👍👍 Went in not knowing what to expect and was delighted. The food is great. Roman style pizza was charred perfectly with a generous amount of toppings. Pasta portion was huge - enough for two or three. Carpaccio was lovely too. Even the chocolate cake was very good. The service was incredibly friendly... It's really hard finding a truly good Italian restaurant in Michigan. Having grown up in NY and having gone to Italy, my standards are really high. But this is it. This is the spot to go to. This place was excellent on a whole different level and the service you get for the prices was amazing. The pasta and bread are all made fresh at Pastaio. You can taste all the flavors as they work together even in their Bolognese sauce and you can tell that they spent hours perfecting it. The meatballs melted in your mouth. I would totally return here!

I have tried their Lasagna, Ravioli and Spaghetti Carbonara. The breads they serve with garlic oil is really good, lasagna was juicy and very flavorful, Ravioli stuffing with Ricotta cheese was really good but the ravioli outer layer was not that good and it was bit hard. Spaghetti carbonara was very bland. I tried Moscato which was amazing, the taste was more of sweet side with floral notes in it. I enjoyed drinking it. Services and presentation was great.

Their tagline of EAT PASTA RUN FASTA is true. My husband and I will be running back here. We ate here on New Years Eve with another couple who has frequented Pastaio. We were greeted promptly and genuinely upon our arrival. Our reservation time was 7pm. Although our table wasn’t ready just quite yet, we were happily served at the bar to begin our night with a cocktail. The service throughout dinner was sensational. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable on the menu and pairings. The fried burrata appetizer came with two large burratas which were the perfect size for two people to split. I enjoyed the pappardelle with pesto and blackened chicken for my main course. My husband was awed at the lasagna. Portions are rather large so be ready to ask for a doggy-bag! HUGE plus! Bring your appetite! Their drink menu is quite unique and I do appreciate the quirky nature to their drink names. I’ll let you explore those for yourself! It’s worth it. We look forward to dining here again soon.

Lobster Langusto special was good, not sure if $50 good though. Bread was great. Be warned: They charge something around 4% extra for using a credit card. Music is loud and makes conversation challenging.

The food was great. I had a great sangria. Scallops were awesome (and I really don't even like scallops). But the thing that really took it over the top was the service. Andy made the first time experience GREAT. He was attentive without being overwhelming. He warned about how good the bread was, and warned not to get full on it before the food was served. (I definitely would have because the bread was crazy good). Ask to be seated in Andy's section.

Amazing Italian Food Experience. Would come back for sure. Place is super nice and the quality of the food is outstanding. Prices are definitely worth it. Perfect for a night out with the boys, or a date. Even with the family the vibe is grest. Totally recomended.

This was my first time here, and I will *absolutely* be back. First and foremost I want to acknowledge that while the food was good (very good... like very few faults good). One of the main reasons our experience was so great was because of the service. Jade is extremely talented in hospitality. They were incredibly friendly, kind, and there was never a point where we needed for anything because they anticipated every aspect. Drinks were always full, features were explained fabulously, they had answers for every question, were considerate in accommodating and re-explaining items when it was a tiny bit too loud from the night time evolution of the restaurant (No one's fault, music was just a little bit loud, but who is really trying to eat dinner at/after 9pm). The table never had an empty dish on it for more than a few seconds, and the people running food, were equally friendly. Honestly, truly, Jade is the primary reason we will ultimately be coming back, again and again. It was a masterclass in casual dining service, and truly a pleasure. Now, to the food/drinks. I do not want to be overly critical, because honestly, everything was really good. First, we all started with the sangria. Oh my goodness, what a way to open the evening. The table bread offering is drizzled in oil and parmesan, at room temperature, which was just good, my friends were huge fans. For an appetizer, we had the fried burrata... if you're not familiar with burrata, please get familiar. The mozzarella had the perfect amount of moisture, the inner stracciatella was very beautifully creamy, and the fried exterior was seasoned well. It was served in a red sauce, which was a great compliment. To low key disrespect it, think like... the adult mozzarella stick-marinara combo of your dreams. Salad was next, a flawlessly dressed kale ceasar. Literally, no notes. It didnt have any wild frills (aside from the kale; ooh crazy) but it didn't need anything excessively innovative because it was just done right, and I would absolutely eat it again. Now to the entrée. I had the absolute pleasure of getting the Langusto. This was a feature, which could/should become a signature dish for the restaurant. The assortment of seafood, prominently featuring lobster tail, scallop, tiger shrimp is a melody of seafood that if you have the option to try. Please do. My only criticism, is the lobster was the tiniest bit overcooked. It was served with hot pappardelle pasta in this beautifully simple blush sauce, with tomatoes and spinach. One thing all of us had mentioned ahead of ordering was that we wanted to try the pasta, as its made on-site, and if your restaurant is named pasta maker, the pasta should be spectacular... and that pappardelle was absolutely, unmatched in it's perfection. Somewhere, in the Italian countryside, a Nonna is crying a single proud tear. It was just so good! Lastly, somehow, we managed to save a little room for dessert. The options are what you would expect from an Italian restaurant, tiramisu, cannoli, etc... I had the cannoli cake, alongside a cappuccino made by the tremendous Jade, which was the perfect end to a great meal. This restaurant should be very proud. From the moment we walked in, the ambience was alive and thriving (tiny bit loud). The hostess was friendly, and effective, our table was a perfect size, and didn't feel too close to other diners. All wait staff were wonderful, food came out hot and in good time, the bar was quick with drinks... it was the most satisfied I've been at a restaurant in a very long time. If you got this far in the review... very simply... You HAVE to eat here.

First visit and had a fantastic experience. Food is yummy (Bolognese sauce and Sunday sauce), and 0014 was a great take on a whiskey sour. Service was attentive and very friendly. Atmosphere was cute.

Everything tasted very good. Food and spirits - cocktails, wine and espresso (the last but not the least). We had carpaccio, mussels in white wine and a “special” - seafood pasta. The service was attentive and friendly. A proper Italian restaurant.

Where is the happiest place on earth, no it's not Disneyland, it's Pastaio in Royal Oak. That is the feeling we get when we interact with the staff. There is magic in the air, I don't know how management has gathered the finest employees in one location, but they did and that is what makes it a joy to have dinner here. Yesterday we came to celebrate two birthdays with 6 people. We ordered the lasagna as usual that they upgraded recently WOW it is the best we have ever had and I'm Italian. All of our guests loved the entire evening and fantastic service. One very fussy person ordered the seafood special and loved it. Please order dessert here all made on site even the whipped cream. The Manager Ryan is always over looking everything going on. I even had the pleasure of meeting the owner. This is not a large chain restaurant that does not care about anything but money. Pastaio cares about its customers and staff, and it shows.

Good food. Good service. Prices are a little high in my opinion. Italian restaurants are common so they need to be exceptional to stick out. Pastaio seems to be newer and still needs to grow up some. Once they work out the rough edges, it may be with it.
