Adena hospital in Chillicothe is a joke, they almost killed my mother by not giving her her heart medicine while she was admitted down there put her into the intensive Care unit. Then my wife sees the midwife in Hillsboro, she was great. Has she understood that my wife was using marijuana to help with morning sickness and nausea, then she goes to Chillicothe for an ultrasound and now all of a sudden the hospital has an issue with her smoking pot. And wants her to take counseling. I think the workers of Adena need to go to counseling to learn how to deal with the public and communicate with their own staff so that everyone is on the same page. We are finding a different midwife and a different hospital. Too much of a chance of them killing my unborn child. They almost successfully done it to my mother. I hope no one ever goes to Adena for real emergency care. If all you need is a Band-Aid you're okay.

I had Dr Coats and for 7 months nearly going on 8 Iā€™ve tried to get my back pain, shoulder and neck tightness resolved. Dr Coats would not even order scans such as X Rays, MRI, etc I went to a chiropractor (not at Adena) and they did scans and X Rays and noticed so many problems with my spine, shoulders, and neck. My physical therapist and chiropractor has tried to reach Dr Coats and he never got back with me and my physical therapist and chiropractor. Dr Coats put me on gabapentin for this pain but itā€™s the wrong medication for my condition because Iā€™m not having seizures and nerve pain. Iā€™ve reached out to him after 3 weeks of no response to my physical therapist, chiropractor, and me, that it was still going on, it took him 9 days to reach out to me and he told me, ā€œwhy donā€™t you go ask your psychiatrist about your pain. Iā€™m not doing anything anymore.ā€ A psychiatrist isnā€™t even someone to diagnose or treat pain! Adena has also caused the death of one of my family members from sepsis a few years ago due to malpractice. Iā€™m looking out for the safety and well-being of people who read this, whatever you do, do not get treatment at Adena and definitely do not go to Dr Coats whatsoever, he loathes, very offensive and rude, doesnā€™t want to do the job he was signed up for for his patients, and always downplays the symptoms you have. More recently I was practically held hostage in the ER and they took all my clothes for 7 hours just for being depressed, they misunderstood what was going on with me. It was so traumatizing, they made my depression worse for me and because of how traumatic my experience was, Iā€™m afraid of going to a hospital because of how traumatic it was. I felt like I in a prison cell because of what they did to me in the ER. Adena has been well known for malpractice and mistreatment of its patients. You are better off getting treatment in Columbus.

I was sent from my physician to dr Porter. I suffer with horrible pain from interstitial cystitis. I am never out of pain. I went seeking answers and treatment and I was humiliated and talked down to the entire visit. He was terrible! I would not send my dog to him! Years ago I worked in his office. He didnā€™t remember me. I always thought I would never be a patient there and yet here I was. The reason I never wanted to go there is because of how horrible the drs and staff talked about the patients. They were so disrespectful to the needs of their patients. There was no reason to treat patients in this manner. I was told I would be hearing back from him but I never heard a word from him! If you have any options I would recommend not bothering with this dr. Heā€™s horrible.

Insane wait with 15 month old who needed stitches. Nurses all hanging around nurses station on their phones. The staff that helped us was friendly and good with the baby. Pharmacy took insane amounts of time to get things to ED and discharge was ridiculously long. It took 8 minutes to stitch her. There was a lady from the front desk who advocated for us and really tried to get our papers and antibiotic fast. Just super inefficient systems between departments.

I moved to Chillicothe several months ago, and I have not been able to find a PCP that is an MD or DO. It is ridiculous that an individual is forced to see a CNP or PA because none of the doctors are taking new patients. Adena either needs to hire more doctors, real doctors who have had their requirements met for licensure at the MD or DO level, or make doctors available to more patients. It is also ridiculous that one can't find a doctor these days who doesn't work at least one or two evenings and/or one weekend day a week/month. Yes, our Healthcare system is broken. And don't tell me that CNPs or PAs are just as good, because they're not. I knew a CNP who got her doctorate in nursing completely online. She got her bachelor's doing her in personclinical, but that was it. Her husband (also a nurse) did her work and tests for her all through her CNP training and doctorate while she worked full time.

Had my hysterectomy there this past weds, couldnā€™t wait to leave the next morning because they didnā€™t care about me being in pain, if Iā€™m going to suffer from having my stomach cut open for the 4th time, Iā€™ll suffer in comfort in my home. Most of them expect you to feel better the next day & think that pain management isnā€™t important after having a major abdominal surgery. (One nurse I had in the night was good & helped me out) that was it. Out of all the medical professionals during my stay, One single nurse took care of me properly & had great bedside manners. Another nurse claimed I needed something for anxiety & assumed I was taking medication for it when I was screaming in so much pain. I donā€™t have anxiety & I donā€™t take medication for it. They knew the medications I took when I went into have my surgery. I had been getting myself out of bed each time after my surgery to use the restroom even though I was a ā€œfall riskā€. It was like pulling teeth to even get a stomach pill for the gas in my chest. Itā€™s absolutely insane how they treat people. This wasnā€™t my only bad experience here. I shouldā€™ve known better to have a major surgery at this hospital. Please listen to me when I say go to Columbusā€¦ go anywhere but Adena hospital!!

Damien Benjamin, I only gave a one star because it made me choose. DO NOT have any cancer surgery by Damien Benjamin. My mom was DX with breast cancer in 2020, Dr Benjamin told my mom and myself that a lumpectomy would be preformed, and she would start chemo after. That is not what happened! He butchered my mother! She ended up having 3 lumpectomies and then a partial mastectomy. Now she is having post mastectomy issues that are concerning for a cancer patient, such as lumps, pain and redness near where her breast used to be. I was on the speaker phone with my mom during her check up with Dr Benjamin today and he knew I was. This man spent less than 5 minutes with her and told her itā€™s scar tissue and to get lidocaine patches! I spoke up and asked a few questions and got ā€œI donā€™t knowā€ answers. I had to ask for imaging to be ordered. This doctor couldnā€™t even check my moms chart to see if she had a pet-scan! He has the worst patient care Iā€™ve ever encountered and should be looked into by the the medical board.

A doctor dident even come in, it was only nurses and a nurse practitioner They didnā€™t know what was wrong and couldent give her an answer. Mind u we were there untill 5:30 till 10:30 Awful

I wish I had the ability to give a zero rating. I cannot think of a single reason why anyone would go to this hospital, even in an emergency situation. My last and final visit there was by squad. Once I got to the hospital with extreme abdominal pain, the staff put me in the hallway. It took nearly three hours before I was moved to a room. It was then another three hours and no one came in to help, let alone triage. I walked out barefoot and went north to Berger hospital. Within 15 minutes I was getting treatment at Berger. I hope regulators and the state shut down the Adena network in itā€™s entirety.

I received good care the one time I needed an ENT specialist. However, the cardiology and pulmonary departments and several of the hospitalists are horrible for the most part. I was not given any lung testing when I had a bad reaction to a medication and went to the ER for lung toxicity. One of the idiot ICU doctors lied to me and my wife saying I was having a heart attack, which was completely wrong. I wasn't even supposed to be in ICU. They also tried to blame my symptoms on everything other than the medication reaction and told me I was lying about it. The ICU doctor also told me I had to leave because I ordered food from doordash when they only bring you toddler sized portions. He was extremely unprofessional as were several other doctors at this hospital. The medical director for the kidney dialysis unit also cancelled my dialysis treatment for no reason when I was supposed to have it after having contrast dye for a procedure. The other kidney doctors and the dialysis nurses were good though. They need to learn to treat patients with respect as their customers, not as if they are prisoners. And they need to actually learn something about medicine and how to read blood work properly. Several doctors also attempted to give me medicine that is on my allergy list and I refused. Yet, they did not give me the correct dosages of the medications I take the entire time I was there. I would not go back to this hospital other than to see the ENT doctor. It is no surprise to me that they have made the news and have many lawsuits regarding improper medical care, especially concerning cardiology, as it was obvious to me they have no idea what they are doing. The best thing I did was leave this hospital as they only make things worse and are of little to no help.

Went here for testing and was very happy with most of my nurses and the radiology doctor who consulted with me. Madi the nurse has a very troubling bedside manner that is very unprofessional. She laughs at everything! I didn't even really think of it much because of my situation until my husband brought it up. I have a seriously unstable medical history in my family and had serious concerns and didn't deserve her laughter during this serious matter especially during the consultation with Dr. Borland. I hope someone can advise her on how to be more professional during exams.

Took my dad to the emergency room last night. I was just so pleased how friendly and quickly they took care of my dad. Shout out to his wonderful nurse Jeremy ( not sure of last name but he is from West Virginia šŸ™‚). Tanya

If you need immediate medical care in Ross County, Adena is pretty much the only option you have. Like all large facilities, there are outstanding caregivers, and there are ones that arenā€™t very good. Overall, the facility is clean, well-maintained, and an acceptable place to receive treat.
