Prices went up drastically. Portions went down. They always always mess up the take out orders every single time. I ordered a BLT with fries and coleslaw, 3 cups or soup and a side coleslaw and a side of bacon it was $30. Like dam . Me my son and bf use to all be able to eat there for that much. So many other places needing business that wont over charge and screw up ur order. Sorry I gave this place many chances cause I know the waitresses are trying to make a living. And I understand covid happened but even dining in, they got all brand new dishes (smaller ones) so it makes it look fuller they should focus on the customers not their profits. 3 pieces of bacon for an $8 blt sandwich..... alot of lettuce though lol

The prices are reasonable and the portions are plentiful. I was walking out the door I saw the beautiful dessert display. Sorry I didn't get a picture but I tell you, it's worth it just to go there and have a dessert. I heard they're gonna be so much. Is enough for 2 to 3 meals.

We have been patronizing Charlie’s for over 10 years, but today was really ridiculous. We ordered garden crapes - take out. Only to get home and they were burned. My husband took them back and was treated with disrespect. It’s not like we cooked the burned food. I don’t know if Charlie’s is under new management, but lately including today the customer service was deplorable. I’ll find another breakfast location that will service customers properly.

Affordable priced dinners. Had the Lasagna and my guest had the Michigan Cherry Salad (large size). Oh my goodness!! Huge portions...over the top large!! Very good food. Very clean. Will come again.

Gina is super friendly. However, carry out is a hit or miss. Missing sides half the time. Also I highly suggest avoiding this place near their closing time... ordered an hour before closing and my food was rushed out, hash browns barely cooked toast barely cooked no jelly smh..

Were seated immediately and waters brought to table as we were sat. Our breakfast food was served very quickly and was delicious as usual.

Food looks amazing, smells good too. Absolutely no seasoning and tastes extremely bland though. 3rd strike n their out unfortunately. I did not like how the waiter called me honey in front of my boyfriend or how the young waitress with her hair tight back in a bun was cussing while we were eating... not very appropriate for a family restaurant... was very unamused by her....

I have been here before and in my search for the perfect fish and chips but their offering wasn't what I had hoped. I visited again with the family just after breakfast time and ordered the breakfast special and it was everything I had hoped for in a diner breakfast and more. Meats were great, grits were perfect, and eggs and toast rounded out a great breakfast. Nice up of traditional diner coffee as well! Will be my go to on future visits!

Had been going to this place for a couple months. Food and service was great until last night. I ordered the ribs, which looked, felt, and tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. And even though they "pulled apart", they tasted horrible, and chewed like leather. Upon bringing this to the attention of our server, she had the manager come to our table, who proceeded to inform us that my taste was a personal matter, and there was nothing wrong with the ribs. She then had the chef stand there, and, with his bare hands, pull the ribs apart to prove they were tender. She then told us we were NOT getting a different dinner, unless we paid for the ribs, along with the different dinner. Of course after much discussion, they took the ribs off the bill, but we were not allowed to order another dinner. What the _____ kind of manager and jip/joint restaurant is this! Was going to take some friends there Sunday, but I'd rather eat dirt and wood chips for dinner before going back there. And I will discourage anyone who asks about this place from going there. Seems like the owner and manager are probably related, for the owner to allow this type of management style, and treatment to customers.

In my opinion, this place has declined since the new ownership took over. From all aspects.... price, value, and service.

It has been a while since I've last visited this restaurant but what I recall is the food was delicious and did not disappoint! My mother chose to eat here as a small mother-daughter date and she recommended it! I had never heard of this restaurant before and boy, do I wish I did!! Wonderful service and staff, very kind and delicious food. Definitely is a family restaurant and I highly recommend trying this place out if you haven't heard of it!!!😁

The food is consistently good here. I have had breakfast, sandwiches, and most recently, a hot roast beef sandwich - had plenty to take home for seconds. Wait staff friendly and check with us just often enough, and prices are reasonable in today's economy. Would recommend.

My husband and I ordered carry out, 2 chicken pitas and 2 seasoned fries, one was supposed to come with broccoli soup and one with coleslaw. We have been going here for years, has always been our go to diner. Well, we will never be back again. When we opened the bag, there were normal fries, not seasoned (that looked undercooked and like cardboard) and chicken noodle soup. At this point, it was 10 minutes before closing so we figured they wouldn’t want to remake our order (although we would have been fine with a remake) so we called to see if we could get our money back. The rude lady on the phone said “well, there is nothing wrong with the pita so we can give you a credit for the fries” we said no since that wasn’t what we wanted. We asked them to remake it or give a refund and they said no, they wouldn’t give us a refund or remake the pitas since they were fine. I explained that since we would have to drive back for the remade fries and right soup that the pitas would be cold due to their mistake. It was hard to get a single word in because she kept talking over me. Now here’s the thing, she was mocking me to whoever was standing next to her at the restaurant and then said “I was going to give you $5 for the fries but now I’m not going to help you at all because you are cussing me out”. Mind you, I never once called a name or said any swear word, not once. I guess that will be the last money of mine they ever get again. Even though the basic diner food is okay, not worth the EXTREMELY rude workers. Gross 🤮

Will never eat there again my husband ordered a French dip when he got it.. it had melted plastic on top of the meat. The manager came over said she was sorry asked if he wanted another personally I would have said no but he did I told her he should get one for free she said they cannot do that! Gave us 5.00 off seriously totally grossed us out! So watch your sandwiches when you order there! I do not recommend.

First time there and am glad we stopped! Delicious food and great service. I believe Marcus was our waiter and was the most pleasant and helpful waiter I have had in a while. I enjoyed the ham and cheese hoagie and a cup of wonderful tasting lemon rice soup. Portions are large and had to take half my sandwich home. Prices are a little higher than I expected, but not anything different from any place else. If you are hungry and in the area, I give this place a high thumbs up! Nice job Charlie!

Simply the best diner around even more so now that they have a full bar basically. Gina is on point, and her Bloody Mary is on point. Don't miss out. Had a waffle with a side of bacon and a broccoli with cheese omelette and hash browns that came out exactly how I ordered them.

Use to really enjoy this restaurant. Went there yesterday had spinach and feta omelet and it was cold and did not taste very good. My mom had fish and chips, fish did not seem fully cooked. Seems like service And quality is not there anymore.

I was surprised by how much I liked the food in here, I had the strawberry chicken salad (🍓 🐔 🥗) and it was wonderful, like seriously it was so good and fresh that I'll be certainly getting it again 🤤🤤 The crew was very attentive and the place was a good spot for conversation, lunch, etc. Overall it was a very good option for the brunch type of thing.

An absolute pleasure to dine at. All the staples and more. Diner fare with a full bar. The staff is absolutely fantastic and friendly. Open early to late and great food. This has turned into my regular breakfast spot and their soup is great for the cold night!

Great place! Lots on the menu all day. Fruit explosion french toast was perfect. Saganaki was generously portioned. All the food I saw made me want to come back for more. Bathrooms could use some work, and man would I like to see some local beers, but it's tough to have any real faults. Definitely returning.

One of our favorite places to eat! Good food Great service Stocked bar I suggest getting a mimosa or Bloody Mary with your Sunday brunch 😉 Lemon rice and dill pickle soup are my faves. Their chicken Caesar salad big enough to feed 2-3 people.

We recently had a family get-together for 18 in the back room. Great selection of food with large portions. The Kids menu was a hit. The service for our big group was excellent!

I asked for stuffed French toast.. I had it before stuffed inside with powder sugared. they made the toast than just through the cream on top.. all this for $23 it wasn’t good either the toast was hard to pull apart. I wouldn’t recommend..

I have frequented Charlie's many times over the past few years. The food is always wonderful. The family that operates this establishment is amazing. I often have Gina as a server, and she always treats me like a member of the family. This place should be used as an example of what hospitality is all about. Hands down, my favorite restaurant ever.

The guy cashier with the ponytail always acts has if he's prejudice. He never greats you or say thank you when he gives you your change back. And he acts has if he doesn't want to touch your hand. This happens alot. Will not go back because of the male cashier. Foods is decent and waitstaff great. The owners need to get him customer service training.

My boyfriend and I love coming to Charlie’s. We usually come for breakfast and lunch and enjoy every visit. I love Charlie’s tiramisu pancakes. my boyfriend orders the corn beef hash every time and it’s one of his favorite restaurants to order this at. overall, portions served are large. We are seated before the door closes behind us. The staff are kind and funny as well as attentive. The atmosphere is warm and reminds of a 90s diner. We’ve talked about trying another spot but never do. Charlie’s is a reliable classic.

Best cooks/chefs in town! Staff are like family to us❣️ Our go to place, date nite for my husband and me. Our family uses back room for party's at times, why not. Let them do the cooking, they do it SO well. And servers are SO pleasant. Give it a try, desserts are 5 star!

This is one of the best places to eat in Detroit, that I've found so far. If you're in town, stop in. It will be crowded, but the service is fast and friendly. Our waitress was awesome and very attentive. The food was delicious. Large portions and very tasty. I enjoyed it so much. We went for breakfast. The ham and cheese omelet was very good (a ton of ham inside). My friend ordered pancakes with strawberries and bananas. It looked amazing. The service was quick and friendly too!

Such a wonderful staff of waitresses and a good menu the food never disappoints. They have homemade soup that is incredible and their fish and chips is the best around. First time going here tonight with some friends for her birthday and i have to say, i will be returning. Great food, fair prices, good portions. The server we had was super nice. Short brown hair, i cannot remember her name. But overall 10/10 for a first impression.
