A window into the world of 19th century mining. A spartan but worthwhile outing. If you'd like to actually see much in the mine you should bring a serious flashlight or stay inside long enough for your eyes to become adjusted to the indirect natural light from the many openings in the cliff face. The attraction also serves as an artists venue with art installations in the periphery and occasional performances inside the mine. A donation is requested but there are no formal entrance fees. The mine closes at 4pm daily and can be shuttered for long periods during the winter due to ice. Parking is in an unpaved area adjacent to a couple of period kilns.

Technically private property.....supported by Century House. Check the hours for visiting times. Park at the Synder Estate ( if it's open check it out too) and walk to the mine. Very cool room and pillar structure. Bring a flashlight and good shoes because it is dark and slippery in spots. Well worth taking in the history of the mine but the trails are beautiful too. One word of caution....do not go off trails. Many old ventilation shafts and hidden dangers are scattered throughout the area. There were multiple mines at one time around the area. Part of the history of this place. There are trails that are clearly marked private and no trespassing. Listen to this please.

Free parking available at Snyder Estates. Donation suggestions are listed on sign, hand sanitizer supplied as well as Porta potties at several areas around the beautiful property. A short walk to the mine with signs pointing you directly to the openings. Bring bright flash lights. Deeper in the mine is darker and there is water the rest of the darker part of the cave. There is a platform before the water you can stand on.

This is really cool. Not too many mines that are free. There was almost no one there when we went. We didn't go in very far because there was a lot of water. Not sure if it's always like that or if that's from all the rain. Either way, highly recommend.

An easy to reach mine available for your viewing pleasure courtesy of the Century House Historical Society. A small but visually interesting place to stop if you're in the area but like any other mine, it's cold, damp and dark. Bring a strong flashlight if you wish to see more of the walls as the flashlight in your phone will simply not be bright enough. The mine isn't terribly big so have no fear of getting lost if that's your concern. Parking for the mine is at the Century House on rte 213 and then a quick five minute walk. Hey and since this place and the museum is run by volunteers, "mine" your manners and drop a small donation into of the boxes to help support the local charity.

Museum was closed during our visit. The mine is definitely worth checking out. The cavern is much larger than it looks in photos. Amazing looking up at the ceiling and wonder who figured out the columns to keep the whole place from caving in.

Had nice visit to mine clean peaceful place with gravel walk-in trails around property. Got to tour Synder house briefly very interesting history and guide very informative. Little stage platform inside mine will try to go back and attend show.

Pretty cool place with amazing imagery. The mine itself is quite small but it still worth stopping by if you are in the are. It’s a nice easy hike and can be quite enjoyable.
