Visited this location around Christmas 2021. For the price, it is thus far my favorite hotel in the general St. Louis area. Quiet, all the right perks, and great rooms. There was a short wait for check-in but I think there may have been an issue with some folks who were leaving. It wasn't unreasonable. We stayed in the Whirlpool king room for my birthday. It was very clean, with a safe, wardrobe, microwave, fridge, TV, desk, three chairs, the Whirlpool, and a king-size bed. There was also a good-sized bathroom with plenty of towels and toiletries. The bed was very comfortable. I did wake up sore in the morning, but I have a bad back and less-firm beds always do that to me. The Whirlpool was fantastic. Sparkling clean, good and hot, powerful adjustable jets. The dials on it no longer seemed to change the intensity of the jets, however--but you could manually point them up or down if, for instance, your back gets sore from hotel beds. We enjoyed breakfast in the morning before we left. We don't eat meat but there were scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuits, bagels, yogurt, fruit, peanut butter, juice, and coffee. The eggs were really good and the biscuits tasted fresh. The staff person working the breakfast area was kind to check on us, but we are still masking (except while eating) and she did not wear a mask. Just something to consider--we did appreciate her service.

Really enjoyed our one night stay at this hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful! The breakfast selection was surprisingly large and the eggs were actually decent. The lady in charge of the breakfast room was sweet and efficient in keeping everything stocked. The rooms had just a little extra width that made them feel more spacious. I would definitely stay here again!

The man working the front desk was a former policeman, it made us feel comfortable that they had built-in security. The room in the pool we're very clean. The second floor had a terrible odor permeating the hallway though. Breakfast was really good.

This was in a great location as it was within walking distance to some shopping and Texas Roadhouse! The rooms were nice but nothing special and the pool was freezing! Otherwise, the breakfast was superb for a complimentary hotel breakfast with multiple options for my picky kids and their coffee machine was a hit with all of our guests! Would definitely stay here again.

Well-worn is the term I would use. The staff was helpful when issues arose but honestly, the only solution would’ve been to burn it down and start over. Most of the showers didn’t drain, beds were not clean, there was hair on the floor, rooms smelled like pot or urine, refrigerators were dirty and host of other issues. I’m not sure where all the positive reviews are coming from but of the 10 other families who stayed there while we were there—not one had a good thing to say. Go stay somewhere else, especially if you have kids.

Terrible! My husband and I were treated with complete unprofessionalism by the maintenance staff at this hotel and the manager went along with it. And we had done nothing wrong. This hotel has is old and in need of repair. To be treated with such disrespect and then attempting to blame guests for their buildings plumbing leak is insane. I am so upset and embarrassed. Have never been put in a more uncomfortable situation than I was this morning. I’ve contacted BW corporate and will be contacting the better business bureaus.

I might sound biased here but this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed, didn't look a 3 start hotel at all. I had stayed in a Best Western before but this was beyond expression. Probably I had a different experience than everyone else here. I checked into a king-size bedroom but there was an issue with the water sink at the restroom, so they switched me to a queen-size room. The latter was cheaper when I was booking online but they say no refund. But this was not the part bothered me. Everything was gross here, there were grease of fingerprints everywhere, on nightstand, on restroom handle, on main door handle. Every time I touch a handle, my hands were in grease. No exaggeration!! Stains on towels and tables. I stayed in a $20 motel and this looked way worse than those motels. I could see this messiness everywhere, the elevator floor seemed like not have vacuumed in months. If you are into hygiene and cleanliness, please do not select this place.

We stopped here passing through the St. Louis area on I70. This is a pet friendly hotel. We were surprised with a very good rate, friendly service, and clean, well kept establishment. The rooms had fridges, microwave oven, and coffee maker. Breakfast was the usual hotel fare, but was all hot and tasted better than many I had in the past. I would recommend this hotel for a night or two stay in St. Charles.

It's not the Ritz. Rooms are decent and clean. On the old side, you can see some wear in the bathroom but nothing awful. Nothing special but we were not there to stay in our room! Breakfast was really good. Chef knows how to make really good scrambled eggs and sausage or bacon, good for folks looking for low carb. Lots of other options. Older woman who was there kept the area clean and made sure food was hot (if it needed to be) and replaced things that ran out. Coffee is good, which is a shock for a hotel.

Just returned after 14 days....we had absolutely no problems at all in staying here and have already booked for September. The check In staff are very friendly and always willing to help out in anyway they can. The staff in the restaurant were also fabulous especially Susan she is a credit to your establishment. Gena was wonderful with us too and she is the general manager. Thank you to you and your staff,we cannot wait for September

Roaches in my bathroom, needs updated. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone I know. The breakfast is good but ends promptly at 9am. Staff was helpful also. No hot tub… I spoke with both the front desk people on 3rd shift and again with 1st shift. Your response is incorrect, your front desk clerk Michelle did offer me a refund. Please be accurate with your response, your guests deserve to know the truth.

Love this place, I typically travel to St Peters once a month and this is my go to. Prices are fair, location is great and the quality of the hotel is above par! It seems the gentleman at the front desk is there every time I check in. I can't remember his name (if I did I would not put it here) but he is very courteous and friendly. Young man's name starts with "D", not James. I just checked in.

Disgusting. The hotel had a funky smell. Nothing felt clean and nothing was truly clean. The drains in the bathroom backed up. The outlets were old and things would not stay plugged in. Internet was intermittent and the beds were terrible. One was so lumpy and you could feel the springs in it. A few of the staff were very pleasant and offered us extra linens. We took our own trash out each day. It was conveniently located by several stores we needed to go to.

Arrived pretty late one evening. Easy to locate. The gentleman at check in was wonderful- kind, funny, efficient. The bedroom was nice, clean, and comfy. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was great!

Stayed 2 nights for a soccer tournament. After checking out found our car had been keyed from taillight to headlight. Saw that a camera was pointing right at our car. Went in and asked for security. Front desk clerk said there is no security. We explained what happened and she said there are no cameras. We made her come out and see the camera to which she then said it didn’t work. She pointed out that there was a path through the bushes to a restaurant and that’s why she always tell people not to park back there. We said no one told us that and there were no other parking spaces. I asked why there was parking there if they know it is a problem. She said well usually it’s not a problem. We walk back to the hotel and a manager tells us (from another room behind the counter) that the cameras are fake. My husband looks around and sees the camera screen showing our car right in front of her. He asked that she look through the footage for the crime and we would be back after the soccer game. The manager agreed to do so. I called after the game and was told they would not review the footage and we could file a police report on our own. Extremely unhelpful and lazy staff. I would not recommend this hotel. Also the beds are terribly uncomfortable. Breakfast was constantly out of food. If you like coffee this is not the place to go as it was always empty along with the waffle batter.

We have stayed at this location three times. Each stay has been perfect with something special each time. It has the biggest breakfast area we have ever seen with wonderful ladies working to make sure everything is perfect. The desk clerks has also been some of the best. The bottom line for us is this location puts the "Best" in Best Western. We will stay here any time we are even close to St. Charles.

Room was very spacious and bed was so comfortable. Loved the pillows. A few basic channels and basic breakfast. Somethings can be improved but overall not bad. Would definitely recommend if your on a budget and need to stay in a comfortable place in the St. Charles area.

TL;DR: Stay somewhere else. There are better rooms for a similar value if you look. They seem to be early in the process of remodeling. When we first checked in, service was impeccable. Not long after a service worker with a large trashcan in front of us used the down and up buttons to get the first possible elevator. Road it to the first floor before heading back up (basically ruining the optimization and taking up both elevators until the one that was headed up hit her floor and came back down. Don't expect to use the luggage carts in the elevators. I was able to get one in, but there's hardly room for 2 people alongside the cart. In addition, it's difficult to get the cart back out. The room was not satisfactory. I found multiple hairs in the bed and on the pillows. It smelled clean, but it's hard to not think about other hairs in the bed. The toilets are so low to the ground that anyone else with knee problems will likely have trouble with it. And I don't know of a more delicate way to say this: Multiple men in our group reported that when they sat down, their testicles touched the toilet water. That's a horrific thought that had me avoiding the toilet at all costs. The A/C units are the older style and the TV's do not support casting or using any streaming services so you are stuck with a very limited basic cable package that never has anything you want to watch. The lighting in the room is not good. If it's dark out, you will have trouble getting enough light to sufficiently illuminate the whole room. At the same time if it's dark, there are no lights angled to only brighten up half the room. So anyone who has trouble sleeping with light in their face will probably have issues. The outdoor patio is gated by the pool. So once the pool closes, you can't get back out to the patio. The front desk let us through, but it was very annoying. There is no app for checkout or automatic checkouts. There is no app for room access. Breakfast is substandard. There is a small mix of hot items, bagels, cereal and waffles. The only yogurt is yoplait light (too sweet) and the only milk options are a large carton of Almond Milk, and small bottles of chocolate milk. Location-wise, it's next to a small Bass Pro Shop and a Texas Roadhouse. It's also a good 10 minutes from a couple soccer complexes. Traffic can be a hassle though.

What is that smell? It permeated the upper floors and I had to leave after one night. The gal at the front counter graciously released me from staying through any of my previously reserved nights after I explained the situation. I don’t know if it’s mold between the walls and bricks when it rains or if it’s something else- but it was enough to get me to vacate. They have complimentary breakfast ( if you’re vegan or vegetarian, it’s slim pickings!) and the staff were incredibly helpful and kind. The decor on the upper floors was kind of weird ( eerie prints of abandoned buildings and old-timey Old Town St Charles photography) which didn’t convey the most inviting impression, but the overall vibe of the building is comfortable.

Your centrally located to everything you want to see. I'm here on business and have been all week. Great staff, extremely clean rooms. Very professional atmosphere. No worries of any Bed bugs here. The rooms are spotless. Sleep comfortably and definitely enjoy your stay. I have been and I will be back as work brings me to the area. Thanks Best Western "The Charles"! You've been the best!!

I stayed here one night of my trip to St Charles. Front desk was friendly and helpful. The hotel felt a bit tired and worn but it was OK. Breakfast selection was good for a continental. I found it odd that there were almost no plugins easily accessible in the room. As in almost none. Almost every one was behind a table or stand. Odd.

We stayed for 2 nights Oct 28th - 29th. It was okay. The lobby looks nice and is modern it seems they also remodeled the elevators too it looks nice and modern. Our room was clean no complaints there. Everyone we interacted with here was very nice and kind. It’s also a very quiet hotel so we enjoyed staying here. There’s some things that can be approved on. It’s an older hotel it’s showing its age. It definitely needs some love on the outside. The toilet in our room sits extremely low to the ground a lot worse than others. The 5th floor ice maker was leaking water on Oct 29th during the night the carpet around that area was soaking wet and was steadily pouring out water from a connection point. We did let the overnight attendant know about it. I think it’s kinda odd they don’t offer daily housekeeping even at request they still don’t. I asked the night attendant and he explained it was not offered.

It looks not so good from the outside and is in a Denny's parking lot. But it is nice on the inside and was quiet. Plus we were able to walk down the park for our event. So historic downtown at Charles is with in walking distance.

We had a good experience here, and it suited all of our needs for a one night stay. The beds were comfortable, and showers and bathroom were adequate. We had good, quick service on check-in and check out. The breakfast had many options. The only complaint would be the cleanliness of the hotel. The elevators were disgusting, and our bathroom was pretty gross to walk into upon arrival, which made us question the cleanliness of our bedding and other things we couldn't see.

The workers were nice! The breakfast was good as always. The room was clean. The room keys worked a lot better this time. The only complaint is that the shower in bedroom suite was only hot water. I couldn’t make it cold or warm, it was only hot water. The other shower in the living room area worked fine.

Staff was cordial. Requested an upgrade, but the hotel was sold out. We were given an welcome gift of 2 bottles of water. Spacious room. Comfortable bed. The toilet, however, is definitely kid sized and I am a short person!!! Typical breakfast in a very large space, which was filled.

Very nice hotel and clean. The wheelchair accessible room was actually accessible. Room has a small refrigerator that I was able to put my food in and there was actually gluten free options for breakfast that I could eat, which was very nice. The eggs and potatoes had an odd taste to them but I was just happy that the hotel offered a breakfast I could eat, as most don’t. I also appreciated the water cooler in the lobby that I was able to fill my water bottle, this is a feature I wish more hotels had so I didn’t have to try and fill it in the bathroom sink, the water just doesn’t taste right from there.

Definitely pleased with my overall stay so far. Room is beautiful and clean, just the way I like it. The bed was amazing to sleep in, didn't want to get up. The pool was nice and refreshing to swim in with my local family members. Staff seems okay. I'll definitely have to try out the breakfast before I leave, it smelled pretty yummy from the elevator. The huge plaza the hotel is located in has literally everything we need for our stay. I will be booking here in the future everytime I come to town.

Room temperature was comfortable, along with being clean and quiet. Breakfast was good and hot. This hotel is currently under going a remodel but you would never know it. The staff is very accommodating.

Our stay met every expectation I told my wife I had experienced in the past. Thank you for maintaining the exceptional accommodations. Dennis was very cordial, polite, articulate. In our two night stay other staff members took the time to recognize and remember the fact that my 7 year old had a little sister and at breakfast asked where her side kick was. House keeping staff were also very nice and fun to be around. The extended pool hours are a huge plus for us.

The hotel is fine, the front desk folks are nice. Breakfast was good and hot!! My main issue is repeatedly not being able to get in my room!! Having to go back downstairs to have the keys redone....4 times one night!! Not what I want to do after a long day....or time at the pool and the kids are freezing!!

  • 5/5 Lawrence B. 1 year ago on Google
Nice rooms, pretty clean. The breakfast was one of the best free hotel breakfasts I’ve had. The kids all left full and happy. Staff was pretty friendly. Definitely sign up for their “club” or whatever because that saves 20-25$ per room.

After a frightening Airbnb experience we had no where to sleep at 4 in the morning. We found ourselves at Best Western and Emma was amazing! After explaining our situation, Emma was kind, validating and accommodating. We immediately felt safe and were able to get some quality sleep before a long drive. Thank you Emma and Best Western staff!

Overall a good place to sleep. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. Commode was very low. Window was fogged over. The price was nice, $107. The breakfast was great!

The hotel was ok. Meh. I was traveling with friends for one night. We both remarked how the rooms are too dark. There needs to be a lot more light. The bathroom toilet is suitable for a child… it’s WAY too low. I almost fell in going to sit. The room was also very damp and musty/moldy smelling. It actually kicked up my husbands allergies. The rooms are dated and just ok outside of these issues. It was clean overall and the bed was comfortable.

Went to take our small children swimming and initially we were told our children couldn't utilize the small emd because they were giving swim lessons from another company. Finally after speaking with the front desk we could use a small portion. We were given dirty looks by the maintenance guy when we got just enough pool towels for our family. He even had the nerve to ask us how many people we had swimming. 🙄 Honestly the ONLY good part about the stay was the breakfast the next day and the nice women who worked the kitchen. Otherwise this hotel was overpriced. 🤷‍♀️

To be fair this wasn't the staffs fault. We had driven through a storm to make a layer check-in. When my family entered the lobby we were greeted with countless buckets, bus tubs, laundry bins and trash cans strung out throughout the lobby to catch MASSIVE leaks in the ceiling. The word Atlantis comes to mind, minus the lost wonder and excitement of exploring ruins! The flood had more than a puddle to it and to top it all off the elevator had a construction sign on it. To be fair, they limited construction from 11a-4p, but still it was there and happening. It was late, we were tired, and in no mood to find something else so we checked in and went to our room. It didn't get better. The room was dark and extremely humid, like hard to breath/swimming in your skin humid. The floor had a huge red stain on the carpet between the beds, the refrigerator was spacious but had rust at the back, the toilet seat and handle were broken and the bathroom had what looked to be mold and rust growing in the corner(see pic you decide). If we weren't literally about to drop from exhaustion we would've checked right back out! But we stayed the night, and promptly relocated the next day. Might be better after renovation is finished....probably not.

My wife and I arrived on a Friday evening. As we entered the lobby to check in the fire alarm was going off. The gentleman at the front desk said someone was working on it. He checked us in. He told us due to to fire alarm going off the elevators were not operational. Then he said I have some bad news, your room is on the 7th floor. My wife asked if that was the only room available, he said yes. We climbed the 7 floors to our room. Left a short time later to go eat. Came back 2 hours later with the alarm still going off and the elevators not working. We were not happy. My wife has knee issues. It was painful for her to go up the stairs. The alarm was fixed during the night. We checked out at 6:30 AM. I called back later and spoke to the manger about a possible discount or compensation. She said the fire alarm issue was not the hotel’s fault and there would not be any discounts given. I protested and asked about the importance of customer service mentioning the inconvenience of our stay. She told me to have a good day and hung up.
