Stayed in this hotel for a couple of days. The location is great. We walked from the hotel to Spanish steps (leads to the top of the steps) and the trevi fountain, pantheon and piazza navona. The host is great and very supportive. The only downside is. The price is about 100 euros but the rooms was too cramped (we stayed in two different rooms). The shower area is also way too small. But I kind of expected it as I saw it in the pictures. Hence the 5 stars.

Underwhelming. Breakfast was outrageous price at 40 Euro for basically a roll and a croissant. (Go around the corner to the cafe next to the pizzeria on Via Veneto and get 2 coffees and 2 pastries for 6 Euro instead). Room wasn’t super clean. Staff not very friendly. Picture on the wall was terrible - of a cross-eyes guy lifting a dumbbell with a brain on it and two women with nip slips. Gross. I turned it around so I didn’t have to look at it and housekeeping put it back up. We were glad to leave. Ultimate thought: you can book a better hotel with friendly staff in a better location for the same price or less. Don’t book.

My wife and I (early 30’s) travlleded for a 3 day trip to Rome. Hotel Golden was exactly what we were looking for. Clean rooms, great service. Hosts spoke fluent English and even helped us print tickets to a museum.

The whole experience was lovely. We sprung for the airport pickup which was perfect, the driver was waiting for us as soon as we got off our flight. We rented the family apartment and the rooms were big and the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of space. The family that owns the hotel were kind and accommodating, always there to offer suggestions of restaurants, give directions or call us a taxi when needed. There were a few coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance as well as the beautiful grounds of the Villa Borghese (there is a great look out point with an amazing view of the city). I would say that the neighborhood is not much for lively nightlife, so if that is what you are looking for you would need a taxi to take you elsewhere.

Golden is a lovely family run hotel in an excellent high class neighborhood near Villa Borghese but the well-appointed rooms are very reasonably priced. Owner Giuseppe speaks perfect English and is a very friendly host giving us great recommendations for transportation options (Metro a few minutes away) and local restaurants that the tourist crowd does not know about. His mother and father are also present and the experience is all together wonderful. Very good security in the building is a plus. One of the nicest small hotels we have stayed at during our many years of travel in Italy. And Giuseppe is far and away the best host.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Golden from March 22nd until March 27th and we couldn't have been happier. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home by the wonderful Loria family. We stayed in one of the very small rooms and it was perfect for us. The high ceilings gave the room a spacious feeling and being able to open the windows and shutters gave us great light and air. The room had everything we needed to stay organized and the shower was fantastic. Mama Teresa's breakfast was delicious and served with warmth. Giuseppe's restaurant suggestions were spot on for us and his help with making train reservations was above and beyond anything we could reasonably expect. The location of the hotel is terrific, away from the tourist hub, just steps away from the lovely Villa Borghese, and yet close enough for us to walk everywhere. We would not hesitate to recommend Hotel Golden to anyone visiting Rome and we look forward to staying there again.

Beautiful clean hotel in a great location. The gentleman running the hotel is extremely helpful, thoughtful and very knowledgable. Will only stay here when coming to Rome. Price is also incredible for the quality and service you get. 5 stars!! Highly recommended

TRUELY family run little nice hotel. The room was nice and clean. We made a mistake with our reservation and the son was nice enough to correct it and change our room with a little extra charge (change of single room to double) which was very helpful. BUT from the moment we stepped in the hotel the nice behavior faded away and it seemed that they were angry at us the whole time, the whole family. Maybe we did something wrong but I did not feel welcomed here. We stayed for two nights but hardly were ever in the hotel so don’t know what we have done. I don’t think it was the norm as others in the reviews seems to be very happy. Please, the owner, if you are reading this tell me what was the issue hahaha

I decided on going to this hotel based on the reviews. And I’m so happy I trusted them. Our five days in Rome couldn’t have been better, and all thanks to Giuseppe and his tips for Rome during our stay 🙌 We ate wonderful food, gelato and saw a side of Rome I think you might miss out on if you just get around by yourself. And the locations is so perfect! We walked everywhere we went and nothing felt too far away. So kind and warming family. Great contact before arrival and during our stay we felt very well taken care of. We felt very safe and left our valuables without concern in our room. Come here if you’re going to visit Rome 🇮🇹 I know we are when we’re going back. This isn’t something I think you’ll find at the bigger hotels that are in Rome, Hotel Golden takes genuine care of their guests 😍

My second time here. It's a wonderful family oriented hotel. Has a beautiful entrance a d lovely elevator. The rooms are perfect. Both Maria Teresa and Giuseppe are wonderful. La Mama is still there. I saw Papa. He is still here looking out for us during his night turn. I love it. His smile brightens the night. It was great seeing them again, and celebrating my birthday here. I am so happy I came back, I felt at home and safe. I will keep coming back to stay here while I visit Rome.

Centrally located. Easy access to everything in Rome. The owner is there and available to answer your questions. Showed us where to eat and visit sites of Rome. It’s a hotel but like an AirBNB. Loved it and we’re going back for our last day in Italy.

The main reason why I decided to book with Hotel Golden while visiting Rome was that on previous reviews I read about the hotel, I saw that it is a family business. During this pandemic, one thing I tried to do was to support small and local businesses. I know they had a really rough time during this crisis, so I would rather stay in a small/local hotel than a big chain one where you are just one more guest on their list. What caught my attention on Hotel Golden were all the reviews which mentioned the hotel staff was very friendly and gave good tips on where to go to visit, eat and how to move around the city. Indeed, the tips were very good and helpful! We were impressed by how nice and welcoming the hotel owner was. I felt at home while we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are super clean, and we were lucky to stay right in front of the beautiful statue in the Roman wall. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to spend a good time while visiting Rome.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and large. The bathroom and shower were large (by European standards) and I really appreciated the little table, chair and other places to set things. There was a little fridge in the room. I shared a room with my sister so we requested twin beds. The beds in our room were pushed together - we were able to move them apart a little, though I wish they had been more separate. But it was a pretty room, with high ceilings. The windows were large and new, although like most European hotels there were no screens so leaving the windows open might let in mosquitos. I loved the neighborhood - close enough to the sites to walk most places, but a little off the main tourist path so it was quiet and more interesting. The Borghese Gardens are very close, which makes for a nice escape from the crowds/city. I would definitely stay here again.

Jephetto, the concierge was very nice and he was always ready to help us feel comfortable. He arranged our transportation to the airport, so no worries. Great Location. Plenty of restaurants and attractions near the hotel. I recommend Golden Hotel a 100%

I booked this hotel because of the many reviews praising the helpfulness of the family that runs it. Please know that is 100% true! It was like staying with a family host at the front desk… they helped us get around, suggested great places to eat, got us cabs and transportation to the port, etc. truly a wonderful experience. The hotel itself was exceptionally clean and the air conditioning was perfect (we can only sleep when it’s cold lol). The hotel was centrally located to all of the sites and the area was quiet and safe. 10/10 recommend staying here! I don’t know why this only has 2 stars in google it’s a 4 minimum!

Let me start by saying that we travel a lot and this is my first negative review. I relied on the reviews that were posted and they all gave good reviews. This is family owned hotel, two sibling did speak some English. The lady checking us in was rude, she was not friendly at all. When checking in I realized that this was not a typical hotel, it was more like a block of maybe 10 rooms. When we left to go grab dinner we had to give the front desk our key, that was really weird. When returning the two brothers were working the desk. One brother was nice and spoke English the other brother spoke no English and gave us an uneasy creepy stare. Honestly I do not think that the family likes Americans. The walls are very thin, when someone came in at 11 pm, I heard the entire conversation. The rooms were clean but very dated. One reason that we picked this hotel was it location, great location,,,,or so we thought! We parked on the street right outside of the hotel. When we woke up and went to the car in morning we were robed, someone put their fist throw the window and ransacked the car. Seriously pick another hotel to stay at!

We stayed here during our visit to Rome. This place is great. Service was amazing. It is a family run hotel and the whole family is so friendly and welcoming. It is centrally located to all the major locations you would want to visit in Rome. I would recommend this place and would stay here again

When you dream of a perfect Roman getaway, you envision an enchanting blend of ancient history, modern luxury, and impeccable service. Look no further than the Hotel Golden in Rome, because this remarkable gem exceeds every expectation you may have. From the moment we stepped into the grand lobby, and ascended the stairway to the entrance to the hotel itself, we were greeted with a warm and genuine welcome from the owner, Giuseppe. His passion for hospitality is palpable, and he goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is nothing short of exceptional. The level of professionalism, courtesy, and attention to detail displayed by every member of the Hotel Golden team is truly remarkable. His intimate and deep expertise of the surrounding restaurants and cultural landmarks is understandably, remarkable. He will point you in the right direction to meet your needs. The Hotel Golden's location is nothing short of a dream. Nestled in the heart of Rome, it offers easy access to the city's most iconic landmarks. The Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill are just a leisurely stroll away, while the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Piazza Navona are also within walking distance. You truly feel immersed in the city's history, and the proprietor's local expertise helps you make the most of your visit. Now, let's talk about the accommodations. The rooms at the Hotel Golden are an exquisite blend of classic Italian elegance and modern comfort. Our room was beautifully appointed, with tasteful decor, plush furnishings, and a heavenly bed that ensured a restful night's sleep. The attention to detail in the room's design was astounding, and the view from our room overlooking the historic streets of Rome with a view of an ancient sculpture of a renowned General of the Emperor Marcus Aureliuswas simply breathtaking. The multi-course breakfast served personally by Mama Teresa is a delightful start to the day, with a wide selection of delectable pastries, fruits, and egg dishes to choose from. Wait until you try Mama's freshly made espresso, capaccino, or Americano ... truly exquisite. Rest assured, Mama's dedication to providing an unforgettable breakfast experience is evident. In summary, the Hotel Golden in Rome is a testament to luxury, elegance, and exceptional service. It's a place where every detail is carefully considered to provide guests with an unforgettable experience. If you're looking for a truly extraordinary stay in the Eternal City, we wholeheartedly recommend the Hotel Golden. It's not just a hotel; it's a destination in itself. Our stay here was a golden memory that we will cherish forever, and we can't wait to return.

Can’t say enough our gratitude for their understanding and service when our family had an emergency back home. They graciously worked with us to cancel the reservation and we will absolutely be rescheduling when possible in the future.

We visited Italy (Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome) for 2 weeks in September 2023 with our daughter. We spent the most days of our trip in Rome and stayed at Hotel Golden during our 5 days there. Hotel Golden is a family-owned and run establishment, something we love and have a soft spot for. Giuseppe, Maria and their family were absolutely wonderful!! They were the most gracious hotel hosts we have met. They were all very personable, warm and friendly. It was such a pleasure to interact with them which made our trip to Rome a highlight for us. We felt so welcomed and at home. They took extra steps to accommodate us and our needs, from recommending us great places to eat within our budget, assisting us with getting taxi services to giving us advice on what price we should be paying so we don't get scammed by overpaying for rides. The hotel comes with breakfast as an option. Unlike other hotels where breakfast is a buffet, our breakfast was not only home-cooked but also personally prepared by Giuseppe's lovely sweet mother. The breakfast was amazingly delicious and very filling. A definite must-try when you stay here!! We stayed in the Family Suite. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Our daughter was absolutely thrilled to have a room to herself!!! There was even a large dining area. We loved staying here because it has such a nice old world charm to it with crown moldings in the ceiling. Hotel Golden's location was ideal for us. It is in the center of Rome, a short walk to many of the places we had on our list to see. The neighborhood is safe and we enjoyed venturing out in the evenings. We could not ask for a better location. Hotel Golden is quaint and it truly is a gem!! We highly, highly recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Rome. We are so pleased to have found this gem!! Thank you Giuseppe, Maria and family for making our stay in Rome a memorable one. We appreciate your mom for taking the time and effort to cook such delicious breakfast for us. We will definitely stay at your hotel when we visit Rome again. You are a blessing to us!! Thank you very much for everything! Grazie mille!! May God bless you and your family.

Superb hotel. Clean, modern, newer bathroom fixtures, good decor, courteous reception. Room is small but that’s ok. Best hotel so far in our trip out of 10 hotels.

Had a great time staying with Hotel Golden.. they treat you like family and the breakfast made my mama is just the best! 10/10 recommend this place for anyone!

It’s not a traditional large hotel, it’s more like a B & B. The location is excellent, e.g. walking distance to the the Tevi Fountains - the rooms are dated… however if you’re looking for a place to sleep that is very clean, quiet, safe, and at a very reasonable price, with honest and helpful staff, this is the place. :-) :-)

Basic hotel with decently sized rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful. However it was a bit inconvenient to get in and out of the hotel with having us o buzz the staff constantly and or have to call to have someone let you in. It felt like a small Airbnb rather than a proper hotel.

  • 5/5 Victoria A. 1 year ago on Google
The location is absolutely excellent, the room was beautiful and we had enough space for two people in the room. The check-in was super easy and the owners of the hotel are lovely. Run by a family - and you can feel that they're proud of their hotel.

Clean, super delicious breakfast and above and beyond on all service. The family, who owns the hotel are super attentive. They will treat you like family. They are also multilingual in Spanish, Italiano, English and more. Now we know why they earn the Trip Advisory Award in 2012. We vote for this year too. You will not be disappointed.

It took me a while to finally write this review because of constant traveling. If you are in Rome, you cannot go wrong wit staying here. First off, it has a wonderful family who take care of you. Guiseppe and his sister were magnificent in taking care of our needs. Secondly, you cannot go wrong with the AC in the room. The location is also great for being able to walk the city. Note that there are scooters everywhere if you hate walking.

What a wonderful experience!! exactly what we needed. My husband and I stopped in Rome last minute for 2 nights and are so grateful we stayed at Hotel Golden. I am very Type A and the hotel was ready on time, impeccable and in a fantastic location. Staff was very nice and offered a ton of suggestions. Would definitely return!

This was the 3rd time staying at Hotel Golden. Always a fantastic experience. It feels like you are staying with your relatives in Rome. The family is so kind and helpful. They assisted us in booking transportation to and from the airport; provided us with websites to book specific attractions; and recommended local, non-touristy restaurants. They are very respectful and speak several languages fluently. The rooms are very clean. Great level of security. Just a short walk to the Spanish Steps and Villa Borghese. Steps to the Metro. Cute, small boutique hotel at a great value. Will always be my go to hotel and recommendation when visiting Rome.
