It's a well maintained hostel. All facilities available. The kitchen is very clean and well maintained. Free onsite parking 🅿️ available. Toilets 🚻 and washroom facilities are also well maintained. Located very close to the town center and tourist attractions but not too crowded. There is a golf course⛳🏌️ nearby. There is a pool table as well available in the hostel if you would like to spend some time with others in the night. I normally book this hostel if I'm backpacking. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms a reasonably spacious. The rooms have heating facilities. Price is very reasonable and it has everything you need for a short stay.

Everything was basic, but very clean. The bed was comfortable, water was hot, laundry worked well (only takes credit card), and the kitchen area was quite large. There are two dedicated areas for parking your car, though you'll need to get a card from the front desk to place in your windshield. Great shops and cafes within walking distance.

Clean and spacious rooms, including large lockers with plugs and USB sockets. Plenty of showers and toilets which were also very clean. We most enjoyed the very big and well-equipped kitchen/dining/lounge area, where we made some oven pizzas and ate them out on the nice terrace. The only downside was that inside it was really hot, but the staff bring round fans to your room if you ask them at the front desk! It was pretty quiet when we stayed in January, and quite a lot of the other guests seemed to be a bit older than at other hostels.

Could not recommend this hostel more. The current renovation works have created clean and modern dorms, bathrooms and communal spaces (this was a wonderful surprise given the mostly old photos online). All beds in our dorm had privacy curtains, power sockets, shelving and reading lights, and bunks were very sturdy so your bunkmate was not disturbed by creaking etc when getting in/out of bed. Plenty of storage in lockers under bed and within the room. Great water pressure in showers and excellent cooking facilities. Also a perfect location next to FREE thermal pools walk in Rotorua.

Great location. Just reopened so quite quiet, not the best atmosphere for solo travellers, but clean and spacious in common areas. Dorms are quite small but functional with lockers. I was with friends so fine that is was quiet but wouldn't have been great as solo traveller. Manager was super lovely

Very good accommodation! Friendly and helpful staff. Clean kitchen and bathrooms. Age of travelers is between 18 and 70. I shared a 4 person dorm with 3 retirees.

This is a great place to stay. The staff are friendly. The rooms are comfortable. The kitchen is huge with a good common area. This is the place I usually go to in if I plan to stay for a couple of days in rotorua. Its very sad that it would be closing soon.

very small room. no fridge. loud. OK for backpacking tourists. If you have a suitcase with you, you better look for something else. Not everything is cost-effective.

Pros: Tidy common area and kitchen, very secure, parking, good location, quiet, hair dryers, no frills, spacious, kitchen amenities, not a party hostel Cons: luke warm/cold showers, sheets had hair and dirt on arrival, woke up with a few bites, no fan in hot room, unwelcoming awkward bright lounge area (common areas have a doctors waiting room vibe)

Large, clean and up to date Hostel. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days stay. Walking distance to town and across the road from Kuirau Park. Kitchen was superb and super clean and up to date. Thanks again for the experience

I am absolutely appalled by the new owners behaviour! I parked behind the building as I had a dentist appointment next door. I assumed it had closed down and their are no signs saying it is private, no parking or even tow signs. The new owner of this business doesn’t treat the locals very kindly! He spoke very abruptly and rude to the receptionist about people parking their. Then I walked over to move my vehicle and he was arrogant, rude and spoke very disgusting to me! Maybe you should learn some people skills and learn how to treat human beings with a-bit of respect and decency! You could of spoken politely! Instead you boasted about being rich and continued to do a stand over on me! Your nasty attitude will take you far in life👍👍 Think you need to do some reflection and change your attitude! Maybe educate your self on how to treat people!

A bit distance to isite. But it’s one of the best hostel I’ve stayed in NZ! Staffs are friendly and useful. Gave me temporary card to use toilet and kitchen before check in time. The building is a bit old but still very tidy and clean. Would love to come back again to see the sweet cat staff❤️

Heated rooms. Curtains needed to be rehung. We had a small ensuite, an option. Booked thru Grabone. Dble kitchen is great, except for huge extractor fan kicking in, making us all jump. Oops, power in rooms, hiding behind curtain so...5 stars!

I stayed in a private single room. The room was plain but comfortable. The overall atmosphere in the shared areas wasn't lively, most people were doing their own thing. Reception was friendly and helpful with recommendations. Location was good, close to downtown Rotorua (not much to do there anyways), free parking on site.

Lovely hostel to stay in, rooms basic but contain what you need. Kitchen clean and well stocked, good system for washing up/easy to find items. Rooms have thin walls but they do provide ear plugs and generally a quiet hostel so no issues. Always love staying at a YHA

Fantastic facility! Went as a school group for a trip and it was perfect for purpose. For a backpackers is was very clean, easy to use and very secure. The key cards provided a very secure and safe feel, being able to come and go as we needed to over the duration of our stay. Their transparency as well surrounding their environmental efforts in using the natural gases for energy and their conservation efforts definitely went a long way. The shared bathrooms were very clean and provided plenty of facilities including hair dryers etc. The shared kitchen was very well kitted out, with cubbies to keep your food safe and secure and a shared fridge. They had plenty of space and all the rooms were very fit for purpose, not too small but providing plenty of space for those staying there. They provided a lot of material in the foyer as well about activities in the area to keep you busy. Overall a great place to stay, a head above the rest for backpackers.
