At the beginning, one of the numbera on the door is the police who have a key to the cabin and can let you in any time. For those complaining about having to call to get the tour, a few misconceptions you might have not being from small town America. First is that this is not a metropolitan hub, the city if Rutherford barely taxes its property owners enough to pay a full time town clerk (she may be part time now, but when my aunt was in the position for 40 years it was full time). One of the two numbers on the door is the police department who keeps a key to the cabin. If you are cordial, I suspect you could tour the cabin at midnight. What other landmark can boast that. And another thing often not understood, the cabin was moved there yes, it was in bottom country out by the river, and would have rotted away many decades ago. The location was that of his mothers cabin that was long since condemned and removed. Her stone marked grave is in back of the cabin. Thanks

Nice quick stop. Wasn't opened but you could look through the windows. Gave you a good understanding how living was at that time.

First, be aware that the cabin is locked and you will have to call city hall or someone else to be let in. Don't let that stop you from visiting this hidden gem, especially if you like really old stuff. 🤣 It's hard to believe Mr. Crockett will have been gone 200 years in another ten!

Small but cool place to see. They moved the cabin from its original location to here, but still worth the visit. Small donations are accepted.

A joke of a place. We saw an article for this site in the TN Travel Guide thought it would be great. It said it was a "restored" cabin... it's not. It has a window unit AC hanging out the back and to boot it's right next to a school in a housing community. The hours online say 9-5 it's only open by appointment only... Just cross this off your list of places to visit - total joke.

A nice way to honor the very special legacy of one of my Alamo heroes Davy Crockett. The cabin was closed (appears to be open by appointment only) but I could barely see into the windows. I am glad to see it anyway and appreciate this small community preserving the house. Only can recommend if you are traveling near there.

Nice piece of history. Closed on weekends but a gentleman was there when we stopped by and let us go inside. Very friendly and enjoyable to talk to.
