every time I come here it’s always packed, but very friendly service as always, big portions meals, delicious food, loved the iced mocha.

Real disappointed. I talked this place up to my partner because it used to be amazing and I loved the food here. Came in over the weekend and couldn’t be more disappointed. I unfortunately didn’t get a photos of my food before removing over half of it onto a small plate. My bacon was so burnt you couldn’t even cut it. That burnt black stuff under the bacon is supposed to be potatoes, looks like they scraped the bottom of the deep fryer and put it into my plate. I had to ask for more bread as mine was absolutely saturated and soggy from the tomato juice slapped on my plate. Honestly such a disappointment. The poor girl who was working was just stunned when I asked her for a piece of bread, she didn’t even know what to say. Can’t say I’d ever recommend this place to anyone anymore. Such a disappointment.

Knowledgeable staff who are also extremely friendly & considerate! Helped us customize the veggie works for our friend with celiac disease so she could safely eat!!! My wife really enjoyed the breakfast waffles, and my woofer was delectable!

Went to the famous fat dogs and was very disappointed. Orded the granola and i received soggy museli. And for the fresh fruit, i got a bit of tinned pineapple and mango. Smoothies were really good and my partner enjoyed her meal but if u dont have granola dont say you have it.

Went for brunch the day after Boxing Day. Got seated quickly and food came relatively quickly. Portion sizes were huge, including the kids' meals; great for older kids. A must visit!!

Cool spot with busy lively atmosphere and funky decor. Couple of disappointing aspects on the food: 1) There is no real Gluten Free option or much consideration for other dietary needs. 2) The scrambled eggs were pretty tasteless and wet, with some liquid running from them onto the plate. None of the staff asked me for any feedback about my food as I ate or when finished. Staff also didn't offer alternatives or seem to take action from the feedback about lack of GF options on the menu. As a side note: If you opt not to have the toast you don't get any money off but you do still get the butter.

A tasty lunch in Rotorua - we had the Steak Sandwich, the Tropical Fish Burger and a couple of caramel milkshakes. All delicious and fresh. It was quite busy when we went for lunch - but understandably so. We were lucky and snagged a table with not much waiting and ordered our meals and drinks at the counter. We were informed of a 30-minute wait for food, but I'm pretty sure it was delivered to the table faster than that. The food was good quality, and quite filling (we skipped breakfast this day - and only wanted dinner at around 8:30). Strongly recommend.

The meat is over cooked. Far too dry. And pricey. Not worth it. A 30 dollar burger called “dogs bollox” should not be that dry. And the chicken is soo dry too! Wow. Dry like dog pellets dry. I was hungry and it was hard to swallow. Not impressed and wow waiting time was ages. Must have taken time to dry out the food… sorry for the bad review but what a disappointment. Also table was sticky and gross

Nice little cafe with delicious food. If I had more time I would've definitely come back and tried put their lunch menus and goodies in the cabinet! Will be back next time.

Best coffee in Rotorua. I had the Corned Beef Hash. It was perfectly seasoned, and I liked it better than the usual eggs benedict that you find in most cafes. My wife had the waffles and loved it. Highly recommend having breakfast here.

The restaurant atmosphere and feel was great. Food was okay, Waffles were soggy. Coffee could really use an overhaul - Tasted like instant prison coffee. Not the most kid friendly either but that's not always expected.

What a cool cafe. A vast menu greets you on the blackboard when entering. Thoroughly enjoyed eating The Fat Dog Works. Rather busy, but the service was excellent. The food came out reasonably quick too. Thanks for the meal 😊

Absolutely love this place. Great coffee and food. Suited our group of Mother in law, wife and wife's daughter. I had the "Woofer", pictured, OMG! I could barely walk back to the car. Flavours were awesome. All of us enjoyed our food. Coffee cake in big mugs, great. Very eclectic clientele so great for people watching. Lovely friendly staff even though they were rushed off their feet, they made us feel welcome and that we mattered to them. Will always visit when in Rotorua.

I was so excited for my breakfast and I even wait 40 minutes. My plate looks bad, no much love in it at all. Come on guys! Keep it up! Your are iconic place in Rotorua and people go there excited because probably someone told them about how amazing you are. I know was a busy morning but I still paid full price for my meal.

Woke in Rotorua looking for the best eggs Benny an we found it at the Fat Dog. I had the Woofer breakfast which I couldn't eat on my own even on an empty tummy. My partner had the smoked salmon eggs Benny which he Loved, loved the Hasbrown blocks! service was amazing, atmosphere very pleasing, service was super FAST! It was not even 9am an the fat dog was so alive. WE LOVE THE FAT DOG . well be back tonight when the bar opens 😆 🤣

Cafe style decor. Friendly staff. The chicken sesame salad with cashews had very little flavour. Was disappointing to eat. The chips were delicious. The burger was enjoyed. Would only return for the fries.

Had brunch today, love the place and it's quirky atmosphere. Food was great, my daughter loved her pizza and milkshake. I had the posh porridge, yummy and a huge serving, had to take half as a takeaway. My partner enjoyed his pulled posh mince on toast. Will definitely go back again next time we're in Rotorua.

For a start it serves excellent breakfasts. We had "smashed avocado" on toast which was probably the best I've ever been served. Atmosphere was great with lots to look at even if it was 7am. Staff were great and meals came out promptly. Highly recommend.

Great food. Friendly staff. But pricey but I found it worth it. They do a fab childre's breakfast which my two ate all of. Great vegetarian options. Chilled music perfect to eat to. Will def eat there again.
