Based
on
my
recent
experience
at
the
IKEA
store,
I
would
like
to
bring
to
your
attention
the
unprofessional
behavior
exhibited
by
the
personnel
in
the
self-checkout
area.
While
I
have
visited
multiple
IKEA
stores
across
the
world,
I
must
express
my
disappointment
in
the
treatment
received
at
this
particular
location.
My
fiancé
and
I
were
subjected
to
racial
discrimination
as
we
noticed
the
personnel
standing
uncomfortably
close
to
us
and
closely
monitoring
our
every
move
during
the
self-checkout
process.
This
behavior
was
not
extended
to
other
customers
using
the
self-checkout
machine.
I
must
emphasize
that
this
conduct
was
not
only
unprofessional
but
also
created
an
atmosphere
of
discomfort
and
frustration.
We
were
asked
to
recount
our
purchases
and
present
our
ticket
multiple
times,
which
seemed
unnecessary
and
excessive.
We
strongly
believe
that
our
treatment
was
due
to
our
accents
and
not
being
native
to
the
area.
It
is
crucial
that
all
customers
are
treated
with
respect
and
equality,
irrespective
of
their
ethnicity
or
background.
I
urge
IKEA
to
address
this
matter
and
implement
measures
to
prevent
such
incidents
from
occurring
in
the
future.
Thank
you
for
your
attention
to
this
matter.

In
response
to:
Hello
Jorge,
thank
you
very
much
for
your
review
and
comment.
We
assure
you
that
the
checking
process
is
completely
random
and
there
is
no
factor
that
influences
these
checks.
No
amount,
no
frequency
of
visit,
no
type
of
items,
no
appearance
of
the
customer
and
nothing
that
you
can
think
of
influences
these
checks.
It
has
been
implemented
for
security
reasons
and
to
be
able
to
have
a
control
of
the
%
of
"errors"
that
are
occurring.
The
percentage
of
tickets
that
are
checked
is
1
out
of
every
10.
We
apologise
for
any
discomfort
you
may
have
felt,
we
take
note
to
improve.

My
comment:
I
respectfully
submit
that
I
concur
with
your
viewpoint
regarding
the
personnel
at
the
self-checkout
counter,
provided
that
they
conduct
the
checking
process
in
a
courteous
and
respectful
manner.
It
is
regrettable
to
note,
however,
that
this
has
not
been
the
case
during
my
recent
visits
to
the
aforementioned
IKEA
outlet,
as
I
have
been
subjected
to
such
behavior
on
three
separate
occasions.
In
light
of
this
repetition,
I
cannot
regard
it
as
an
isolated
incident.
Forthcoming
interactions
of
such
nature
may
result
in
my
recording
of
the
matter
for
public
dissemination,
with
the
intention
of
highlighting
the
lack
of
consideration
demonstrated
towards
clients.
It
is
my
earnest
hope
that
such
measures
will
not
prove
necessary,
and
that
corrective
actions
will
be
taken
to
address
this
matter
promptly.
