👍 Cool place, but trails are unmarked and not kept up too well. I am glad that they turned it into a park for all to explore and learn about. Cool place, but trails are unmarked and not kept up too well. I am glad that they turned it into a park for all to explore and learn about. If you go, take the map that they offer, go on to the trail and get onto the driveway as soon as you can, then go towards the gate that you will see in the distance. There is a train track right there. Go down the driveway until you see a path to your left. You will almost be right by the gate at the train tracks, go to the big and open mowed area and look at the map. You can see it all. The parking lot is nice, they have a picnic area there too. Plan on a good long walk, but if you like this kind Historical place, you will have a good time.

Very nice wooded trail which leads to an open grass trail with a couple hills. Worth the easy climb due to the beautiful view once on plateau where you can see the entire layout of the earthworks boundaries. Do your research on Google so you better understand the layout of the earthworks. National Historic Park Earthworks Parks Hiking Trails

Great place to get your steps in. Apparently, the museum that explains what you're looking at is 6 miles away... There is a big field and staff have done good job of mowing trails through to different parts. You walk through undisturbed natural field with wild flowers. Our dog enjoyed sniffing around and the long walk - take your own bags.

25 Sep 2023 make sure you take the Hopeton Earthworks paper at the trailhead as there were no signs. The front and back handout was marvelously informative, and it was great fun locating the square, large circle, 2 smaller circles and overlook. To have a World Heritage Site to yourself for an afternoon is an unheard of treat. It will soon be shared with others as it should be. To be where indigenous people respected the universe is healing. Enjoy!

Earthworks have been removed but the grass is mowed to outline where they once were and an overlook with a stone henge has been added to view down on them. Beautiful wildflowers and trails throughout the site. Has a nice shaded picnic area at the parking lot.

I didn't have much information before going here. And there is not a lot of information at the site. There is a parking lot and trails. It's not clear from the trail head where in the mounds are. There is a large meadow and the longish trail. I would like to go back after researching the site a little better to know what I'm looking for. It was also very hot and humid that day so we didn't complete the trail through the meadow.

Worthwhile part of the park to stop at. A short ~1 mile (round trip) hike to an overview spot allows you to gaze over earthworks peacefully.

Nice, never been back the path, and still haven't. We went @ night trying to find and record Native American spirits. Decided to turn around due to being in tall grass and darkness. Animals you know. Will be back (in daylight) to explorep more !!
