I came across this church on my way to the national museum so glad I did. One of Michelangelo’s last architectural works. Look for the meridian in the floor of the church which is illuminated by a hole high in the wall. Find all twelve zodiac signs - Scorpio is hiding!

Was beautiful but dark inside, more photos next month from my camera. Was just before a funeral

Beautiful church built inside the ruined frigidarium (one of the colder baths inside a bathhouse) of the Roman Baths of Diocletian. It's right in the centre of Rome (Piazza della Repubblica) and a must visit when nearby. We spent over 30 mins just looking at the individual chapels and some areas were open on the day so we were able to see that too.

Looks like a complete ruin or condemned building, but when you step inside your transported to another place. Breathtaking basilica. The pictures do not do this place justice.

One of my favorite churches in Rome. Inauspicious from the outside but don't miss it. There is a great little courtyard just to the left of the main altar with some old relics and carvings. Well worth the time. Near Piazza Republica .

I accidentally stumbled upon Michelangelo’s last works as my BnB was near here but I was glad I did. The interior, sculptures and how they presented everything was reminiscent of the rich history. It is free entry but am not giving it 5 stars only because I was a little intimidated by some homeless people inside the entry but really not the church’s fault.

This is one of the nicest Basilica’s in Rome, it’s stunning. The architecture is gorgeous, the artwork, stone work and museum is beautiful. It’s fairly large with lots to see and do. The artwork, statues, artifacts and religious clothing is very well preserved and displayed. Its collection is impressive, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend checking out the Basilica Saint Mary of The Angels, it’s a great place for families and children of all ages.

What an amazing place, with history down several levels to a very very early Christian altar! We went into Santa Maria of the Angels by chance, and were just mesmerized- it was on our 3rd day in Rome, we hadn’t seen many churches yet, and this was just loaded with art and amazing history. We highly recommend a visit here, and allow some time to go below and see amazing preserved ruins, and history.

One of the most beautiful churches and structures in Rome. Must-see place if you are in Rome. Very permissive/tolerant dress code and no entrance fee.

Amazing! This place is so grand. I was lucky enough to see a performance on the grand organ. It was beautiful.

A must see basilica in Rome. Designed by Michaelangelo. Lots of great stained glass and statues to see here. The sundial was rather intriguing as well, definitely a nice touch. Massive organ as well, would love to hear it played. You are also able to walk around outside which has lots of cool architecture to see. Worth the visit.

It is a place you must see while on your historical tour in Rome. Because you can see the Foucault pendulum there.

It's very Beautiful as expected, being inside the Basilica was lovely and so solemn for me. Awesome travel to that beautiful period in time when the Basilica was so lovingly built and finished.

This is the first place I came across when going for a wander away from the Termini station area. Beautiful church full of spectacular paintings within, and gardens with what look like Roman remains without.

A ton of history in this location with ties to Michaelangelo architecture. Make sure to view the meridian line that is set on the floor, a still functional sundial.

Don't judge a book by its cover applies to this beautiful basilica...enjoy the pics attached.

The basilica was beautiful with several chapels and informational signs in Italian, French, English, and German. It would be a beautiful place to worship.

Fantastically huge and wonderfully created church. Lots of architectural elements to observe and enjoy. It is a working church so only portions were open to the public.

Beautiful ornate church within walking distance of Rome train station. Originally it was an ancient Roman bath that was converted to this church by Michelangelo.

FREE to go in and pleasantly surprised once inside. It is huge inside with various pieces of artwork painted on the walls and ceilings. Not what you would expect when looking at the outside!

I was enticed by the fascinating exterior of this basilica and was even more impressed with the insides. Every church in Rome has its own secret surprise. This basilica had the meridian going through it. Very intriguing, for sure!

A truly beautiful building, the quiet inside was so calm and peaceful. A humbling experience to have had the privilege of visiting this glorious place.

A very interesting church with an interesting interior. A Meridian Line and a large pendulum. External doors are very simply decorative.

Come here to see one of the first ever solar clocks! Made in order for parishioners to tell time. Absolutely mind-blowing. Zodiac signs on the floor corresponded to how a sunbeam incident to the floor moves throughout the year! The entire Basilica used to be an ancient roman bathhouse (keep your eyes peeled for nautical motifs from that era!)

An absolutely stunning church with an interesting sundial/meridian solar line (including astrological imagery) across the floor. (Be sure to not step on it!) Very easy to overlook from the outside.

A 16th Century major Basilica in Rome, with the legendary Michelangelo being one of its architects. The inside has some gorgeous features that are unexpected based on what you see from the outside.

Highly recommended for those that visit Rome, as it is just off the Termini Station. It’s free for entry and a great example of the association of Baroque and old Roman styles. You can spend half an hour there. There is a nice Galileo statue where the baths were.

A beautiful and peaceful church. Designed by Michaelangelo, it contains one of the first solar clocks, stained glass windows, sculptures, and artwork. It is built in the old Roman Bath house that forms part of the National Museum. It is very easy to get to as it is near the train station.

Great basilica dedicated to Mary the mother Jesus and designed by the great Michelangelo. Lovely fountain at the front of the church.

Hidden gem! This place wasn't really on our initial list, and isn't anything too special from the outside, but the inside is absolutely stunning!
