stayed two nights in a double studio. it was amazing. the bed was very comfortable and room was very clean.

I stayed in one of the private rooms. As described, the space is very compact. Kitchen facilities were fine and importantly clean. Free parking was available on a first come first served basis. The staff were polite. Internet was free and unlimited. The only downside was the supermarkets are about 10 minutes walk. I would stay again.

One of the nicest budget places I've stayed. The staff are friendly and everything you need is provided. Rooms and bathrooms are small and simple but do the job. The place is generally kept clean, it's right in the middle of town and has a lovely chill vibe. Perfect if you're looking for a cheap place to crash for the night. It's only downfall is poor noise insulation if you're unlucky with your neighbours.

It's an absolute amazing place to be for stay, very clean means amazing for motel types or price!!! Can compete with big brand hotels. Staff is friendly n helpful I mean they not only offered Peter service but heaps of information for further trip. Common kitchen area nice n clean. Just the bed n shower are not big or fit for people above six feet...hence I give 4.5 * out of 5*. Highly recommend to people traveling to stay.

I've gotta say, this hostel is definitely one of the nicer ones I've stayed at. The location is central, which is a big plus, but you might wanna crack a window to keep cool. I actually stayed here twice and both times were great. They only offer private rooms, but the price is still super reasonable compared to other hostels that have shared rooms. It's pretty amazing!

I had a wonderful experience staying at Astray Motel The staff were very welcoming and attentive, and the rooms were recently renovated and very clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable too.

I would recommend not to visit this motel as they do daylight robbery. They stick on to their policy so much even if flights are cancelled or if your met with accident they wouldn’t refund the money for not staying and they keep charging your credit card even after months from their system . I have no idea how many guests have suffered from this. Definitely not a place to stay in Rotorua

Compact room with clean amenities, shower, and all I needed for a comfortable stay. Appreciated being shown to the room. Central to the shopping center, eateries, and reasonably priced. Recommended

Astray Motel is the choice! Look no further than this cozy little gem. The receptionist truly exceeded expectations, offering assistance and recommendations with a smile. The rooms are both spacious and tidy, and the common areas (including the restrooms and kitchen) are impressively clean. Plus, there are complimentary essentials like oil, tea, coffee, bread, sugar, and salt to make your stay even more enjoyable. Although onsite parking is limited, there are plenty of free parking spots nearby. We highly recommend this spot for your next stay in Rotorua!

The Astray Motel is a pretty sweet spot. I gave it five stars 'cause it totally fit the bill for us. The front desk dude was super friendly and welcoming. We've actually stayed here before 'cause it's just a few minutes away from Rotorua Lake. Our room was super clean and the bed was really comfy. Plus, the bedside lamps were bright enough to read by. We didn't hear any road noise since we snagged a room in the back. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a chill and cozy spot.

stayed there second time, still great choice. they had some long term tenants during the covid but now back to normal and renovated everything is new and fresh, lovely staff and great price.

Dirty and worn down, stains on sheets, towels had holes in them. The kitchen was very poorly equipped. Non-guests hung out in the parking lot. Had to ask staff to open the kitchen for us, as our key couldn't open it. In the morning, reception didn't open until 35 minutes after they were supposed to, meaning that we couldn't get in to the kitchen, where we had left our food. The only good things about this place were the location, and the price as it was very cheap.

Absolutely loved our stay at Astray Motel. The room was cozy compacted but got everything I need, incredibly clean and comfortable, making for a relaxing stay. I will come back to stay again.

Great location, comfortable beds good amenities but the showers were a nightmare getting jn and out of and also got covered in bites after second night

Way below expectation. Price not worth even its in cbd. No space in the room. If you are 2 of you, book a room for 4. Black, dirty walls, floor. Some things didn't work. Paper walls, noisy yard. Basic thing missing, like a hanger where you could put your coat. Everything just put together without logic. Very very weird atmosphere. The receptionist is kind though.

Very friendly and helpful front desk young lady, but the room was too dirty! Sheets were cleaned but stained. Sometimes noisy. Dirtiest place I have ever stayed. WiFi problematic. Stay somewhere else or maximum 1 night. But nearby Ronnie's is a great and cheap place to eat!

Very basic, as should be expected for the price you are paying. It is an older building and not the most glamorous, but it was exactly what I wanted. A cheap private single room. I found it to be very clean considering the age of the building. I did not see any mould at all, im unsure where the previous comments think they saw mould? The night before I had stayed at Base Backpackers and the shower was covered in mould. Anyway I think the people leaving negative reviews need to lower their expectations when they book the cheapest room (by far) in the city. A $35 room is going to offer a lot less then the average $60 room in Rotorua. The lady at reception, I believe the manger was very lovely.

Rooms clean enough, but bathroom could have used a touch up. Very centrally located, excellent positioning. Walls a little flimsy so can hear others during the night, milk was frozen solid in the fridge. Reception staff polite and attentive. Overall exactly what was expected and would stay there again.

Not good at all even though its cheap. Not for families or travelers, reminds me of a ghetto, specially the residents. Most people that stay at the motel live there permanently. Room is very tiny and residents look very dodgy, they are loud late at night and very early in the morning. Place smells like cleaning product because of the very strong cigarette smell and smoking around. Also, they do not mention until what time is the check in available, I tried to contact them but is very hard to contact them, they do not pick up the phone or answer the email. Not worth the cheap price.

Omg I wasn’t expecting much but ..don’t stay here it’s dirty and the bunks feel like they where going to collapse and broken window. Also don’t want to use the shower as looks grotty. Unsure how it’s still allowed to be open.
