Nice theatre, probably grossly under-utilised. Not sure where performances are advertised, but to this date I have only attended performances that I got to know of by word of mouth. The bar service can be a little slow, especially during a short break.

The theater is great and organised and beautiful as expected, except ... that most of the spring mechanisms in the seats of the chairs in the theater are extremely "volatile". It's a mission to push the seat down before one sits down, especially for small children. A tiny little girl next to me in Row G was injured, luckily no bruises, when she sat a bit too far forward on the chair and then the tight spring in the mechanism of the seat suddenly jerked the seat of the chair up. She fell forward, onto the floor, then cried and sat on her mother's lap during the rest of the show. All seat mechanisms need to be adjusted/relaxed to avoid injuries in future, especially to small, lightweight individuals.

I was am not impressed by the marketing team, for many rears now. They seemed to have no clue about how to market the show from an artist’s perspective. They did not do any research on the target audience or the community. They did not have any relevant or deep knowledge of the content or the context of the show. They did not have a clear vision or strategy for promoting the show. They did not have a strong leader or a cohesive team. They need to hire better people who are have serious strategy for marketing, look at building aircon repair and maintenance, do very strong internal research for marketing, and sort out a leadership team for marketing, seriously. Great sound system!

We watched the Nutcracker and the Christmas Show ballet. Both were absolutely wonderful and the service was excellent!! Definitely a place worth visiting!! The Christmas Show is running for a few more days and is a stunning show!! A must for the whole family!

I'm extremely biased as a performer, but I've always found the theatre staff helpful and patient (especially when dealing with disobedient children). Facilities are spotless audience side with the changing rooms just being a little under loved but still fantastic.

Safe secure area to park, only negative experience is the teatre chair's, very unstable/lose, small and hard. I think they not build for big/large people! Enjoy the shows.

The theater is sooo beautiful. Very clean waiting area , the kiosk also a very good idea for one to get something to snack on while waiting for the show to begin ,

Brilliant performance by the artists. Pity the backdrops let them down. Also had to wait 10 mins for VIP guests to arrive, which is totally unacceptable.

The theatre is well maintained and the staff is very well trained. There was a guest in a wheelchair and the theatre had no wheelchair access on the inside. The lady has to be carried to her chair. Maybe a movable ramp to assist a wheelchair will be a great asset.

We went to a wonderful production on the weekend of the best of Broadway, it was excellent !! the theatre is also really great but.....we were absolutely frozen , NO heating on and we are in the middle of winter, the lady next to me had a blanket , she was told to bring a blanket from a friend who had been there the day before, if you have no heating please advise people to bring a blanket !!! The restaurant STAGES is an absolute disgrace to your lovely theatre, it does not do your lovely theater justice, they should go , they are shocking NO service at all waited nearly an hour for a toasted sandwich , too sad . definitely will never return to that restaurant . Get rid of them fast !!! Regards Carol Kruger

I was surprised at the good service we got the second time around going there. If only things are clearer and transparent of how their systems work and what's required for visiting their offices. Some staff members are on top of their products and knows what is needed and the steps to be taken to address any issues. Hopefully their system at door could be handled more professionally if they put the right people there to assist the public.

One of the best theaters in Joburg. Acoustics are awesome, and your view is great from any seat in the theater.

Very nice and well organised. Juat reception area seems a, bit small to receive many visitors. Some seat numbers are repeated and that made some confusion.

Took grandchildren to see Liewe Heksie. They were allowed to interact with actors. They had a great time. I also enjoyed the show. I had read all the books as a primary School pupil. Remember the books fondly. Thank you for the memories. Also have DVD of Liewe Heksie. Well done actors

Quite a pleasant surprise indeed. My wife and daughter went to watch the ballet hosted at this venue and we were pleasantly surprised at how well maintained the theatre is, considering it is hosted at the municipal buildings. Everything went well and there was ample parking, sufficient staff and a professionally coordinated event. Overall, we're very impressed.

It's clean for the most part, but I had my dance concerts there for 11years. My dance teacher mostly complained about the prices of renting it out as you need to pay extra for lighting and music assistance from the staff. For a while the toilets in the dressing rooms didn't always work nor the faucets, but they have upgraded and fixed the bathroom situation. And the largest dressing room that sat by the stage, has no mirrors atleast from last that I was in there... So bring a mirror with just in case. There were enough dressing room space for our more smaller dance school, and the backstage area is pretty big so you don't need to squeeze by to get to your next spot. But I highly recommend bringing your own food if you stay there long or going out to eat, the restaurant is very expensive as well as the snack bar. You can always picnic on the large grass areas and they even installed a playground area for the kids. All in all, the only problem is the high prices, but furthermore I would say it's a pretty good place for a concert and much more reliable than other theatres

Stunning theatre with comfortable facilities was great to attend a performance there after such a long time of being not allowed to. Covid-19 regulations strictly adhered to.

It is not real to sit very far apart In a theatre. Ballet show was very good.

This Theatre delivers a rewarding experience to the audience watching the performances rendered, thanks to good professional lighting used creatively to illuminate the Dancers performing the varied pieces. This movement is backed by a high definition audio system which delivers an impressive and immersive experience for the audience. All round delivery of a satisfying evening of Dance with Music, convincingly presented by the skilled, enthusiastic and well choreograph young Dance Troupe.. JAN. Whitehead. Kensington Jhb

The Theatre was good but I am disappointed in the coordination of the "talent Africa" event hosted here today.. It was a bit chaotic as the announcement for the price hand outs were announced inside the Theatre and people in the queue outside didn't know when their kids would get their medals handed out and some missed that special moment. After I went to ask the staff to call it out loud to the que as well and to repeat the announcement did some staff member take ownership to do just that non the less My question to speed things up why they didn't use the other auditoriums and just guided via announcements the people where to go. They were also way behind schedule Then the building air-conditioning didn't work and with a fully packed Theatre the heat is immense. We'll i have to thank them for trying as they supplied 2 x big standing fans one on each side but seriously this didn't help as all to cool the venue. Really sad to know you expect thousands of people to attend an event but have only hundreds of seats. No proper PA System or a loud speakers outside for the dancers or contestants to hear who is next, and then the coordinator stopped the handing out of the Dancers awards apatently they didn't work together and over the microphone she announced that the dance teachers have to teach their people to listern BUT WHAT IS THE USE IF ONLY THE PEOPLE INSIDE THE THEATER HEAR THE ANNOUNCEMENTS AND NO ONE OUTSIDE....

JAC all the best of luck for your new ventures. Meraki Blue last night was refreshing to see such good technique and footwork in our city again. The dancers are young, strong and very talented. An enjoyable variety show if I may call it that, very entertaining.

Very nice theatre with a bar, great staff. It was just a bit confusing when navigating to the actual entrance, the GPS took us to another gate at first, maybe if they can just put a notice up there one would know where to go. But otherwise had a great time watching an opera here! Really a nice space

Saw a show there and it was a great experience. Parking a bit of a mission though. Also, parking didn't feel that secure, hence my 4 star.
