My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. It was our first time at this establishment and it did not disappoint! We wasn't sure what to expect with parking and other norms. Parking was in the street right in front of the building which helped me feel safe. The staff were genuine, friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was quiet, romantic and intimate. We enjoyed the food along with its presentation. Very delicious and filling. The special happy anniversary touch in chocolate was very special. My favorite was the corn chowder.

I took my wife here for our anniversary and we had a lovely time. The experience is very intimate in sense of guests and seating. Before I get to the establishment I'd like to offer a couple considerations. Due to the limited amount of guest for the evening parking streetside right in front is easy. We did encounter some people that were patrolling the streets so make sure your situational awareness is turned on. You bring your own libations as they do not have their liquor license. We felt a bit awkward at first, but it's the norm here so that diminished quickly after arriving. When making reservations you will choose your entrees a few days ahead of time so plan accordingly. Now to the good stuff! Our table was one of four for the evening all set within a large entertaining room. The room itself is part of an old delightful restoration with a plethora of stories to be told every where you look. Our hosts were the right bit of a jovial refined bunch. My wife had the lamb and I the filet mignon, both were excellent and cooked to order. The dessert was sensation overload in a good way. All in all we had a delightful and unique experience.

The most amazing place to try. The chef knows exactly what he is doing, food is delicious. The atmosphere is over the top. Enjoyed the stories from John and Jim, who had so much knowledge of the history of the house, family and businesses of the Wyatt family. These gentlemen really want to better St. Joseph. I recommend everyone to experience a perfect evening at the JC Wyatt house

Everything was great, they make sure you enjoy every moment of your evening with them. We enjoy all the food so much. They take so much pride in serving and each item was prepared perfectly. We have ate all over the USA and they are on top of list as far as Food, Service and Presentation. Also enjoyed the Historical Home and how they have worked so hard to decorate. There is so much to see in each room. Do yourself a favor and make reservations to enjoy a lovely evening. They also make sure to cover any special diet needs you have. This is fine dining and fresh prepared food.

Was visiting some family in St. Joseph & was surprised to see this caliber of a restaurant in town. Everything about the experience was cool, texted my order in 2 days before our reservation (with my dietary restrictions adhered to). The filet mignon was a no brainer & hit out of the park. Each guest is given all 3 desserts to try which was unique but made the decision a lot less stressful. Look forward to returning during future trips!

Legitimately one of the most delicious meals we've had on a night out. Very warm and inviting atmosphere while still giving an air of exclusivity. Our table felt private despite other tables being nearby. The proprietor was really nice and took a few minutes to chat with us. Make your reservations early and call ahead to choose your main entree! Great place to make your date feel special. We'll happily return in the future.

I'm not sure if we just got this place on an off night but we were so very disappointed. This was our one year anniversary dinner and it was abysmal. I want to be clear in saying the venue was beautiful and the staff was attentive, professional, and amazing. That said, this was not our first experience with fine dining and their offerings were not even close to deserving of a $140 price tag. We paid $75 (with gratuity) at Trezo Mare just Friday night and the food was exceptional. We paid $220 at The Golden Ox in KCMO (including tip, drinks, and Oysters Rockefeller that were incredible) and it was mind-blowing. Here we paid $140 for what was basically artfully plated cafeteria food. My boyfriend's lamb was gamey and overcooked. In the year I've been with this man he has NEVER not offered me a bite (it's kinda our thing). He ALWAYS clears his plate. Neither of those things happened this time. I was so sad because I picked the restaurant and he picked the bed and breakfast and I felt like I let him down. My "filet mignon" was absolutely not filet mignon. I've ordered filet mignon. I've cooked it myself. Never in my life has it had the consistentcy and flavor of roast beef. The veggies were absolutely frozen and unseasoned (really, y'all couldn't sautee them in butter and garlic?). The mashed potatoes were undoubtedly instant mashed potatoes. Y'all I have been poor. I have struggled. I know frozen veggies and powdered potatoes when I taste them. These are such bare minimum sides that aren't complicated to make delicious and they put in zero effort. The crab cakes were lovely but I wonder now if those were also from the frozen food aisle. The cheese souffle was... okay? But kinda tasteless. A dollop of creme fraiche and a sprinkle of chive might have saved it. The salad was...a salad. Dessert was good, but I'm not much of a sweets person so I won't weigh in much here. I honestly struggled writing this review because truly the service and people were lovely. But we're still talking about this poor experience a month later and like, I'm sorry, but the owners need to know what a total let down this was. For the love of God, please procure fresh veggies, meats, and fresh prep your potatoes. Don't hinge your entire business on being in a pretty, historic home and just hope people don't notice you're serving them overpriced, lackluster food.

If you're looking for a very special evening with the best food in town, look no further. Not only is the food and dining atmosphere outstanding, they even have a gorgeous walk through flower garden across the street that is definitely worth checking out as well.

It was one of the most wonderful dinners I have ever had the people are wonderful. The food was magnificent. I had salmon and it was over sliced red potatoes with fresh spinach in the most incredible sauce. The green beans and carrots were beyond belief. The salad the appetizer everything was perfection. The desserts were extremely rich and decadent. Plus you got three desserts per person so you could try a little bit of everything. The only thing that compared to the Magnificent food was the beauty and extraordinary detail of the home everywhere you looked was history Beauty antiques it was like walking into a painting that wasn't even real it was so magnificent. And we enjoyed a conversation with the owner Jim and the chef Jeff who were brilliant conversationalist. Our party of four sad and enjoyed a meal and a home-like setting for 3 hours. No one wanted to leave. And no one made you feel rushed or like you had to leave more like they wanted you to stay longer.

My husband and I received a $150 gift certificate from out of state friends Christmas 2022. Wanted to save it for our first date anniversary in December, and attempted to make reservations the Saturday after Thanksgiving 2023. Emailed, then called and left a voicemail after their message said they’d be in business, and emailed again, trying to compliment them whilst trying to grab a reservation 3 weeks in advance. Instead, I was questioned on my personal life choices with “why did you wait so long”, argued with and even mocked believe it or not, with no attempt to ever “check for availability” for me. I tried to just respond back with “thank you for checking” instead of getting in a fight. Never heard back and here it is a week later. Very disappointed because I’d heard nice things about them before even though looking through reviews now, you're paying “fine dining” prices for a scoop of boxed mashed potatoes, frozen vegetables, and a thawed roll with meat that is not filet mignon cuts. Something I’d serve in the elementary cafeteria. Money wasted all around for false advertisement with rude and unprofessional behavior. In response to the chef, you chose to make this personal topic public and again as stated in my email, I am sorry for your loss. That had NOTHING to do with this and you know that! Too bad I’m unable to post our conversation here. Want to talk about selfish behavior when you’re using your father’s passing as an excuse for your rude behavior?! You had no intentions of letting me extend as your certificate states “JC Wyatt House will NOT extend this date.” Also, not hearing back from you an entire week after I was so rudely spoken to, I assumed you made yourselves “unavailable”. The least you could do would be to refund, sure that won’t happen. I have every right to leave an opinion just as you do and everyone else. Can’t please everyone I suppose.

Had an excellent Easter lunch. Great experience. Best food I’ve had in town as a local in a long time. Out of town guests were very impressed. Would highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back!

We ate there during Halloween season specifically to see their decorations which are always over the top and different each year. They were amazing! The food was so delicious! The salmon was perfectly done with a delicious glaze. The dessert trio was to die fore, especially their signature warm chocolate truffle.

Had dinner here tonight for a conference. It was phenomenal food, and service. Being a coffee lover I was even more blown away come the desert course. The owner makes his own secret brew. If it was commercially avaliable I'd own a ten years supply.

My mother and I were visiting from out of town and looked up fun places to eat in St Jo. We were blown away! It was such a fun experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere and service were superb. We will certainly be back next time we are here!

This dining experience was very unique. We went here for our anniversary. It will definitely be one that we never forget. The setting was beautiful! The staff was very accommodating and the food was phenomenal! My husband is gluten free and they took that into consideration. Since they have a fixed menu they were able to accommodate that and the Chef made sure he didn't miss out!
