I would not recommend staying at this hotel unless you are okay with unaccommodating and rude service from the staff here. The location is in a good spot with great views and that’s about all this hotel has going for it. We arrived here at the end of our ten day trip to Italy and we were exhausted and sunburnt. My partner was suffering from sun poisoning from a beach day one day prior and was feeling too poor to go out to dinner. I asked if we could order food from the hotel restaurant to our room and was told no. I then proceeded to pick up take out from a local pizzeria so me and my partner could eat something while he was resting in bed from the sun poisoning. As I walked in the lobby I was told I was not allowed to bring any outside food to our room and had to eat in the lobby. My boyfriend did not eat dinner that night because of this and I had to throw out half the food I purchased for him for dinner. Finally, we asked for late check out the next morning and we’re told no without them even checking. I’ve never once stayed at a hotel in my entire life that doesn’t allow food in the room and that also hasn’t even tried to accommodate a late check out, even by 30 minutes. Other than that the hotel was fine but the complete lack of customer service and willingness to help us as paying customers at all left a terrible taste in our mouths. I would not recommend staying here. You are better off with a hotel that values you as a customer.

We loved staying at the Mecenate Palace Hotel in Rome, I can share a delightful experience that truly captures the essence of this charming establishment. Nestled in the heart of Rome, the hotel's location is its first great asset. It's wonderfully convenient for exploring the city, especially with the Colosseum and Roman Forum just a short walk away. The proximity to Termini Station made our travels within Rome effortless. The hotel itself exudes a classical old-world charm that's quite enchanting. The room we stayed in had a traditional decor, which added a touch of Roman authenticity to our stay. Modern amenities like a flat-screen TV and minibar provided the contemporary comforts we needed. The highlight, however, was the rooftop garden restaurant. The views from here are spectacular, offering a panoramic vista of Rome's skyline – a perfect backdrop for evening relaxation. The service at Mecenate Palace was commendable. The staff were attentive and helpful, ensuring our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The complimentary breakfast buffet was a delight, with a variety of choices including delicious espresso and cappuccino, starting each day on a high note. In summary, the Mecenate Palace Hotel struck a fine balance between classic elegance and modern convenience. It's warm ambiance, coupled with the exceptional service and stunning views, made our stay in Rome truly memorable. For anyone looking for a centrally located hotel that captures the historic charm of Rome, Mecenate Palace is undoubtedly a great choice.

Beautiful hotel. Old fashioned but nice rooms; get one with a view of the square. Air con was a bit crazy. Food fine and views from terrace bar are great, especially at night. Breakfast is sometimes chaotic but it's ok. Location is perfect.

We stayed at this hotel as a family of three with a 10yr old son in Oct 2023. I was looking for an easy, safe and nice-looking hotel close to the main station. It was a short walk from Rome Termini to the hotel (you have to navigate the usual obstacles you find around all large capital city stations, but that’s fine if you use common sense). The building is nice from the outside and there are plenty of good coffee shops and restaurants nearby. There is also a small supermarket just across the road down some steps if you want to buy drinks and snacks. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. The room was nice with a double bed and single bed. Breakfast was a daily delight - a good continental buffet with proper coffee on the rooftop. We didn’t eat dinner here so I can’t comment on that. You could see the top of the Colosseum from the roof and a great view of the basilica opposite. We walked between the Roman Forum and the Colosseum from the hotel and we often took the metro from Rome Termini. I would stay here again.

Highly recommend staying here, lovely hotel, would stay here again. Double room with a fabulous view. Whilst in a busy spot of Rome, the room was very quiet as had good glazed windows. Aircon was welcomed as 30 degrees the week we stayed. Very clean and comfortable room with fridge and minibar. Restaurant for breakfast is a lovey rooftop area, breakfast was faultless with choices of hot cooked scrambled egg, bacon and sausages, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurts, cheeses and cooked meats, not forgetting an array of lovely sweeter pastries, and staff were very accommodating. Plenty good local restaurants in the area, metro very good too. Good location for all tourist attractions.

I had the WORST experience with this hotel. I am TRAUMATIZED. My therapist recommended me to go on a holiday and now I need to book an appointment ASPA when I get back home. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND. I am a woman, travelling SOLO. A male employee(didn't know at the time) broke in my door and saw me NAKED in the shower. we locked eyes and I yelled, then he left. Few minute later reception called, saying they heard loud shower sound. Then just hang up on me while I was still talking and trying understand their behaviour. No apology, No explanation were provided. They claimed to be a four star hotel and I don't understand this kind of service match up with it.

Loved my stay at the Mecenate Palace. The staff were very attentive and the room was clean and quiet, despite being in a busy street. The location was excellent as well, very close to the train station and walking distance to the Roman forum. The breakfast was really good and the view from the rooftop terrace spectacular. Will definitely come back to the Mecenate Palace next time I am in Rome.

The front desk was very short and not welcoming. We stayed at several hotels during our trip in Italy and this was the only hotel we were somewhat disappointed in. The rooms are old and very outdated. Our room was by the elevator and very loud. People should expect something closer to a two or three star hotel.

Stayed here in December 2023. the location is great if you want to be close to the central station and some restaurants and sights like the colosseum, but was unable to get a peaceful night’s rest due to hearing other guests. don’t think it’s worth the cost (paid $175/night for a superior room- which is not the room type that faces the outside, just the „courtyard“ and unsure what was superior about it. Breakfast was not included) it did not feel like a 4star hotel. The vents are connected so one night we got little sleep due to crying baby in room that was above or next to us and other night another loud family with kids. Bed was uncomfortable and seemed like an old mattress same as the pillows. Super warm in room and no way to stop the heater. We left the window open but then had smoky smell in room due to air pollution which seemed most noticeable at night 3AM or so.

They don’t allow you to bring food into your room. We were here on holiday for 5 days and we’re told we can only eat food outside. This isn’t mentioned before booking or even after booking. It’s on a piece of paper off to the side of the check in desk. I would have booked someplace else. If I was here for a night no big deal. But 5 days makes this an inconvenient policy. The guy at the desk , Pietro or something, could care less and I don’t blame him, this is his life I’d probably be defeated as well. The view from our room is amazing. Probably the best I’ll ever have in my life from an hotel room. Apparently the do not disturb light is optional as housekeeping kept buzzing and knocking at out door one day we stayed in to rest. And to top it all off city tax went from 6 to 7.5 back in October. But did the send out an email informing its guests who booked before and let them know? Of course not. The email I got when booking said 6 per person per night. So that was a nice surprise at check out. One final screw you from them. The restaurant is over priced. My wife liked the food despite that. We couldn’t go onto the terrace because it was closed although we saw another large party go out there. I ordered the spinach ravioli from their menu and was told afterwards that there was a change and it’s now some kind of pesto ravioli. Which was only 3 pieces about the size of a credit card and as thick as 2 stacked on top of each other. Needless to say we went somewhere nearby for a proper meal later that night. Also, it was a depressing atmosphere. There was only one other table of two when we got there. It was creepy quiet. We were in and out back to our room in an hour. Waste of 65$.

Review of Rooftop Drinks: My experience at the rooftop was nothing short of a nightmare. The wait time for drinks was excruciatingly long, as if I had entered a time warp where service was a thing of the past. After placing my order, it felt like eons passed before my drink even materialized. The quality of the beverages was abysmal, reminiscent of something dredged up from the depths of a forgotten cellar. The staff appeared more interested in counting clouds than attending to the needs of patrons. It was a thoroughly disappointing ordeal, and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

Our second home in Rome. The location is perfect. The roof is fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food of breakfast or dinner are very delicious. We visited Rome 4 times and this is was always our hotel while there

The high google rating are well deserved. The hotel is an authentic reminder of a time when life happened at a slower pace. Everything in the hotel, from room design to to the heavily weighted room keys and roof top restaurant communicates a bygone level of luxury. All facilities are well kept up and cared for.

The location of the hotel is excellent, which is why I booked it in the first place. 500 m walk from Termini station, and 50 m walk from nearest metro. It is around 1 km from Colosseum. The area feels extremely safe and lively from tourist perspective. The receptionist was also nice and courteous. We had to go out of the main hotel gate and then enter through a door in what seemed like a building adjacent to the actual hotel. Honestly, I was a bit worried for a few minutes if they were going to send me to some BNB. But the room we got was great. It was air conditioned, with large bathrooms, all toiletries, bidet, bath tub, etc. We didn't eat the breakfast, so can't comment on it. But

Nice hotel, excellent breakfast on the rooftop with attentive wait staff. The view over the cathedral is amazing, and the windows seal out any street noise. Great location near Termini station. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Very old hotel with a bit of character. Spacious rooms but don’t expect any luxuries as you would find in a modern hotel, such as a basic iron. Clean levels: below average. Good lounge downstairs, decent internet and quiet.

My husband and I have stayed here twice. We love this hotel. The rooms are nice. There's a beautiful rooftop breakfast area with a view of the basilica di Santa Maria maggiore. It's also really close to the termini and you can also easily walk to the colosseum.

The hotel itself definitely has character. Some would say dated but I can definitely agree that there is character and is a step in time. There are no modern amenities in the room, like an iron/ironing board etc., The bathrooms are big and have character as well. The beds were rock hard. The location is good. You can walk within 30 minutes to many sites. Nonetheless, I was excited to leave. I booked this reservation on the whim because of its location and overall reviews. However, I made the grave mistake of not adding my infant (8 month old) to the itinerary, and received a cold shoulder from the staff when asking if they had a baby cot available. I was told that my room didn't allow for a baby cot as it's only for 2 people. The room was quite large (more than enough room for a baby cot) and much larger than Paris and any standard room I've stayed in Europe but I understand if that it there policy. Nonetheless, I apologize for booking on the whim and never asked for the cot again. The bell helped carry our bags to the room but when I turned to ask him a question about local restaurants, he acted as if he didn't speak English. That was fair but I gave him a tip anyways. Upon check out, he suddenly spoke English! :P My needs are very minimum most times. We often decline room service, keep our same towels and sheets during our stay, and minimize interactions with staff as we spend most of our time out on the town, which was the case here. I'd say go for it if you need a good location and clean space. I would warn that many of the front reception staff are not particularly warm but they do conduct business (call a taxi on your behalf, bring your bags to your room).

I am a traveler and I enjoy travelling. I have experience many hotels where ever I have been with the best services but Mecenate Palace Hotel is one of the best hotel I have ever been in my life time. From the service desk , service room, to the top of the terrace where we ate breakfast every mourning which was free, every one was so nice and very respectfull! I have so much good things to say about this hotel if I continue but if anyone travelling to Rome I sincerely recommend Macenate Palace Hotel for staying. I messed Rome, I missed this hotel and their services.

Great location near the Roma Centrale train station and metros to get you to the tourist areas. It is a bit outdated. If you want cool air, you need to ask for portable A/C units or fans. Oddly, you are not allowed to bring food or drink from outside the hotel to the room. If these aren't important to you, then it would be a great place to stay.

It’s a nice hotel with lots old Italian charm! Location is relatively central, close to the Rome Termini and 20 minute walk to the colosseum. Lots of restaurants around. Only complaint is that it was high 80’s during our stay in May and they don’t kick on the AC until June so it was very very warm in our room. Kept the window open at night but, it is a very loud area!

    - The staff are fantastic, so support and always smiling I feel home during my stay Location Close to termini and metro station and bus stops Breakfast is very good and restaurant staff are super The improvement areas: 1. The duvet cover was not there. The simply mad sandwich with two blankets makes it messy and uncomfortable 2. Almost the same breakfast menu, small changes will feel better 3. The shower keeps dropping water 4. Peagons at the restaurant are annoying The above all are minor staff, and the impact is very low. Just wanted the hotel to be better since I feel home at it

Reception staff are friendly and helpful. There are a few things about the hotel though; There was not any catalog available with reception or restaurant or other possible available services in the room, so when we wanted to order room service, I had to go down to reception and ask them their number and also restaurant number so we could call, and we gave up on room service because it wasn’t convenient to call the restaurant and ask for everything they could have!!! For a 4 star hotel, it was my first time facing this issue! Breakfast wasn’t the greatest meal of the day it felt like it, not many choices for either hot food or continental, and if you had a specific dietary, so it would go down to a few things only. The terrace top garden is amazing though and despite the cold weather and seagulls, we had our breakfast in the terrace! Fabulous 🌟 The bar, offers a variety of drinks, expensive a bit. Another Good thing about rooms is not hearing the noise from the outside as the windows are good when you shut them. We could hear the elevator noise first night of stay in a normal deluxe room, but upgraded to presidential suite on the private level, and very happy with it. Massive terrace and good size bed( as the other double wasn’t quite to our liking) Location is great and easy access to taxi and trains if you need it. Or you can easily walk to almost anywhere! A lovely cafe is just round the corner if you fancy coffee or nice food. Train station is 10 minutes away.

We stayed here around Christmas and it was great! Helpful staff, good breakfast buffet on a beautiful rooftop and an amazing location right outside Santa Maria Maggiore. Do not hesitate to book.

This place was fantastic. Marco and all of the staff went above and beyond to make sure our accommodations were comfortable. Very clean hotel, located in a nice area with lots to see and do within walking distance. We plan on using them again, and have already recommended to two other families that will be visiting this year.
