They should seriously just starting telling new members the added perks of having a membership. Being ROBBED in the locker is also included. Employees will cut your lock on your locker and steal all of your stuff. DO NOT GIVE This place anymore of your money. The police even started they have 3 police reports just this last week for this place. And all the gym can do is say, well you did sign a waiver. WORST management I have ever seen. They do not care about you. They just want your money and once they have that, they will steal all of your stuff. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS GYM.

I have been using this gym since 2017. It used to be an L.A fitness (way better maintained back then). Not anymore! Almost half of the machines are either not working or “scheduled for maintenance”. Attached picture, is their idea of a a functioning leg extension machine?!! So I am supposed to sit on a 45 plate? How come this gym passed the safety inspections?!! I’ll avoid this gym since I respect my well-being and I don’t want to get injured by malfunctioning machines.

LA has no consideration for anything but money. COVID cleaning, non-existent, no racquetball even though the state has opened up. No answers on why, oh COVID is the reason, even though there are groups of members grouped without masks, none of them cleaning equipment, no LA employees breaking them up, or even watching. Countless complaints of corporate neglect, high costs for zero amenities. JOIN AT YOUR OWN RISK!

The gym has very clean locker rooms and they have a sauna, pool and also offer daycare for smoll children. The weights are very well kept and there are many to choose from.

Tried cancelling my personal training, and already gave them $300. They told me it would be hour sessions, ended up being 25 minutes. Then they told me it was $500 to cancel. That's $800 for one 25 minute training session I had. I had many phone calls and even went in, and was told told there was nothing they could do. All they did was give me another phone number to call, and guess who never answered? Still stuck ! Do not reccomend, super sketchy. Also the workers don't look like they lift

This location is run down. New edit: 12/20: nothing has changed Post Covid. The place is still run down and empty. Just this week, Dec 10, 2020, I went into the free weight area and 4 of 6 benches were without bars! Decline, both incline and 1 of the 3 flat benches were unusable because there are not enough Olympic bars. Unbelievable, but expected in this location. They just don't care. And I see the "sales" guy walking a couple around like " just ignore the broken and missing equipment, it is a great gym to join. EDIT: about 6 months ago, I complained to "Ed" the regional director for this area about the lack of straight Olympic bars in the free weight area. To his credit, he ordered three on the spot, unfortunately, they needed about 7 or 8. Now, in the free weight area people will wait for or move the "straight" Olympic bars rather than use the bent ones that are still there. The management at this location sees this happening, sees the benches without Olympic bars on them and just doesn't care. My original review was three years ago. Nothing has changed, LA Fitness is run at the minimum standards and that's OK with the people managing it. The free-weights are always all over the gym, like in the studios, around the machines etc. There are always machines or equipment with "scheduled for maintenance" stickers on them but they are there for many days or more. The cable machine back with the free-weights has different slides on it that don't allow it to line up and most if not all of the Olympic bars are bent. There is a feeling of disrepair to the place that seems like the workers and management just don't care. Recently, they made part of they gym much nicer than the rest but blocked it off for "personal trainers" only. Now, they hang signs in the locker room to say watch out for your stuff because things are being stolen. Really, considering the care that goes into this place by the staff, it is no wonder that patrons are just as inconsiderate although that is probably more to blame on the location. I've had 3 situations in the locker room where "attitude" was a little over the edge. It is obvious that Round Lake Beach is not the best part of town. Perhaps it was at some time but it has been degraded to become almost a 3rd world country and LA Fitness reflects the neighborhood. Waukegan is much nicer, both in location, care for the facility, friendly staff and people who workout there.

This is a rebranded LA Fitness designed to compete with Planet Fitness and other low-cost gyms of that type. As this location was/is a LA Fitness location, much of the facility remains the same. However, there is a new matted workout area that is absolutely wonderful. Besides the new workout area, there appears to be more availability of trainers. Overall, I’d say this facility has improved since becoming an Esporta.

Do not sign up with this gym!!! They will keep charging you and call you constantly to collect dues AFTER YOU CANCEL. I've canceled my membership via certified mail as per contract instructions. They still charged me over a month later. Now the credit card company is fighting with them to return that payment. 3 months later im getting call after call after call asking me for money. Each time i tell them I've canceled months ago!! They say they will note that in the account and stop calling Every, time, they, call!!! I will be reporting this fraudulent harassment.

Been a member here for quite some time and this gym is simply disappointing. People do whatever they please- take barbells/cable accessories and move them throughout the gym without putting them back, do not re-rack weights nor do the staff. Machines are quite often out of service and simply out dated. the gym and equipment is just filthy and you can tell it goes days without being cleaned. Gym staff do not enforce social distance or seemingly clean equipment- very sad considering the pandemic right now.

The gym is usually overcrowded, the machines are always taken and the front desk staff never greet anyone walking in the doors. We have used the Kids Klub a couple times and we’re not impressed, the staff are friendly but the room is often overfilled with kids of all ages. My son cries when being dropped off and when picked up he is usually off to the side or left with his shoe(s) off and not being watched. The few times I visited the front desk for help with other things I was told they couldn’t help because a manager was not present. I called to cancel my membership and the guy working the front desk told me I’d need to come in to cancel, I went in a few minutes after and I wasn’t able to cancel because the manager wasn’t on duty yet. I explained to the front desk that I needed it cancelled so i wouldn’t be charged, he said I wouldn’t be charged because he would make sure it was cancelled. The staff working the desk told me they would leave a note for someone to cancel my membership that day. I called them back around 12:30pm and was advised by another employee that the manager was out all week and no one there would be able to cancel my membership. I hung up and called another Esporta in the area and told them what happened. They cancelled my membership over the phone with me. The next day I wake up to 2 charges on my account. UNREAL! cancelling was the hardest thing to accomplish. I will not be visiting this gym anymore! Service sucks!

I came here to use some old training sessions I had with LA Fitness and they were so kind to help me out right away. Edward, the training manager was kind to train me the very next day and he killed my leg workout! Was sweating within the first 15 minutes. The experience was great!

NO MASKS. Quite a few people DO NOT WEAR MASKS. The staff does nothing about it! The facility is nice. There are a few downside to this gym. First it does not open till 8AM. Seriously? 95% Of the people working out spending way too much time texting a between their sets meaning you have to wait so long to use a machine because these people text more than workout. The other issues are most of the guys there do not take their weights off the machines when they are done. So for the female members this means you will be spending a lot of time removing 45 Lb plates off the machines before using. The other is you get these tools that take up 3 or 4 machines at a time and when you attempt to use one of them because the guy is all the way on the 1st of the 4 and it will be 15 minutes before gets to it you get slack from them saying that they're using the machine or when they're not really using the machine and then they go back to texting in between sets. Management or the inside sales person that got you to commit to purchase a membership doesn't do anything about this. So think twice joining here.

Great Gym, the amount of theft reported from people breaking into lockers is concerning. Pool is hit and miss, closed often for maintenance. Freeweights is a no go as they get hoged, and/or many are missing. Usually have to use the machines. Still great place for a workout.

It’s unfortunate that I have to write a review such as this, but Exporta leaves me no choice. I had signed up for a six-month training session and ended up getting extra charges (that I did not approve). Not to mention trying many times to make appointments only to be told that they were understaffed and that I had to keep trying on the app. When I was able to make an appointment, it was given to someone else. Their customer service would not refund me the additional charges and were totally uncaring on anything I needed help with. Totally disappointed with this company.

I've been disappointed since joining.. for the amount of money I'm paying monthly, too many machines are broken, lack of barbels, the incline bench presses are uncomfortable for both dumbbells and barbells seats. Theyre too high, can't even adjust the seats. Could use more equipments for the cable machines, more crossover handles, triceps extensions equipment lats pulldown bar for back.... I really hope they renovate this gym.

Today my lock went missing from my locker. Thankfully nothing was left in it worth stealing. The gym is overcrowded in my opinion, probably because of the low rate they offer. Not the most pleasant experience

From getting yelled at for being 2 minutes over closing time while in the locker room getting dressed. Getting calls from the manager early in the morning without my consent, the locker rooms smelling like old moldy carpet and the employees including the manager Mike not caring about their members anymore and seems like they just care about their pay check isn't what LA fitness was about when I used to go back in the day. And to spend all the money I do there and not be able to bring a friend iis absurd! Definitely not what LA Plant used to stand for now it's just employees that care about their check not the members that have them keep a job there.

Probably 80% of machines work at any point, and the pool and volleyball court are open about the same percent. Managers lock doors 30 minutes before posted hours because "We need to clean the place." I asked why I couldn't enter during open hours and they told me "You broke the rules by coming late" but could not show me the rules. I read my entire contract and this was nowhere in it.

Me and my husband have been coming here for over a year now and our experience here has been amazing. It has all new treadmills and has a variety of machines to work each muscle group. And after a work out it's always nice to sit in the hot tub/sauna. They also have an awesome racquet ball court! The staff is friendly and the Kids Klub is awesome for the children! And the price is definitely worth it cause most gyms just have treadmills and a couple machines. This place has it all.. and more! I hope to continue my membership here as long as I'm alive. I recommend this gym to anyone who is looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle😁

For a person who just started going to the gym, this gym is just awesome. Definitely would choose this place over others in Round Lake, due to the fact that it’s not overly crowded and people aren’t standing around watching you workout. They have great equipment and very nice staff. Love that this location is 24 hours as well!

Signed up for a membership 2 weeks ago while dealing with a severe sinus infection with the intention of using the facility one that cleared up. Was told I would be contacted about how to access the gym (apparently its through an app on your phone now)... Never received the instructions. I was however contacted in several different ways about signing up for personal training.. to which I responded that I wasn't interested, but I am still waiting for info on accessing the gym so when I recover I can start using it... no one wants to answer that question or even give a response for that matter... being super annoyed I decided to cancel and start searching for a different gym. The corporate guy was kind enough to waive the cancellation fee (hence the 2 star).. yet said nothing can be done about the money I already paid (first and last months dues)... EVEN THOUGH I NEVER SET FOOT IN THE BUILDING. I understand its a contract, but if my customers never use my service. I don't charge them. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm sure my business won't be missed by the big chain, but hopefully this review enlightens future members as to the "we just want your money" vibe and poor customer service LA fitness is about.

If I could give -100 I would. The gym is average nothing special, fit basic needs, the reason of my review is the game they play when you try to cancel the membership. They tell you need to print the cancellation form and send it to corporate via mail and IS NOT True. Corporate told me they have to cancel on site. They made me waste one month and charged me that extra month telling me lies. Your subscription must be canceled at the location

Probably 80% of the treadmills stutter nearly causing me to fall several times, machines are broken often and rarely fixed, an incline bench was broken for over 3 months(during my entire membership) many machines are poor quality. The showers are awful, I frequently find myself scavenging the entire gym for cable attachments that i often don’t find as they dont have a designated area for them the free weight area is always unorganized, the scale in the locker room is inaccurate ive had days where i was 20lbs less than the day before, i also feel as if many of the weights are lighter than they should be due to them deteriorating, and its not like this gym should be low on funds for improvement considering its always overpopulated. Save your money and time this gym will disappoint you

If you have babies and toddlers, I wouldn’t recommend using the Round Lake Beach Kids Klub. The employee in the evening time does not watch the kids. She walks out of the room for long periods of time, to chat with people by the front desk. I was wrongfully terminated over having toddler toys and water cups for the kids, which I already had previous management permission, to have them there. After I was gone, they threw out all of the toddler toys and water cups, leaving the kids very sad, with nothing to play with. This place has no respect for their employees. I had promoted LA fitness as positive, for a long time, helping them get business. Now I’m here to comment the truth, that people will turn your back on you, no matter how good you have been to them. The director even threatened and blackmailed me, into saying I couldn’t tell people at the gym why I was terminated, if I wanted to keep a gym membership there. She wanted to cover up the truth. It doesn’t matter if my lips are sealed. The parents already have realized what’s going on, without me having to say anything. I have heard of numerous complaints from parents about their kids not being watched. Also, a one year old almost chocked on a marker cap. But the Kids Klub employee wasn’t terminated, because she’s friends with the hiring manager. The director also tried to stop my unemployment from going through. I won the case in court, as she was found to have no evidence, for reasons to terminate me. I’m tired of being kicked around for all of my hard work. That’s why I’m writing the truth on here.

It's basically Lifetime fitness that you only pay $20 for. You really feel the $20 cheapness when you get into the locker room. It smelt like a dirty diaper/laundry hamper and the showers were disgusting as well. My girlfriend took me as a guest and I'd rather pay more and go to the lifetime fitness that's in Vernon hills. At least they upkeep their utilities. Also, the sauna was broken, hot tub jets weren't working. Hard pass on this place.

LA Fitness in Round Lake Beach IL is dishonest in their membership billing. Because they make if hard to cancel your membership (I tried once before but ran out of time and forgot to get back to it) when my credit card that they had on file expired on 6/19 I did not update my card info. I thought this would stop my membership like it did at 4 or 5 other places I chose not to update the card info at. Somehow on their own they got my updated card information and continued charging my account and never sent a notice either via email or snail mail. I went there today to cancel and I have two options 1. Snail mail a form to their corporate office which will take 3 or 4 days plus their processing time or 2. Come in M-F between 8-4 and speak to the sales mgr. HOw much do you want to bet when I go in on Monday I will have more hoops to jump through. Almost all the bad reviews I see here and on FaceBook are due to issues people have trying to cancel memberships.

Before getting a membership, get a free pass to go check it out yourself. Most of the machines are broken, the bench presses suck, not enough barbells, not enough equipment for the cable machines, smelly bathroom, and they let too many high schoolers in there, place becomes crowded with them around 4pm.. Just waiting for Crunch Fitness down the road to finish their renovation and im out.

Worst place, I had my membership with LA fitness for many years and today I'm cancelling my subscription, the manager at the round lake was very disrespectful to me, and neither LA fitness or eSporta Did anything about it, i called corporate office to let them know and the district manager was supposed to called me and nothing and after 2 weeks of the store manager been disrespectful to me , my wife and I decided to cancelled our subscription . I have been a member at La Fitness in the past and I decided to return in November of 2020. I have never been more embarrassed to be part of a gym. They have equipment down for repair on a weekly basis and it takes months and months of time to get these fixed. Their water filter is showing the red color and refuse to change it. By far the worst managed gym I have ever been to. No one reracks their weights and leave dumbbells all over the place.

Started going here last week. I had a work out session with Nevaeh for joining and I had such a great experience. She was very positive and encouraging. Got a 3 day pass, and I’m glad I did so I could preview how disgusting the place is. Smells really bad. Machines are broken. Some of the employees were nice, but others were super passive aggressive. I wouldn’t pay $40 for it. $10 max.

Used to be my home gym. But over the last 6 months it has gone down hill. I’ve talked with managers on different occasions and different shifts that the treadmills are basically useless because all the belts slip when trying to run. Men’s changing room has a permanent musky smell. Half of the cable machine attachments are missing and I had to resort to buying my own and bringing them with. Changed to another location that’s 10x cleaner, machines and weights and upkept and cleaned anytime of the day.

Great gym but they need to expand the building or stop accepting new memberships. The gym is absolutely packed after 5 pm. No dumbbells available under 40 lbs, all machines are being used, and all areas are full. Would be great if they had more squat racks too. I like the amenities (sauna, pool, classes, etc) and the price is reasonable. They really need a bigger building though.

Equipment is old and poorly maintained. Management is rude, unprofessional, and interrupts your workouts to publicly reprimand you for breaking rules that they make on the spot. Love that u don’t have to sit around and wait for a machine to be free! The gyms pretty much always empty and I go at various times

Dirty. Moldy. Not kept up. Machines don't work. Staff is sub-par. Pool is always occupied by them leasing a swim school.

I tried calling 3 times to talk about signing up for a membership as I am looking for a gym to start working out I don’t understand how they can’t pick up a phone? I guess it’s time for some new employees....

Too many machines have broken heart rate monitors. Very annoyed to get a elliptical and start but it never give heart rate

Nice gym but they can stand to update some equipment and fix broken machines faster...an assisted squat machine would be great...a lot of people would like that

Equipment has out of order signs for sometimes weeks.... poor cleaning skills, reloading paper towels etc this location needs attention and better management

I think the equipment is getting really old!

Fairly large facility. There's room for improvement in keeping locker rooms clean. Today the trash was overflowing the garbage can and flowing across the floor.

This gym has a great environment and amazing staff that keep the place clean. The owner is very nice, and you can tell that the gym is looked after very well and cared about.

The worst gym i've ever seen. Swim at your own risk, they do not follow pool cleaning procedures at all. This is a health hazard waiting to happen.
