The best dining experience we had in Rome! The restaurant is a cute, quiet, and small nook that serves new dishes daily. Although the menu changes, there is a great selection of traditional dishes and lots of great vegetarian options. We ordered one of the 4 lasagnas of the day, zucchini Lasagna, spicy arribata pasta, meatballs in tomato sauce, a side of lemon peppers, and a half liter of the house red wine. Everything was delicious. The peppers were the best we'd ever had. Everything was very generously priced for the quality and portion size. Service was incredible. Highly recommend this amazing dining experience.

Bitterly disappointed. After all the 5 star reviews and local bloggers telling us this was the epitome of cucina Romana that nonna used to make, we found ourselves eating dry risotto and overly seasoned zucchini. It’s a small dining room so don’t be surprised if you’re sharing a table. Not an issue. No menus. What you see on a blackboard is what you get. English translation available. Tick. Service was efficient. More in the hope you’d eat and get out rather than any genuine attempt at a warm welcome. So to the food. Bizarrely they bring out the primi and secondi piatti out together. Again a sign of their conveyor belt approach. Mine was the amatriciana. Perfectly al dente rigatoni in a spicy tomato sauce. It was good but something I could make at home. The roast veal looked and tasted like school dinners. If you’ve been to school in the UK you’ll know what I’m talking about. And the gravy was so over seasoned. As was the sautéed zucchini side. How on earth can you get fried zucchini wrong??? Worse was to come. Mushroom risotto. Drier than the Atacama desert. I actually had to look up on google as to whether Romans served their risotto dry. I was flabbergasted. The food was a fiasco. Yes it’s cheap. But I’d have happily paid double to get some decent grub. Perhaps the kitchen had an off night? On passing the kitchen to the loo there was certainly no sign of a nonna busily spreading her magic culinary dust over what was being sent out. Just two blokes dishing up presumably overly seasoned food.

Small and cozy restaurant with great food. Menu is very interesting and it's difficult to find them in northern Italy. The artichokes here were the best ones among different places in my Roma trip, strong artichoke flavour blended very well with olive oil. Other food we tried, like pasta, meat, and sausage, was really delicious and special. We will definitely come back here on our next Roma trip.😋😋😋

Amazing food. The stuffed beef rolls, roast veal and classic lasagna were the highlights of the meal. The place is small and does not take reservations so you will need to wait to get in but is worth it. It can accommodate larger groups up to 8 but you should arrive 30 min before opening to queue.

Underrated restaurant in Rome, recommended by our walking tour guide Kopal from Carpe Diem Tours. Great food with exceptional vegetarian options, which the price was worth while. Also really good and relatively cheap wine. The service was also very attentive.

very authentic and food is amazing! must visit while in rome. the place is small and cozy and you might have to share the table

This place is really popular! You have too book a table a few days in advance. Took us 3 days before we got a table. Was it worth it?…yes. The fettuccine is silky smooth and the sauce tasted of cheese and cream…the artichoke was great too. It’s a beautiful restaurant and little bit more on the fancy side. Definitely recommend this when in Rome!

If 5+ stars were possible this place would get it! Out of the 6 different cities my boyfriend and I have traveled since arriving in Italy we are putting this in our top 3. I had a pesto lasagna and he had a spicy ragu pasta. It was PHENOMENAL. The man that served us was so so kind and made the experience even better.

June 2023 - This is a restaurant, not a hotel as marked by Google! What a wonderful place to eat, super friendly owner and staff! We just loved it. Great home style Italian food, small local restaurant, cozy atmosphere, amazing hospitality! Because my son had a different football team jersey on when we walked into the restaurant, the owner went and bought a Rome football jersey from next door shop for my son and had him put it on in the middle of the restaurant 😁😁 How funny and super nice of the owner! We love football (soccer in the US). Don’t forget to try the house red wine!

We were really disappointed by this place. We were baited by very positive reviews but in reality… meh… We had a cheese and pepper a classic from Rome which was so salty that I didn’t feel the taste of neither cheese nor pepper. After that meal my mouth was swollen and sore from salt. The lasagna ragu was ok, but salty as well. In my opinion this place is not worth the wait in line

Every aspect of the restaurant deserves five stars! Service ✅ Food ✅ Free Water 🙏🏽😳 except for the bathroom 😂 cause doors broken and there’s only one! 💀 but nonetheless this is the first and only European/Italian/Roman food I absolutely loved and finished completely! Would definitely come back here for lunch if I’m ever back in Rome- words of a 22 year old from Dallas, TX visiting Rome! Loved the meatballs and eggplant parmigiana! :))

This is one of the places that you are going to feel like a local having a really great meal. No tourist trap. Awesome place with tables inside and outside. The manager is very friendly and kind. They have a house wine which is really good. The menu is in a board and you have to choose from there. The meal is just great, one of the best I had in Rome. The place is close to the Vatican, so if you are around, you have to stop by!

The food was delicious! My family and I would def come back! So very good, I loved it! I enjoyed the service and the food, the staff were very nice. One of the best restaurants I've been to in Rome so far.

Perfect place for an amazing Amatriciana. The local is little but feels familial, it’s perfect for small group but there is no reservation so expect to wait 40 minutes outside. There is free water (first time I saw that in Italy) and the personal is very friendly. Just be sure to leave your space for other when you have finished, they wait outside just like you were. Can’t wait to return there

Yes! Yes! Yes! I’m glad our family was able to try this place while visiting Rome! It’s not too far from our hotel so we were able to get a table quickly. Small restaurant with big flavours! I had the ox tail stew, which I will admit I was licking my fingers it was so good! Our table also enjoyed the saltimbuca alla romana, amatriciana, cacio e pepe, eggplant in vinegar, chicory and the special of the day Ravioli ricotta e spinach con burro e salvia! So good!

Really friendly owners, excellent food. Great house wine. Cute terrace in a cute alley. This is the kind of place you should go to and eat in when you visit Rome!

Food was amazing, we had the Ragu and Oxtail pasta. Everything was just superb. The waiter was also a jolly fellow. The house wine was amazingly good as well. Great atmosphere. Very few tables so go in early. Overall a solid institution in Rome. This is a restaurant Idk why google classifies it As a hotel.

This restaurant is amazing. Great atmosphere, the old fashion vibe. The owner is very nice and has time to talk to everyone. The food is fantastic. We had dinner there twice during our short stay in Rome. In the end, I can say that oxtail stew was one of the best meals i had in my life.

Our best meal in Rome. Such a cute, small place with such charm. The food was all exceptional but would particularly recommend the chicken main and the parmigiana. Would love to return and recommend that everyone visit!

This is a hidden gem, two days later and I’m still speechless about the meal. It was absolutely incredible, I can still taste the incredible roast veal and roast potatoes. And the wine: incredible. I’d walk back to Rome, just for another meal at this place.

We went here twice during our Rome trip. Both times were great. While we are obviously tourists, this felt like an authentic, family owned Rome restaurant. The servers were kind and had great recommendations in English. Food was fantastic. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the location.

Came because it was highly recommended. It was good but nothing blew us away being Italian pasta. Rome has good food but it’s not like the rest of Italy. It was nice sitting outside and service was good.

The place gets busy quickly and we didn’t have a reservation but we were able to get a table quickly. They serve locally inspired dishes. We tried a couple of them and all were amazing. The waiters were super friendly and attentive. I recommend to try the Lasagna alla gricia.

Best restaurant so far during my travel in Rome. Food was out of this world and service was great. The owner (the fourth generation of this restaurant) was super friendly and speaks good English. I queued up before 7pm to secure a spot and it was proven a good idea. The restaurant was filled within 10 minutes. I had stuffed chicken (stuffed with bread, mushroom and cheese) and a veggie dish as a side. Had 1/4 house wine. Delicious! All was 21 euros. I really enjoyed my dining there and highly recommend it to anyone. Bonus: this restaurant is 5 minutes away from Castles of Angels, so please don’t forget to check out the place before/after your meal.

How I miss this restaurant… the best pasta I had in Roma. We were there for diner and we came back in the next day for lunch as well. Really really good!! I loved the pasta amatriciana and the meat balls, and my wife choose for both times the classic lasagna. Hope we can back one day. It was so good that I forgot to take any pictures but I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

absolutely lovely!! highlight of our stay most definitely. it's a small, very welcoming and comfortable restaurant I had what was probably the best stew I've ever had. Something I can only describe as made at home. my companion loved the artichoke lasagna. which seemed to be made of fresh artichokes! this restaurant serves vegetarian dishes as well as an arabiata that has neither meat nor cheese, if you have dietary restrictions the owner will help you choose! the housemade wine was fantastic, really wish we wouldve had the time to share a bottle. the prices surprised me as well as food this good should've costed us but it was a pleasant surprise to find it's very gentle on the wallet and thus even more a good spot for visitors. if I had a say in it we would eat here every day of our stay quite honestly

Delicious! Had lasagna artichoke, cod fish and artichoke all one of the best we ate in Rome! Pleasent atmosphere, a very small place Must go :)

It’s difficult to pick places to eat when in Rome as there are many many options, but going here was our best choice. Amazingly high-quality and really authentic food and house wine, with an excellent service! Also the vibe is super cozy and old-fashion, really stylish! We loved everything about this place. Highly recommended!

It was OK. For 25 Euro, 2 servings of Lasagna and tomato pasta. Couldn't find any meat in non veg pasta. White wine for 5$was ok. Nothing exceptional about it though reviews online were so great. Not sure why but may coz they found it cheaper. I believe for 25 Euro, you may find 2 dishes anywhere. May be need to pay 5 usd more for wine, but that's ok. Average overall. Nothing fancy if you like meat. For vegetarian, it might be a good option.

Highly recommend the oxtail stew. There was a wide variety of pastas. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Recommend 100%! Very popular place we should to wait about 30-40 min to enter but it is worth it for sure. Authentic Italian food with nice atmosphere as you visit some of your relatives. Would be lovely if they have some drinks aside of vine and cola, but it’s fine.

Little cosy local Italian restaurant. Amazing home cooked style. We tried the oxtail stew and the saltimbocca which were prefect. Pasta is great too.

Wow truly delicious! Best pasta we have ever had and the homemade pasta is perfect! The dinning area is small, but so worth the wait if you have to! Highly recommend stopping by!

  • 5/5 Stefania s. 10 months ago on Google
Take the pic of the menu while you wait so you have your items picked and ready to order. There are no reservations . The food is delish. The beer cold, the wine - house and service is quick, amazing flavors and true to Italian flair. A tiny hole in the wall, well worth the wait.

  • 5/5 Tim H. 2 years ago on Google
Great food. No nonsense. Good chill atmosphere. We got the tripe, lasagna, oxtail, artichoke and some wine. Wine is just ok, but it's cheap.

Hidden restaurant but the frame is fantastic. It looks like when your grand mother is cooking. The boss is really kind with the customers and the food is tasty ++ ! Be careful there isn’t no menu and the prices are not mentioned.

By far my favorite restaurant in Rome!!! I first visit this restaurant in 2014 and on Dec 2021 I visited again, I was so happy to see that the place stayed exectly the same. Anything I'll say about this place is just not enough, so don't think about it, just go, you won't regret it.

  • 5/5 Tim A. 1 year ago on Google
The man running this place is awesome; helpful and efficient. I have seen comments he can be grumpy, but I found quite the opposite; as sole waiter/barman/runner, he has no spare time for your small talk! Fantastic food, but a limited wine offering. Would be back here in a heartbeat.

  • 4/5 Paul G. 1 year ago on Google
Wonderful find of a traditional family run osteria. Blackboard menu, items blocked by price- very reasonable. Food and wine really great. On my scoring scale, above expectation and will seek to go again. My satimboca was tenser tasty and well seasoned. The stuffed zucchini’s were also flavourful with a great tomato sauce.

Local cuisine, best to order a couple of things and share, the portions are aren’t very big. Nice outdoor space to sit and slightly calmer atmosphere compared to a few streets down the road. Menu changes based on availability.

If you want a classic Italian experience, it’s here. Six tables in a tiny room but the food is delicious! I had the pasta bolognese and practically licked the plate
