Loved it!!! Went for our anniversary and loved every minute. We knew they did not take reservations so planned accordingly. The valet team is FANTASTIC!! Got parked and knew it would be an hour wait. No problem!! They make sure you know where to get a drink while waiting. Beautiful views. Got seated right on the dot when they said we would. Matt the server was fantastic and knowledgeable. Helped us order and super attentive. Got dinner right at sunset on st paddy's day. BEAUTIFUL. Will be back!!!

Complimentary valet parking works well. Prices are a little high, food is really good The environment is beautiful watching sunset and being on the beachfront on the intercoastal in Florida. The staff are incredibly friendly and worked very hard. The cocktails are really enjoyable and refreshing. We had an assortment of different items off the menu the blackened tuna I think was our highlight. Additionally the freshness of the seafood comes through. I would highly recommend this place just know if you’re coming you might have to wait an hour or so but there’s cocktails to keep you occupied. The sweet-and-sour cucumbers my daughter had were exceptional she definitely thought that was a five star item on the menu

Best dinner in St. Augustine ever. 34 year local. The food and the staff were amazing. Super romantic atmosphere on the water. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures and when I looked down at the plates they were gone. We started with champagne. Followed up by the Pear pasta , Vanilla grouper and a wonderful Lavender and Pistachio dessert. If you haven’t tried Cap’s on the water? What are you waiting for?

Such a fantastic experience all around! Valet parking (bring a cash tip), cocktail service on the pier while you wait, awesome food, and being front row for an amazing sunset. Everything about this place is incredible! We had mushroom risotto with scallops, the blackened catch of the day, and the key lime cup. Highly recommended any or all!

Wonderful, romantic, place on the water. Service was the best ever. Sydney and Jessica took care of us. Valet parking. How cool is that. Drive up and go eat. We had vanilla grouper and free desert. My birthday. Highly recommend

We were there in line waiting for them to open!. There is complimentary valet and we were sat quickly where we asked to be seated over on the right side overlooking the water. It was a cloudy day. A little hot but great place to sit IMO.. the food was great. We shared the seafood trio and a side order of Belgium fries ( they tasted like good fries?) and salad. It was a lot of food for 2 people. 👍🍽️

Pretty cool place. Complimentary valet parking and super friendly staff. Went at high time on Sunday night so it was crowded (90 minute wait for waterfront seating) but my group didn’t care where we were so we got seated immediately indoor near the bar. Really quiet in that room and good food/drinks. Got raw oysters, sesame crusted tuna, and a bourbon craft cocktail. Kinda pricey but not unreasonable for seafood and I really enjoyed my meal.

Wow! Wine prices are amazing. Food is some of the best we have had in a long time. Don’t miss out on the garlic oysters and herb crusted grouper. Service was so special - Glennie not only was overly attentive but went out of her way to make sure everything was to our liking. If you’re local or out of town, this place is a must.

Great food and service. Got there right after opening and were seated instantly by the water. Very kid friendly. Tables spaced out so no feeling of being cramped. Did not feel rushed as we enjoyed the sunset. Our new favorite restaurant. Thanks Olivia for the great service.

Great place off the beaten path. Free Valet parking. The staff is wonderful. The whole restaurant is laid out nicely. A couple romantic spots and some bar seating with a dock you can boat up to and enjoy your meal as well. Stopped in for a quick bite on the way to the airport. What a wonderful treat. The she crab soup was perfectly paired with the truffle fries. Highly recommend caps if you have not yet experienced it.

This has been the best food and service we’ve had after spending a month in St.Augustine. The views are amazing with the spanish moss hanging from the massive tree over you or the sunset on the water due to the direction the deck faces. Our waitress super professional, friendly and helpful. We arrived early for the best seat in the house (in our opinion!). Be there for sunset! My partner loved the Belgian fries (he is Belgian!)

This place was awesome! A casual dining atmosphere with outside seating along the water. It was beautiful! It has a rustic Florida charm with lots of old oak trees as part of their design. They slso have a boat dock if you arrive by water. The food was amazing...delicious and fresh. The service was great as well. If you are visiting the area, have a meal here for sure.

Eating here was a real treat. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top notch. We came here for our date night dinner before catching a show at the Limelight, and were very pleased. I don't really care for valet parking, but that is the only option here because they get very crowded and the valets are able to make sure all the space is optimized, which I get. I will say these guys were very efficient in both taking the car and returning it quickly. I understand why they can get very crowded! There is large covered outside deck area overlooking the Tolomato River, and the sunset views are highly coveted to accompany a delicious meal. The river views are beautiful, and there is even a dock where boat driving diners may "park" and have a meal. The bayou gumbo was a large portion of amazing flavor, accompanied by a wonderful homemade corn muffin. The spice and flavors were perfectly balanced and honestly I could have made a meal from this alone. We also tried the garlic oysters which were also outstanding. For mains we had the key lime shrimp and roasted vegetables with blackened grouper. Both were fantastic, full of flavor and very fresh. The menu is full of wonderful sounding dishes and we can't wait to return to try something else! Pro tip: They do not accept reservations, so depending on when you arrive and the weather you may have a wait ahead of you!

As bad as we wanted to sit by the water with a view we weren't willing to wait 2 hrs. We sat in the main dining area and walked right in. Worked out in our favor because it was pretty cloudy anyways. The stuffed crab claws were my favorite. The espresso martini was delicious, but not for $15. My husband had the seared sea Bass. His was better than my panko crusted grouper(the server suggested mine.) Overall, if we are ever in this area again,we will definitely be back. By far the best food we've had while hers

Beautiful restaurant by the Tolomato River. Got here on a Monday night and it was surprisingly busy. Despite the busyness, we were still seated almost right away, by the water. Our server was Brooke and she was knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. The vibes in the restaurant is super chill with ambient lighting and the amazing view of the sunset. The food was amazing, my girlfriend had raw oysters and it was fresh af! I had the seafood trio and the she crab soup and they were delicious! This is a place you must go to for date night because it's definitely ours.

I cannot say how good their food is because they refused to let us order. We couldn't get in to eat there, so we tried to do an online order. That didn't work. So we tried to call and order a pick up with no luck. They just told us no. I get it, they're busy. But they then allowed my brother-in-law to make a pick up order, then canceled it randomly when it was almost time for them to pick it up. They said they were too busy. Seems to me, if you agree to make someone a meal you should either do it or let them know you can't sooner than an hour later when they are hungry and expecting said meal. They have children. So now they are scrambling to find food at 6 in the evening when everything is packed. Terrible service. I'm sure their food is good, but good luck getting it

Great place for outdoor drinks and dinner overlooking the water. Valet parking only which is very easy. Arrived about 6:30 on a Thursday and had a short 30 minute wait. Seated in about 20 minutes. Several selections of craft beer which were local which is nice. Food is outstanding. Fresh, plentiful and served quickly. Service by Sean was superb. Not rushed, answered all our questions and was professional. We'll definitely be back.

Amazing food. The ambiance is amazing. The drinks are great. Customer service was great. There's nothing better than eating great food by the water during the sunset. If you love seafood this is the place to go. There is no way you cannot find a wine that you will love on there extensive wine list.

Great place to eat! I went with my boyfriend and his family over the Christmas holidays and it was delicious. We got all kinds of dishes and everyone liked their food including his 10yo nephew (a notoriously picky eater) We waited about 35 minutes but the waiting area was gorgeous and we were able to order cocktails there. It was all valet parking which was great because it was packed.

Really good food and service Our server, Regan went above and beyond to make our meal enjoyable. Cap's is known for their excellent seafood, but for an appetizer, try the Beef Tips! AMAZING 👍

Had one of the best dining experiences in my life at Cap's on the Water. Our server , Brandon, was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. He made fantastic recommendations to compliment our meal. The sunset view was spectacular especially from under the Spanish moss covered trees. The Crab Louie appetizer was delicious. I had the crab topped grouper as my entree and my husband had the fish n' chips with truffle fries. The cocktail sauce, black garlic aoili and honey butter all were perfect compliments to the fish n chips and were homemade. We will definitely be back. If you visit ask for Brandon as your server. His service really was stellar.

Amazing place ! Beautiful and great food. We where lucky to be able to get in at 6pm with a party of 15. Place is always busy and wait time is usually over an hour. But us worth it... ! Fish was fresh and good portions. Free valet parking and a great view specially at sunset. We had a great time and everybody was satisfied. We will come back and it is 100% recomended !

If you're looking for a dining experience that combines friendly service, breathtaking views, and delicious food, look no further than this restaurant. The staff was incredibly attentive and accommodating, making our visit truly special. The sunset waterfront view was simply stunning and definitely worth the wait. My daughter had a blast hunting for seashells on the beach while we awaited our meal. And when the food finally arrived, we were blown away. The menu was full of fun and unique options that truly impressed us. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant for a truly unforgettable dining experience

This was hands down the BEST food/seafood I've ever had! This place is a gem! The oysters were fresh and super clean! The fish, shrimp and gator tail were all phenomenal and the drinks were delicious! We had outstanding service as well! And did i mention the atmosspere? Breathtaking! We have found a new spot to eat when visiting St. Augustine! Definitely a must try!

We almost didn't come here because of the line of cars to just get to the valet. We turned around once and then decided to go back anyway and just wait it out. I'm so glad we did! The line wasn't as bad as it looked, and honestly, this place understands how to make a wait feel like a good time. Once you get through the valet, they take your name and encourage you to wait on the dock where you can enjoy drinks and appetizers... or just the incredible view. This place is as advertised ("On the Water"). The waiting dock is plenty spacious, with seating and a small ledge all the way around to set your drinks and app plates without having to hold it or keep it on your lap. The service, both on the dock and at the table, was great. The food was delicious as well. We opted to wait longer for a waterside table (instead of first available), and I'm so glad we did. Although the views from anywhere in the restaurant would have likely come with some sort of a view since it's almost completely open air, there was no beating an unobstructed view from the water's edge. For dinner, we enjoyed everything we ordered, but I will say the ribeye my husband ordered was probably the best steak either of us have ever had. He hasn't stopped talking about it, and it's been 2 days since we were there. The 2 bites he was willing to share with me were so full of beef flavor and melt in your mouth goodness, without any unnecessary extras. It was perfection. The whole experience ran us about $300, with tips, for 4 people (that's including dockside service and table service). However, that price was by choice, as we went all out for Father's Day with drinks, an app, dessert, and entrees... you could certainly eat here for less. Just note, they don't take reservations, so plan to wait, but also plan to not care; it's totally worth it! I would highly recommend Cap's On the Water and hope to make it back soon!

Caps was an awesome experience!! They have complimentary valet parking. It is a place to have an experience!! So we took our time, sat out on the dock enjoying the view of the intercoastal waterway! We ordered a drink and an appetizer. Our wait to have a table on the water was 60 minutes but we just enjoyed our time together so the wait actually wasn't long! Our meal was excellent and so was the service!! Life is too short and Caps is a place to slow our lives down, enjoy the beautiful scenery, spend quality time together! We highly recommend Caps if you need to get away and just enjoy your time together!!

Food was delicious, but a little pricey. Views of the river from anywhere in the restaurant you sit. Friendly and helpful service. Complimentary valet parking only. They do not have self parking.

What a great seafood restaurant!! It was fantastic! A little on the higher end but well worth it! Plenty of seating outside along the water or inside. Staff was courteous and well informed of the menu. Tuna tartare (appetizer) was the best I've ever had! Everything was excellent!! Seriously check this place out! Note: it's complimentary valet parking only.

Amazing service and breathtaking view. Seating areas are not crowded. They have heater outside if you prefer outdoors and offer bug spray if needed. We didn’t have any problem and just had to move in a covered area because of the weather. Very nice bar area. The main food is okay is on the sweeter side but the most we enjoyed are the appetizers. Their special crab leg appetizer is probably one of the best we have tried, very fresh.

  • 5/5 Gary H. 6 months ago on Google
Depending on how busy they are, choose the very large outdoor seating area facing the water. You can dine while watching the sunset and the boats parade about in front of you. Our entrees were the Atlantic Bass, fresh catch, served on creamy mashed potatoes and Fried Shrimp. Outstanding flavor, they don't accept reservations so come early.

  • 5/5 Marie C. 5 months ago on Google
Delicious small dinner for us this evening. She Crab Soup, Fried Plantains, and Calamari. Our waitress was awesome. The new changes are very nice and there’s plenty of space between tables. I do miss the shell chandeliers as they did lend to the waterfront atmosphere.

  • 5/5 Lynda S. 8 months ago on Google
This was a last minute decision. A storm came through and since we would have to drive anywhere anyway we decided to go to Cap's. This place has such a great atmosphere, the staff were nice. The food was absolutely delicious. We can't stop talking about it. After dinner the storm has blown over and we were able to check out the outside dining/bar area. It was absolutely beautiful and we hope when we go back we can sit out there. Definitely a place to put on your list of places to eat!

  • 5/5 Diana D. 7 months ago on Google
We really enjoyed dinner there last night. Service was exceptional from the valet to our server, Sierra. The food was amazing and delivered promptly, the sunset view was spectacular, and the ambiance was perfect. My only suggestion on improvement would be to add mist fans similar to what they have on the Las Vegas Strip. It was a little muggy. If there had been more of a breeze or better fans, we would have stayed longer, ordered dessert, and another cocktail or two.

  • 2/5 Dan L. 8 months ago on Google
Food was just okay. For the price I definitely expected a bit more We got the She crab soup and Tuna tartar app. The soup has broken so the texture was definitely off but you could tell the flavor was on the right track. The Tuna was very fresh tasting but lacked on the flavor... Needed some salt Service was tough to give a one because most of the servers were hustling and looked to be doing very well. However, our server didn't quite have the same attitude. She was nice but didn't really check in much. Main courses were okay. Crushed fish and seafood pasta For the price I will likely not return

Very nice place, amazing sunset view, nice people, however… Asked for a table for 2, over 1 hour wait, was recommended the bar… multiple open tables throughout the night, we ended up being the only ones at the bar having dinner. The place has everything to be an amazing experience, however I felt it was over priced, poorly managed, service was far for good, and it lacked the experience. Come prepared for a 2 to 3 star experience at best.

  • 5/5 Cindy J. 3 years ago on Google
A friend recommended this place for it’s great food and beautiful view of the sunset. We were not disappointed! It was a little bit chilly but we sat outside anyway. Each table had its own space heater. We had the Crusted Grouper, She Crab Soup, Sweet and Salty Coconut Rice, and the Key Lime Pie Bowl for dessert. All delicious! Our server, Brooke, was super sweet and gave us fantastic service. And the sunset...absolutely breathtaking! We will definitely be back.

Great spot on the water with beautiful panoramic river views. It was very chilly when we visited, but I imagine this place is even better when the weather is warm!

Upon arrival, we signed in. The hostess escorted us to the seats on the peer with it being very cold and windy. We went back inside keeping our 6 ft distance and shortly were able to wait inside. Then 2 groups of 5 and 6 came in stood within 2 feet of us. They eventually moved. We waited 45 minutes looking at an empty booth for 30 minutes. When I went to the hostess stand, there were 5 staff behind the counter talking. I was told there were 2 parties ahead of us. We were seated after asking about the empty booth. There needs to be more awareness of what's going on as far as available seating when so many people are waiting. That being said, I have to say the food and the service by Blossom was excellent!!

Excellent service tonight! Our server, Amanda, was energetic and very attentive. Lots of good suggestions! Beautiful ambiance. We started with cocktails and appetizers. The sunset martini was amazing. Old Fashioned was classic, smooth. Saint Augustine distillery boozes (gin and whiskey) were wonderful. Smoked fish dip was full of flavor. Hot fresh bread with sweet butter was great. The oysters were fabulous, got the Rockefeller and the garlic ones. Grouper, whether blackened or crusted was awesome. Flounder was delicious. Seafood trio was great, very filling. Dessert was crème brûlée- to die for! Fabulous night out, highly recommend. Inner coastal views were the cherry on top.

This place is lovely! Hand's down the best restaurant I've been to St Augustine. The experience starts awesomely with free valet parking and excellent service. The girl that took our orders was very nice and kind. Thoroughly explained the product and suggested a not-so-expensive wine that we liked. We ordered the Honey Salmon and the Seared Tuna. Both were cooked to perfection and presented a fascinating mix of flavors. By the end of the night, we walked along the deck. It was a very calm and refreshing experience. I attached some photos I took there.

What an amazing restaurant! Beautiful view, we were sat right away on the water! Our waiter Greg was AWESOME! He was very fast, funny, and he gave us some great suggestions for food. Yuck... unless you're just there for the view. the downstairs of the place is lovely and the service was pretty good. My mashed potatoes were flavorless and cold. When I asked for some "real butter" for them they brought me a big, cold slab of something. Now it may have been heavily salted butter - or it may have been the same margarine they gave us to go with the bread. In any case the cold potatoes were not up to melting the cold, hoped for flavor enhancer. They weren't even warmish. Not refrigerated... but not warm or hot. I got blackened shrimp on my Cap's Salad. The salad was nice and the dressing tasty but the blackening seasoning was so loaded with salt that could not really taste anything past the salt. My husband had she-crab soup which he said was good, and jambalaya which was "fine." Neither of us ate anything we would ever return for. I would say that the service was *really* good except that the server, knowing that the potatoes were unsavable (I mean she *agreed* with me) did not offer to take them off the bill. It wasn't a lot of money - but the principal, ya know? We won't be back unless it's to enjoy dessert only and watch a sunset.

This is a very nice place. Great ambiance. Had the fish and chips. It was delicious. I would love to know if anyone has the spice mix recipe used for the batter! It was delicious with a kiss of curry. Husband had the She Crab Soup Peel and Eat Shrimp. It was good. It could have been warmer. Overall a nice place. 4 stars because the prices were considerably high. The Spanish moss adds a great Florida feel that I know many love to see.

Service was subpar at best, switched waiter mid meal without notice until we went to get more drinks. Waiters were too busy to attend to the table and appeared to be taken back with my orders. Food was without favor! I have eaten here many time, it appears they have reduced their standards. I was very disappointed.

(Translated by Google) This restaurant was without a doubt the most divine culinary experience I had during 5 days in San Agustin. Food not worth the money. So far the most covid restrictive place. Over done for outdoor seating.

My review about Caps- St. Augustine needs more restaurants! The place isn't bad, but it's not great either.. When people are lining up at 3:30 with the hopes of getting a table at a mediocre place like this, there is a serious supply and demand problem there. My only guess to the enormous amount of glowing reviews would be that people are just happy to get something to eat and see the sunset. Some advice to people out there, go to the west coast and see the sunset from as many restaurants as you'd like. St. Augustine is a beautiful city with a serious shortage of restaurants.

Odd shut down between 3:30 and 4pm. Only drinks and appetizers available. Otherwise great service and food.
