Not impressed with their housekeeping and maintenance team . The basin had an issue I called and was told they are sending someone up which never happened, I guess we had to sort our selves out. After breakfast we came back to our room since check out is 11am we still had +2 hours and twice housekeeping came without knocking and just budged in . Theres a point where I felt unsafe. Customer service at the front desk and the guys that assist at breakfast is absolutely amazing. The room was nice but clearly small. I could hear the phone alarm of the person in the next room vibrating at 5am ,I could not go to sleep again . If you want a peaceful place with no issues ,this place is not for you. After paying you must sort out any problems you encounter yourself.

Not impressed, the rooms aircon did not work, the fridge was not in working condition. We booked a deluxe suite which includes breakfast, they did not advise that it was only for 1 person, A complete misrepresentation. We got locked out of our room way before checkout. Upon leaving the hotel the security requested a receipt for parking, this was not provided to us. I had to go back to reception to make payment. The staff are average ito service. We are not impressed with this hotel.

Rooms especially bathrooms needs attention. Our room first of all we booked it and were told there was a bath. We got to our room no bath, then the shower head was disgusting. It had brown green mould coming out of it, and in-between the tiles was mouldy. It was really terrible. And the pillows in the rooms are horrific, they need to get firmer and better pillows ASAP alot to do to change my mind to return here

I really was very pleasantly surprised at my experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, I was taken care of by smiling staff. The service through out my stay was excellent. Management has added personal touches like a meet and greet. Food was as good as buffets go and room service was efficient. The room itself was very comfortable with all the nice to have amenities. Bathroom was a bit compact but suited me fine as I was alone. Shuttle service was efficient and most convenient. Definitely will return when necessary

I didn't stay but attended a conference. Amazing service and food! I was impressed with staff and the layout of the lobby for chatting or catching up on work.

As being part of a well known hotel franchise in South Africa I expected professional and efficient service. Unfortunately this was not the case for my visit. Upon arrival there were issues with my room key card. I couldn't use it to get up in the lift on my room level. This happened twice and then I was sent to the incorrect lift that was on the opposite end of the hotel. Rooms were clean but not clean clean if you know what I mean. Unfortunately staff were not very keen or in the mood the assist me. Morning of check out I packed my bag, went down for breakfast, went back up to get my bags and check out but I was locked out of my room and couldn't access my bags. This took about 30 min and it still wasn't resolved, staff had to open for me and they never came back with a new card or a solution. Oh and you have to pay R50 parking (I think that's crazy if one spends so much money already at their establishment and still have to pay for parking) All and all very below average experience for a "premium" franchise in South Africa.

Hotel manager Madeleine Roux & her friendly & efficient team provided a lovely & convenient setting for friends and family to gather to celebrate Nina's bridal shower. Starting with the Kitchen Tea set up on the upper level of the restaurant, providing a space seperate from other guest and allowing personal decor to be set up. Guest enjoyed a great breakfast too. Tranquil rooms were available in which friends & family could visit, followed by a shuttle service early evening to a nearby entertainment establishment - Beefcakes. To Madeleine Roux & your friendly & efficient team, thank you for going out of your way to make Nina's Bridal Shower so enjoyable for us all!!

Southern Sun's location is central and Rosebank is honestly a dream. The rooms are clean, large, and beautiful. The pool was lots of fun. The service is excellent. Room service can be hard to get hold of, but I guess it means they're busy.

Amazing service and staff. I had to trouble them a few times in order for me to get settled in but they assisted so much. Definitely will recommend the North Tower and will be back soon.

Amazing breakfast. Make sure you don't get a room with an interleading door as you can hear EVERYTHING in the room next door. Very disappointing that guests are not given the option to not have towels replaced daily given the water and loadshedding crisis the country is facing.

Perfect location, near to the Rosebank Mall Shopping Center and many great restaurants (e.g. MAMASAMBA). The staff were amazing. Housekeeping was brilliant! Very clean rooms (daily cleaning). Perfect Stay !!! The hotel and the surrounding area (Rosebank) are very safe.

Great location in Rosebank. It is a safe area, close to the Rosebank mall, the zone, a hospital and a police station. The lobby of the hotel is modern with a lounge-type vibe. It has the circle bar inside as well as a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room itself was adequate. Had all the necessary amenities. The room was clean and had a great view of the city.

I really enjoyed my stay, the rooms are extremely comfortable with all the amenities you need. But I really need to hand it to the staff. I had an issue with my booking from the travel agent, they attended to me until everything was sorted. I appreciated the extra lengths they took for me!!

Hotels are meant to be y/our comfort zone or place where the hosts must make their guests (clients) feel welcomed and treat them in a respectful and Honorable manner with high level of Etiquette. We shouldn't have to explain ourselves and we are paying so even more care should be taken with the host team. Each one should be trained so well that even a difficult client is kept feeling at ease and secure. At this establishment most of the interaction that took place with the hosts was pleasant. We arrived just after midnight and the one receptionist after doing the booking couldn't find a complementary toothpaste/brush. We called a few times the next morning the help desk, reception and house-keeping, but to no avail. When finally they did send an extra bath sheet water & paste. We went out for our work at 5am returned at 8.40am, took a nap and then afterwards went for breakfast, where we were 5 minutes after the final time which was 10am or 10.30am and we unfortunately couldn't get anything besides a juice and few slices of fruit that wasn't sweet or even perfectly ripe. There was a person that made us feel as if we were criminals, after the restaurant host took our room number at the entrance. They were already 70 to 80 percent cleared up and couldn't really make any plan to even get us anything (which I understand perfectly well the time was up). However they could have made us feel warmly welcomed. I also don't blame these persons. It's the hotel group WHO SHOULD BE IMPROVING THEIR ESTABLISHMENT & STAFF. They should have THIS in MIND, "WE ARE IN THIS INDUSTRY AND WE MUST BE PROVIDING THE BEST STANDARDS SERVICE QUALITY ETC, AS POSSIBLE" ... and this goes for every one in every business and service industry, that the goal is to provide a good service and we aim to make our clients benefit etc I would stay here again and my review is only meant to encourage growth and success. That, we here is SA must up and improve our standards service quality and provide everything at a good reasonable price. When the intention is good, that is to make clients benefit by really doing our best, etc, then naturally the system will attract will good and everyone wins and is happy We must apply such a concerted effort that will improve our business and the service we offer. We grew up using Southern Sun is SA majority of the time and they have Always been providing 3 to 4 Star service. I pray & hope they and all others will aim to provide 5 to 7 star standards service and quality and charge 1 to 2 star rates. This is easily possible. The trick is to be TRUE Tolerant and generous and to rid the vices away, i.e. greed selfishness arrogance anger pride laziness, etc. The Ignorant won't agree and those that agree will progress.

I’ve only ever been in this hotel for conferences, not as a guest. Regardless, the hotel is well equipped and the staff are friendly and attentive. Their attention to detail in the conference rooms was superb (I can only imagine it’s the same in the rooms). The offering at tea break was delicious and so were their buffet lunches. Worth having a conference here and, I would imagine, worth taking the accommodation at the same time.

Lovely place for a sleepover. Various options for breakfast yet chefs on the three nights I was there must have been having a rough week. Buffet menu could be improved by adding more food options and actually allowing guests to finish their food without feeling pressured by chefs. Hats off for the cleaning staff who were ever friendly and front desk people who were super professional

Good hotel, great staff. We'll run operations. They often host conferences for international policy groups which makes for excellent networking at their bar, which true to Sun Hotel fashion is brilliantly run + well priced.

My experience with Southern Sun Rosebank has unfortunately been marred by an unexpected incident. Just 10 days before my anticipated arrival, the hotel's roof collapsed due to a storm. While I understand that unforeseen events can occur, the communication and response from the hotel have left much to be desired. Despite receiving an initial email informing us of the incident and the hotel's intention to transfer us to nearby accommodations within their group, I find myself less than 24 hours away from my planned stay with no further updates or details. This lack of communication has created significant uncertainty and inconvenience. In the realm of hospitality, effective communication is paramount, especially during crisis situations. As a guest, I expected a more proactive approach in managing the fallout from the roof collapse. A swift response and clear communication about the alternative arrangements would have mitigated the stress and uncertainty I am currently facing. The hotel's response have fallen short of the standards advocated in the literature. While I recognize that incidents like these are beyond the hotel's control, the manner in which they handle the aftermath speaks volumes about their commitment to customer service. This experience has left me questioning the hotel's preparedness for unforeseen events and their dedication to ensuring a seamless guest experience. In conclusion, my disappointment stems not only from the unfortunate incident but also from the perceived lack of a well-orchestrated response. I sincerely hope that the hotel can learn from this situation and enhance its crisis management strategies to better serve guests in the future.

I am quite disappointed by my recent stay at Southern Sun Rosebank, after going there frequently over the past few years and using the venue for conferences and stay-cations. The room was dirty, the well done burger we ordered was raw and caused stomach distress, and in the aftermath of receiving reimbursement following overpayment, communication has been poor. I will not be returning to this hotel again and recommend others proceed with caution.

Unfortunately, I encountered issues with incompetent staff and a lack of attention to detail during the invoicing process. Despite my attempts to resolve the matter through a phone call, the response was slow, and it took weeks before I received a call prompting me to make the payment. Furthermore, I observed a concerning disregard for traffic rules by the hotel's driver, raising questions about the overall professionalism and management oversight. I believe addressing these issues promptly is crucial for maintaining the hotel's reputation.

Just a short walk from the main shopping malls. Pedestrians, though, are not accounted for on access roads, with no pedestrian paths. It took a long time to check in even though there was only one person ahead of me. Strange that there are several check-in desks but only one member of staff. Everything else is fine, but not special.

Currently staying here, the room is okay! But the bathroom so tiny can't even take a nice shower in the bath. Also don't like the room as it got a door leading to the next room which make it uncomfortable for me especially hearing noises late at night . Wifi is very horrible literally have to sit by the door to pick up good signal strength.

Southern Sun Rosebank is a great hotel if you are looking for a hotel that is perfectly positioned in the centre of everything in Johannesburg. It is a stylish hotel with a welcoming bar and spacious lounge - and includes a spa, outdoor pool, and a 24-hour gym. In addition to being convenient for business and pleasure, it is very affordably priced and offers great value for money.

I enjoyed my stay so much although we had a lift issue. The lifts and tags were giving us issues however the staff got it sorted it out within a blink of an eye! The food was amazing especially their Rosebank club sandwich, Alfedo with mushrooms topped with prawns!

Hotel is nice enough- rooms are spacious and well styled if perhaps a bit worn from use. Bathroom was very nicely done and room felt very clean. Practically no vegan food options Wi-Fi was abysmal Too slow to watch YouTube Would have been an easy 4 stars from me if not for these things

Stay was great. Only downfall is the parking lot..the drive way is so narrow, in less than 5 minutes i, witness 3 vehicles damaging their rims whilst squeezing to get through, including mine.

My check in was a disaster after realizing that my ID and passport which I had locked in the safe were no longer there. I nearly had a heart attack. After calling for help, twenty minutes later I heard that my documents were found. Explanations to do with miscommunication were provided by the management. The first few days of my stay were full of worry over security of my things. I got easy with time, though.

Service is exceptional. I forgot my jacket at the hotel a year back. They kept it safe and I received it in perfect condition. All staff very friendly and efficient. It is an absolute pleasure staying there. Breakfast was the highlight of my day with the scrumptious dishes and smiles! Well done!

Do not eat at the restaurant, you wait long to get your order if you get it at all, if chips are finished they just pull up their shoulders and still charge you full price. The bath is dirty, they do not clean it. But otherwise the stay was nice. Big spacious rooms that is comfortable , breakfasts is wonderful. Nice to have a fridge in the room since few hotels have them these days, and an added bonus to have plungers available to make plunger coffee in your room.

It was my friend's birthday celebration and we didn't want the hype of the clubs, but we wanted the comfort of food, drinks and a classy atmosphere. The staff, upon arrival, had already carried out all instructions as requested. The food was to die for and the bartender did an excellent job with the drinks.

Good hotel but 1970s dated. Fair value for money. Very good location near a major mall and the hop-on-hop-off bus for touring. Neighborhood very good. Buffet breakfast at 210 Rand was a fair deal but nothing to get excited about. Older style air conditioning that never got the room cold but it was serviceable. I recommend.

Great place to stay. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The wifi worked well everywhere in the building. The food was excellent. There was plenty of secure parking both covered and uncovered with 24 hour attendants. When I was in the lobby, the hotel manager, Don, personally spoke to me to make sure I was happy with my stay. I left a small bag in the lobby one night and the staff remembered I had been sitting there, determined it was mine, and called my room to see if I wanted them to bring it up to my room or hold it for me. This kind of service would be rare even in a smaller hotel. I would highly recommend the Crowne Plaza as a place to stay.

  • 5/5 Richard E. 6 years ago on Google
I loved my stay at the Crowne Plaza! From the moment you walk into the hotel I had a great experience. The staff are super friendly and willing to help. The room I had was spacious and comfortable with a really good air conditioning system. The amenities at the hotel are also fantastic, from the gym to the pool and the the bar and restaurants. The location of the hotel is great as it's in walking distance to the local shopping centre and some amazing restaurants. I would happily recommend this as a place to stay if you're visiting for work or pleasure.

A comfortable hotel next to great shopping. The room was a bit dated and in need of repair - broken refrigerator and fixture in the shower. The see through bathroom is a bit weird to - do not stay here with young children. The service was not good. We waited over an hour for a pot of coffee that came with no cups. They need to step their game up.
