This is one of the churches that enforced the "knees and shoulders must be covered" rules. It's not entirely obvious where the Caravaggio paintings are - there are no signs directing you to them. But when you enter the church, they are in the front left of the church. There was more of a crowd in that area when we visited. The church is worth the quick, free visit, if you have time and enjoy art.

Nice paintings from Caravaggio in this almost hidden church on the way to the Pantheon. Personally, I dislike this concept of "Pay per view" in which someone needs to pay some money for the paintings to be illuminated. Really? I would imagine the church has more than enough money to not ask for this.

Beautiful church displaying Caravaggio's works. We went at night time and only got to see some of the paintings. Still worth a visit when you're in Rome.

We happen to walked pass St. Louis of the Franch The church is dedicated to the patron saints of France: Virgin Mary, Dionysius the Areopagite and King Louis IX of France. The church was designed by Giacomo della Porta and built by Domenico Fontana between 1518 and 1589,

A beautiful Baroque church filled with Caravaggio's works. Breathtaking and the way his paintings are mounted add even more to the drama of his paintings. A must see! It is a bit crowded, especially among his more famous works, but definitely worth braving the crowds.

This church is beautiful! There is a lot of gold on the ceiling and detail in the paintings *Note they will only let you in if you have shorts below the knee and have your shoulders covered

Lovely church. Here you can see 3 Caravaggio paintings (in the Contarelli Chapel in the front left corner of the church). The entrance is free, but the light in a few chapels goes out every minute or two (in order to preserve paintings and collect donations from people visiting).

We found this church by accident, and we decided to go there. There weren't so many people there because it's not "must to see". Highly recommend to visit this church if you are nearby.

Incredible beauty. In the left nefe from the altar you will find the masterpieces of Caravaggio.

Three Caravaggio paintings in one church , where else do you have that ? These most amazing masterpieces can be seen every day, but beware of lunchtime when the church is closed. For 1 euro, the light goes on and illuminates the paintings, which are otherwise in the dark.

The splendid interior of S. Luigi dei Francesi will take your breath away, not only thanks to the three large-scale Caravaggios decorating the Contarelli Chapel that were the painter's first major public commissions. Make sure you try Günther Gelato on the way to the church.

The Church of St Louis of the French is the national church in Rome of France. Of all the national churches, it is the most impressive. The church was designed by early Baroque architects Giacomo della Porta and Domenico Fontana, and completed in 1589.

The golden art which is called “ Barocco “ Is visible around the church. How delicate and carefully had been worked on the sculptures , For me, the curtain sculpture was surprising! There are Caravaggio’s paintings also there that each of them has secrets and meanings .

A personal favorite out of all the churches and places I've gone on this Italy trip. The ceiling is beautiful. The numerous altars lining the inner walls are fantastic. This church will get very popular during peak hours so please remember to remain quiet out of respect. People were asked to be silent numerous times on our stay over the loudspeaker which was very disrupting.

Bring coins for the timed lamps; so you can see the Caravaggios, which are the highlight of this cathedral.

It was very worthy to visit. Caravaggio paintings are at the left-hand side, the end of the church. Because of the number of tourists, it is hard to spend enjoying the paintings for more than a few minutes. Even though it is very beautiful here and free of charge!

This place is amazing! It's free to enter and has some amazing paintings that could be in a large museum. I'm only posting one picture in the hopes that you'll take the time to visit. Stop by between the Pantheon and Navona. You won't regret it!

It’s a elegant and beautiful church, a few minutes walk from Pantheon. It’s definitely worth to visit. And it’s free.

Great place where you can see Caravaggio paintings for 1 EUR! It is the only cost for turning on the light over the paintings.

It's a beautiful convocation of art and architecture. The church has 3 Caravaggio paintings at the end on the left, and beautiful highly-saturated blue ceilings on both sides of the white and gold. Check it out!

Three Caravaggio paintings in one church?! I guess this can only happen in Rome. Bring coins as the light will only illuminate with coins of course you could also count on others to put in a coin

Very beautiful church, we went there accidentally by going to the Pantheon. And it was a great decision! Inside you will find a true majesty of golden beauty: the ceilings are incredible. And what’s more: there are paintings by Caravaggio. Must-see! 😊

If this isn’t on your list of places to visit in Rome, add it now! Beautiful baroque church with incredible art from some dead guy named Caravaggio (sarcasm). The only reason I’m giving 4 starts instead of 5 is I don’t necessarily agree with the pay per view aspect of the paintings. In order to illuminate the painting for a period of ~2 minutes someone must insert 1-2 € into a machine. Otherwise, this is an absolute gem and must visit if you appreciate art!

This place is one big chef’s kiss. Not only you got to enjoy the beauty of the church and it’s religious artwork but you have a unique opportunity to see original Caravaggio’s work. It’s free to enter and sometimes can get busy, but usually it’s fine. For most of the artworks you can pay to have more light shining on it to have a better look (can’t remember how much but around 1 euro).

From a walking distance from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, you can see three stunning Caravaggio paintings. The three feature Matthew the apostole and author of the gospel. There’s a fee of 1 euro to turn the lights on to better see the paintings.
