I visited on a Monday and was fairly busy. The gardens and grounds are fantastic. The castle is fairly small but neat and well kept. There are a couple places to eat and ice cream places. They sell a variety of rose bush and several other plants. It is a great place to visit.

I absolutely love this place. It takes me back to my childhood of visiting historical English landmarks including castles, mansions and gardens with my grandparents. This nostalgic walk back in time was magical. We had a one night stay in the Astor Wing which undoubtedly had the most comfortable bed of our holiday. Feeding the ducks was also a highlight with bags of feed available for 50p. The ducks loved it nearly as much as the family!

A great day out with a lot to offer. If you like Tudor history you can see plenty in the Castle, but for me, the gardens were the highlight. Huge and mature, the main gardens are impressive. The Italian Gardens were spectacular and worth the trip to me. Columns, water, statues, tulips. Dramatic and beautiful. We did not see everything and shall probably return to see more.

We had no idea how much time we would need to see and experience all. Which means, we have to come back for sure. This place is amazing. And so many activities going on. We did only book the gardens, but with watching the jousting, the weaponry demonstration, the battle of the knights and visiting the Italian garden and lake, time was running away from us. Great day out. Most people bring there own picnic as there is ample space to rest on the various lawns throughout the park. Definitely a place for a family. Kids will be entertained, as there is so much going on for kids of all ages. We loved it. Next time we will be visiting, we will come much earlier and leave time for a visit of the castle as well. There is lots of parking space available for free and wheelchair accessible as well.

Beautiful place. We stayed in the castle B&B and was able to wander around the garden before it was open to the public. Great place to spend the day with kids. The kids audio guide in the castle is great fun. It kept us entertained for nearly 2 hours.

Lovely place buzzing of joy and wondercolours of autumn as we visited on an October Sunday. Everything for everyone- military museum at entrance, history castle with lots of information, great Halloween decor, fair selection of snack and cold or warm drinks to buy, nice souvenir and gardening shop, amazing gardens and maze. Highly recommended either for family, friends, romantic or just for a day out !!! Hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.

It was a wonderful day at Hever Castle! Worth visiting. All the staffs were friendly and helpful! The only downside if you don’t have a car, no taxi nor bus from Hever Station. If you love walking, there’s an adventure footpath along the farm, which you will walk pass lovely Horses and flocks of sheep. Otherwise, whole experience was great!

We loved it. What a wonderful place to visit. The history of the Boleyn family and its relationship with Henry VIII is prominent on display. The grounds are spectacular and the craftsmanship in the castle is amazing. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend the trip.

I visited the gardens with my elderly parents on New Year’s Eve and was pleased and impressed with the arrangements, professionalism and helpfulness of the staff. My parents really enjoyed the experience again and even though it was pretty cold the whole day was very memorable. I unfortunately arrived a little late having hit some black ice and skidding into a bank but the staff were helpful and concerned and made the whole experience less of an issue. I would recommend the grounds and castle to any interested party. If you do enjoy it then you should definitely upgrade to an annual pass as you will always love going back repeatedly, on top of which, the staff, both grounds and hospitality, are amazing.

Hever Castle is one of our favourites. The gardens are very well tended and the walk around the lake is great with a waterfall at one end which is really worth the walk. The ice creams are very tasty. Food is good although the wait is sometimes a bit longer than I would like. One thing I would like to see is a dedicated lane for pre-purchased tickets.

What a lovely day out. We'd been before twice, but not been for a good few years. The sun was out and the flowers in bloom. There was a little cold wind but we found a sheltered spot for our picnic. There was a little queue for the castle but definitely worth the wait. There is an audio tour while in the castle, very informative. Both the water and hedge mazes are great fun. The gardens are amazing and must take ages to tend. The lake was lovely but the cold wind blew in from there. There were plenty of food vans around and a couple of restaurants but we did not buy coffee in the pavilion as there was over a 30min wait to get coffee, they need to sort this out as that is not acceptable. Overall excellent day out that I would recommend

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Hever Castle yesterday. The history of the house is very interesting. The gardens are really beautiful. There's a lot for kids to do. The water maze,in particular, was a big hit with the youngsters. Well worth a visit, go there if you can.

We have been here 3 times and it looks magnificent in all the seasons. The lake is a beautiful blue and you can go boating in it. The gardens are beautifully maintained. They now have an adventure park for children with a zip line and a multitude of activities. A must visit any time of the year

I went in the middle of September, and oh my gosh everything was so lovely. The walk from the train station to the castle, seeing some English countywide, was delightful for a foreigner. The castle really is picture perfect , the grounds were perfectly manicured and everything was lovely to look at. There was a lot more to the castle and gardens than what I was expecting, which was a nice surprise. While inside the castle you have the option for an audio guide that is included in the ticket purchase. The staff was very pleasant and genuinely kind. Very interesting place with lots to do. Probably the best castle/ historic home Ive ever been to! I hope to go back someday

Visited a couple of weeks ago, so worth the visit of the garden and castle. Well kept and interesting audio guide, plus kiddies playground was superb. Archery was fun, payable separately in cash. A couple of places to eat and have coffee. Shop was well stock too. Seen a wedding held there and bride photos taken in front of the castle

Had an amazing day at Hever Castle. The staff were incredible. I have bipolar and am currently very high. I talk to everybody and cannot control what I do at times. The boat staff in particular were excellent. The driver of The Lady Astor let me wear his hat and drive the boat. Cannot praise them enough. All your staff were very helpful and very cheerful. The Castle is fascinating and the gardens stunning. It was very hot today but your staff managed to stay cheerful. Well done on an excellent visitor attraction.

The most beautiful gardens. The Castle is dripping in history, you leave with a deeper interest in the Tudor times. But the gardens are something else. Yes I had lovely weather to enjoy them but even without full bloom, they are a joy to stroll around. Also enjoyed the miniature houses exhibition.

What an amazing day we had!! Steeped in local history! We got the family ticket which allowed us in to the gardens and around the castle which a has an excellent audio tour to accompany it! Parking is free! You can take a picnic or buy from the many food stalls available! Dogs are allowed on leads and there is a huge adventure playground for the kids! We drove from West London which took around 60 mins on a bank holiday. I would highly recommend!

Lovely day out with plenty to do. Good parking within walking distance. Entry process smooth. Beautiful gardens, roses, lake. Historic tour of House recommended and the audio guide added to the experience. Food outlets are good. Small museum to the Kent soldiers. Children's play area. Boating Lake. Recommended as a lovely day out with something for everyone.

Amazing historical attraction. Worth the journey and entry. Beautiful gardens to wander and enjoy, must for anyone who likes flowers, water and sculpture. Definite to go into castle as the historic information is delivered in an easily accessible way. Can bring a picnic/packed lunch, or lovely lunch options at the restaurant.

Amazing day out with the family, especially good for a picnic with plenty of grass to sit on and picnic benches around. The grounds are immaculate kept and extremely impressive. Hedge maze, lake and water maze all great. Good coffee and amazing ice cream with a couple of street food carts. Buy tickets in advance to save around £2 each on the gate price of £19

I love Hever Castle and Gardens, it's my favourite castle. Relatively small but gorgeously designed with a wealth of history. The grounds, lake and gardens are stunningly beautiful especially in spring when in full bloom. Fabulous place for a picnic. I never tire of it. I've always found the staff to be friendly, smiling, welcoming and helpful.

Such an amazing place!! The view is breathtaking, and the garden (it has a variety of flowers) is well-maintained with art and class, and it is a massive area! There's a kiosk before you enter the bridge, so make sure to pay your fee. This place is good for picnics, accommodation and events (weddings). Everything was beautiful! It’s better to see this place in person and not just in photos. They have a parking area as well for guests.

Outstandingly beautiful place. We only purchased the gardens ticket, and still we didn’t have enough time to enjoy all that was on offer. Amazingly impressive gardens, architecture, activities, events and environment. Only 4 stars because of the extortionate prices in the cafe, where half(!) of a pathetic looking cheese sandwich cost £2.50. Do take your own food. Overall a wonderful place and well worth the entry fee.

If I could rank this place at ten stars,I would .The experience was enhanced by the wonderful , professional staff members all of whom gave an added "zing" to the I conic building. If you love Tudor History you cannot fail to be moved . There is definitely an Atmosphere in the Castle. Every one of the staff looked very smart and obviously were enjoying their posts. The information that they gave us was excellent. We went as a group of volunteers from the Mary Rose Museum so we were familiar with the history to a certain extent , but these people took it to another level. I urge you to go. The gardens and lake were huge and immaculate you could see the detail and loving care that had been put into the presentation of everything The café and shop were well stocked and reasonably priced. Many thanks to the custodians of the past at Hever Castle and grounds .

Wonderful Hever Castle and beautifully kept gardens and grounds. However at lunch time a trip to the Moat cafe for lunch was disappointing for a hot meal. The three of us chose the same meal from the digital screen menu to be told abruptly that it's not available because they did not have a delivery and was advising us in the queue what was.!..just remove it from the menu and problem solved. The meal we did choose was satisfactory and the coffees and teas all good. It did not detract from a lovely day at Hever and would highly recommend a day out here.

Great day out. Been here before but not during the jousting competitions. Great experience and they involve the kids so it's fairly family friendly. Would recommend a walk around the gardens and the castle (even though the castle itself is quite small). A lot more food options than last time I went, and the gift shop is pretty decent. Very tidy overall and very helpful staff.

Undoubtedly, one of the best castles I've been to so far. The garden is really big, and you can spend the whole day there. The maze is small, but we enjoyed it. There are so many picturesque places. Tickets can be bought at the gate.

Breakfast was delicious. The gardens were phenomenal😀 Staying in the castle was ok cos the seating cushions in the living next to the fire and also the ones on the sofa in our suite, were really really tired. I had to put a seating cushion on the top of the other to make comfortable 😉

A friend had toured the castle and grounds and mentioned that there was a B and B. We were only in the UK 6 nights and only had one night to spend here--and I'm glad that we did. The Falstaff and Bremly rooms were wonderful and the staff was even better. We took their recommendations for places to eat and all were top notch. And then there is the castle--what a treat.

My wife loves all things Tudor so this was a dream come true for her. Beautiful place. Lake walk is only about 35 mins rather than the hour they warn you about (unless you're elderly/infirm for example) and well worth doing. Water maze was great fun and inside the castle is awesome if you like your history. 20 minute walk from Hever Station was far preferable than a taxi from Edenbridge. Loved it.

  • 5/5 Natalia P. 8 months ago on Google
Great place!!! Castle is amazing. It is not big, which is good and when you walk through all the rooms you are not feeling tired. You enjoy everything. The gardens and the lake (especially Italian gardens) blow your mind. Thoroughly recommended!!!

  • 5/5 Amy H. 7 months ago on Google
Beautifully kept grounds. We had a garden ticket to allow us entry to the art and craft fair and had discounted tickets via the craft in focus website. Full price it is a bit expensive compared to a RHS site which we frequent but it definitely shows the money is allowing the site to be kept very well. The only issue was the amount of dogs allowed in, they were fouling on the stone paths and the owners weren't picking it all up so that isn't the most pleasant to see as the dogs weren't restricted to just grass areas. I also didn't see many bins or dog waste bins to encourage visitors.

  • 5/5 Brent H. 1 year ago on Google
Castle was okay, more like a palace than a castle, interesting if you're into the history or the architecture. The gardens and walks were great, brilliant play area for the kids, two mazes (one bushes, one 'water') and lovely formal gardens; quite spectacular. Well worth a trip even if you only pay for the gardens and not the castle itself.

  • 5/5 Thomas M. 7 months ago on Google
Back after a long absence to the home of the Boleyn family. My wife loves Tudor history and the family played their part. The Castle and Gardens are in wonderful shape and the whole place is peaceful, even with the regular fly overs. We also enjoyed a lovely lunch within the cafeteria which set us up for our long drive home to the Midlands. Excellent afternoon…

Hever Castle is a must visit! The castle is quite small (for a castle) but it's probably the most beautiful I've seen. The staff in the castle were brilliant. The grounds/gardens are so well kept. I can't wait to go back already!

  • 5/5 STASKA S. 8 months ago on Google
Really great park to visit! Especially for kids, but we went as a family and a dog! Dogs are allowed around the garden but not inside the castle. There are loads of activities for everyone, interesting architecture. We went on the boats which was about 19£ for 30 minutes and definitely worth it! There are people dressed up in costumes and interesting stands to see from back in the old times. For families I would recommend, even for a walk as a couple. There are entrance fees but no fees of parking.

Such a beautiful place. Visiting the castle felt like time travel, but we loved the huge park even more. The rose garden is amazing. Everything is looked after so well and there is so much to discover :)) Perfect destination for a wonderful day trip

What an amazing place, we just did the gardens as its summer and I didn't fancy walking around inside. the gardens are beautiful especially the Italian gardens and the walk down to the logia and looking across the lake. First time visit and we will be back for sure

Came for the castle, stayed for the gardens. Fantastic range of landscapes, mazes and walking routes. It is pricey, but it was also ten times the size than I was expecting. They are overstaffed in the cafes it seems, and half of them looked spaced out to the point of endearment. Still, friendly folk.

  • 5/5 Leila M. 8 months ago on Google
First visit to Hever Castle and we just paid for the gardens. There's just so much to do outside of the castle that I think we'll go inside for our next visit. Lots of parking and kiosks for coffee/teas, drinks ice creams etc. We visited on a day where we could watch the horse jousting, which was great fun! The playgrounds are decent. A giant replica castle for the little people to run around and a smaller sand based playground for the littler people! Would absolutely visit again. It's beautiful and lots to keep the children happy and busy from feeding the ducks, the playgrounds, great shows and highly recommend the water maze (bring a change of clothes or/and a towel!) Great day!

Fantastic day, such a lovely place, everyone was friendly. The castle is small, but this makes it great if you have younger children. Gardens a beautiful. The water maze was fun. Also we saw the falconry display which was funny and informative. Wish we had got there early as we still had more to see. Downside is all the food places close about an hour before the place closes, we needed a quick tea/drink before leaving, could do with them closing 30 mins before. Overall 5*

  • 4/5 Leah I. 1 year ago on Google
An enjoyable day out. Lots to do and see in the castle gardens and in the castle itself. Dogs on leads welcome in the gardens. Family friendly with audio tours aimed at children as well as an adult version. Quite a few places to buy food and sweet treats. Good to see vegan options in the main cafe and in the shop. Definitely need more than one visit to get around the grounds and maybe hop on a boat tour on the beautiful lake.

  • 5/5 Bianca W. 9 months ago on Google
While it's a bit difficult to get to without a car, it's definitely worth a visit! From Hever station, there's a walking path across the fields with minimal signage, which is definitely preferable to walking on the roads with absolutely no footpath or even green patch to walk along. But once you make it to the grounds, it's beautiful! The gardens are stunning and there's so much to see, from a hedge maze to a water maze, rose gardens and the stunning loggia by the lake, it's just such a great place. The castle itself is so full of history too, and comes with a fantastic audio tour that gives in depth information on the history and art of the place.

A collision of styles combine beautifully to create a unique baroque masterpiece. A stunning lake, coy carp filled moat, and almost cartoon style castle are the highlights of a brilliant child-friendly day out. On its day you can have jousts, reinactments, and hog roasts. COVID-19 is limiting options, but still worth a visit for the gardens alone.

We had a pleasant visit, explored the woodland walk, visiting the gardens, went on the lake in a row boat. It is a beautiful place. Even in the heatwave we managed to find shade and they have a water fountain to refill drinks bottles located inside the pavillion restaurant just before the entrance to the gents.

Hever Castle and its gardens are just beautiful, a must visit for any tudor fan. Staff are friendly and helpful. The castle is just amazing and a must see. You will have to queue to get in the castle due to social distancing so arrive early. We stayed in the bed and breakfast which is out of this world and gives you access to the gardens when everyone has gone home.. just a magical experience..

I love this place because of its pristine environment and timeless history. The gardens are beautifully manicured and the castle is in a great shape that still maintains the historical artifacts of the time. The family loves to run around the trees and enjoys a long boat ride in the adjoined lake. A great place for a full day family picnic. **Do remember to book your entry tickets online in advance due to the pandemic**

Stunningly beautiful castle, gardens and parkland. The adventure playground is awesome. If everything was running the price would be reasonable, but with COVID some things aren't working and the queues are long. In an entire afternoon we managed two activities, one of which was an extra charge (hence the shorter queue).

  • 5/5 Georgiana L. 3 years ago on Google
We love this place. Plenty of parking. Not to much walking from parking to the gates. My kids loves the playgrounds. The castle is really nice but now with the virus is a little queue. I love the flowers and how staff is so helpful and polite. It's a really nice place for everyone from kids to older people. I really recommend it.

Wonderful (small) castle and gardens. The gardens are the real highlight and very extensive, even including a moat. The castle was small but still very interesting, it was restored and renovated in 1900 - so in excellent condition. There is lots of food and other activities on site, so would make a great family day out - just note that you can’t take prams in the castle due to tight stairs.

  • 5/5 Cristian C. 3 years ago on Google
Lovely gardens and lake side area. That was all we could visit , along with water maze. Clean an tidy allround, good for walk and relax, plenty spaces to sit down and have a break. The only downside I could say, was lack of rubbish bins around lake walks and just 1 cafe open with poor basic choices, better bring your food and drink from home, along with a blanket.

  • 5/5 Chris 3 years ago on Google
A marvellous piece of English History, Perfectly preserved, and surrounded by the most spectacular gardens and lake. The Castle has some extremely passionate historians there to welcome and guide you through the fascinating stories behind every room. That matched with the expertly restored building itself is a must for all. You can see the garden evolving before your eyes, and the work that has and continues to go in to creating the best environment for all seasons. Again with some incredible facts, such as the lake being hand dug over two years by no less than 800 people, it definitely doesn't disappoint. There is a free car park, and some restrictions to make things safe but nothing that will dampen a great day out.

Lights were nice, aim at the younger age group really. We arrived at 7pm our time slot but the food stalls were shutting at 7.30pm so felt a bit rushed. Got some hot dogs and burgers which were just ok and were asked to move on. Went in cafe for drinks and forgot to put on face masks which was our fault. However told to put them on in not a very nice manner. Felt stressed out by the time I’d got the families order. By the time we finished our walk the stalls had already shut. Worth a visit for the lights but room for improvement by Hever Castle.

Great 🏰 well laid out grounds and facilities, friendly staff and not too crowded! Highly recommended for a day out with the family 👪

Gorgeous place, so many different areas to give it a feel that you are not seeing the same thing all the time. My little one loves the adventure playgrounds, especially the castle playground. Would highly recommend this place!

The Christmas trail is magical and the pathways throughout are lit beautifully. Well worth the visit even with the present covid restrictions

We went on the Christmas walk around the castle gardens on Sunday evening. It was wonderful, very Christmassy and to have a good slow walk around took about 90minutes, Definately go in the evening so that you Can see the lights.

Terrible experience with customer service and their booking system. They have a certain number of complimentary tickets on their website which are free and which are emailed to you. When you arrive (after driving for an hour and a half) with the tickets you are told that the tickets are not free at all and that the free complimentary tickets that you have printed in your hands are not free at all. They have a very strange booking system and 0 customer service. We will never return.

The 3 yellow stars are for the amazing gardens, castle and buildings. The 2 grey stars are for the £40 I paid (2 adults and one child) to have access to just the gardens and £11 for a small burger and greasy, skinny fries - both a stunning rip-off!
