The idea of a hostel made with bamboo in the forest was nice but unfortunately the reality doesn't live up to expectations. The photos are misleading and should be updated. They show a place and rooms that look much nicer, newer and cleaner than the reality. The bedrooms are not super clean but at least they are swept everyday, while the shared bathrooms are very dirty: not cleaned a single time in the 4 days I was there, despite complaints from several guests, including me. None of the toilet and shower doors were functioning, so other guests could see while you use the toilets and take a shower. When me and another guest raised the issue, the manager said that he wasn't aware of the problem (that tells a lot about management and maintenance) and will "look into it". 3 days later when I left, nothing had been done about it. During my stay, the 2 toilets were disgusting. The toilet paper was missing for 2 days. There was no soap nor paper towels in the toilets. 1 shower did not work at all and the second one had no lighting, so everyone used the same one. 2 guests ended up leaving the Hostel and booking elsewhere because of the overall lack of cleanliness. The tasty vegan food mentioned on the website is not offered anymore - only a (good) breakfast. The Covid measures highlighted on the website and reservation email are non existent (no hand sanitizer, the staff doesn't wear the mask, etc ). The location is more remote than indicated by the Hostel: about 15 mins to the village and 20-25 mins to the beach. On the positive side, in addition to the breakfast, I loved the path to the Hostel through the forest. This place could be a nice stay if it was managed and maintained professionally.

Me and a friend stayed here at the end of August and had a really amazing time. Even ignoring the very good price of the hostel, the location, cleanliness, beautiful kitchen, comfortable beds and most of all, the really friendly and helpful staff made this place probably the best hostel I've ever stayed in. It's a little bit off the main tourist trap area of Morro de São Paulo, but is still only 15 minutes walk maximum from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd beaches, and this distance means that the hostel is situated in a quiet area where you're basically in the middle of the forest. Fortunately we didn't see many mosquitos and all of the buildings have mosquito nets to keep them out of coming inside. Breakfast is included in the price and was always extremely good, with lots of fresh fruits, cakes and eggs. The staff were all super friendly and willing to help out and give you tips on where to go and what to do and they seemed to have good connections to different activities on the island such as horse riding and fishing in the mangroves. They do have dogs here but they are very friendly and docile (even if they bark when you first get there). Would definitely go back without a doubt and the only problem I had was that we couldn't have stayed longer!

If you like waking up to the sound of birds chirping, then you're in the right place. The location is out of the ordinary, in the middle of the jungle at the end of a cute little path. The staff is lovely, speaks a few languages and there to help.

Very nice place in the middle of the forest (10-15min walk to the center / port). As the windows consist of "mosquito nets" you really get to feel the forest. The rooms are clean and mosquito free. The staff is friendly and helpful and they prepare the best breakfast I had in a hostel (especially the two types of vegan cakes the make every day are delicious)! Would defenitely stay there again and recommend it to everyone who likes nature!

Loved the place, the atmosphere and the treatment received. The hostel is in the middle of the forest and yet it's spotless clean (kudos to that!!). It's Argentinian owned so I think you'll enjoy it more of you speak Spanish, as they arrange cultural events such as walks, theatre and jam sessions. Having said that, it is NOT a party hostel, so if that's what you fancy then I'll recommend somewhere else. Vegan breakfast was really really good (I'm not vegan nor vegetarian), although I must admit I didn't like the coffee. Still they get my 5 stars and I'd definitely come back there without a doubt when/if I get back to Morro de SP.

This magical place in the jungle is the nr 1 reason to stay at morro. The luxury house, caring and empathetic staff and best breakfast in the world, gave me the feeling that I was spending my time in a villa imagined in one of my dreams. Super cool architecture, a garden with loads of food and a nice wake up in the middle of nature. Go here! It is a life experience!

Please ignore the google review from 6 months ago by Mac D that tells you the way to access this hostel is through Rua da Prainha and NOT by Rua da Lagoa. It’s not accurate. Just follow the instructions given by the hostel website. This guys advice got us lost in the dark in the forest and it was bloody scary. We had to ask a local for help in the middle of the night. The hostel is great. We had a private room and felt totally safe, relaxed and comfortable. It was hard as English speakers to socialise though and we couldn’t really join in on the party. That’s probably our own fault though and we must keep practising our Portuguese and Spanish. Breakfast is pretty good. The optional vegan dinner was 35 and not amazing. We had to wait until after 9 to eat and we were very hungry.

Had a very nice 3 night stay in the Bungalow with my partner. Staff is very friendly and the breakfast is all delicious home made food. The atmosphere is rather calm, and that was were we were looking for. It’s 15min located from the center, right in the woods - so don’t expect to be dropped off with a taxi right before the entrance! 😉 It’s a bamboo hostel, located in a small forest. So expect to hear animals at night, bring repellent and walk on an unpaved (but well lit) road. Too bad we didn’t see any monkeys when we were staying there!
