I enjoyed feeding the giraffes and feeling their rough tongues. I also enjoyed the nature trail and the scenery is perfect for photos. I however feel that there should be more to do at the giraffe center. It felt insufficient.

The Great thing about Giraffe center is this is a rescue and breeding place to preserve the Giraffes. They are not harmed or doing tricks for folks. You can feed them and caress them up close.

I loved the lions. They look so healthy. But some other animals look sad. All in all, affordable simple place to spend with the kids especially when not ready for so many activities

This is a cheap way of going on a game drive, minus the drive itself. At the orphanage you get to see select wild animals which due to unfortunate circumstances, they have to be taken care of by humans since they can’t really survive in the wild by themselves. All in all, it is a nice and affordable activity.

2nd time coming here, and the kids loved it. Feeding the giraffes is always a wonderful past time. They have time slots allocated throughout the day to allow social distancing, and this also gives enough time and space for gusts to feed the giraffes. Last time we were here, we really had to squeeze through a large crowd to get to take pictures. We were also allowed to have our picnic here and it was a wonderful experience.

A nature walk with a variety of animals to watch along the walk, and one decides how long they would like to stay on the walk. Great place to visit while in Nairobi.

This was a rather disappointing visit on a Sunday. With tye larger crowds and it being a public holiday, you would expect them to go out of their way, but the section with animal horns has few artifacts, is unkempt and disorganized. Boards with animal names & history missing The rear of the premises was dirty. No guides to be seen unlike a few years back Fewer animals than I recall (maybe this is good tho, seeing that it is an orphanage). Prices were affordable with 200 Sh for adults and 100 for kids (Kenyan Citizens). Generally, it's run down and needs a totap makeover.

Great work they are doing with the rescue. At least I got to see a leopard up close. They probably should bring back the holding of cheetahs, I had really looked forward to it. All in all great experience.

Wonderful place for children. Unlike the safari walk, the grounds at the animal orphanage are easier for children to cover while they enjoy watching the animals. Totally recommend for people with kids. Spare 2hours for this activity.

Great selection of healthy looking animals. The safari part has an interesting backdrop of Nairobi while you look for the variety of animals here. Giraffes, zebras, rhinos white and black, lions, ostriches, various antelope, crocodiles, wide variety of birds and even a monitor lizard. Well worth a visit

Great experience, enjoyed it to the max. It needs time to complete the Safari Walk so don't be in a hurry. Request for a guide because they know how to ensure you get the most out of the experience. Get there early enough before the sun gets too hot and rest assured you will have a memorable experience. Eat some lunch at the Sebastian restaurant and just unwind. It rustic and laid back. I will definitely visit again and again.

Sheer neglect is seen inside. Cleanliness is not maintained in many animal cages & compound. Many cages are empty & few animals are present. Better to go for Safari walk & National Park & avoid Animal Orphanage.

In January 2021, I visited Nairobi animal orphanage, which is located at the entrance of Nairobi national park. It is a very interesting centre, especially for families with children, where you can see: - cheetahs, leopard, lions with cubs, African wild dog, stripped hyenas, monkeys, birds. - zookepers feeding animals You can learn a lot of information about the rescued animals (age, where they were found, their way of life…). If you can want, you can ask for guided tours, or ask for additional information to the keepers, who are very friendly and knoledgeable. We were very lucky to meet the keeper Lawrence, who is enthusiastic, fond of lions and very happy to tell you all you’ve ever wanted to know about these animals The aim of Nairobi animal orphanage is to release in the wildness the: 1) adult animals after they have undergone therapy successfully (which is not always possible depending on the severity of injuries); and 2) orphans after they become adult and able to survive alone. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to release some animals in the wildness in all cases, as some animals have had severe injuries, and are no more able to hunt alone in the wildness. The animals are not stressed and kept in very healthy conditions; all of them live in parks that are very clean adapted to them. For example, all big cats have places to hide in the grass and houses (where they can protect against rain if necessary), for example the cheetah called “PJ” has a small house where he can rest, the leopard called “Talek” has a tree where he can climb. The work of the keepers and the veterinary is crucial and huge for wild animal survival and re-introduction in the wildness. CONGRATULATIONS!!! When you’ll come in Nairobi, I HIGHLY recommend to visit Nairobi animal orphanage, allowing you to have a wonderful experience and to support the team in continuing their fantastic work. I’ll come back!!!

We couldn't go for the National Park tour and opted for the walk and it was more than worth it. The guards were super nice, the went into the animals' hideouts and chased them out, we saw almost all the animals available. Try not to go when the sun is up and hot, go in the morning hours if you can

The place is in the heart of the city. Being an orphanage the animals are not so vast for incredible experience you can get to the park. Entry for the orphanage is ksh 200-adults, ksh100- children and under 3 years get in for free. There are tour guide services if needed. I loved that this thrilled the children. Thanks Kws for the experience.

Looking for a place to spend your afternoon outdoors and at only Kes 200 or USD 20 in Nairobi??? This place is the right place to go with your friends to have a walk and get to see some animals: lions, cheetah, leopard, buffalo, peacock, warthog etc. I loved my whole experience here, not crowded for a Sunday afternoon. The payment system is strictly no cash and allows only MPESA and the receipts were worth the look. Get also a chance to gather some knowledge from the animals caretaker** who gave us insights and some info about the animals. There are 15+ years old animals there. Please carry your national ID or a proof for identification. (Did you know a peacock only spreads out its feathers to only attract a peahen?) The orphanage is just after the main gate of the National Park Gate and not the main gate at Langata Road. You can use Rongai mats to access if coming from CBD on PSV means. Ongataline, Rongao, Orokise, Kiserian sacco mats or Naboka (goes to Karen from Bus Station) drop you at the gate. Board the Rongai mats at Naivas Development House next to Ngong ones on Moi Avenue or Naboka at Bus Station and alight at National Park stage opposite Langata Cemetery.

Nairobi National Park was an amazing and adventurous experience! The close proximity to the city allows for a unique blend of wildlife and urban landscapes. Seeing lions, giraffes, and zebras against the backdrop of Nairobi's skyline was truly breathtaking. The game drive was filled with thrilling moments, and the park's conservation efforts are commendable. A must-visit for any nature enthusiast!

Awesome wildlife sanctuary. Amazing experience to visit this iconic place where we got to see various game animals. Cool environment to spend a weekend with family or friends where you get to learn a lot about wildlife more than you just see on TV. Going to Kenya and you know you have to experience the wild life reserves so of course that was my first Spot. Unfortunately I couldn’t go to the National park due to the time I got there, was told I wouldn’t see a lot of the animals so I opted for the animal orphanage. It’s an orphanage so yea you have to be supportive but mehn did they oversell it, i was promised opportunities to see all the animals feed but that didn’t happen. Also, there were very few animals and nothing so exotic except the Lions (which they had in excess) and then a cheetah but you can try it out if you’re not a fan of the wildlife safari.

The Giraffe Centre in Nairobi is made up of 2 segments-the giraffe interaction /feeding, and a beautiful nature trail that one can explore at their own leisure. The centre is a great way of making conservation and education accessible to help preserve, and continue to grow, the dwindling Rothschild species in Kenya. Highly recommend if you would like an up close view of these spectacular creatures and contribute toward community biodiversity education!

  • 5/5 Noemy P. 3 years ago on Google
Our experience at the giraffe center was amazing. Mourice was an very good guide. He told us a lot about the giraffes and the mission of the center. We also went on a walk in the trails where he explained to us all the proprieties of the plants and also a little bit of history about the creation of the center. It’s a 10$ very well invested. Even if I want on a safari, the experience at the center is not to same because you get to pet, fed and be very close to the beautiful giraffes. If you are in Nairobi, it’s a amazing day trip. It’s about 30 minutes drive from Nairobi center in a Uber.

  • 5/5 Zoe C. 3 years ago on Google
Wonderful environment with giraffes of all ages, youngest is currently 1 month old and the oldest is 20!! It's an amazing experience to be able to feed them and observe from so close up. Always recommend going at least once if you're visiting or living in Nairobi!💞

Great set up and ambiance for an exclusive close up experience with the world's tallest animals. It was amazing learning about how it started and the walk through the small botanical natural forest was more than thrilling! Would love to go back!⁸

Great educative tour by the guides! There is no other place on earth where you get close to Giraffes than this, and the prices are friendly too!!

Really nice place to visit and learn about giraffes. The service is good and there are lots of facilitators to help you interact with the animals safely plus they know A LOT about giraffes. There's also a nature trail next door that is pretty neat with lots of birds and trees. Would recommend to anyone looking for a plan in Nairobi.

Nice place for a short afternoon outing for a family. Lovely experience to feed the giraffes.Awesome cool climate to just have a cup of coffee as you catch up and relax.

  • 5/5 Anderson G. 3 years ago on Google
Its always a breathtaking to be upclose with the majestic giraffes. Having been there severally, you connect and learn from the giraffe family. It was sad to return and find the older giraffes passed away😥. Good tip is to always ask if you can suggest a name for the new baby giraffes on the way. Watch out for Daisy she can head butt you when she's a bit moody 😆.

Amazing place and definitely recommended. They treat the animals in a very good way, provide background information, and you are able to feed them with a restricted amount of animal food. Definitely go to place once you're in Nairobi. It's small though and you'll be done within an hour.

(Translated by Google) Awesome place and very friendly staff. Entry for foreigners costs KSh 1,500, which may be a little expensive but definitely worth it. Payment due to covid only by bank cards, but when a problem arose due to the fact that I only had cash, the staff quickly found the person who paid for me, and I gave the cash. In the park itself, there are many giraffes (and if you are lucky you will see warthogs) which you can feed, very interesting animals. Food is given free of charge, upon request, the staff will photograph you or shoot a video. There is a mini museum and a playground to watch animals at the level of their heads. Getting there by bus is not difficult, there is a world-famous hotel with giraffes nearby, and a nursery for elephants nearby (it was closed due to quarantine).

A very nice place for family outing. You can chose from the safari walk where you walk around on suspended platform and watch animals from above, the orphanage, but here they have lions, lions and more lions in cages (I wish they had variety), or the gamepark where you drive and watch the animals (don't forget binoculars if you have one).but I love the days when they had variety of animals.

If you are a lover of wild animals, this is the place you can watch them at close range. There are cheetahs, leopards, lions, hyenas and other wild animals in a cage. Pros. You get to watch all wild animals within a short time. A great place to have fun with family Cons: Some of the big five e. g elephants are not there. You may have to take a game drive in another national park to view them. Charges.- They range depending on residency. Residents pay Ksh 200-250

Well to be honest the place no longer offers any attractions unless you want to mostly see caged lions and lionesses. And a lot of monkeys roaming around the place. Very few animals and seems quite dry but its one of Nairobi's places to visit.

  • 5/5 HAV3N 3 years ago on Google
Nairobi National Orphanage is one of my favourite places in Nairobi. The animals are we taken care of, the staff are friendly, and they've taken sufficient precautions to protect people from COVID-19. The entry fee is cheap, making it the perfect place to take your family for a trip, if you're on a budget. If you want to take in the ambience on your own, you should go on a weekday. It's very quiet and you'll most likely have the place to yourself. They have some of the Big 5 but not all of them. They also have a wonderful selection of big cats. Beware the baboons though. They are everywhere. Don't feed them. And remember, Warthogs have right of way.

Always a fun visit, the Safari Walk allows you to enjoy a jungle-like trek, mostly on an elevated boardwalk, through one side of the Nairobi National Park. Most of the big five can be seen, as well as several species of birds, monkeys, antelopes, hyenas, etc. Do pick a guide to take you through. Many animals have select hiding spots in the brush, and the guide will be very useful in pointing them out. Please do not litter! And do watch out for thieving baboons.

  • 4/5 Paul D. 3 years ago on Google
Nice walk through different landscapes in the outskirts of Nairobi in Karen. Various animals typical to Kenya and beyond are on display. The Cheetah's did not show up, though. In general a great experience but the park is a bit run down. It's a shame actually but give it a try.

  • 3/5 Son K. 3 years ago on Google

  • 5/5 Yvonne N. 3 years ago on Google
Great. So much to see, Kenya is a blessed country, enjoyed the lions so much.

  • 2/5 Gabriella D. 3 years ago on Google
It's a zoo with a little more space for animals than usual. Not much to see, monkeys and one lion were in cages (the lion was sick, poor thing), very lonely and sleepy. Price for non residents is insanely high (20 USD, or roughly 2200 KES), considering what you get. It's a good way to support the wildlife service though, I guess.

Not worth $20. Animals are in a slightly bigger closures. Just go for Nairobi national park instead.

Both the orphanage and the safari walk were beautiful places. But I have one reservation, we rescued an animal from the harsh realities of the wild. Then confine him/her for life. How much of their rights are we violating?

  • 1/5 Mary 2 years ago on Google
Set them free! I don't see how it is a rescue center or an orphanage. It doesn't worth the 20 USD. And I invited my Kenyan driver and paid only 400 shillings for him he didn't like it. The worse part is having this girl guide telling me they had been in this cage for 20 years. What is the point? You have the National park at a few meters. Just rescue them then release them if they die they die. But they seem very healthy. It is a zoo. And a very poor zoo. I nearly cancelled my entrance at the Nairobi park. Please spend a little more and visit this beautiful park. And this place should be shut down. It gives a very bad image of the park. Those animals should be set free. No baby animals here. Just old depressed animals. Cages too small. Everything we are fighting against in Europe. And a few meters from a national park it is very cruel.

Lovely people there and happy animals ensured to give you and your Family memorable Memories. . . . Watch out for the terrible Baboons tho!! 😭😂

  • 3/5 Leonard K. 2 years ago on Google
It's good place especially for families. Children love it, they love seeing the animals they see I cartoons come to live. I however noted the variety is lacking a little bit. I suggest if they could add a few more animals in the empty cages. Or may be the animals have to be rescued. Any way, it's convenient, ample parking, and fun to run around with the small ones...

This place is really nice for little people that want to see different wild animals. The kids really enjoyed the hour we spent walking around seeing lions, cheetahs, different bird species, hyenas etc. I would definitely recommend it for a Saturday morning hangout with the kids. 🦁🪶

Really appreciated the people working in the orphanage. Their knowledge and care of the animals was top notch. The cage fencing made seeing the animals quite hard - especially taking pictures.

It's a great place for family time to see the animals and get to walk a little. As I was last there back in 2007 when just a child now as an adult I found the walking park distance shorter than expected. No giraffes and no elephants..my kid enjoyed nevertheless!

I went on a weekday to avoid the commotion that is usually there on the weekends since it is a family day. The tour guides are always ready to assist you. They are very nice and welcoming. You are free to walk around the park as long as you do not violate the rules.

One thing I love about Nairobi national park is the roads, you don't need a 4 wheel drive to drive on them, even a small two wheel vehicle will do. Those who will read this, this is what I do, you can always contact me when in Kenya or Nairobi for a ride or a tour drive.

Fantastic place!! Wonderful opportunity to appreciate the amazing flora and fauna of mother afrika. Diverse wide life, the hippos, the rhinos, elephants, lions, warthogs, gazelles, spring bucks, vervet monkeys with blue balls, bufallos etc. You should plan a visit you will love it! Nature at its peak preserved only in Africa.

  • 3/5 Rahul S. 1 year ago on Google
There are a couple of animals that you can see. Mainly there seems to be a lot of lions. These animals change from time to time I would assume so as to relocate the animals back to the wild if possible. Overall it's great for kids to see some animals and enjoy the day with their parents. It takes a long time to get a ticket especially on weekends. The place does not seem to be very well maintained in my honest opinion.

Nice place to take kids to see the various animals if you are unable to go into the main park, there is a variety of different animals on show including lions, cheetah and zebra, lots of monkeys roaming freely and mingling with the crowds which is good for the kids

Was highlight of trip . Saw all the many animals there. It's a fairly large park. So enjoy the ride and animals. Zebras giraffe monkey rhinos antelope lions birds reindeer and many more. Start entering park about 9 or 10 am that's when animals start roaming around. Nice gift shop.

Interesting little park with different animals from Kenya. There is a lot of information about flora and fauna and the best thing for the children is a free-roaming young giraffe which can be fed and petted.

Midday visits not always the best unless during feeding. Most animals were less active due to hot temperatures I guess. Just ensure you have eCitizen access for payment purposes. The new system is really delaying the process of payment

This is a very nice place to visit with your family, especially with young kids. If you want to see some of the common animals in kenyan parks, then you should visit this place to get an up close view of the animals since they are caged. Some like monkeys and baboons roam freely, and they aren't at all aggressive with visitors. Go see the animals play, eat, sleep, and relax as they are taken care of by the workers. Actually, some of the animals have names that you can call them, and surprisingly, they respond. I paid just Ksh 300 to enter, and you can do this through cash or mpesa. There are restaurants within the park, so there is no need to carry packed food. #tembeakenya

Nairobi National Park is a unique gem located right on the outskirts of the bustling city. It's amazing how you can spot giraffes, lions, and rhinos with the city skyline as a backdrop. A must-visit for nature lovers and a great escape from the urban chaos. I appreciate the efforts made to protect the wildlife and ecosystem of Nairobi National Park. It's a crucial reminder of the need to preserve our natural heritage. If you are in Kenya and want to visit this place, the better would be to leave your hotel as early as possible. The early you enter into the Park, the more you will see animals.

This is not a zoo- these animals were rescued and in most cases, cannot be returned to the wild. So bearing this in mind, the small cages can be excused They are well looked after. Staff are super friendly. Careful of scammers wanting to take pictures for you and expecting a donation afterwards. Great to experience with kids as you can walk up to where the lions are, etc.

We stopped here on our way out of Nairobi National Reserve. The extra fee charged goes to feeding and caring for the animals here. We had a lovely young woman show us around and talk about the animals and how they got to the orphanage. Some were injured, some were seized from the exotic pet trade. Very good signage as well. It was admittedly sad to see these wild creatures caged, but given the alternative, they were in a good place.
