The Torre del Fiscale, just under 30 meters high, stands on one of the intersection points between the Claudio and Marcio aqueducts and the Aquae Tepula and Iulia conduits. To these was then added the Felice Aqueduct, which owes its name to Pope Sixtus V (Felice Peretti) and which crosses with its imposing structure, in a perfect state of conservation, the Aqueducts and Tor Fiscale Parks to end near the hills Viminale and Quirinale. It was the first aqueduct built in Rome after the fall of the Roman Empire and is owned by the Municipality of Rome. It stands on ancient Roman structures and the construction technique and characteristics place its construction between the 12th and 13th centuries. The monument represents one of the best preserved examples of the many towers and farmhouses that still mark the landscape of the Roman countryside. It was once believed that they were part of a complex lookout and signaling system to defend the city and the countryside. Recent studies have, however, revealed that these structures were created to defend the crops and land properties of noble Roman families. In fact, in a document from 1277 the tower was sold together with a mill and the vineyards, leading to the hypothesis that it was part of an agricultural estate. The toponym “Torre del Fiscale” dates back only to the 17th century, when it passed into the hands of Mons. Filippo Foppi, (“fiscal”) treasurer of the Papal State. Between 2003 and 2010 it was the subject of studies and monitoring which were followed by consolidation and restoration works to preserve its integrity and allow its use by the public. Today Tor Fiscale shows itself in all its grandeur to those who walk in the Parco degli Acquedotti and has recently been equipped with a lighting system that allows you to enjoy its beauty even at night. The only flaw is the immediate surrounding area full of illegal structures and houses and abandoned waste everywhere which offers a disturbing contrast between magnificence and decay.

It is worth walking through the park with the tower as a point of reference... The pleasant walk in this magical place will make you find an extraordinary artefact which dominates the valley in terms of grandeur and height (perhaps the towers near Colle Opium are close to it). What is striking is not so much that it stands at the intersection between the two aqueducts but rather that if you look carefully at the lower part you can notice the imposing structure on which the medieval tower was probably built to defend the crops and not to guard the territory as often reported. The windows with marble recesses are noteworthy, too bad you can't go up to the top and enjoy the view. A panel explains its structure and origin but it is not possible to visit it for safety reasons. Not bad, the skyline it gives us leaves us speechless. Look at the photos and videos I have posted and the other reviews I have done on Rome and its wonders and if I have been useful click on useful and if you want follow me

Easily reachable from the Porta Furba metro stop or with a beautiful walk continuing beyond the Aqueducts Park is the Tor fiscal park. A natural environment full of beauty and historical remains. Here the Claudio and Felice Aqueducts intersect (the latter already called the rotten water before Pope Sixtus V Felice Peretti restored it and gave it its name) the Goths stopped here and founded the famous Barbarian Camp used several times in history to the attempted invasions of Rome. The tower governs from above what must have been a large agricultural estate, but gives charm and beauty to the whole. A walk is pleasant, a guided tour really useful for learning a lot of things.

It is a park that is rarely visited, except by the inhabitants of the surrounding area. The fact that there is a refreshment point, a place to rent bikes and also a house belonging to those who manage the park and organize guided tours makes it even more beautiful. If you know the routes well, in a short time you can find yourself at the Parco degli Acquedotti, Statuario and Porta Furba. Put in a few more trees and a few more benches... while if I remember correctly, at every entrance there is a big nose that quenches anyone's thirst.

A monument that stands out imperiously between Appia and Tuscolana, ruined by the illegal construction that surrounds it in the questionable perimeter of the aqueduct

Tennis Club La Torre Sporting Club. A club that includes an incredible landscape context having incorporated a Roman aqueduct into it. 6 tennis courts, 4 padel courts, restaurant and green spaces make it a truly beautiful and extremely enjoyable tennis club.
