask for Bryan and Roland, as beside their professional attitude, they showed a very friendly and fun side of their job, as well as there great command of the English language. Definitely coming back again here.

We haven’t made a reservation, yet still got a place to est inside for two people, although it was already 6:30 pm. The service was super nice, as well as the food :)) We were especially surprised by the prices as they were lower than expected. In my opinion, this place is definitely worth it if you want to try the traditional Tonnarello Spaghetti.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Rome! There are 2 locations really close to each other but there is usually a wait (because it’s so good!). When entering, you have the option of outdoor or indoor seating. The hosts are prompt to ask for drinks and bring the menu. The menu has a variety of options that can cater to a variety of dietary restrictions. The food comes out fairly fast, fresh, and incredibly delicious! I eat here every time I visit Rome! I would highly recommend this place!

What I saw when I was in Rome is that this is the best restaurant in town. Decent prices, food out of this world. The staff is organized and punctual despite the incredible crowds where you have to wait in line. And don't give up if you see a long line. It all goes fast, and believe me, the wait is worth it.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tonnarello in Rome, and it was an absolute delight. The variety of pasta dishes we tried, including the pesto pasta, veggies pasta, and ham spaghetti, were all bursting with flavors and cooked to perfection. The pizzas, both the veggie and buffala options, were equally impressive with their thin and crispy crusts and mouthwatering toppings. To complement our meal, we enjoyed their house wine and beer, which added to the overall experience. Despite the queue and a wait of around 15-20 minutes, the service provided was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient, ensuring that we had a pleasant dining experience. The welcoming ambiance of the restaurant further added to the enjoyment of our meal. Considering the quality of the food, the reasonable prices made it a great value for money. Without a doubt, this pizza pasta place is one of the best restaurants in Rome, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable culinary experience.

The food & service were outstanding. The restaurant is tucked away in a cute little alley. My wife and I both had Carbonara which was excellent. The ham & mozzarella app. was delicious as well. My kids had pizza and spaghetti & meatballs which they loved. Our server (Vanessa) was super friendly and helped us with the menu. Overall a wonderful experience.

Food was definitely good, but not better than other places I've been to in Italy that were either less expensive or equal in price, but that had exceptional service and offered larger portions. The bathrooms were downright filthy. The value was nothing like ZaZa in Florence or other restaurants I've been to in Italy.

Arrived at 2:45pm, waited about 20 mins for a table due to a line. The food was decent, nothing extraordinary. Catered mostly to foreigners, so not my top pick. Prices were reasonable though, so no complaints there. Service was good, but the main dishes took a while after the starters. For an authentic local Italian experience, this place might not hit the mark.

Without a doubt the best pasta I had in Italy. The texture is absolutely perfect. The sauce was creamy enough and packed with flavour without being heavy. The pizza was solid but nothing special. I wouldn’t have the pizza next time but just try two different pasta dishes. It can be busy and the queue can be quite long. The only good thing is they have a separate queue for people in groups of 1 & 2 so if you do come at a busy time maybe don’t go as a large party.

Grazie Tonnarello e grazie Francesca!

Had a wonderful time. Amazing service by Ronaldo. He was super nice and quick in getting our orders. Best service so far in Rome. Best food with best service. Highly recommending this place. Happy to wait for getting a table at this place.

Service beyond excellent and the food is one of the best in Rome. They serve the pasta in pretty big pans with big portions. Giusy and Sam were our servers they were awesome. They made sure that we had the best food experience ever :) Note: the lamb and artichoke plates are very tasty and delicious 😉

This place is incredible. Our waiter, Ronaldo, was attentive and helpful with ordering and helped make our date night extra special. The food was outstanding and the ambience was impeccable. Can’t recommend this place enough for a special night out

The food here is absolutely incredible! The waiters were super friendly and quick to accommodate us when we asked to switch to a table outside. All of our meals were so delicious and reasonably priced. We ordered the salmon (one of the best dishes we’ve had in Rome), the lamb with roasted potatoes, and pesto rigatoni. Our other side order of calamari was crispy and quite tasty. Don’t skip this place!!!

I have not eaten better pasta in my life. No exaggeration. We were told to wait in the huge queue and it was exactly 25min as promised. Worth the wait! And thanks to our charming waiter Brian for making our evening even better.

Good experience, the food was pretty good, the staff nice and prices correct. The place was very crowded compared to other restaurants. I think it's a good and safe place to go if you are looking for simple good italian food.

Amazing cuisine and charming ambience in the middle of Trastevere. Whatever choice you make you won't regret it. The pasta is a next level experience.

Just ate here and it was wonderful. Salvo tried to understand our American English and helped us order! All was delicious and the meatballs reminded me of my Italian grandmas!

Such a nice and great restaurant. The prices are great and the food is even better. I can recommend the Tonnarello Pasta and the Pinse (Pizza). The dough is so thin, light and tasty just delicious. Our waitress Michelle was so friendly and courteous. All in all a great evening.

Really good restaurant with awesome food. The staff is excellent, specially Jose who was helping us tacking the right food decisions. I strongly recommend to have a tiramisu as dessert! Take your time to go there because probably there is going to be a 30/35 minutes queue.

It’s a best choice you can have if you’re looking for quality. We were so happy to choose Tonnarello, nice food and nice staff. The only issue was after returning the oxtail still cold. Love it 🤌🏼

Absolutely amazing experience. Sat on the street and had an amazing meal in Rome. Servers were friendly, funny, and helpful. Food was absolutely amazing. Cooked with pride and also served in interesting ways. Recommend the carbonara and the fried turkey. Also the calamari was perfect!

Best meal we had in Rome! Despite there being an incredibly long line, we were sat in less than 20 minutes. The food was to die for and service was quick and personable. Our server Gian exceeded our expectations and helped us with all our questions and requests. He was knowledgeable, quick and kind, (all the while braving the heat!!) and our experience was one to remember!

Came on our first day in Rome for dinner, and came back later to try more dishes from the menu! We were expecting to have to wait in the queue but we were lucky enough to catch no queue, even at peak hours. Fast service, delicious food and super nice staff. 1000000% recommended.

Amazing place! With good service! The waiter named Brian Reyes was the one who served our dinner. He was very responsive to the customer’s requests and attentive to the customer’s needs. He would provide it right away in just a matter of seconds! He was very friendly and talkative, making his customers feel good in the environment. Excellent job! I highly recommend!

The food was delicious! Bryan was super attentive, he was nice enough to add some variations to our dishes and took care of us the entire time! Would definitely recommend. We went there around 5.30 pm for a late lunch, and we didn’t have any wait time during the high peak season.

Their website says get there before 7 for dinner if you want to avoid longer lines and I got there just before 7 and it was true. Even so, it would have been worth the wait! Food was really good and the waiter was friendly and helpful. The seafood tonnarello was brilliant. A lot of people talk about the artichoke but I wouldn't get it unless you're sharing with 2-3 others because it was quite heavy.

Great food, really nice service and friendly staff. We had to wait to get a table but it only took us 5-10 minutes. Service by Michele was excellent. Very helpful and good banter. Definitely coming back. Thanks Michele!

While looking for a place to eat dinner a queue was discovered, and after curiosity set in I searched this restaurant on Google Maps with a decision made from seeing the extremely high rating and thousands of reviews. This restaurant is very busy yet the service and quality of the food doesn't suffer at all, the staff here are very friendly giving another reason to return even before trying the menu. When in Rome you will not just have some of the best Italian food ever eaten, however at Tonnarello you'll eat some of the finest Roman food the region delivers. The texture and taste of the pasta dishes are unreal and you gain a lesson in what great fresh pasta is about, with you feeling more than satisfied after each dish! 😋😋😋

Excellent pasta with huge portions. The queue is VERY long but they manage it well and we were seated within 20 mins. Our waiter Jasper was the best, you can tell he loved the job - such a busy restaurant but he always checked on us and helped adjust some menu items to make it suitable for dietary needs.

Food was very good, we ordered the 3 most famous options and white wine and everything was delicious. Really recommend the amatriciana. Service was also very nice, Roberto was kind and gave us good recommendations. Line was long and took some time to enter even with free tables since inside is very spacious. Only one toilet working at the time was a negative point since it was busy.

Super friendly staff and we also like the pasta. We tried pesto and carbonara. We really like them. But our favorite is fried calamari. It is really delicious. We really enjoyed. Tiramisu is also nice but it is a little expensive. It is a must try restaurant if you visit Rome. I can highly recommend 😍

I understand the hype and see why this place has so many reviews. It’s located in a neighborhood called Trastevere which is away from the main touristy area. The restaurant dinning outside is located in a very scenic and charming area. Highly recommend dinning outside to feel the ambiance of Roma. There is a wait and they do not take reservations. The line goes pretty quickly as there are a lot of tables. The staff is friendly and very efficient working as a team. The food was good but not spectacular. Overall a wonderful experience and would recommend dinning here.

A very popular place, the food quality and price balance are excellent. We had pasta and beef meatballs with cheese. We were happy with both portions, but I liked the meatballs more. I would definitely visit this place again.

The restaurant is the same amazing quality as it was 6 years ago, when I first diacovered it. The food is extraordinary, the service is outstanding. Don't get discouraged by the queue, it moves super fast. I fully recommend it, one of the best restaurants in Rome.

This place is definitely a vibe. We arrived for the opening of the day (around 12) which was a good idea as just 1 hour later the restaurant was completely filled and a line began to form. Highly recommend the lasagna - one of the best I’ve ever had. This place definitely lives up to the hype. Docked just 1 star for service as our waitress was a little pushy and attitude seemed less than welcoming. Very reasonably priced too so good value for money and located in a nice part of town you can explore after eating.
