I like to visit St. Charles Historic district and walk on Main street. On this place, a lot of small souvenirs shops could be visited. The unique architecture and atmosphere could be seen from attached photos.

A good mix of history, shopping and food. Nice flow, but car traffic can be intense at times. It would have a total different feel if there was no auto traffic, because you can't loose yourself in the time period with a late model car going by.....

Went here a few days before Christmas and it was the cutest! Carolers, roasted chestnuts, horse drawn carriage rides. Christmas oozed out of every corner and it was a delight!

I love visiting this charming, historic part of Saint Charles. The Christmas Traditions event is so enchanting and really puts visitors in the Christmas spirit. The local shops carry such unique gifts and products, some of which are handmade that you won't find elsewhere. The local restaurants, cafés, bakeries, ice cream parlors and coffee shops offer great cuisine and dining experiences, some with relaxing, scenic views along the Mississippi, and the local bars offer lively nightlife. You must visit historic Saint Charles--what a lovely place to visit!

What a great place to walk around and explore on a nice day. The historic district has many small boutiques and shops housed in old buildings original to the beginning settlement of St. Charles. It is a lovely area.

The BEST Christmas experience in the Greater Saint Louis Area. Christmas parade, character actors, card collecting, carage rides, shopping, coffee, and Grandma's Cookies.

I love coming here at any time of the year, this place is always thriving with new people and new attractions. I especially love halloween season! Rain or shine they always say and they mean it! Perfect place to go when you just want to get away from everything and take a nice stroll down this beautiful historic district. The riverwalk is even a HUGE plus! Just make sure to pay attention to weather and the river for flooding, but besides that this place is a wonderful area to just go to, to get out of the house. Will ALWAYS recommend!

In addition to numerous quaint old-fashioned shops & restaurants along brick-paved Main Street and outdoor conversation areas, there are a number of attractions along the Missouri River. There are two cabooses, a well-decorated train depot (not in use), and several tributes to Lewis and Clark, including a larger-than-life monument. This is a great place for a stroll or for photo ops!

Old St. Charles is quaint and full of historical charm. The shops range from cute and quirky to artsy and beyond, with something for everyone, and there are many nice dining options along the entire length of the brick-paved streets. Great place for a lazy stroll and a day full of fun along the Missouri River.

I absolutely love this area. All the stores are definitely worth the drive. Wear good walking shoes, and check out all the stores. (Gets busy on weekends and good weather.)

Mostly bars and restaurants, little culture or creativity. Definitely not worth more than a 20 minute drive to get here. The street and buildings are cute...but that's it. Lots of towns have that charm but with more to offer.

Great little town with such an amazing Christmas festival. Our kids had a wonderful time collecting cards and learning about Christmases all over the world and throughout time. We felt very fortunate to go this year.

Whenever we travel, my daughter and I love visiting local historical sites and we were not disappointed with the St. Charles Historic District. The drive down Main Street's uneven, brick-laden road was an experience in itself. The quaint shops, verdant landscaping, and varied architecture of the buildings provided visual interest. After our scrumptious lunch at Magpie's Café, we relaxed on Riverside Drive overlooking Frontier Park and the Missouri River before heading to the airport to catch our flight home to Southern California.

Festive and fun fall activities all the way through the New Year. A fun place to leisurely shop and walk. You may come away with a few festive nick nacks.

This place is adorable!! Some parts have the original brick roads, others parts are newer brick. They have done an excellent job keeping this district authentic. The feel of walking the streets is entertainment itself. The buildings are beautiful and so unique. I could walk down here all day. All local unique shops ranging from foods, desserts, trinkets, jewelry, clothes, everything. No chains that I saw. The few places we went in the employees were friendly, educated, helpful, and again so nice. I can't wait to come back.

The historic district of St Charles is a must-see. Lots of unique shops, the cobblestone street really adds to the historic look and feel.

Gorgeous historic Main Street. It would have been better if it was pedestrianized. The cars kinda ruined the Williamsburg feel.

Super picturesque and also a serious culture center. Main Street Books is always hopping. And the MO river is just a block away.

Took my daughter on Halloween for her first trick or treating. The people were great and all the costumes were adorable too.

My family and I love the St Charles historic district, especially during the holidays. anytime we have family members are friends coming in from out of town we take them to the historic district to look at all the fun shops and walk around. we drive 30 minutes regularly to come up and hang out with friends at the historic district. If you have never been here, it is really worth the trip. A ton of awesome local shops, and amazing restaurants! And you won't want to miss it during Christmas time!

Old St. Charles is definitely underrated. It is the perfect place to go, no matter your age, as long as you like people and cute little shops all around. The cobblestone roads add for a very warm feel and the people who visit there and in the stores are always very nice. You can sit in a coffee shop, look at the jewelers, or even stop to ride your bike or walk along the Katy Trail. My friends and I rode one of those four person bikes for a very cheap price through the streets and everyone around us would smile at our laughter. They have really good Italian restaurants and ice cream. (P.S. if you play Pokémon Go, there’s a ton of Pokestops) ;)

This is the quintessential main street America experience. There are lots of little shops. I recommend grabbing a treat at Sweet & Slice...yummy! If you're ready for something savory stop by Smoke + Salt.

Great small business strip in buildings that are older than your parents.

Enjoyed dinner at Salt & Smoke. We were supposed to see the Krampus, but the Christmas Traditions book was incorrect and he is only there on Fridays...not Wednesdays.

Always a great weekend activity. Tons of shops and more than enough quality dining options.
